Font related issue in dynamic textBox

hi everybody,
i hv a problem. i m loading data from XML file which of UTF-8
encoded and showing it on a dynamic textBox. i m using the font
Arial which is already embaded in the library. the problem is that
the data is not showing n if i chenges the data to that of english
the data shows up. but if i m creating the dynamic textBox at the
_root even chinese data also showing properly.
can any body help me to find out what could be the exact
problem , thanks

mask it,

Font related issue in JEditorPane on Solaris platform

Hi,
I am loading a HTML file which contains tables and in which table header text is in bold . Now when I see the output in the JEditorPane on Solaris, no bold font is seen there...only plane simple font is available for each word.
This is happening on Solaris platform only. On Windows, its working fine. Please help me out in getting a workaround for the same. I want the table header words in bold format in JEditorPane on Solaris too.

Font dropdown to change dynamic text box?

Hello, pretty new to Flex... well very! First Day! The MXML
seems pretty simple enough but having some trouble i guess on the
actionscript side! I want to create a very cut down version of a
text editor. Very cut down! 2 textboxes one input the other
dynamic... type some text in one it outputs to the other. Easy! but
now i want to add a drop down with embeded fonts... ive embeded my
fonts and there working fine. But i want to apply each font style
to my options in the drop down (bit like the system fonts drop down
examples you see) im making my combobox from an ArrayCollection
with aload of Strings. i also want a function to change the font
type on my dynamic textbox from a dropdown option click="" if that
makes sense. Bit confused think i might b looking into it to
deeply. Its just simple for a customized car license plate
builder... i want them to have the ability to enter there
registration and change the font and color etc. Can anyone point me
or show me something im a bit flexed out... sure im being silly
about this!

Check out your Text Frame Options - select the frame and go to Object>Text Frame Options
Then go to the Baseline Tab
Then check out the First Baseline Option - and turn on the preview to view your changes.
That will give you the option to have X height, Cap Height, accent etc.
If you want to get right out the edge of a frame on the left side then check out the Window>Types and Tables>Story and turn on optical alignment, that will allow punctuation to hang out side the text frame, not only that but the arms of "T" and letters like that will also extend past the frame edge, with a negative value.

Monica, I know the Normal Character Style in Illustrator must be defined. But my question is about the Normal Paragraph Style, not the Normal Character Style. As Larry just said, in most of my documents, and in my New Document Profiles, these fields in the Normal Paragraph Style are blank (undefined), so I know this is possible. In a few older documents I'm converting, the Normal Paragraph Style has a defunct font, and even though my Normal Character Style is correctly defined with the current font, it's creating some weird behavior.
Larry, it doesn't appear to be the document itself, it just appears to be not knowing what the right keystroke combo is to clear it. Just make a new file from a Document Profile where the Normal Paragraph Style does not define one of those font fields, define a font and/or font size, save, then reopen the paragraph style settings and try to clear any field that has been set. I can't clear it, I can only change the font.

Font Rendering Issues-Help Required Please

In the past week, any Google search on Firefox or Chrome (but not Opera) gives me results where the fonts look gappy. Sometimes there are additional dots above the letters. I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox from scratch in case an add-on was at fault but even with a clean install I am still seeing the issue. I checked my font settings and do not have any minimum font size set. I have allow pages to choose their own font ticked.
I've uploaded an image where I can see some correctly rendered text and some gappy looking text (not from a Google search but a Mozilla query). It also happens when commenting online sometimes, during typing it will be gappy but it will show properly once submitted. Any ideas for a fix would be warmly welcomed and I can give more examples if that would help. Although it's not Firefox related, I did restore all defaults in Chrome and it didn't fix the issue there either.
I uninstalled the most recent Windows Update since the problem is recent but it didn't change anything. I'm not sure if browsers would even look to my computers fonts.

hi Auds77, this is probably caused by microsoft update kb3013455 which can cause font rendering issues on vista:

one option may be to [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/remove-update#1TC=windows-vista roll-back this particular update] for now until there is a fix by microsoft or you could also look if there is a [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL|graphics driver update]] available on the website of the vendor (intel/amd/nvidia) which might also resolve this problem in some cases.

Font rendering issue & multimedia keys not working

Hi, yesterday i switched to KDEmod 4.1 and I have two major problems...
One is font rendering issue... I did not change anything in my font-related packages (cairo, freetype, fontconfig, libxft) and i have to add that this setup worked perfectly in KDEmod 3.5.9, but now it looks like this:
This bug occurs only in qt apps and mostly in kmenu... i.e firefox renders my fonts flawlessly...
Second problem are multimedia keys on my keyboard...
They worked in KDE 3.5.9, but now I cannot set them up properly... Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't...
KDE recognizes the pressed key, but when I assign specific action and press the key, just nothing happens...

You might be able to solve your font issue by going to System Settings -> Appearance -> Fonts. I enable ant-aliasing. I also clicked on configure and select "Use sub-pixel rendering" to RGB and the hinting style to Full. I also use the Force fonts DPI to 96 DPI. This makes the fonts pleasing to my eyes.
This is how I got my multimedia keys to work in KDE4.1:
Go to System Settings -> Regional and Language and make sure to set the County or region to your location.
khotkeys needs to be running. I added it to the autostarted progam list. System Settings -> Advanced tab -> Autostart
When I got the multimedia keys working, I was really tring to get the keyboard shortcuts to work. In addition to the above steps, I also deleted
~/.kde4/share/config/kglobalshortcutsrc. I do not know if deleting this file is needed to get the multimedia keys working, but it was to get the keyboard shortcuts woring.
Restart X
Go to System Settings -> Keyboard and Mouse -> Keyboard Shortcuts
I set the volume control in the KMix component section.
To get the keyboard shortcuts to work, go to the menu editor and select the program you want to create a shortcuts for. Click on the advanced tab and create the shortcut in the shortcut field. Save.
Then go to System Settings -> Keyboard and Mouse -> Keyboard Shortcuts. Change the component to KHotkeys. Select the Program and then select the default shortcut that you just created. (This works for the multimedia keys aswell).

Font embedding issue

I'm using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro.
The font "Helvetica" will not embed on a PDF document that I have using the "Embed all fonts" pre-flight. The actual font is 'Arial MT' (which is in my font library) but even the ArialMT fonts here are embedding as type 2 CID fonts:

I've looked up that "Helvetica" font for purchase and the closest I found was the "HelveticaLTStd-Roman" font (according to the Adobe font cross reference list) so I've purchased and installed the font but it still won't embed.
Anyone know how can I get this font to embed? Do I need to purchase a different font (Helvetica-Medium)? Or is there something else going on?

I'm experiencing a related font issue in Illustrator: I'm unable to embed fonts in a PDF using Illustrator CS5.5 (Mac OS X 10.7). An Illustrator message says that their is a licensing restriction that prevents embedding the fonts in the PDF. The original ttf and otf fonts were initially purchased for a Windows machine years ago, and many of them came with Illustrator. I've embedded fonts in a PDF using Illustrator (on the Windows side) without a problem for many years.
Is this a font installation issue? Since the "installation" process is different for a mac, is it possible the fonts were not "activated" when they were copied to the library/fonts folder? The fonts do appear in the illustrator file, but not the PDF.
Could this be a Distiller issue? Is Distiller involved when Illustrator saves to a PDF?

Why does ' ' kill my dynamic textbox content?

Well... I think it's because Flash sees it as a broken HTML tag, so I guess my real question is how to fix it?
Here's the scoop:
I have a dynamic textbox which is being assigned a variable. The textbox is set to render as HTML and all fonts are loaded.
The following variables appear fine in my textbox:
varText = "This is bold";
varText ="Two is > One.";
but this one
varText ="One is < Two.";
is truncated as soon as it hits the "<". Wrapping everything in variable doesn't help
Any ideas?

OK... I go it solved.
First I realized that inserting a < into the HTML string did display the "<".
But, a mass replace killed all my actual HTML tags of course.
So, I had to write a script to seek out all instances of "<" and leave the actual tags alone (eg , , etc.), but replace the other instances with the character code.
There's probably a better way... but at least this works.

Does Yosemite Mail fix the Outlook font display issue?

This problem has been going on for years and seems to be related to converting pixels to points, or points to pies between operating systems such as Apple / Microsoft. See The age-old outgoing mail font problem
Its a complete pain and beyond me why something SO simple as having the text display correctly between operating systems has not been fixed, especially in this era of technology. Apple should really focus on this and I am amazed that after waiting 4 years since the release of Microsoft Outlook 2011 for the new Microsoft Outlook 2015 that Microsoft have also not fixed this. Its just beyond comprehension and effects both the reputation of people sending emails using these platforms and those organisations that produce the software, and chose to ignore the problem without fixing it. The industry leaders should do just that and lead the way by fixing this basic problem, not burying their heads in the sand and hoping goes away.
Recently I have had to resort to typing the required email text in something like the TextEdit app, copying and pasting it into the Outlook mail body. Its not great, adding extra steps for every email sent and I use my Mac for business so there are many daily email being generated. At least doing it this way all the text is consistent when sent although I'm sure there could be a workflow generated in Automator or an AppleScript that would reduce the steps.

To everyone with IOS6 Sound related issues & Others

If you are facing a problem of not having any system sounds, notification sounds, no calls or other software sound related issues I'd suggest you read below it's a stupidly simple fix and it should solve most software issues after an immediate iOS6 update:
After updating unplug the phone from your computer and leave the phone alone for 5-10 minutes, if you still have problems: reboot, wait a few minutes and all sound related problems should be fixed.
When I updated to iOS 6 I had lost my system sounds, so I unplugged from the computer, rebooted the phone and still no go. I decided to just let the system "settle in" for a bit, let it lock and when I unlocked after 5-10 minutes sounds were back and everythings up and running again.

Well, to break it down. After my sounds finally came back (2nd time losing them) last night I decided to restore the phone in itunes. I did it twice. First time I backed up my data. Second time I restored it as a factory iPhone. Both times guess what NO SOUNDS! I also realized that last night I had lost my sounds after charging my phone and unplugging it from the data cord. I still have ringtones (when someone calls), but text messages, emails, and any other alert tones do not work. I cannot turn the volume up or down with the side buttons and also music does not play. It doesn't even have a slide bar at the bottom.
I am on the phone with apple care now. They seem to not be aware of the problem at all.
While I was on the phone with them my sounds ended up coming back, imagine that. Hopefully every time I charge my phone I am not going to have this issue.

Many Sporadic Preview Related Issues

Not sure if this is where to post/report Lightroom 5 issues or not, but here are preview-related issues I am experiencing...
Preview panel "preview" freezes indefinitely.
App very slow to load while creating new previews. (previews take forever to create and update)
Wrong previews showing for wrong images when swapping between folders, etc. (ie: all photos, last import, custom collections)
This one is a little different...

This was a clean install that ran beautifully at first. Started noticing this more and more after using the spot tool. (my last step in processing a job)
I use separate catalogs per job. Some as small as a few dozen images. (family stuff) Others, as large as 500-600. (engagement and wedding clients)
Hope you are working on this. It's making work a struggle. I'm not just a "consumer". ;-)

If I added the same actionscript to frame 3 which has a dynamic textbox with a variable timer attached wouldn't it just put the timer back to 0? What I want is the last known value that was given when it was in frame 2.
I am thinking of temple run here, I am trying to caculate the total distance(set in the timer variable) from the previous try.

This type of issues , how can I resolve.
