Font Rendering different in different browsers

Hello All,
Have a look at the Box at Top Right Corner, the text in this box renders differently is diffrent browsers. For firefox 4 on windows 9 it goes out of the box.

Hi,
a little help for understanding might be Murray's answer to me, where he linked to an article where a lot of different illustrative presentations of browsers are collected. Thread was  "bgcolour not showing up on web" http://forums.adobe.com/message/3041987#3041987.
Murray's answer was: Styling form tags is not so easy as each browser has a mind of its own.  Here's an article about that:

Please have a look to more of Roger Johansson's elaborations and tracts, like

    I'm using a simple, simple download example app to fetch a

    I have absolutely no idea why this is. I havent been able to
    test this in internet explorer, but i'm guessing it will show the
    same error. My question then is, why is it that the code below
    works for one browser and not for another?

    Font Rendering
    Every browser and operating system and browser and operating sytem version (just about) renders text differently. Chrome on Windows is currently the worst at rendering text, since it's using an old Windows API which uses an outdated anti-aliasing algorithm for the text. So text in Chrome on Windows generally looks worse that text drawn in other browser or on other operating systems. Typekit has a 7 part blog post here <http://blog.typekit.com/2010/10/05/type-rendering-on-the-web/> about all the ins and outs of font display in different browsers and operating systems.
    Scroll Effects
    Scroll effects are measured from the top of the browser window. Thus when the height of the browser window differs, even on the same computer, where the top of the browser window is relative to your objects when the page is scrolled all the way to the bottom will differ. Without the URL for your site/page, this is only a guess, but I suspect this is what you're encountering.
    Several customers have asked for an option to set the key position as a distance from the bottom of the browser window rather than always being from the top in order to create items that have a specific final location when a page is scrolled all the way to the bottom, but Muse doesn't currently have that feature.

  • Fost Displaying Differently in Different Browsers on Same Computer

    Why would a font display differently on the web page depending on the browser? If the font is installed on the computer (a Mac), isn't it available to all browsers?
    The specific problem I am having is with Palatino shadow. (The shadow is important, as it increases the contrast of the text against the image background.) The shadow shows up in Safari but not in Firefox.
    Why would this be?

    Firefox doesn't do shadows in the current version.

  • I'm a new user. My fonts look different on different browser!

    Hi,
    I have created a simple site and the fonts that i use in dreamweaver appears different on different browser after i uploaded the page.
    Can anyone please tell me why?
    i tried uploading the truetype fonts too but didn't work.
    Please help? Thanks alot.
    cheers

    Are you using web safe fonts?  If you are not, then different browsers can render the text differently. There is no need for you to upload any fonts.
    The problem arises too, if someone hasn't got a font that you may have used, their computer will use the default font in their browser.
    Here's a list of web-safe fonts:
    http://www.ampsoft.net/webdesign-l/WindowsMacFonts.html
    If this isn't the issue, then maybe post a link to the problem pages.

  • Text in tables shifting in different browsers...

    I have set up a page using tables.
    In the middle of the page are 4 images pulled in and lined up
    horizontally separated by table cells (for some space).
    The tables immediately underneath the photos are for adding
    text.
    I center aligned the text and am controlling only the font
    style (no colors, sizes, etc) from a separate external CSS file.
    The first line of text is "paragraph" format, the second line
    of text is bigger/different color and in "heading 1" format, the
    third chunk of text is "paragraph" format also (it's an actual
    paragraph).
    When I view this page in the 4 main web browsers, this text
    shifts up and down. In other words, all 4 photos underneath
    descriptions are not aligned nicely horizontally. The tables are
    perfectly aligned, so why is the text moving vertically inside when
    previewed?
    Here's a link to my site:
    http://student.ccbcmd.edu/~rsmit459/playingthedrums/index.html
    View it in different browsers and watch the copy under the
    photos shift vertically (not lined up across the page).

  • Static text in textfields renders differently when published in CS4/CS5

    Hi
    I am experiencing an issue where legacy files I created in Flash CS4 look different when published in CS5. Fonts are rendered differently. I have noticed it so far on DIN and Goudy Modern. The output when published in is CS5 is markedly different than the output when published in CS4.
    Can anyone offer any pointers on how to think about, deal with, avoid etc.
    Many thanks.
    Mike
    UPDATE
    A little more logic to add.
    It seems to be opening the file in CS5 changes the fonts somehow. CS4 files that I have not opened in CS5 publish as I would expect in CS4. CS4 files that I have opened in CS5 publish differently whether then published in CS5 or CS4. On Goudy for example. In CS5 adding .5 to the character spacing and 3.5 (not 2) to the line spacing makes the font render similarly in CS5 as it did in CS4 at 0 character spacing and 2 on the line height.

    Yes. It's static. I recreated the text and now it works. Weird.
    Thank you for your reply and time.

  • Navbar problems in different browsers

    Please help! I designed a navbar using a preformatted Dreamweaver template, but found that it displays differently in different browsers. The file can be found at
    http://www.npc.org/NPC909/links.html
    It displays fine in Opera and Safari (both Mac), but in Netscape and Firefox (both Mac) the navbar is bumped onto a second line. In IE (Mac) the navbar is on one line, but the dropdown submenus do not display.
    On the PC side, in IE 8 the navbar is vertically stacked while the two submenus display on the far left of the navbar, instead of directly below their parent links. In IE 7 the submenus don't line up with their parent links, and there is a thin black line on the right of the navbar. Again, Safari displays just fine.
    Our target audience is most likely to be a PC user with IE as their browser, but any suggestions you can provide to make the navbar and submenus display consistently across all browsers would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Arthur

    Hi, Arthur,
    I don't notice that you put an id on the li for "orderpub" like this:
    <ul class="MenuBarHorizontal" id="MenuBar1">
           <li><a class="MenuBarHorizontal" href="index.html" style="text-decoration: none;">Home</a></li>
           <li><a href="background.html" style="text-decoration: none;">About NPC</a></li>

               <li><a href="membycat.html" style="text-decoration: none;">By Category</a></li>

    which I would restyle as the following, in case you did want them:
    li#home, li#aboutnpc, li#members,li#reports, li#orderpub, li#links, li#contactus {
           font-size: 100%;
         background: #039;
         text-align: center;
         text-indent: 0px;
         margin: 0px;
         padding: 0px;
         float: left;
         list-style: none;
         position: relative;
         cursor: default;
    li#home {width: 10%;}
    li#aboutnpc {width: 15%;}
    li#members {width: 15%;}
    li#reports {width: 15%;}
    li#orderpub {width: 20%;}
    li#links {width: 10%;}
    li#contactus {width: 15%;}
    Applying those ids to the html, we get:
    <ul class="MenuBarHorizontal" id="MenuBar1">
           <li id="home"><a class="MenuBarHorizontal" href="index.html" style="text-decoration: none;">Home</a></li>

  • Trouble seeing my website in different browsers

    How can I set my iWeb site looks right in different browsers? I can't find a great solution for that. I prefer the "liquid" or "fluid" layout. If it is possible. Thanks

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Paste the URL of your site into this site Browsershots and select the browsers that you'd like to see how the render the site. They are static views of how the site will be rendered but will give you a good idea. Don't know what you mean by liquid/fluid. Does that mean not-static?

  • How can i set different font for different tabs/pages

    I want to set different fonts for different tabs/pages?
    is it possible to do the same? If yes how?
    I can change the fonts under tools>options>contents>advanced. but that changes global settings.
    tried some add ons too- but that too changes the global settings.
    some pages like tweetdeck do not display icons etc properly under custom fonts.
    when i check "allow pages to select their own font" tweetdeck shows up fine but a number of other pages show fonts that are too big or some non standard fonts.
    Is there a way where i can select site default fonts for some sites/tabs, and custom fonts for other sites/tabs?
    otherwise i have to open different sites in different browsers- say i use my custom fonts- which apply globally, and open tweetdeck etc in Internet Explorer or Chrome etc. if i can have all tabs in one window/browser, that would be great.

    It's not a built-in feature to override a page's styles on a tab-by-tab or site-by-site basis, but perhaps someone has created an add-on for this?
    It also is possible to create style rules for particular sites and to apply them using either a userContent.css file or the Stylish extension. The Greasemonkey extension allows you to use JavaScript on a site-by-site basis, which provides further opportunity for customization. But these would take time and lots of testing to develop and perfect (and perfection might not be possible)...
    Regarding size, does the zoom feature help solve that part? In case you aren't familiar with the keyboard and mouse shortcuts for quickly changing the zoom level on a page, this article might be useful: [[Font size and zoom - increase the size of web pages]].

  • How come my links layout go all over the place in different browsers?

    Hello,
    Please go to <http://www.peterdanko.com/errr.png> and see the screen shot of the page I am having difficulty with in the  design view.  Note the links: INSTALLATIONS, BELT COLORS, FINISHING, PRICING are neatly centered with the text body above and in a single line.
    Now view <http://www.peterdanko.com/atmos.html>  Note they are now stacked and randomly placed.  In different browsers they are all over the place.
    How can I keep them neat and tidy in all browsers?
    Thanks
    PETER

    Below is the complete html code/css re-written for the 'product-wrapper' section. (scroll down). Not sure if this is of help or not. I think you need to take some time to learn some more html/css as the way youre going about it at the moment must be a complete nightmare for you. Copy the code below, (scroll down) paste into a new Dreamweaver document and save to your site folder. View in browser.
    You need to simplify your way of working instead of creating a <div> for each of your page elements, which must be a headache to keep track of???
    Example: Instead of putting your header 'Atmos Seating Group' in it's own individual <div> use a more meaningfull html tag like a header tag, <h2>Atmos Seating Group</h2>
    Then use some css to target the <h2>. We know the <h2> tag is in the 'right_tx_bx_400pxWd' <div> so write it as below:
    right_tx_bx_400pxWd h2 {
    text-align: center;
    margin: 15px 0;
    font-size: 20px;
    font-weight: normal;
    color: #999;
    Similarly instead of inserting the main wording in its own <div> use a paragraph tag, <p></p> it's more meaningful. Then target the paragraph tag:
    #right_tx_bx_400pxWd p {
    font-size: 13px;
    line-height: 16px;
    color: #999;
    Get the point. We only have to keep track of one <div> not several and we can target tags in that <div> more cleanly and effectively.
    Try and keep all off your css together i.e. so all the 'right_tx_bx_400pxWd' css is kept together so its easy to find in the stylesheet intead of scrolling up and down.
    Don't use heights on <divs> unless you know how high it will be and you won't know that unless it just contains images or you set a specific height for a scroll bar.
    BELOW IS THE CODE:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

  • CSS problem with content in different browsers?

    I've been revamping the CSS for a website and got most internal pages to display normally on different browsers. However, the site entry page is driving me nuts. I think I've been staring at the code so long that I've overlooked an obvious error. In Firefox, the paragraph of intro text lines up nicely to the right of the navigation panel. In Google Chrome (and IE of course), it pops down underneath the nav panel as shown in screen capture below. Even if I zoom out. Included a link so you can see it in real time. (Since the revamp is recent, the style sheet isn't pretty.)

    Sorry for the slow reply. Thanksgiving and family in town and all that. No I didn't fix or change anything. And I'll make sure the percentage match in the morning. It's after midnight here.

  • Issue with images in different browsers

    Having an issue with different browsers -- hoped someone
    could help.
    If I open my site with IE, everything looks as it does in
    Dreamweaver -- there is no overlap of text and images/etc.
    If I open my site with Mozilla or Safari, it seems to
    arbitrarily move up some of the images over the top of text. Not
    all of the images, mind you -- just a few random ones throughout
    the page.
    Opening the following link in both type of browsers may give
    you a clue as to what is going on. What can I do to get it to look
    like it does in IE?

    LOL ahem, 'scuze me. :-)

    I can't install ADE on my PC, because as I try to open it a message of error appears to me: The application will be closed. I've already try with different browsers and also with the manual installation, but nothing..

    1
    Close all iWork applications
    2
    Uninstall Keynote; this must be done with an application remover tool to delete the installation properly. Appcleaner is known to work correctly for this purpose, it is free and can be downloaded from here: Appcleaner Download
    3
    empty the trash
    4
    shutdown the Mac and restart. After the start up chime, hold down the shift key until the apple logo appears
    let the Mac complete the start up procedure completely, it will take longer than usual as the hard drive is being repaired
    5
    Reinstall Keynote by logging into the Mac App Store using download / install

  • How do I make my animation look the same in different browsers?

    Hi!
    When I play my animation in different browsers it don't look the same as in the preview. In IE some of the parts of the animation have disappeared and in Chrome the pats are no longer in their right places. See picture below.
    How do I do to make the animations look the same in different browsers?
    (In the end I want to use the animations in my captivate 8 project. )

    Ah, found the issue, the problem is with the name of the two images,
         genomförande    (instead you can use genomforande)
         Grå bakgrund     (instead you can use grabakgrund)
    Seems like IE is having issue with those special characters.
    hth,
    Vivekuma
