Font size in Photoshop looks totally different in Web

Hello,
i have a very strange problem. Im using Photoshop CS6 right now to make some modifications to my website.
We are using font type Arial 12pt in the PSD file and also Arial 12pt in the web. But in the web the font looks much bigger than in the psd file.
When we save the PSD as a JPG file in browser and compare it to the website the fonts of the JPG file look fine but in the web they look much bigger.
It seems we have to use 12px in the Web so it will look same like 12pt in PSD.
But im very confused by this. How is that possible? Or what are we doing wrong?
thanks

The web runs on pixels, not point. Depending on the default browser font size, system font sizes and a million factors the dynamically rendered type in the browser can always look different. Even assuming 72 dpi isn't exactly true any longer due to high-DPI displays and browsers using other logic internally. that and of course the CSS formatting on the web site can override certain things as well... Complicated subject with no easy answers. Generally you should expect that it will look off more than expecting it to look right under all conditions. Therefore make up your mind how you render certain texts and don't intermingle image-based text them too much with normal text.

  • Font sizes between  Photoshop and Edge - Any Accurate conversion table?

I have been trying to make sense of the font sizes between  Photoshop and Edge. It seems that the conversion tables I have found do not actually give the right numbers and I am wondering if there is a table from Adobe that would make it easy to have the right size rather than an approximation.
I prefer to use text in Edge rather than Photoshop for many different reasons one being dynamic text.
For example a font in Photoshop in a 780 x 475 image is 8pt - In Edge, according to conversion tables it should be 11 px but it is totally wrong. It needs to be closer to 30 px to be about the same.
So, Adobe Team, any documentation on that?

By the way, I have to correct the numbers but they still do not make too much sense. The artist gave me a 300 dpi file so of course the px size what wrong. After converting the file to 72 dpi, the font size happens to be 33.33 pt or 40 px which is now way too big in Edge.  It looks like the size my just be the same 33.33 pt would be 33.33 px. Is this correct?

  • My Adobe Photoshop looks completely different.  How did it change from what I am used to using?

My photoshop elements looks totally different from what I have been using.  How can I find the simplier version I am used to?

When did the version change to 10?   I used it in March and it was the one I was used to.  It was much simplier.  Is there another Adobe Photoshop besides Elements?

Hold down the CtrlShiftAlt keys and simultaneously click on the Edit button on the welcome screen. After a few seconds release the three keys and look behind the welcome screen by closing it. Alternatively hold down the three keys whilst  clicking on the desktop icon for the Editor or PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe in the Programs folder. Keep holding down all three keys for a few seconds; then release. You should get the settings option. When you see a pop up box with the words: Delete Adobe Photoshop Elements Settings File? Click on Yes Then wait whilst Elements rebuilds the preferences.

  • When I paste a Pages document into an email it looks totally different.  Even when I export it too Microsoft Word the Word document looks different.  Apparently this does not happen if you have Word on your computer.  Does anyone have experience?

I need to be able to copy/paste documents into the body of an email and have them look exactly like the original document.  I could always do this on my PC using Microsoft Word.  And all writers submitting work to agents do this.   I just tried it with Apple's Pages and when I pasted it into the body of the email, the document looked totally different . . . no double spacing, no paragraphing  etc.  Even when I exported the document to Word, I copy/pasted it into an email and it looked totally different.  I suspect Apple's version of Word does not perform like the real Word in all circumstances . . . Before I go out and buy Word and put it on my Apple, I would like to know if anyone else has had this issue and how they may have dealt with it.  Thanks.

Drag and drop the file into the email, the formatting will be retained when it is opened by the recipient.

  • Font size in Photoshop document looks larger than it should be?

I am designing a web site in Photoshop. No matter what font I use, the size looks too big. For example, I have to make my font size 6px in my photoshop document even though the actual font size i'm going to use on the website is 11px. My document size is 1024px by 768px. I am viewing at 100% and my screen resolution is set to 72 px/in. I have asked my instructor and he doesn't have this problem but doesn't know how to fix mine. Is there something in my preference i should change? I would really like to be able to use the actual font size in my document as I would for my actual site.
Also, this happens in both of my PC and the Mac at school. Let me know if there are other information I need to say. Thank you in advance!

Aside from what Noel said, keep in mind that font size covers the em box of a font, meaning its maximum upper and lower height, not just the visible content and that that relation is different for each font. In order to e.g. produce a 11px high glyph on a 72dpi device, the actual font may be designed with 14pt in mind and you will have to use that size.

  • I cannot change my font size in photoshop?

I am unable to change the font size in PS, if I shut down everything and restart, sometimes it will help, but I cannot do this all the time.  I use Mac,  I called help last week, they deleted my preferences and made new folder, but it did not seem to help, anyone know a fix for this?  Thank you

When you reset Preferences, did you see the following dialog box, and click Yes?
Can you confirm that Preferences is definitely reset?  Try making some changes.  Restart Photoshop and open Preferences to see if the change you made survived the restart — to test that the Preferences file is not corrupted and read only.

  • Font size with Photoshop and Dreamweaver

    Hi everybody!
I design my mockups in Photoshop and then copy them over to DWCC with hand code and slicing images. It is perfectly fine accuracy wise because I  measure everything out. One thing that I am having issues with would be fonts. For example, I insert a text box in PS and start typing. When I set the font size to 12pt, it is rather large. So, in DWCC when I am typing out the same text and set it to 12pt, it is not accurate. The size in PS is much larger than it is in DWCC. Am I missing something? Thanks a ton.

PT is a print size.  There's no reason to use PT fonts on the web unless you're building a print style sheet that will determine how text is printed on paper.
On the web we typically use screen fonts in  %, em, rem or px font sizes.  If you're building a responsive site, start with %.  100% = the browser's default font size which in most cases is about 16px.

  • How do you increase the font size on Photoshop menu?

I can barely read the Photoshop menu - it is like microfiche - how do you increase the size of the fonts in the menu?

    click edit>preferences>interface>ui font size.
restart ps to see the changes.

  • I cant' control the font - size displayed during edition is different from the ones (1 or more - never know) sent.

    1) When I edit my e-mail, the font is always the same - arial 10 pts. But once the e-mail is sent, what I can see in my 'sent' box and what the receiver gets is all messed up, especially when I have pasted some text. There are parts with huge font and there are with such a small one that it's difficult to read it. Or the whole text is extremely large or tiny.
I need to write in HTML for I often must highlight some parts. I searched many forums but nowhere found any answer.
    2) When i get an e-mail the problem is similar: it can be written with the letters you can distinguish from the other side of the room or on a contrary - you would use binoculars to read it comfortably. The least font is set to 10 pts.

From John Waller: “If you're using IE8, hit F12 to launch Developer Tools which give you a point and click method of locating the relevant CSS rule on screen.”
I have Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) so tried this method.
This sounded like another promising possibility; however, I have not been able to change the font size in my post using this method.
I have gone to Dashboard > Posts > Edit > then moused-over my post > clicked on "edit" and then hit F12. An enormous amount (20 pages or more) of CSS appears. I tried picking out the font size that I thought pertains to the post (under Text Area), and I have changed the font size from 13px to 24px; however, I have not been able to “save” the new setting. When I go back to it, it is back to 13px.
As a result, I have not been able to use a trial-and-error method to establish which font size I must change in order to change the font size of my post.

I have tried to utilize the info referenced in this post,[Re: CRVS2010 Beta - Printing incorrectly using VSCR2010] the link you gave seems to generate a 404. No joy.
I already used every phrase I could think of in the box in the upper right hand corner of the page as you suggested in other posts.
I am surprised that editing registry keys has been the work around for so many years and versions of CR.   There also seems to be many conflicting versions of registry edits for the different versions of Visual Studio.  I was unable to find any specifically for VS2010.
    Any help is appreciated.

  • Font size in photoshop elements and adobe

Just got a new laplop and have photoshop elements 9 and adobe premiere. I'm having a terrible time reading what is on the screen.  Text is not only very tiny but it is most often black on gray or some other very difficult to read combination of colors for the fonts.  Is there anyway to change this to larger fonts and different color schemes so everything is more readible?  I've never encountered this in previous versions on my old laptop.

Sadly there is not much you do to make it any better.

  • TA24505 Why do d600 raw's look totally different than the jpg's that are imported together. When I select a raw, it looks as if it gets adjusted, but I can't figure out why...

When I import nef files from nikon D600, the pictures look good in the preview, but that's just because the preview is a jpg, generated by the camera. When I select the image, it looks like it is processing something and a totaly different (darker) images is presented in the preview window and the thumbnails. In the adjusment window no adjustments look active/selected.
Is the diference because Aperture cannot proces my Nef files the right way or are there some default adjustments selected in Aperture, somewhere that I'm not aware of? Maybe some default import setup...?
I use the latest updated version of Aperture, I'm new to aperture and understand the concept but am not familiar with all the tools.
    Anyone?
    (thanks in advance!)

    Thanks Leonie,
I think this also answers my question:
Are you per chance using the in-camera setting for D-Lighting? If so, this is a Nikon proprietary use where the camera intentionally underexposes the image, then applies in-camera processing to bring it back to normal exposure that offers a slightly enhanced dynamic range. Unfortunately, Nikon does not share how this is done and it can only be rendered by their own software options.
Aperture, or any other third party RAW image processor, can't easily match these proprietary processes in any exact fashion ... they have to develop their own ... not just for one camera or one brand ... but all those they support ... even if they would try to match these in-camera settings ... the likelihood that they would satisfy more than a small batch of users is quite low ... tone and color results are purely subjective so finding a match that would please everyone is almost impossible.
This is why if you plan on using a third party RAW processor like Aperture, it is best to avoid using the in-camera processing settings. Rather you should create your own presets within Aperture to achieve your goals. In this instance, it is better to allow your chosen RAW processor to do the work, rather than the camera do the processing.
The reason you see the change in the image as Aperture loads it, you initially see the embedded jpeg preview from the NEF file. Then Aperture creates a new more accurate view based upon Aperture's RAW processing engine.

  • Font Size different from same jsp

    Hi,

Its beahving unusual with such different font sizes, does not look formatted.

  • Font size manipulation in Month view

I was looking for a way to increase the font size in iCal, and realised that as yet nobody at this forum has come up with a way to do it in OS X.
However, since I just saw with my own eyes the different font sizes in iCal in two different user accounts on my MacBook, a bit of detective work led to the following discovery which I hope may prove helpful:
Download and install the wonderful and free utility TinkerTool which will unlock all sorts of possibilities on your Mac. (Mr. Bresink recommends installing it in your Applications/Utilities folder.)
By increasing font sizes in TinkerTool, I find that both the list of calendar types (left column) and the date & appointment time in the Information panel (right column) become much more legible. Alas the entries in the main Calendar itself as well as in the Notes in the Information panel still make me squint... (Please forgive if I'm not using the right English terms for 'calendar types', 'information panel' or 'notes' as my OS X is in French...)
Perhaps some of you good folks could play around with TinkerTool and come up with a 'real' solution?! if so, please post back!
    MacBook/G4 iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I would strip this site back to basics by removing all font sizes in your CSS.
    Then avoid %.
Re-build font sizes just using px.
Don't mix units (ems, % etc) until you have a consistent baseline and reason for doing so..
Pt is solid and reliable on paper. Px is solid and reliable on screen.
