Font size in Safari changing randomly...

I've just started using my new macbook pro 13", and Im noticing something very strange... As Im browsing in Safari (3.2.3), the font size will randomly change! For example, I could be browsing the discussion forums here, and all of a sudden all the text on the page will re-render into a tiny size, or sometimes a massive size. Closing the window and re-opening fixes it temporarily, but it keeps happening!
I have checked all the appearance settings in safari as well as resolution settings in the System Preferences, but no luck.
This has never happened for me before... any ideas?
Thanks!

Just did a more detailed search and found this already answered. New trackpad, makes sense.
Thanks

  • Setting default font size in Safari

Hi. I like to set my font size in Safari to one level below the default. I usually do this everytime I open up a Safari window and hit Command+Minus or go to View > make text smaller. Anyway, I was wondering if there was a way I could set this to default so I did not have to do it everytime I launched Safari?

    mrurmil --
You can go into the main Safari Menu, (upper left of top Menu)
    Go to Preferences>Advanced
and then lower the size font designated in
"Never use font sizes smaller than _"
Mine's set to 9 which is pretty small,
but I like it better. I believe it was set to 11 or 12 natively.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I increase default font size in Safari?

I know about doing a reverse "pinch" of the screen to increase font size in Safari, but is there a way to set a larger default font size?

From the Safari menu bar click View > Zoom In  or press Command + on the keyboard to increase the size of the page.
If that doesn't help, open System Preferences > Accessibilty > Settings then select Zoom on the left.
You can also increase the resolution on the dislplay. System Preferences > Displays > Display > Scaled
You can also get help by posting in the Apple Support Communities > Vision forum here.

  • How to increase minimum font size in Safari 7

Is there a way to configure the minimum font size in Safari 7 as there was in Safari 6?  It's not in the Advanced section of Preferences as it used to be.  Thanks.

You don't have a box marked Never use font sizes smaller than... ?

  • How to change font size in Safari?

Why is it when I set my fonts inside Safari to say, 18 for standard and 18 for fixed. It doesn't display that way. I keep getting the tiny font that I've always used.

The font size you specify in the Preferences (18 for standard) will be used only if the font size is not specified by the web page. Nowadays most of webpages (including this Discussions) specify fonts and sizes to use in the CSS file, and the setting in the Preferences will be ignored.
As andyBall writes, you can set the minimum size of fonts in Safari-Preferences-Advanced. But the results may not satisfy you (wrong line spacings etc.).
In the same Preferences, you can specify your own CSS file, as explained in the following post by Tom Gewecke:
Re: Setting default font size doesn't stick
But here again, line spacings etc. are not adjusted correctly. To write a detailed personal CSS file by yourself is very tedious, if not impossible.
As you might know, you can enlarge the fonts (and spacings) by hitting "command +" (press-hold the command key and hit the + key, or the = key; it seems you need not to press the shift key). I will be very pleased if someone tells me how to make this "enlarged" state the default.

  • How to increase font size on Safari browser itself?

    Hello All
I have been using my iMac for only a couple of weeks now, but during that time I have searched high and low for a setting to adjust the size of the font on the Safari browser - NOT the text on the web pages it displays (I figured that bit out!), the text on the actual browser frame itself e.g. the bookmark title, the titles displayed on the tabs etc
I also have not figured out how to increase the size of the text on the navigation bar at the top of my iMac where all of the available options for the program in use are displayed (file, edit, view and so forth)...
I am very pleased with the Mac overall, but the issue of these tiny weeny text sizes on the Mac navigation systems is a problem - anyone with real eyesight troubles would certainly be in a pickle!
Hopefully someone here will know what to do - I guess I just haven't found the secret yet!
    Thanks!

    Greetings,
Sorry, but you can't change the size of the fonts or the menus in application windows. They aren't that small, so if you have trouble seeing them, you can use the Zoom feature of Universal Access to enlarge everything you move your mouse over. It's in System Preferences.

  • How to increase fonts size in safari permanently ?

My 24" iMac has a huger screen. However, this is of no benefits bcos whenever I launch Safari, the fonts & wordings are so small !!
I can increase it by clicking VIEW > MAKE TEXT BIGGER.
The problem is after I quit Safari & launch Safari the next time round, the fonts are back to the super small wordings. And I have to repeat clicking VIEW > MAKE TEXT BIGGER again !!
Would appreciate if someone here can teach me how to set the default size to a big fonts size ?
    Thanks

Thanks Andrew, that is exactly what I wanted.
But if I increased, sometimes the words overlapped each other. How to avoid that ?
What is the difference between the font size settings in
Safari > Preferences > Advance > "Never use font sizes smaller than"
as against the two font size settings in here:
Safari > Appearance > "Standard Font" and "Fixed Width Font" ?
    Thanks

  • Font sizes for message change when  mailbox or message list is changed

When changing the preferences for message font to something a bit more readable (ie, 14 pt), that doesn't seem to actually affect the message font size except on the message I am actually looking at at that instant. It always reverts back to size of the message list font!
How do I get the message list to be smaller (ie 10 pt) and the message font to be bigger (ie 14 pt)? Changing the prefs doen't seem to do it.

Thank you very much for sharing that information.  It is great to hear verification that the mask assignment change did resolve your problem.   That is the latest resolution that TAC has recommended, but we have to restart the WCCP service on all redundant edge routers to be able to implement this, so planning the outage window is taking some time.   We've been told that TAC will set this up in a lab and test for us by our Cisco SE.  We're hoping to get verfication that this actually resolves the problem before we take the outage.
If you could, can you tell me if this resolved the issue 100% or do you still have any performance issues when making a change to your WCCP ACL going to your bluecoat equipment?    We may also need to implement this in our redirects to BlueCoat from our Nexus.  Do you happen to have a link to how to make this change in Bluecoat?   Thanks again!

  • Font size WILL NOT change.

I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0.0
I have a BMP file of a certificate and I want to have only certain areas where the user can write the details.  So, I did the following:
    Opened the bitmap.
Forms - Add or Edit Fields... (selected 'No' - I do not want Acrobat to detect the field, because there are none).
    Saved the file.
Forms - Form Tools - Text Field
Drew the filed and gave it a name.
    Double clicked on it
    Clicked on Appearance.
    The default font is Helvetica.
Changed the font size to 18.
    Clicked on Close
    File - Save
I then open the file with Adobe  Reader 10.0.1
The font size is ignore (it's tiny!!!!)
How do I change the font size?????

I am updating to the 9.4 version, as we speak.
It turns out that the issue is that the number shown for the fount is it the NUMBER OR POINTS not the font size.  Changing it to Auto seems to sort the issue out.
    Thanks.

  • How can I increase the font size for safari?

Does anyone know how I can increase the overall font size when in Safari?  I recently purchased a 21.5" iMac and while the screen is brilliant, the font size is very small when I'm using Safari.  Also, the web page is about a 1/3rd of the size of the screen.  Would anyone know how to make it such that a web page is across the full screen?  Otherwise, what's the point of such a big screen?
    Thanks!!

To get full screen view, look down at right hand corner of page.
You will see hash marks at a 45 degree angle in the corner.
Set pointer on it, and grab out to full edge of screen.
This works for all Apps including images.
I do this as default, being I sit about 5-6 feet from the screen.
Then use Pinch- Out to expand the page within the Browser.
Pinch-Out works for all Images loaded on the screen as well.
*You may know this already, grab browser window at the top edge,
and move it near the left edge of screen first.
I'll throw in a handy viewing tip of items saved on the desk top,
or within the Finder so that you don't actually have to launch the item.
Simply highlite it, then hit Space Bar.
This is part of Quick View,,, The Eye Ball Icon in header of viewing Finder does the same thing.
This works for all video files as well for a Quick View, w/o running huge ram loads.
Hit Space again to turn it off , Quick View.
You can leave it on if browsing stack of files, then arrow down or up for those views.
    Cheers

  • How increase font size in safari?

Not the text size in windows but how increase the font size of the bookmarks menu bar and the size of the url display

Those can't be increased directly without increasing the menubar font size and decreasing the amount of available real estate for windows to be portrayed on all programs. You have a couple of built-in options:
    1. Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Displays -> change to a lower resolution.
    2. Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Universal Access -> change magnification.
Other options on http://www.versiontracker.com/ or http://www.macupdate.com/ may exist in the public domain.

  • I can't seem to set a default font size in Safari 6.0. I can zoom in and zoom out, but everytime I close the window and reopen, it's back to being huge again. Any suggestions? To be clear, I'm trying to make the font size smaller.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

In Safari > Preferences > Advanced the smallest the font size can be set to is 9.

  • Font size for Safari menu and tabs headings

    Hi,
I setup Safari for the first time on my new Nexoc Laptop and have been very pleased that it works quite nice. My display resolution is 1900x1200 , so I love the possibility to set a minimum font for viewing pages. However as this works fine, I don´t find any possibility to get the menus of Safari readable without headache. I Set up the Window fonts to get Window´s windows readable, but how to archive bigger font-size for the Safari Menus ?

You can increase the String pref layout.css.devPixelsPerPx from 1.0 to 2.0 in 0.1 steps to see what works best.
In Firefox 3.6 and later this pref is a String value parsed to a float and allows to fine tune the dimensions of all elements more precisely.
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />

  • Any way to enlarge base font size in Safari?

Simple question. Looked for answer, can't find. I can resize each page with finger gesture, but am looking for a basic resize that stays on all the time. Thanks.

On second thought -- the way PB does persistent font size chugs is annoying. it first renders each new page at the STD size, then snaps it up to new size. This makes page loading slower by noticeable amount. Very annoying. Looking elsewhere now.
