Font/Text Dropout (Acrobat 8.12)

I have been looking around and up until now I have only seen references to this happening in older versions of Acrobat. I recently installed CS3 Design Premium, which bumped us up to Acrobat 8 (from 7), and then made sure to fully update Acrobat it to 8.12.
When making PDFs, some fonts will drop out and more specifically the text itself isn't passed to the PDF at all. It's just missing, but the PDF is spaced appropriately. Thus far I have identified 3 fonts this is happening to--Sabon, Frutiger, and ZapfDingbats. This is under Windows XP and using Office 2003 applications.
I tried reinstalling the fonts, but that didn't fix it. If I use insert->symbol in word the ZapfDingbats text shows up fine, but if I use it as bullets for a Bulleted List the dropout begins. Sabon and Frutiger behave very strangely; sometimes an entire page will be fine and then on the following page all the text is missing (but some of the bullets show where it would have been).
Is this the same problem from Acrobat 6 resurfacing, or something new? I didn't see mention of this elsewhere in Acrobat 8.
I can post a couple doc and PDF examples to show what's happening. This is something I myself can see on my own machine (with all of these fonts installed and active). I have specifically seen this happening in Word 2003 at this point (fully updated and patched).

I knew I was forgetting a few things I should have mentioned:
-> This was printing to the "Adobe PDF" Distiller printer from the application directly. (I don't recall that Save-to-PDF is available in Windows Office 2003, at least, I don't see an option for it anywhere.)
-> I used a modified/custom settings in which Embed All Fonts is checked (and the resolution is set to 2400 DPI).
So far I've not run across this problem since I deleted the Font cache, and after reading the descriptions in the Frame Maker discussion I am experiencing the same problem--whole page text dropout and/or random text here and there, always based on word boundaries or style boundaries (eg. if in the word quiet the q is bolded and the rest is not, sometimes the q is produced in the PDF but the rest of the word disappears).

Acrobat XI - Century Font Text Correct on Screen, Some Text Blank on Print?

I just upgraded to Acrobat XI Pro. Now when I print a Word 2010 document containing Century font to PDF (Acrobat XI), all of the text appears on the screen. When I print the PDF file to paper, some of the text disappears and shows as blank space. If the font is changed to a more common font, e.g. Times New Roman, the text both displays and prints. When I use the "save to PDF" option in Word, rather than the "Print" option, the document containing Century font both displays and prints. The same thing happens with WordPerfect files, so it doesn't seem to be limited to Microsoft Word. Different machines, different installs, different printers all act the same. The file printed correctly in Acrobat X.
Thoughts as to why I can't "Print" to PDF from a document using Century font and then print to paper? There must be some difference in printing to the PDF print driver and "Save as PDF."
Windows 7x64; Acrobat XI with the 01/08/2013 update; Microsoft Office 2010. WordPerfect X5. Embed all fonts set to on. Rely on system fonts only set to off. HP laser, HP color laser, and HP Deskjet printers.

I checked the document properties, and it reported that the font was embedded. I also have the font on the machine, so if it did not embed, it could have pulled the font from the machine. Really strange. It's not like it's missing certain characters. There will be five or six words that are simply blank. The same words or characters appear other places in the printed document. Guess I'll have to just write off Century and stick with some of the other fonts that don't exhibit this behavior. Funny, though, it was not a problem in Acrobat X.

How do I edit font size in acrobat 8?

I am trying to make edits to the font and font size in acrobat 8. I have clicked on the text toolbar under advanced editing and selected my text. All of the forums I have read say to right click on that text and select "properties." When I right click, my acrobat does NOT give me the option for properties. The closest option is "text style" which does not give me any font or font size options - only bold, underline, etc. Can anyone assist me in where I ca find these options or why it is not giving me the "properties" option?

Touch-up tool causes font issue in Acrobat 9 and X

While I edit text using the Edit Document Text tool (formerly TouchUp Text) the font style are getting changed, for example If i select the Uppercase style text using Document Text Tool after exit the selection and trying to save as the doucment some characters with in the text changed into lower case. In Acrobat 7 and 8 the TouchUp Text tool works fine. Please suggest a solution to get rid of this issue in 9 pro and X pro.

I have attached the screenshots for your reference, How I selected the text and what the problem was occur in the pdf files. Actually this is pdf file which is exported from InDesign as per customer provided export settings. if I change 100% of subset fonts in that export settings(See the screenshots below) I can get rid of the font issues in Acrobat 9 and X pro but I am not supposed do any changes in that settings.
If you want check/analyze the problematic pdf file I can send it as an attachement to your mail ID? if so please let me know your mail ID.

Trouble deleting text in Acrobat X

I am trying to delete a few numbers in a pdf file. I used the recognize text tool and now I'm able to highlight all of the text. I click at the end of word and the cursor remains blinking just as it would in a text editor. However when i press backspace, the cursor moves as if the text were being deleted, however the text remains. Am I doing something wrong?

"Recognize text" is Acrobat X speak for OCR. The text characters you "see" are just pieces of the scanned image you used OCR on.
The OCR output (unless Clearscan is used) is a hidden "layer" (note - *not* a "Layer" of an optional content group).
The OCR output provides fonts in rendering mode 3 (no stroke, no fill - so hidden/invisible).
With Acrobat X's "Edit text" tool you can try selecting a piece of this, going into Properties (right click for context menu) and change font color.
If this "takes" you can see what is happening to the OCR output characters as you select-delete, backspace, etc.
Why hidden/invisible OCR output? It is there to facilitate search/find and not there to replace the image.
Use Clearscan to replace recognized character images.

Editing Text in Acrobat Pro 9.

I have been trying to edit text in Acrobat Pro 9 using the touchup tool. Nothing happens when I try to type text or replace existing text. I have read that the system font must match the text in the PDF in order to change the text. According to the properties the text is curier a standard Windows font. Any suggestion?

Change font in Adobe Acrobat Extended Pro

I was wondering how I am able to change the font in Adobe Acrobat. I know we can use the type writer, but how can I make it my own font, color and size? Please help! =)

You cannot create fonts with Acrobat.
Doing so requires a dedicated font creation application.
Or purchas of Fonts to augment what the OS and applications install.
To change fonts in a PDF to something else that is on the local machine and available to Acrobat you could try this:
Select characters with the TouchUp Text too.
Right click for the context menu.
Select Properties.
Select the Text tab.
Look over the configuration options to see if they meet your needs.

Apex 4.1 different font text in Reports Region and Interactive reporting

In my APEX 4.1 page, I have two regions using the same ''Reports region" Template but font text are different. Why The first region is an interactive reporting. The second it's a report. I know that each one has his own data for sure but the same region template .Spaces between colons are different. Is it normal ? I want to have the same font text for the two regions.

You don't. You can zoom in to get a large font view, but the font size is locked in by the creator of the PDF.

Cannot export text using Acrobat 9 Pro

Hello all,
I have a .pdf file that I want to export as text using Acrobat 9 Pro.
File / Export menu appears to offer this, as does the help. But mousing over the arrow to the right of the Export / Text menu
brings up no options. I can export as .ps if I want to, but not text, or html.
Is this an installation option (I checked, and I didn't see any option for this)?
Or does the program refuse to export files with certain attributes?
Or is my installation likely to be broken in some way?

You can typically use the copy&paste or use Save As. I am not exactly sure what you mean by export other than one of these two options as suggested in the complete help (I am on AA8 here). It may be that there is no text to export. A lot of the older IEEE pubs are simply scans with no text. You would have to OCR the paper to get the text to export in such a case. If you posted a sample file, maybe we could be of more help.

Hi there Doug,
It sounds like you've enabled the High-Contrast Color option under Edit > Preferences > Accessibility (Win) or Acrobat > Preferences > Accessibility (Mac). Uncheck the 'Replace Document Colors' checkbox, then hit 'OK' to turn this off.

Are chinese fonts supported in Acrobat 10.0.3 Standard?

I have Adobe Acrobat 10.0.3 Standard installed, but it was from a remote location. When I try to open a pdf with Chinese font in ACROBAT (not Reader), it prompts for the installer location (which I do not have). Is there just a patch I can run to allow chinese fonts in Adobe Acrobat 10.0.3 Standard?
