Font used in iMovie Themes

Hi can anyone tell me which font Apple uses for its "Pass Though" theme.
I assume I cannot modify it (?) so a client has asked for the rest of a production to be done in the same font.
I guess it is something corporate??
Any help greatfully rewarded with some points!

    Hi L
This is out of my experience but You have done the most obvious I hope.
    - delete the iMovie pref file
    - run: Repair permissions (Apple Disk Util tool)
    - start from another hard disk or CD/DVD then
run: Repair hard disk (Apple Disk Util tool)
    - start a new account and log into this and re-try.
Try one at a time and see if it works.
    Q:
    - How much free space is there on Your int hard disk
    - Is there any ext devices connected
    - Mac OS X.4.8, iMovie v. 6.0.3 ? and QuickTime version (7.1.3) ?
    - Did You put in any third party plug-ins to iMovie or into QT ?
    - is you Mac as "factory delivered"?
    - or did you install a new iLife version?
    - or did you de-install any files/apps, e.g. using "Multilingual" etc. pp
                (from Karsten)
    - other programs that interferes like :

    < FileVault > etc.
Sequre that there are at least 20Gb free space on the internal hard disk.

  • I have videos stored on an external hard drive. How do i convert them to use in iMovie?

I have videos stored on an external hard drive. How do i convert them to use in iMovie?

Well you first determine the file types iMovie can import, then you determine the file types of the movies themselves and look for the best format to change copies of them into so they can be imported into iMovie.
Once you have determined the best video format for your needs and that iMove accepts, you'll have to find software to convert one format into another.
I'm lazy, so I use my 17" HD 1080i screen to playback the video in it's native format and use SnapZ Pro X to screen record that into Quicktime format that iMovie certainly accepts.
Not everyone has a 17" 1080i HD screen nor the money to buy SnapZ Pro X though.

  • I don't understand how to use the System Font Panel with iMovie.

I need an explanation of how the System Font Panel works. I guess there's a way to get some of those fonts to the iMovie Font Panel, but I can't see how.
    Thank you.

I have had good success with the System Font Panel. Now all of a sudden, I only get part of it. Any suggestions on how to restore the entire panel? There are no change size options in the corners like in some dialog boxes. I was going to paste what I have here, but for some reason, paste is not available.

  • Is it possible to replace fonts used in a PDF?

Hi. I have a PDF that was created by a third party. I contains a couple of fonts that are not available on my system, and for some reason they won't swap for other fonts. When I open the PDF I get the message "Cannot find or create the font 'WP-MultinationalBCourier'. Some characters may not display or print correctly."
Although the PDF looks OK to me, it won't print on the printer down in the print shop. (That printer is very fussy and will not print PDFs unless the font situation is perfect.)
I can't even tell where this font is used. It's over 500 pages, so I can't check every paragraph. I do not have access to the source files, and going back to the third-party (who created the PDF) is not really an option.
My question: Is there a way that I can force Acrobat to swap out the 'WP-MultinationalBCourier' font and replace it with some regular font? As in, on a permanent basis, so the print shop printer won't ever know that odd font was used?
    Thanks

    Hi Ed
I used to spend hours working out the same problems. There's good news and bad news. First though -- what version AA are you using.
Bad news is, unless you can get hold of the exact fonts used to create the pdf -- and then put them on your system -- there will not be much you can do, unless AA has vastly changed their procedures.
Even if you get the exact font and add it to your system, I am still not sure AA will "see" it, depending upon if the font was originally embedded into the pdf or not, when it was made. Logically, it would appear that if not embedded the program would recognize it on the system. But, unfortunately, this has not always worked for me and I do not know why myself.
Unless your required font is something like Hebrew or Chinese, the program will automatically replace your courier to the next likely (internally programmed) selection, so you will not notice any problems. (my experiences & problems were always with foreign languages)
You can replace a font or make a correction by blocking the sentence or word, then using your right-click context menu, then selecting Font, and making the replacement.
Perhaps the best way would be so save the file as another .doc file and start all over again, but with the font your printer will accept?
    Is that an option?
    let me know.

  • I would like to create a slide show and then burn to a DVD.  I may be interested in adding music.  Should I use iPhone, iMovie or a simple Powerpoint?

I am going to be creating a slide show and then burning it to a couple of DVDs.  I have used PPT in the past for simple slide shows for speaking engagements, but I am interested in adding music to this slide show.  What is the best/easiest application to use?  iMovie, iPhoto or Powerpoint?
    Thanks!
    Mike

burning it to a couple of DVDs
Is it your intention to create video DVDS that can be played on TV sets via DVD players?  If so you'll need a video DVD authoring application like iDVD.
Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  For iPhoto 9.4.3 and earlier select Size = Medium or Large. For iPhoto 9.5 and later selct 480p.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.

  • [JS][CS4]List fonts used in the Document

    Hi to all scripting gurus,
I have this following script that returns a list of fonts used in the document:
    function fontused(){               var fontscoll = document.fonts;               for(var i = 0; i < fontscoll.length; i++){                       var font = fontscoll[i];                       alert(font.name);                } }
The above is working OK my problem is that it also list the fonts used in the placed illustrator files (.eps). Is there some kind of parameter or something that i can use so that it only list the fonts used in the text?

This will give you the idea, if when you find more exceptions add them in a likewise manner.
The "if" statements check that tables, headers, etc. exists otherwise an error will be throw.

  • TS3356 Simple question I hope! I want to buy a camcorder by JVC but it uses a format called AVCHD. I believe this has to be converted before it can be used on iMovie. Can anyone tell me, in simple language, if this is so and how easy it is?

I want to buy a new camcorder and am considering one by JVC. This one, plus a few others such as Sony use AVCHD. I gather this would be need converting before any editing can be done in imovie?? I cant find a simple answer to this question. It seems strange to me that Mac dont appear to support AVCHD when so many video camera companies use it. Can anyone advise please, in simple language as I am far from a computer geek!!!
Is conversion a complicated or time consuming process and would it be simpler to fo for an MP4 type

Most AVCHD camcorders can be used in iMovie without any conversion needed if they are imported directly from the camcorder.
When you hear someone mention that you must convert AVCHD to use in iMovie, it is usually because they removed the files from the camcorder and only removed part of the files and folders. You need all of them to import to iMovie.
However, you should check to see if the camcorder you are choosing will work in iMovie. Here is a list of compatible camcorders.

  • Fonts used for dreamweaver program not working

Hi I had installed fonts on my computer using font book and since then, I can not load Dreamweaver!  I turned off and deleted most of the fonts and dreamweaver will now load, however the font used for the system - Example - on the preferences screen - the font used by the program is wacked and the fonts on the intro screen are just crazy symbols.
I am wondering what fonts are used by default by Dreamweaver for the program itself to function.  if I open font book at the same time - both programs crash. - thank you very much in advance!!!!
please help see attached screen shot.
    Christina

First open Font Book and validate all fonts.  I believe you have to select all fonts cmd+a, and then click file->validate font.  If any are corrupt, delete them.  Also for future reference you may want to create a new collection (bottom left plus) with your custom fonts to avoid this issue in the future.  Unfortunately, with a corrupt font this can be a long enduring process.

I'm interested to buy a Nikon photocamera Coolpix S8100.
This camera is NOT on Apple's list of supported cameras to use with iMovie 11. Nor is the camera Canon SD3500 as mentioned by you, I thought ...
Do you think I could use the Coolpix S8100 camera as well with iMovie 11 ?
    Or could I meet a problem ?
In my opinion, the camera will work with iMovie '11, HOWEVER....
I have a Canon SX30IS bridge camera [that is, not a camcorder], and the HD videos work absolutely fine on iMovie with one - for me - important problem.
As my camera is also not supported, when any number of short video files are loaded in together, iMovie will not understand the sequence they were taken in, and MAY load them in a fairly random order into a project.
This is not a problem where one or two files are concerned, but where there are more, it can be a major problem if you want them used in sequence.
You either have to load them into the project one by one, manually, or be able to identify clearly from the thumbnails which is which, or the order will be all wrong. It IS possible to relate what you see as a thumbnail back to the original file, but only one file at a time, so you can't use the thumbnails to work out the order, if the images shown don't do that for you.
I have used videos from 5 unsupported digital cameras, and even an 8mm cine conversion file quite successfully, so I have no doubt that the Nikon will also work.

  • Black Squares in iMovie themes

    Little iMovie theme problem here.
I have iMovie (iLife '11) installed on my iMac and it works fine. This weekend I installed iMovie on my MBP too. But when my wife tried to apply a theme to her movie (the holy communion of her niece if your wondering ;-) the above happened. Parts of the theme (Scrapbook) where black. Same goes for all themes.
When I opened the iMovie app (show package contents) I found that this also showed in the Resources folder. Where on my iMac they showed correctly. I thought I could solve this by replacing her  Resources folder with the one from my iMac, but that didn't do the trick.
    Anyone any ideas?

    Thnx for your suggestion Braden!
Unfortunately this didn't do the trick.
The app isn't bought via the App Store so I couldn't temove it via LaunchPad. I used App Zapper to delete it and then used the iLife '11 DVD to install iMovie alone.
Then I upgraded to 9.0.9 but to no avail. It keeps showing the black bar.
Here's how the Theme looks on my iMac (in iMovie > Resources).
    And in Quartz Composer Visualizer
    No black bars…
When I look up this file in iMovie > Rescources on my MBP it looks like the above, but with the black squares as the pic in my first post.

  • Font used when I give new Font("Default",....

    Hi,
When I create a font using new Font("Default",..
which font will be actually used?
In jdk1.4 the created font shows family=sansserif and font=Default in string representation.
But in jdk1.4.2 the created font shows family=Default and font=Default in string representation.
Both these fonts have entirely different behaviours.
In my application "Default" font is used at many files and I don't want to change this in all places, when I port my appilcation to 1.4.2
Any body know, from where I can set the font to be taken for "Default".
    I couldn't find any thing in font.properties.
    Please help....
    Regards,
    Jojo

public Font(String name, int style, int size)Creates a new Font from the specified name, style and point size.
    Parameters:
name - the font name. This can be a logical font name or a font face name. A logical name must be either: Dialog, DialogInput, Monospaced, Serif, or SansSerif. If name is null, the name of the new Font is set to the name "Default".
So, you're following none of the Font creation specifications, and just putting "Default" into name parameter directly. Not surprising it doesn't work as expected.
I'd say either replace all your "Default" font name parameters with a
null and let the Font() constructor properly setup it's own
"Default" font, or replace them all with the logical font name that
    you actually want - "SanSerif"
