Font Windings in WebForms

On metalink is described, that Jinitiator 1.3.1.* does not support the font Windings.
Wingdings In Webforms Are Not Shown

Oracle offer two solutions:
1. Copy/paste the characters in the range of U+2700-U+27BF.
2. Use Jinitiator 1.1.8. Keep in mind that this version of Jinitiator is only certified with Forms 6i.
Could anybody explain to me, how to execute the first solution?
As alternative it would be enough, if somebody would know how to show a double arrow up and down. (without Icons)
Thanks in advance.

Hey domcos,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Thanks for the question.
Is the body of the email message in English or is it a different language?  Does this happen to all email messages?  I look forward to your reply.
Cheers.

  • Windings font / symbol not right...?

<Sorry probably another v.dumb question!> ...but how come my "keyboard viewer" shows for the key stroke "ALT+7" in the font Windings as a 5-pointed star, but when I do this, it gives me a circle (with a thick outline)<br /><br />???<br /><br />...many thanks... <br /><br />(\__/)<br />(='.'=)<br />(")_(")

    ...its actually "d" or "e" / ALT+d or ALT+e / windings,.

  • Bold font in r12

i wants to have the fonts on the webform of r12 'bold'.
sysadmin tried to find out if there is any profile option to change it, but found nothing similar.
let us know how to. thanks.

The only way I am aware of is setting the font size on the Desktop/PC from the Control Panel > Display > Settings > Advanced > General. I do not think there is a configuration file which you can update to change the font size/type/style.

  • Windings Font ignored during PDF to word Export

    Hi,
when i try to export a PDF with Acrobat XI to word or to RTF format the Windings and Webdings fonts are allways ignored.
The Character itself gets exported, but it as "Times Roman". All other fonts works fine, but I need the squares from Windings.
The PDF check shows that the font is include. And the font is active on my maschine.
    I'm using a OS X 10.8.3.
    Any ideas?

I can confirm that there's a bug when exporting from a PDF to Microsoft Word on the Macintosh. I'd report your bug here:
Adobe - Feature Request/Bug Report Form
I created a block of text in Minion Pro Regular, and a few characters in Wingdings and Webdings in Adobe InDesign CC. I exported as a PDF file. Both the Wingdings and Webdings reported as an Embedded Subset (CID encoding).
    Here's the PDF file:
Here's the result when exported to Word:

  • WebForms Font Quality Unacceptable

We are porting a WebForm application from 6i to 9i; and upgrading to Jinitiator 1.3.1.17 from 1.1.18.19. The users will not accept the Jagged looking Java Fonts.
This is a common Java complaint and there is a Java solution:
    g2d.setRenderingHint(RenderingHints.KEY_ANTIALIASING, RenderingHints.VALUE_ANTIALIAS_ON);
Of course this is java code, which has to be added to the Oracle Forms Applet.
    Is it possible?
Does anyone know how to do this in WebForms?
Has any one tried to get Oracle to add this to the applet?

When we designed the FMB on Windows we used Arial 9pt Bold. We've made no font mapping changes in the Registry.dat so Arial should map to SansSerif. Our Registry.dat has the following in it:
    default.fontMap.appFontnames=Courier New,Courier,courier,System,Terminal,Fixed,Fixedsys,Times,Times New Roman,MS Sans Serif,Arial
    default.fontMap.javaFontnames=MonoSpaced,MonoSpaced,MonoSpaced,Dialog,MonoSpaced,Dialog,Dialog,Serif,Serif,Dialog,SansSerif
The difference from Jinit 1.1.8.19 to 1.3.1.17 is the same as if on Windows you turn off "smooth edges of screen fonts". On XP that can be set from: Display Properties / Appearance / Effects.

  • Reports displaying with Windings Font

We are running Report Server 6.0 on a Solaris 2.6 platform with OAS 4.0.8 and 8.0.5 Database. We have been having problems with the rwcgi60.exe processes hanging up and accummulating which requires the Report Server to be bounced. Aside from that yesterday reports started getting generated with all data displayed in Windings font. The Report headings were in a readable font but the data fields were windings. Data in the Database is fine btw.
Oracle Support suggested rebooting the Unix Server. We have shutdown and restarted both the Report Server and OAS already. Any one else have a suggestion besides "reboot"??? That's pretty drastic in a Unix enviornment. In my experience Unix rarely needs rebooting.
    Thanks,

I think cor-el meant to type 20 instead of 10. If you click the More System Details link to the right of your question and scroll down, you will see the numerous minimum font size settings there. They affect character sets other than "Western", which is set to 12.
While you could use the "Fonts for" selector at the top of the Fonts dialog to modify all these other character sets, it would be faster to use the about:config preferences editor, as follows:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''mini''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) For the various '''font.minimum-size.*''' preferences which are set to 20, you can right-click > Reset them to clear that minimum (right-click with the right hand and r with the left hand makes this speedy).
Or if you don't want to reset all them, just edit '''font.minimum-size.x-unicode''' to 12 since that likely is the culprit.

  • Using Windings as font, does not display the symbols

In a text box, I select any font and will display that font. If I select windigs font, It displays abcdef not the characters.
    Any suggestions?

If you are using a dynamic textfield, embed the font.

  • Some fonts are not shown correctly in LabVIEW 2012

I found a bug related with fonts in LabVIEW2012 f3 KR.
    - When I select NI7SEG in font selection dialog, right font is not shown in the example box.
    - Draw text at point.vi shows same problem for some fonts while other fonts are working.
I reported it to Korean NI. As far as I know, this was not reported in previous versions and I couldn't find any related documents in Google.
So, here I would like to know whether it is related with only Korean version. Please let me know if English version is OK.
    * OS: Windows 7 32bit KR

Just now, I installed LabVIEW 2012 f3 (32-bit, English) and checked for the issue. But the font(NI7SEG) was not shown properly in VI either.
    - Both of Korea and English version of LabVIEW 2012 on Win 7 Korea OS shows wrong results. It is same on 64-bit OS.
    - LabVIEW 2010 but on same PC shows correct fonts.
Is there a limit of number of fonts in LabVIEW? There are more than 100 fonts are shown in the "Selection Font" dialog and I can divide them into 3 groups by sequential order. I find that all fonts in the 3rd group are not applied correctly.
    (1st group)
    Arial Unicode MS...
    Bookshelf Symbol 3....
    Windings 3
    (2nd group)
    @Arial Unicode MS...
    @Terminal
    (3rd group)
    Arial...
    Consolas...
    Courier...
    Licida Console...
    NI7SEG...

  • Upgraded to 5.0 and now more fonts aren't showing up correctly

I had a previous problem with a colon not appearing correctly on websites and instead, I got FF 1A. Initially it looked like FF IR but FF 1A is the unicode or UTF font for that being it is a wider colon than normal.
I downloaded every font set I could find, even things that are odd shaped things I couldn't possibly ever use and the colon problem was taken care of, but then certain things in email started showing up with an FF 1A, or something else for that unicode and now that I've upgraded to 5.0, a lot more websites are showing these instead of the actual letters, numbers, or punctuation marks.
I even have Fontfinder installed but it isn't much help. I never had this problem until version 4.0.1 I don't know what else to do. I have Unicode UTF-8 for the character encoding because that is what fixed the colon problem, but now I'm having trouble with more characters.
I can't read the boxes, like I could for the colon FF 1A, but on this website
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/8_Man
Before each episode there are several boxes and each has a different set of numbers and letters and I zoomed in as much as I could and still can't make them out "魔女エスパー The Witch Esper" I can't tell if the first one is 98 54 or 9B 54. But there are several of these on this website, and I don't know what other fonts to try and install.
They are messed up in Internet Explorer, but most of them are just boxes with nothing in them, but I know this is support for Mozilla Firefox only and I don't really use Internet Explorer.
I can't seem to get online when someone in "Live Help" is available and there isn't a phone number to reach anyone in Support so I am very frustrated because these problems weren't happening before version 4 or 5 and I can't find any more fonts that would help. I believe "Wingdings" are automatically installed with Windows-XP, but these missing characters are supposed to be letters, numbers or punctuation marks, and they aren't showing up correctly, so windings wouldn't matter anyways and I am at my wits end.
I have never had a problem with any computer until now and I even reformatted and did every single update available for Windows-XP and even the ones that are still coming out.
For some reason below where it says
We've made some educated guesses about your current browser and operating system. When I click on "Show Details" under "installed plug-ins", it shows these
    * Office Plugin for Netscape Navigator
    * Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape 10.1.0
    * DRM Store Netscape Plugin
    * DRM Netscape Network Object
But I don't know why and I doubt that is the problem. You can't even get Netscape anymore.
It's so frustrating because it is messing up reading email and doing surveys that I didn't have this problem with before using versions 4 or 5.
In my "Windows\Fonts" folder, I have 375 files over 41 MB so I don't know what to do. I'm about ready to throw the computer out the window being I can't respond properly to an email or do surveys, if I can't read the letters.
4.0.1 was was a clean install after I had to reformat a couple weeks ago but 5.0 was an update that I just did tonight.
    I thank everyone in advance.
    Susan

Thanks one again. I know you helped me the last to. I do have the Deja Vu font set in my folder. I downloaded and the last time. So I don't know if there is supposed to be more or not, but those were installed with Windows-XP after my reformat.
This is really driving me nuts. as I've done several re-formats on my computer and several friends computers and even upgraded hardware so I am not necessarily a software or programming expert, I am somewhat advanced when it comes to computers in general and can usually diagnose the problem but these font's are the problem and they never were before.
I did see in another forum that if you had a Dell Computer and did the Microsoft update for the onboard video card driver that it could be the culprit, but I have that disabled being I have a much better graphics card so the updates from Microsoft for the onboard video weren't installed.
It' a Dell Dimension 3000 with an Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller so I don't believe it is the culprit being it is disabled. The actual video card that I am using is a PCI Nvidia GeForce 9400 GT with 1 GB Memory. And I didn't have any problem before.
I appreciate the help. But still can't get things to work. Live Help Chat doesn't open for another two hours so maybe they can do "Remote Access" or something and can check setting and help me. But if you come up with other suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks again.

  • How to make pdf of IE page without cutting off right edge or getting illegible font?

If I create a PDF from the Acrobat Pro X toolbar, it cuts off lines, instead of wrapping them as they are displayed and printed. Actually, it looks like they are folded back upon themsleves at the right side, as if there is no "new line" along with the "C/R".  If I print to PDF, I get illegible weird characters, almost as if it were a windings font.  I already did a repair reinstall, which is when the weird font started.  The cutting off started before then.
All PDFs I make from Office documents are still normal.  A PDF made either way from FireFox is still normal.  If I print from I.E. to paper it looks normal. Must be some weird interaction with I.E. 8.0.60001.18702.  Using XP.
Cannot find a similar topic that discusses this.  Using Acrobat Pro X; no updates are available so I must be current at 10.1.4  This is on a corporate PC, so I am limited as to what system changes I can make by policy. It's also a major deal to reinstall from disk, as the techs have the CDs and keys and must do it.  On the other hand, they are clueless about the problem.  Have not heard complaints about this from anyone else.
    Can anyone help?

Still have not heard from anyone.  I think there is something wrong with the forum pages at Adobe; this is the site where I have the problem.  If I use the PRINT ICON on the site or use F8 and print to Adobe printer, I get garbage.  If I use PRINT PREVIEW at the right, on the site, it is OK and it prints to Adobe OK.  If I use VIEW AS PDF on the site at the right, it is OK. If I use the CONVERT ICON in I.E. 8, it cuts off everything on the right, from the REPLIES SECTION on down.
So the work-around is to either use the VIEW AS PDF command at the right or the PRINT PREVIEW command at the right.  It still worries me that the CONVERT icon in I.E. 8 and any PRINT to Adobe printer command will mess it up.
There are some places at adobe.com where things still work correctly.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

  • How to display the COURIER font in the Form

    Hi all,
    <br><br>
I created a form with some items of "Courier New" font. Later I noticed that if the "Standards and Formats" in the "Regional and Language Setting" in the client PC was set to "Arabic", the data is <b>not</b> displayed in the items with the specified font. Instead, the data looks like of Arial font.
    <br><br>
<b>Is there a way to display the Courier font in the Form, if the regional setting was set to Arabic in the client side?</b>
    <br><br>
    Thanks in advance.

Which version of Forms are you running? Webforms or Client/Server?

  • Missing fonts in Adobe Reader for Pocket PC

Hi, I recently installed the Adobe Reader 2.0 on my pocket PC and found that on my documents where bullet points are used it starts to complaint that it misses the font WingDings. I have installed the WinDings font in the Windows\Font directory, but it was not the solution for the problem
Any suggestions as to how this can be resolved?
It seems just a silly small issue, but I'm worlking on site with customers using my PocketPC for documentation and I just get driven nuts as I have to close every time the pop-up box alerting me that the font is missing!!
    Any help is appriciated.

    >>> Our techs have been using the HTC Blueangel (Same as the I-Mate pictured on your site), and although the image rendered by Adobe Reader was quite sharp, the size of the screen meant you were continually zooming in and out of pages to find the appropriate parts. So weve chosen the HTC X7500 as a replacement because of its 5 screen (amongst other reasons). <<
Ho Kay... have looked at the file and, based on the general layout (drawings with part# references) don't think you can get there from here.
Back to the basic goal, a couple of thoughts based on the assumption that your company is generating these pdf's and needs pda access to them.
Perhaps the part# references can be hyperlinked so the tech could tap the part# on the image and go to a table entry with all of the info on that specific part.
In that case, html would be a better format for navigation since, afaik, there does not seem to be a <back> button in reader.

  • How can I make invisible the menu "window" on oracle webforms

anybody can tell me how can I make invisible menu "window" that appears on webforms?
    Thanks in advanced.

    Hi Andrew,
Thank you for looking at my problem!
Both my development system and test system are Window XP. The font size are all set to Normal. What other details do you need to know?
The text on front panel shows well on my development machine. But when the .exe runs on my test machine, the text size was not adjusted by itself so the text body got cut off.
I found a way to "fix" this problem: I had to drag the text box down and right so there is enough magin between the text body and the box on the right and at the bottom. I had to try it a few times until it finally shows well on my test machine. However, with those magins, it doesn't look nice on my development machine anymore. Also, I only tried on one test machine, if it looks good on one test machine, will it look good on all the other machines? Eventually my app is going to run on Window 7. I'll have to test that out and find out if it's still going to be a problem. Anyway, I don't feel this is the right way to do it. I hope someone knows what I'm talking about and have a soluction to it.
    Thanks very much!

  • Developer 6.0 WebForms display problems

Well, looking at all the submissions here regarding fonts, etc., I don't think I'm alone here.
I am trying to migrate a Forms 4.5 application to Forms 6.0 so that I can use WebForms to run it over the Web. I'm using Developer 6.0 with Patch 5A applied, against OAS 4.0.7.1 on NT 4.0 SP 3 and a 8.1.5 database.
Before I applied the patch, I had the following problems:
    - Icons on buttonbar were clipped around the edges, but appeared centred.
    - Embedded images didn't display at all.
    - A form using Verdana font for small text didn't display it's text.
    - A login window appeared in the centre of the screen (OK).
After I applied the patch, the embedded images did display - yeeeehaaaa! However, I still have the following problems:
    - The icons on the buttonbar now are indented from the left, with about 2mm of button that just wont show my image, with the image now off to the right and pushed upwards (worse than before!)
    - The Verdana font still doesn't display, and I've tried adding it to the Registry.dat file to map it to a Java font. I might try using the FORMS60_DEFAULTFONT entry in the registry as mentioned elsewhere here (anyone tried this?)
    - The login window is now "jammed" up into the top left of the Applet so that I can't see the input fields and can't move the window as I can't click its title bar (NOT OK).
If anyone has had similar problems, I'd like to hear from you - especially if you found how to fix any of these problems! If you've found that they're "unsolveable", I'd like to know that too.
In the last few years, I've been to SO many Oracle seminars/conferences, etc to hear them saying that WebForms works and is the only enterprise solution, etc. Why then, do they still have cosmetic problems with their product when it comes to things as simple as images on toolbars? I agree with others that they do not appear to be living up to their "hype".

Well, I haven't received any replies, but I have managed to find the cause and some solutions to some of the problems I mentioned.
I'm still having problems with the icons on the buttonbar having a left indent-type effect. Although, I can make it look bearable by modifying the images a bit.
The reason my login dialog was not being centred was to do with the Form using FORMS_MDI_WINDOW to get the width and height dimensions of the window in calculating where to place it. This works fine in the client-server version, but not the WebForms version. It appears to return 0. As this worked fine in the initial pre-patch version, my guess is that it was OK then, but not since Patch 5A was installed. I have worked around this for the time being by testing for dimensions of 0 and using an assumed size of 700x400 by default.
I managed to get the text on the Form using Verdana font to display afterall, although not in Verdana font as it maps to a Java font anyway. The problem wasn't actually with the Verdana font, it was that the canvas and item had large widths specified (so as to force scrollbars) and the text was actually way off to the left where it was not visible within the Java window. After I set the width to a value nearer to the windows width, I could see the text.
Although there can be problems when the window is resized as it doesn't "anchor" the content using the left side and provide scrollbars to go left and right to see all the content. It seems to try and make the field with current focus remain in the window, regardless if it means "hiding" the rest of the canvas. This may be a case of Java's Layout Managers not working the same as Windows?
I hope this helps others with similar problems. And if anyone has any ideas on my outstanding issues, I'd appreciate any emails.

  • Adding HTML content in Planning Webform Instruction box

    Hi,
I am working on Planning 9.3.1, we are migrating the application from planning 3.5.
One point i noticed todays is "Adding Instruction to Webform".
In my Old system- i can add HTML content to set the instruction more user friendly or even i can add url inside the instruction box by href fucntion of html.
In System 9.3.1- when i just copied that html from old webform Instruction box to new system webform Instruction box, it is not displaying in correct format.
Any idea and any thought , how can manage to add html inside the Instruction box.
Ex: <p><b><Font color=blue>Tax Percentage Input:</Font></b><br><br> <b>This form is used to enter applicable Federal and State taxes </b>
The above text display on click of "View" as the font ,bold etc defined above in my planning 3.5 webform but same content is not working in 9.3.1
Is that feature has gone in system 9 onwords...

This is no longer available based on the base code changing and no longer allowing it. Other might have suggestions on how to make so that works again but way I know handle this is through "menus". In menus you can add hyperlinks to other stuff.
Well I thought it changed back in later versions 11.1.1.3.04 (I know not much use if you are on earlier versions) :- 9475065 – Users cannot use HTML commands in data form and task list instructions.
