Fonts are corrupted in ai

I sent Illustrator .ai artwork to be made into T shirts and when they sent me back the proofs they were wacked.
I then sent pdf files and they were fine. Has anyone experienced this?
I "created outlines" with the fonts with the artwork.

Don’t send native Illie files to print; send pdfs instead.
There are too many different versions of Illie for print shops to be able to keep up with them all. On the other hand in pdfs the artwork is pretty much foolproof – effects are expanded and transparency is flattened – there isn’t nearly as much to go wrong.
I haven’t sent an Illie file to print in decades.

  • My fonts are corrupt??

    I have a PowerBook G4, 1.25ghz, and 1.5gb Ram
Just upgraded to 10.4.8 from 10.3.9
    Main Administrator's account is fine.
However, when I log onto the other accounts (wife, child, etc) the fonts look all screwed up. Sometimes when opening MS stuff (Word, PP) at the startup of the application it states all these different fonts are corrupt and need to be removed.
Again... the Admin account is fine with all the fonts and applications.
Any ideas on how to fix???
    Thanks.

    Hi Lawrence,
Two things are possible. The font cache files are corrupt and/or Font Book's database in that account is corrupt. Follow these steps.
First, follow the steps in Undoing Font Book.
    Then follow this additional step.
Download and run Mark Douma's Font Finagler to clear the font cache files on the system.
    Restart your Mac.
The above will reset Font Book and clear OS X's font cache files. Office needs to done manually.
Remove the following files. The tilde (~) represents your home account.
    ~/Library/Caches/com.microsoft.browserfont.cache
    ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office Font Cache (11)

  • After installing 10.4 Microsoft word says my fonts are corrupt

I have installed 10.4 from the disk. Now microsoft word starts up but brings up a message that " font name is corrupt and I shouls remove it" It has listed (one at a time) hundreds of my fonts.
I do not get this message when I open Adobe products so are the fonts corrupt or not?
If I need to "remove" my fonts - can anyone tell me where they all are and whether I will have problems in other applications such as the Adobe products.
Is there any known fix for this or just getting rid of fonts?

    hai,
what u can do is try creating a new user .
u need to goto sytem pref>accounts and create a new account .
check the article in the link
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.4/en/mh168.html .
then u need to login that other account and check if the issue persits in that other account .
if the issue doenst happen in the other account , then we need to troubleshoot the main account .
the fonts that u install in a user is located in
    HDD/users/user name/library/fonts .
u can put put this folder on ur desktop restart and check if MS word gives u the same error message .
if u need any clarification please reply to [email protected] .

  • Can I set Fontbook to NOT alert me when fonts are "corrupted?"

I just installed Leopard and I am having this problem where every time I open an app like "InDesign," "Photoshop," or "Word" i get these "font corrupted" messages from fontbook. I have used these fonts before (and they seem fine) and they did not get the "font corrupted" message in OSX 10.4. I cannot quit the apps until I have finished clicking "OK" to all the error pop up's. I can "force quit" but it still will not completely quit the app until I click the "OK" for ALL the pop ups.
Is there a way to turn these notifications off?
Should I trust Fontbook entirely on their corruption alerts and delete the fonts from my system?
    Thanks in advance.

I have a situation where whenever I open Word (and only Word) I cannot open the app until I have gone through and clicked "ok" to all the "font corrupted" pop-ups. I already have Font Book validating the fonts - in Preferences. What do you suggest?

  • Home Directories/font cache corruption

I have a network of about 30+ Macs which all have their user folders served from OS X Server (10.4.1). Users login to their accounts over the network from their systems sitting on their desks. The computers vary, Mac Minis, iMac G4s and iMac G5s.
All was very well until we upgraded all the workstations from 10.3.9 and 10.4.x to 10.4.5 then we started seeing trickles of font cache corruption. Now it's like an epidemic, everyone is seeing or has seen the problem, some just randomly, some everyday, some multiple times a day. It doesn't matter what hardware they are using.
One user in particular sees the problem everyday, sometimes a couple of times. For instance, at lunch they log out, leave the machine, come back and log in. Somwhere in that process the font cache becomes corrupt and Mail, Safari and Filemaker Pro 7 all exhibit font display problems.
I temporarily fix them by booting their system into Safe Mode and logging in as them which moves the font cache to the trash. I'll also delete com.apple.ATS out of /Library/Caches.
Some systems have had multiple fonts (I presume thanks to MS Office) and I'll resolve those with Font Book, I'll also validate the fonts and delete any that Font Book has flagged as unusable. I've even resolved fonts while in Safe Boot but the problem still persists.
I've even gone as far as just replacing the system with a new one in addition to ClamAV virus scans. There are never any virus' found and the problem evenually comes back.
    Any ideas?

I saw this same problem when we upgraded to TIger last month. Fonts in Filemaker and a few other apps would appear garbled, and Word would report almost every font as corrupted. The fix was to delete the folder /Library/Caches/com.apple.ATS/ from the client machine and restart. My solution was to create a launchd .plist file that deletes the font cache folder when the client machine boots up, and also deletes the folder every morning at 2:30 A.M. just to be safe. I installed the launchd file on every client computer in /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ and this seemed to solve the problem. I instructed our users to restart their computer if they were experiencing font problems and i haven't had any more complaints. Here is the plist file that i use: (I made it using Launchd Editor http://www.codepoetry.net/products/launchdeditor)

  • Fonts are not displaying correctly in certain apps

Some of my fonts are appearing much higher within UI elements than they should be. Any ideas?

I doubt this is a hardware issue – hardware issues are agnostic of specific characters, as this is the case it seems:
There's no 'c' or 't' not corrupted and on the other hand – it seems – no corrupted 'd's.
Have you just tried setting the font to something different?

  • Web Font Files Corrupted

I am using CQ 5.5. A customer site that I have the task of bringing into CQ included the use webfonts from Font Squirrel. Usually I deploy through Maven and noticed when I checked the site with Firefox, the fonts are not being used and Firefox is displaying eerrors:
[17:22:52.177] downloadable font: incorrect file size in WOFF header (font-family: "simplesans bold" style:normal weight:normal stretch:normal src index:1)
    source: http://localhost:4502/etc/designs/projectname/fonts/simplesans-bold-webfont-webfont.woff @ http://localhost:4502/etc/designs/projectname/static.css
It is displaying this error for every one of the 'special fonts' used. From the error, it appeared the font file was corrupted. So I copied them again from source into the project. No go. Then I tried copying them directly into my /etc/designs/projectname/fonts. I see them intially added at the right size but then almost immediately jump up to about double the original size. Obviously CQ, is processing them in some way that is corrupting them.
Has anyone seen this and can provide guidance?
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    Jeffrey W. Pearson

    Sham,
    Thanks for the reply.
I spent so much time on this because I was leaving cq as being the suspect as a last resort. However, the steps I took by copying them via webdav pretty much confirmed that cq is modifying the files after upload by my own eyes seeing the file sizes jump up after upload..
An extra tidbit I have discovered is that by uploading them into the dam, the files were not changed. I could then change the path in my css to the files within the dam and everything worked perfectly.

  • I get a "missing fonts" message even if fonts are installed

I work on a Keynotes document at my work office and bring it home at night to continue making corrections. Both computers have the same system (OS X 10.8.5) smae Kenotes version (5.3) and same fonts installed (Helvetica Neeu family and Joanna MT family). When I open my keynotes document on my home computer, I always get the "missing fonts" message as if they were not in my computer. I do get an option in that window to replace fonts by other ones but when I scroll down the menu, I only the family of fonts and can't access the different styles in that family.... Anyone had that problem????

    Hi Gary,
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I have tried with a few version of Helvetica and have really made sure I brought the same fonts from the office to my mac (as well as Joanna MT). Fonts are not corrupted in Font Book and all software versions are up to date and similar from home to office.
So I'm wondering if it would have anything to do with the use of templates (masters) in Keynote. Our document is constructed on a custom template and when I bring the document to my mac at home, the templates follow the document... but maybe i need to reload them or something?
Anyways, I have decided to plan a meeting at my Apple Store with a Keynote specialist to show him the problem in person... Hope this will help resolve the issue.
    Cheers,

  • Axt and ge fonts are showing in illustrator middl east version of mac

axt and ge fonts are showing in illustrator middl east version of mac

    Hi Mark,
Well, something is corrupt. The problem remains even after signing on
as another user. Now, another machine (also a quad core G5) is having
the same problem. This second mac has not shared files with the first one. Sometimes the glyphs from the fonts are just not
there, and at other times they are replaced with symbols.
One can immediately view the pdf properly and without error by opening it
    with Acrobat.
So this problem is intermittent (it goes away for a while after rebooting),
occurs whenever pdfs are viewed with Preview (e.g. from within Safari
or straight loadad into Preview). This is getting very very annoying.
I'm begining to think that only a total re-install will solve the problem,
but since it is now happening on a second machine, I'm worried that
    something more insidious is happening.

  • Fonts get corrupted transferring from old Mac G4 to new G5 running OS 10.4.11

"Why do my fonts get corrupted when I use a flash drive to transfer my fonts from my old Mac PowerPC G4 running OS 9.2.2 to the font folders on my newer Mac PowerPC G5 running OS 10.4.11 and Classic?" The fonts (hundreds of them) look fine on the flash drive on my G4 but when I properly drag the flash icon to the trash on the G4 and then plug flash into my G5 all font icons are grayed out rectangles with exe???? This is exasperating to say the least. What am I doing wrong and saves time in font transfer/installation? PLEASE NOTE: If you can, please reply to my email address at [email protected] ~Thanks in advance. ~ Bruce Freeman in Oregon USA

I'm thinking that your Flash drive is formatted for a PC, and for some reason the Mac-specific resource fork info is being lost along the way. Try reformatting it on the Mac if possible and see if that helps?

  • Can't open files on my lacie or if they do open, they are corrupt

i just upgraded to tiger from panther. computer is fine but lacie (80 gb firewire) is not: quark files won't open at all or even launch quark; tiffs, jpegs, and eps files are corrupt or won't open. excel and word files open but the fonts and formatting look funky. pdfs and ascii files open fine. i have repaired permissions, erased, and partitioned in mac os extended but no luck so far. firmware is up-to-date. any suggestions?
    Dual 1.8 GHz PowerPC G5   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Hi LizinKY and welcome to Apple's discussions.
I hope you don't mind me pointing out but it is not considered good etiquette nor so productive in getting your own problem sorted to tack your problem to the end of someone else's thread. You'll get far better attention and advice by starting your own.
    However, that said:
I suspect from the problem you describe that you haven't formatted the LaCie. By default they come formatted for Windows.
With the drive connected powered up and switched on, open Disk Utilities in Applications>Utilities. The LaCie will appear below your internal drive in a box on the LH side of DU. Select the LaCie. Then select Mac OS Extended (Journaled) from the drop-down box and click the 'Erase' button at the bottom. You will get a standard warning that what you are about to do may well set it train events that could mean the end of the world as we know it, but go for it anyway. If you are leaving the LaCie as one partition then that is all you need to do. OSX will now install to the drive.
If you want two or more partitions (better plan…) then select the LaCie again and click the Partition tab. Select the number of partitions that you want from the 'Partition Scheme' drop-down & drag the dividers where you want them in the box below. Select each partition in turn, name them in the 'Name' boxes, select Mac OS Extended(Journaled) for each partition.
Then, take a deep breath, and click the partition button at the bottom. As you have already brought about the end of the world as we know it by the previous step you can ignore any further warnings. Just click Yes or OK to everything and you should be good to go on installing OSX on the partition of your choice.
    Have fun!
    Adrian

  • Fonts are missing after reloading ID-CS3

The nightmare continues. After having a major corruption of all Adobe software about a month ago, my IT person finally had to completely wipe my machine clean and reload everything. I am on Windows Vista and using Adobe CS3 Design Standard.
Now, with everything reloaded, my Adobe InDesign fonts are missing. There is nothing in the InDesign fonts folder. What can I do to get all my InDesign fonts back?

I found lists for ID CS, and Creative Suites 3 and 4. The list for CS2 appears to have been an attached PDF that is no longer attached.

  • Font files corrupted via smb Win 2003 Storage Server

Files are accessed on a Windows 2003 Storage Server via smb.
I just received a "re-furbished" 27" iMac with Mac OS 10.8.2 installed. Any and all folders on the network containing Postscript font files show those files as grayed out. It appears to be limited to just Postscript fonts, NOT Truetype (.tt) or OpenType (.otf) fonts. It appears something is not recognizing the resource fork portion of the files (is it because they have no file extension?).
All other Macs on the network running older versions of the OS do NOT have a problem accessing Postscript Font files.
I'm just an end user looking for information I can pass along to our Network IT folks who apparently have limited Mac knowledge.
Any and all advice and/or technical resources would be greatly appreciated.

I do greatly appreciate the info in the "Font Management in OS X" article, but this does not begin to address the problem I tried to describe above.
The fonts in question reside in job folders on a network, running Windows Storage Server 2003 software and Mac users access those files via smb.
As needed, those fonts are copied from the network location to the application's font folder or to a local hard drive for loading via Suitcase Fusion. The activation of these fonts is NOT the problem. The font files, (specifically Postscript Font files), are marked as corrupted BEFORE they can be copied and activated.
This issue came about ONLY after I connected my new 27" iMac running OS 10.8.2 to the server. All other Mac users running older versions of the Mac OS did not have any issues, until the new Mac was thrown in the mix. Something in the Mac OS 10.8.2 or on the server is not recognizing the resource fork portion of the Postscript font files.
Once the folders containing Postscript fonts have been accessed by the Mac running OS 10.8.2, those fonts are then "corrupted," meaning any other users can no longer load those fonts as needed, because they are grayed out.
To underscore the significance of this issue, please understand that this is a prepress production workstation. The iMac was added because we could not install Adobe's CS6 Suite on existing hardware. Because of these issues, I can only use the new Mac to open InDesign CS5.5 and/or CS6 source files provided by customers, I then export an .idml file and work the job on my older "stable" Mac running Adobe's CS5 Suite.
So I hope you can come to understand that access to the exact versions of fonts used to create print production files is critical. Any substitution of fonts results in countless additional hours spent verifying that text wraps match previously printed samples exactly.
Few things are more frustrating than not having confidence in the integrity of files stored on one's own network. This is compounded by the fact that the "IT" function was outsourced to our company's headquarter's (offsite) years ago where the "IT" people seem to have minimal high-end knowledge of Macs.
Any other OS 10.8.2 users out there having this particular problem? Any other ideas?
