Fonts changed with pre

I have a report region that displays "line number" and "description". In order to preserve white space in the "description" column, I enclose the column using the tag <pre> and </pre>. But then, the font size becomes smaller on display. So I include the same font style as in the region template: <pre style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14px">description</pre>. The fonts now becomes larger, but then the "description" column lost all white spaces.
Is there a way to preserve both the white spaces and the fonts?

Quit all applications.
In the finder, navigate to the folder
Macintosh HD/Applications/Microsoft Office 2004/Office/Fonts
(If your boot drive is named something other than Macintosh HD, use that name, for example: mydrive/Applications/Microsoft Office 2004/Office/Fonts)
You should see a bunch of Ariel fonts. Copy them all to the
Macintosh HD/Library/Fonts
folder.
That should do it. You shouldn't have to reboot.

  • Apple mail font changes with mail encoding

Apple mail will change the font automatically with the encoding of the message.
This might not be shown on Apple Mail, but it does when recieved in Microsoft Ouotlook / Windows.
When I send in Western Latin 1. font is Calibri
Switch the mail encoding to UTF-8, Font becomes Times new roman.
if mail encoding is DBCS like Big-5, it start to switch the big-5 default font on Windows and it's ugly.
This is serious, the change of fonts is very unprofessional.
And we can't ask everyone in the world ot switch to Apple mail, most of working system are still in Outlook...

Ok, on further research it doesn't seem to be as simple as I thought. It's hard for me to fully check now, as I've installed Universal Mailer, but it seems as if this might only apply to mail with a pre-formatted signature.
I've pasted the relevant part of the html from an affected email below. For obvious reasons I've replaced most of the text with asterisks, but as you'll see, some of the text (in italics) is in Verdana (in this case the first two lines), and some (in bold) isn't specified, and appears in whatever default font I choose. (I've added line breaks for clarity.)

  • Application Dialog fonts change with change in Themes....

    Hi
In my Application, alongwith other items like frame and dialog titles, the dialog controls like labels and buttons also change with the change in font styles and sizes.
Expected behaviour: The texts on the buttons and other controls of the dialogs should not change....
    Please suggest...??
I am not explicitly setting any font sizes to the controls of the dialogs (only taking the default values assigned) , do i need to set them explicitly or is there any other solution,,,?

    You can't change the fonts.
In preferences you can modify the darkness and lightness of the whole program. Go to Edit > Preferences > User Interface and move the brightness slider. You might find a spot where the text is easier to read.

  • Font Changes with Publication

Hello! I am a first time iWeb user, and I'm really struggling with the font publication issues. I searched through past discussions and can't find one that fits my dilemma, so I wanted to seek some help here --
    This is my website: http://www.ischool.utexas.edu/~spapania/spapania/Welcome.html
The problem is on the Resume page. I've tried a hundred different ways to get this to work, and it's a different problem each time -- the spacing is off, sometimes it's bold, sometimes it isn't, the size is wrong -- I've recreated the page, splintered off the text boxes, changed the font -- nothing seems to make this page cooperate. I originally wanted dates (next to each employer and university) but gave up as this was the most troublesome aspect.
    Can anyone help here?
    Thanks so much!
    Sarah

Copying from Word could very well insert some invisible tag info.
    Try this:
    1. Create a NEW page from the iWeb templates that matches the problem page (This will eliminate any possibility of invisible tags corrupting your formating).
    2. Open TextEdit making sure the default text format is *Plain Text* (Menu>Format>Make Plain Text). This will strip any funky formating from the text in your site.
    3. Copy your text from your site from within iWeb and Paste the text into Text Edit.
    4. In Text Edit make sure the text format is still Plain Text
    5. Copy All the Plain Text in Text Edit
    6. Go to iWeb and DELETE all the text you want to replace.
    7. Click on the spot where you want your text
    8. From the iWeb menu, select *Paste and Match Style*. This will make sure the text is formated exactly as the template text you deleted
    9. Repeat for the other text sections
Let us know how that works.

  • Font-changing with RW-file?

Is there any way to use a RW-file to change the font on a single character during import of an xml-file?
The std-font I use doesn't have all the characters I need to present, so I have to use an other font for the greek-characters. Have spent some time with the Structured Application Developer Reference, but have not found any solution yet...
    DagB

Does this question belong in the Structured FM forum?
    If so, I can't answer it .
If the troublesome characters are coming in as uniques, or can be made to do so by R/W rules, then you might be able to use Find/Change to batch change [By pasting] them all to Variables (or to characters with the necessary Character Format applied).
I'd be tempted to buy a more fully populated Unicode font (or use one of the free ones).

    Browser Dog, Amy,
The default font remains Myriad Pro until you change it, either in the RGB/CMYK Startup files or in the preferences, options depending on versions.
Concerning missing font names, I believe this may solve it:
Open System Preferences and go to Accessibility. Next, select Display from the source list along the left, then check the box labelled Reduce transparency.
It was first presented in this post #15 by TheUlser:

  • Outlook 2007 calendar events font changes after syncing with iTunes

I use Outlook 2007 on a Windows XP PC. I have no problems syncing Outlook calendar events with my iPhone 4 other than for one highly annoying detail. My default font in Outlook is set to Times New Roman 12 pt. Whenever I sync, all of my calendar events' text in Outlook is changed from Times New Roman 12 pt. to Calibri 11 pt., and sometimes more recently, to Arial 10 pt.
It's driving me nuts as I find Calibri to be hideous-looking. In addition to the font change, all other special formatting such as bold and italics are removed.
Has anyone experienced this before or know what's going on? Many thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Has no one experienced this issue? I can't understand why this happening. It's been almost two months since I posted this.
To reiterate: After syncing with iTunes (the newest version), all custom text formatting in Outlook 2007 calendar events are changed to Calibri 11 point, and sometimes more recently, to Arial 10 point. My default font is set to Times New Roman 12 point.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Font in swf file changes with indesign

Hi, I am creating an indesign presentation, and have included a swf movie I created in Flash Professional. The movie contains some text, which appears fine in Flash Pro and fine in the indesign preview tool, but once the indesign file is exported to a swf file itself, the font changes to something different. I have made the text field into a movie symbol in Flash after finding this issue the first time, but this has not corrected it. Is there anyway I can correct this please?
    Thanks

Thanks. I'm going to have to find out the process behind that as I'm not sure how to do it - exporting the flash animation as a swf file is also creating a swz file that I assumed was all the text info needed, but it doesnt seem to help in this matter. In the mean time I have done the text parts in Photoshop, simplified the layers and then imported them as png images, and that has seemed to fix the issue.
    Thanks for your response!

  • JTextArea not reformatting with font change

I have a JTextArea Which allows font changes through a combox in a toolbar. When the font gets changed to a wider font, e.g. from Serif to Book Antigua, the wrapped lines reformat to a different line spacing and, if a new wrap is needed, write over the next row. The non-wrapped lines do not get reformatted. Is there any way to force reformatting for all lines?

for anyone interested in a workaround:
    setLineWrap(false);
    setLineWrap(true);
forces a reformatting of the line heights and positions of all lines

  • I am in font **** (starts with an "h")

I'm re-installing Tiger after a huge crash and want to get a handle on my fonts from the beginning. I know I need to start using a font managenet tool because I'm a beginning designer (self-taught) and don't want a load of fonts I rarely use bogging down my system. Unfortunatley, I know nothing about font management tools and am in the middle of a few projects so I can't afford the learning curve as I reinstall. I need to plan so I can implement a tool later (I'm wanting to try FontExplorer X, which sadly has no for dummies manual.)
That explained, is there any way to label or folder fonts as they are installed so I know where they came from? Ideally, I would like to mark them as Tiger Base Fonts, Tiger Additional Fonts, MS Fonts, Adobe Fonts, etc. I tried using the Label option under the File menu, and even the Spotlight Comments section in the "Get Info" windows, but these aren't allowed at the Macintosh HD/System/Library/Fonts level -- or I just don't know how to allow them.
Can anyone help? I can't afford another re-install right now if I mess something up, and my Mac has already been down for 3 days.
    Must...get...work...done.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello Douglas,
one way to label Fonts in FontBook is using "Font Collections" and "Font Libraries". I am not sure if that is an adequate solution to your problem, but here's my idea:
    1) /System/Library/Fonts:
No need to label, as no application should be allowed to put fonts into that folder. If you don't mess with it, you are always able to find where the Fonts come from: Apple
    2) /Library/Fonts:
Put the fonts that were pre-installed by Mac OS X into a collection named "Tiger additional fonts" or something like that. You should be able to give them a color label in the Finder, too (at least with the admin user). This way, you can determine whether somebody or someapp puts fonts into that directory later on.
    3) ~/Library/Fonts:
Your own fonts. As you have full access to those, there shouldn't be a problem organizing them in any way you want.
    4) Adobe Fonts
    I think these fonts reside in /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Fonts/ .
Put these into a seperate Font Library and name it Adobe Fonts. With this approach, you clarify that there is yet another font location.
    5) Microsoft Fonts
I think the MS Office Installer puts them into /Library/Fonts/, so it was a beneficial approach to give a color label to the pre-installed fonts. Now you can sort them with the label type and put the fonts with no label into a collection named "Microsoft Fonts"
I hope, I could give some ideas.....What do you think?
    Cheers,
    Florian Schneider
PS. I took a glance at FontExplorer by Linotype. As far as I have seen, it automatically distinguishes between System Fonts, System-Wide Fonts (for all users, which is the /Library/Fonts/) folder and per-User Fonts (which is the ~/Library/Fonts/ folder). FontBook makes a similar distinction, so with both tools, the challenge is to keep track of new and changed fonts.

  • [RAP] Font.equals with disposed fonts

    Dear SWT community,
I'm currently using SWT and draw2d for RAP and I'm not sure if I should post here or in the RAP forum. My problem is located in the jars "org.eclipse.rap.rwt_2.3.2.20150128-1013.jar" and "org.eclipse.rap.draw2d_0.1.0.20141203-1509.jar".
Actually in my RAP application, the layout managers are calling FlowUtilities#getAverageCharWidth with a "Font {Arial,10,NORMAL}". Then this method calls FigureUtilities#getFontMetrics with that same font, and this last method calls its internal #setFont to change the current FigureUtilities cached font.
The problem is that internally FigureUtilities has another Font stored with the exact same FontData: "Font {Arial,10,NORMAL}" but this font is DISPOSED. Indeed when the method setFont is called, the fonts are compared and both are qualified EQUALS because the Font#equals method does not check if the Font is disposed...
Is this a normal behavior? Should the equals method return false when a Font is disposed and the other not, but they have the exact same FontData? Should I never encounter this behavior?
    Thanks for any answer.
    Regards,
    Jerome.
EDIT: I've just fixed in my local instance the problem by doing a checkout on "org.eclipse.rap.draw2d" and modifying the "FigureUtilities#setFont" to check for disposed Fonts. It works as expected. Indeed I guess it's not a SWT bug but a RCP Draw2d bug so if a moderator could move my message into the right forum (RAP / Incubator) it would be appreciated .

You're creating a quarter million distinct Font objects, and obviously you must be hanging on to all of them because each character is having its font set to the newly created object. So if you have 250k chars, you're forcing it to have 250k Font objects.
Since the only difference is that rand.nextInt(50) parameter, just pre-create 50 Font objects with 0..49, stick 'em in the corresponding elements in an array, and use rand.nextInt to select the Font object to use. That does make sense but it does that when the the program is first launched and doesn't lag. But the second and third time you change the letters font it seems to lag so if it wasn't taking up more memory the second time it should perform like it did when it first launched. I don't care to investigate any further. The real problem is almost certainly the quarter million Font objects. It could be that 250k is fine, but by the time you get to 500k, it has to do a lot of GC, and that's where the slow down is coming. You might even be able to make it work better with the code you have just by tweaking the GC parameters at startup, but I wouldn't bother. Fix the code first, and then see if you have issues.
Does creating a new font for each of those letters not replace the old font object? If it didn't use more memory the second and third time I don't think you would see the skipping in the counter and the slowing down of the iterations. So it must be remembering some of the old font objects or am I wrong?Using new always creates a new object. When you do it the second time around, and call letter.setFont(newFont), the old Font object is eligible for GC. That doesn't mean it will be GCed right away though. The JVM can leave them all laying around until it runs out of memory, and then GC some or all of them.

While editing a scanned pdf, Acrobat will not recognize the current font & change to very different font. How can I choose the font I want to match the current document?

Thanks for answering. The version is XI.0.10. I just did the update yesterday hoping that I could now properly edit a scanned pdf document. Yes, it's happening on most all scanned documents. I followed your steps & found the list of fonts used in the document & then attempted to edit. The same occurs. When I type in a correction, I get an error alert... "the original font (in this case Fd 5805) is not available or can't be used in editing. Acrobat is using the font Minion Pro in its place."
When I select the text & right click as you suggested, my only choices are cut, copy, delete or select all, no "edit text".
I have no other options to choose another font. Thanks for any help you can direct my way.
