Fonts differing between Operating Systems

We've recently created a flash widget. Another developer uses Mac and I use Windows Vista...we both installed the same font, but the fonts clearly seems to look different when I compile it than when he does. Is this common? Is there a way to make sure this doesn't happen?
Thanks,
Dan

  • What's different between busniess system and technical system in SLD?

I can enter product(ect.ERP r/3) , components(ect.FI-CO module) to technical system , then enter technical system to busniess system  but ,who can explain  what's different between busniess system and technical system in SLD, exactly?
    THANKS!

Technical Systems are of following types:
Technical systems are application systems that are installed in your system landscape. An example of an application system is a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) server. In the SLD, there are five types of technical systems:
    1.)WEBas java,
    2.)Standalone JAVA
    3.)Third party
    4.)Web as ABAP
    1) Web AS Java
Web AS Java systems consist of one or more instances and each instance is installed on a separate host. An instance itself consists of cluster nodes that can communicate with each other.
    2.)Standalone Java
Standalone Java technical systems are standalone Java applications that are installed in a computer system from an administration perspective. They can also be installed as an operating system service or as a daemon
Web AS java belongs to the NetWeaver Comes with both ABAP and Java, Standalone instread comes separate from the netWeaver.
    3) Third party technical sytem
It can be any of the technical sytem. let us say if you want to send a file to R/3, here the file reside in your local system. for that you can define your local system as a third party technical system.
All those machines that comes under non sap, belongs to the third party.
4.) Web AS ABAP technical systems, ranging from any SAP system to an APO server or CRM server, are based on the same Basis Component (BC), which includes the ABAP interpreter, ABAP Dictionary, ABAP Workbench, and so on. A dedicated database, which stores most of the data of the BC and the application components, is associated with the system.

Business systems are logical systems, which function as senders or receivers within XI. Business systems can be SAP systems or third-party systems.
Depending on the associated technical system, the following types of business systems are defined in the SLD:
    · Web AS ABAP
A business system, which is associated with a Web AS ABAP.
A business system, which is associated with a Web AS ABAP, can play the role either of an application system or an integration server. An integration server is the central component of XI, which provides a framework for the exchange of information among various internal and external entities of a company. The integration server facilitates the interaction between the different operating systems and applications across internal and external networks.
    · Web AS Java
A business system, which is associated with a Web AS Java.
    · Standalone
A business system, which is associated with a standalone Java application.
    · Third-party
A business system, which is associated with a third-party technical system.

  • Difference between operational systems datamodelling & datawarehouse model

»     An understanding of the differences between operational systems data modeling and data warehouse data modeling.

    Hi,
While in a OLTP you  have data tables free of redundance and ready for transactions meaning writing and reading few records often, in an OLAP-system you need to read a lot of data for every query you do on a database. Often in an OLAP-system you aggregate these amounts of data.
Therefore you use another principle for these database scheme. This is called star schema. This means that you have one central table (called fact table) which holds the key figures and have keys to another tables with characteristics. These other tables are called dimension tables. They hold combinations of the characteristics
I hope the following links may help you to get some more Idea.

  • Booting different Mac operating systems.

In the Windows world, the user can set up a computer to allow the selection of different operating system versions, such as Win98, WinXP, WinVista, to be chosen at startup.
Can this be done with Leopard, or possibly Snow Leopard? I'd like to upgrade, yet keep the existing system installed. I am not referring to using an emulator like Parallels Desktop, I'm already doing that.
One of the things that's the most frustrating to me is the different terminology used. Took me awhile to figure out that Airport is wireless networking, and today I discovered that Automator appears to be a macro recorder. Yet I've got a friend who could never figure out the other terms but the Mac terms make perfect sense to her!! Go figure!!! LOL
And before someone suggests it, I bought a Leopard book last spring when I bought this Mac, but a summer job I took involved 10-12 hour workdays and I just haven't had the time or energy to get it read.
    Ken

Supported different Mac operating systems (and unix-like Linux for Mac) can be
booted in the same computer; in order for multiple Mac OS X systems to work,
they need to be in their own partition so as to not mix up their differences, and
applications that may work well in one may not do so well in another. So, each
OSX has its own Applications and other folders, in their own home partitions.
Snow Leopard 10.6.x is intended for Intel-based Macs; Leopard 10.5.x is the
last version supporting PPC-based Macs. Some PPC Macs did not like 10.5.
You could probably use a bootable externally enclosed hard disk drive to have
additional system(s) available for the computer, instead of reformatting the HD
& partitioning it for several systems. The OEM drive may be too small for more
than one OS installed, depending on the uses expected and storage demands.
Computers that can't support the latest OS X 10.6.x won't, and they can't use
an older OS X than the one they shipped with, the exact as-shipped version.
Some models can run several OSs including variants of Linux or unix for Mac,
and select supported OS X versions; plus older Macs running dualboot OS9/X.
The Support pages on the Apple site have helpful information on specific Macs
& other hardware, so that may be of help to read about each model in question.
Also, the free download offline database: http://mactracker.ca is fairly handy.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Differences between operational systems data modeling and data warehouse da

    Hello Everyone,
Can anybody help me understand the differences between operational systems data modeling and data warehouse data modeling>
    Thanks

    Hello A S!
What you mean is the difference between modelling after normal form like in operational systems (OLTP) e. g. 3NF and modelling a InfoCube in a data warehouse (OLAP)?
While in a OLTP you want to have data tables free of redundance and ready for transactions meaning writing and reading few records often, in an OLAP-system you need to read a lot of data for every query you do on a database. Often in an OLAP-system you aggregate these amounts of data.
Therefore you use another principle for these database scheme. This is called star schema. This means that you have one central table (called fact table) which holds the key figures and have keys to another tables with characteristics. These other tables are called dimension tables. They hold combinations of the characteristics. Normally you design it that your dimensions are small, so the access  on the data is more efficent.
the star scheme in SAP BI is a little more complex than explained here but it follows the same concept.
    Best regards,
    Peter

  • How to install English language apps with different language operating system?

    Dear Expert,
I have just purchased Adobe CC and downloaded the CC installer.
I cannot install Illustrator in English, because it automatically installs it in Hungarian (that is the language of Windows 7).
    I have tried to set
Preferences / Apps / Settings / App Language to International English and reinstalled and updated Illustrator, but
    it is still in Hungarian.
Could you please help me how to uninstall and reinstall it in English, please?
    Thank you,,

    Hi Jeff,
Thanks for your reply. I have an active membership - just managed to solve the problem with the help of Adobe customer support.
Basically, I had to uninstall Illustrator and the Creative Cloud installer, then deleted all Adobe folders and reinstalled the software.
Before downloading anything, I had to set up the 'Preferences/Apps/App Language' to International English, because it automatically switched to the language of the operating system.

  • Toggle between operating system no longer works

For some reason, I cannot use the "toggle method" of switching to windows anymore. I restart, holding down "option", but when I cannot select operating systems once both hard drives appear. I can still restart using System Preferences, but why does the other method no longer work?

  • Fonts different between CS3 and CS5 on Win7 system using the same fonts directory

I have several files created in Fireworks CS3 that work fine. Fonts are all  installed in the system directory on my Win7 box.  This used to be a WinXP Pro  box.
I can load a file into Fireworks CS3 without a single issue and the text all  looks perfect. The way it should.  Close CS3, open CS5 and load the same file  and CS5 tells me I have to update my fonts.  Why?  Same system, same fonts in  the same fonts directory. Only thing that's changed is that I'm opening the  file(s) in CS5.
The fonts do not look the same in CS5.  Am I going to have to redo every  Fireworks CS3 file so that it looks correct in CS5? If so, why?
    -- Bob
Here's a sample image the way it's supposed to look. The Swift gets hosed. PlazaDUtil is the font. I'd hate to have to redo all my logo files.

Prior to CS4 Fireworks used the Macromedia type engine. From CS4 forward, adobe introduced the adobe type engine to improve text handling/integration between FW AI and PS. As a result moving CS3 files over to cs4 forces FW to update the fonts.

  • Fonts different between java 1.3.1_01 and 1.4.2_02

I have upgraded to java 1.4.2_02 from 1.3.1_01 and most of my fonts now appear to be different. Do I really need to edit my application to make my fonts look like they did in the past or is there some sort of setting that will take care of this for me. For instance in 1.3.1_01 the font sansserif-bold-12, looks bold on my display. However in 1.4.2_02 it does not look bold. If I change the size to 14, then it does look bold.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

No upgrade to graphics card. I still have java1.3.1_01 installed and if I change the path to use java 1.3.1_01 my fonts look okay. When I change the path to use java 1.4.2_02, they are not bold.

  • Last changed date different between two systems after transport

Hi, first of all, I am not from basis background and just want to make sure whether is this something correct or not.
I found that the "Last changed date" and "username" are not same between the original system and the target system. Is this something configurable?
And the "username" field is totally empty. However, the program code's version is identical in both systems.

I think I misunderstood your question.  You are referring to the system Transports not the connections between systems.  If the Transports are not transferring all the contents, you really should talk to your basis folks and tell them which items are not being reproduced correctly.
    Regards,
    Mike

  • How to transport tagged jpg between Operating Systems  Mac/XP

I have tagged my jpg images with Adobe Bridge on a mac and have now sent the whole folder to a Windows7 user for him to use searching, but in is PC the search doesnt work.
If they open one of the jpg in photoshop they can see the file has KEYWORDS.
But if they look at the Windows 'properties' the e.g. keyword there are blank.
And (suprise suprise) Windows' 'Search' doesnt work.
What do we have to do?
Is it different if it was Windows Vista or XP?

I have tagged my jpg images with Adobe Bridge on a mac and have now sent the whole folder to a Windows XP users for him to use searching, but in XP the search doesnt work.
This means you have written data into a file and normal search procedure for the OS itself will not find this data due to limited search criteria. e.g. on a Mac  using Find it will not find the keywords either unless you specify this in your search using the option 'other' and then select 'keywords', don't know how it works on Windows but suspect not very different behavior.
But most photo applications should be able to read xmp data and IPTC info so that will have a better result.

  • Problems Switching Between Operating Systems.

I just had a copy of windows xp put on my mac book for school but for some reason I can't switch back to it. Since I'm not a admin I can't access the start-up disk and when I hold the option key and restart the computer all I get is a big pad lock on the screen. Right now I have no way of contacting the administrator until Tuesday. Is there any other way to access the windows OS? Thanks.

The iPhone has it's own OS, and syncing between Macs and PCs is not a problem. There's no formatting issue involved.

  • Transfer license between operating systems

I purchased Acrobat for Windows. That computer has died. Can I convert the purchase to the Mac I own?

As far as I remember previous responses, the answer is no. The only way to be sure is to contact Adobe. The MAC version is different and requires a different key.
