Fonts in In Design CS3

I have created a book in CS2. When I open it in CS3 it states that the fonts are missing. ie. it doesn't have them in the list. Obviously, using another negates the formatting and all the lines are incorrect lengths. The most important font is "Prestige Elite Std". Do I have to purchase this in order to use it again or can I somehow retrieve it from somewhere?

No. Just an upgrade program. And...actually, I just found them in Word. Do I have to move them into In Design somewhere?
Thanks

  • Can I use Type -- 'convert to outline' in Illustrator on Typekit fonts I've 'designated for desktop use'? I've not been able to as of yet.

I'm trying to print vinyl letters for a gallery I'm a member of and love the Cronos Pro regular font. i've designated this for desktop use and created 24 name files at 200pt. The person working with the vinyl asked if I could 'convert to outline' possibly to make the font a bit larger, I don't really know. When I tried to do this, I found that choice grayed out on the type menu. I am wondering if this means the Typekit fonts 'designated for desktop use' simply do not have the permission to be 'converted to outline'.

Cutting always requires proper paths/ outlines. This has nothing to do with the font or large format printing per se. Beyond that there should be no limitation in using fonts - as long as you can mangle them in AI, it means that somewhere those outlines exist internal to the program so the type can actually be rendered. Whatever prevents this may more likely be inherent in how you treat your text. you would have to provide more specific info on that. Either way, ask in the AI forum for more detailed answers.

  • Install a customer font - dynamic form design

    Hi all,
we set the parameter  gs_docparams-dynamic mit abap_true for generating the form, beause we locate some form objects dynamically. Now we need to embed our customer font other licenses (for the dynamic form design).
So, we installed the font (for dynamic design) on the ADS, but it is still the same problem, that the font is not embedded in the PDF.
Should the font be installed on the ADS and the client?
Do somebody have install instructions? ...or other ideas?
    Thanks in advance.
    Marc

    Hi,
What ever font you installed in ADS, Same font you need to install in your Desktop/Laptop where you are designing form.
Once the fonts are installed, they are visible  in your form and you can include the fonts  in the form.
Note: After Installing the font in ADS, you need to restart the ADS Service(Normally basis people will do this)
    Thanks.

  • Helvetica regular font missing in Photoshop CS3, but not in CS5 on the same computer

I have both Photoshop CS3 and CS5 installed on a Windows 7 64-bit system.  Photoshop CS5 has two Helvetica fonts: one TrueType and one Type 1.  The TT version only offers italic and bold italic styles.  The T1 font offers the full suite of bold, italic, bold italic (or oblique), and medium (or regular).  This seems odd, but it's sufficient.  Photoshop CS3, on the same computer, only offers me the Helvetica TT font, with just the two styles mentioned above.  Why can't CS3 see the T1 Helvetica?  Why does the TT Helvetica only show me two styles?  In case it's relevant, I believe the Type 1 version is the only one I deliberately installed, and I recently upgraded to a 2010 version of the font made available by Adobe (to resolve another issue with Microsoft Word 2010).
    Thanks in advance!

There is by default no Helvetica on PCs. Wherever those fonts come from, is some place else. Either another program installed them or you bought the font fron Linotype. The latetr is doubtful, of course, in light of what you stated. Aside from that you may wish to check your Adobe font directory (C:\Programm Files\Common Fiels\Adobe\Fonts) vs. your system font directory. For CS3 this would be relevant. Typefaces not showing up usualyl means that multiple fonts occupy the same name or the font system can't figure out things for otehr reasons...

  • How Do I Change the Font Size in Design View?

The font size when coding in Dreamweaver's "Design View" is
too small. How do I change the size in "Design View" to make it
bigger? I've found that you can change the code view in Preferences
but it has no way to change the font size in Design View.
    P.S.--I'm using DW8

    Hi,
By "a meeting notice", do you mean the Outlook meeting reminder? It's not possible to change the font in Calendar reminders. It's a system font.

  • Library Fonts not loading in CS3 under Snow Leopard

I just noticed this: Most of the fonts in the HD/Library/Fonts folder are not being read by CS3 applications. This includes old favorites like Verdana, Trebuchet, Arno Pro, etc. These fonts are being read by Apple apps like Pages and Text edit. Anyone else having this issue?
I think a solve would be for me to have my Font Management application load these fonts.
    Details:
I installed Snow Leopard on a freshly erased drive. Updated to 10.6.1. Installed CS3 Design Premium. Ran the Adobe updates (which was much more difficult than it should have been!)
    Thoughts, ideas, suggestions?

CS 4 and Cs 3 they load as expected on my Mac Pro? Tr resetting the preferences.

  • Fonts not appearing in CS3 program font lists

Certain postscript fonts (ZapfDingbats and Rubino Sans) are correctly installed in Windows 7 and available to Microsoft programs (Word and Excel) but not to Adobe programs. That is, they do not appear in any of the CS3 Design Standard applications (PhotoShop, InDesign, Illustrator) font lists when the application is open. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both the fonts and CS3 to no avail. I have added shortcuts to the Common Files/Adobe/Fonts directory to no avail. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I assume by PostScript fonts you really mean Type 1 fonts. (TrueType and OpenType fonts are every bit as much "PostScript fonts" as Type 1 fonts are!)
There is a known problem with the CS3 applications with all Type 1 fonts under all Windows Vista 64-bit and Windows 7 64-bit versions when such fonts are installed in the Windows System Font directory. The problem is fixed in CS4.
The workaround is to copy all the Type 1 font files (both the .PFB and the .PFM files - each Type 1 font has one .PFB and one .PFM file) to the Creative Suite's private font directory. Depending upon the CS version, that may be in
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts
                   or
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts
Restart the Creative Suite programs you are using and the fonts should appear.
You may also copy said fonts into the private font directories of the individual applications (typically a directory path ending with the node name Fonts.

  • Simulate Unicode Font in a Design

I'm creating a t-shirt and I want to use the typeface Unicode 6.0 UTF-8, or a substitute. I've searched a lot, and it looks like that font is used in programs like Dreamweaver, TextWrangler, etc., but I can't find where to download the actual font, to use in a program like Illustrator or inDesign.
This is an example, using OCR-A font, but I really want the Unicode.

Sorry, but that's not a typeface you're describing, but rather an encoding. Pretty nearly all fonts these days use Unicode. UTF-8 is a specific way of representing Unicode text.... "Unicode 6.0 UTF-8" is kind of like saying ASCII or MacRoman or Win-ANSI. It describes a character set and encoding, not the name of a typeface or a font.
I think that TextWrangler used to use Monaco as the default font. I think they may have changed to Consolas (the big sibling product, BBEdit, uses Consolas, hence my theory). I would check my installation, but of course the first thing I do is mess with the default font settings....
On the Mac, Dreamweaver CS 5.5 defaults to Times New Roman in preview, and Monaco in code view.
So I think what you may be looking for is Monaco, which is a Mac system font. It isn't available on Windows, however. The closest alternative that is more broadly available would be Mark Simonson's Anonymous Pro, which is modeled in large part on Monaco. Or you might even want the older version, Anonymous, which has an "a" more similar to Monaco.
These are both available at no charge from the designer (despite the URL):

  • How do I change font style in Illustrator CS3?

I am working on an EPS in CS3 and have three simple lines of text for which I would like to change the font style. How do I do that? I've highlighted the text using Arrow and/or "T" tools, and then selected different font styles from Type>Font...but nothing happens. Any simple suggestions for what I would hope is a simple issue? Thanks.

Scott Falkner, your answer was correct. The letters are outlined, not solid black. A new tool appears that looks like a magic wand, and it does allow me to select the outlined letters. However, font changes have no effect, which makes sense if the program does not recognize these as text any longer.
To answer your subsequent question, in my version of the software, a toolbar appears on the left (likely default, as I have never configured a special setting) that shows a black arrow in the upper left defined in the rollover as "Selection Tool (V)," and the second line below to the right shows a "T" defined as "Type Tool (T)." Those are the two tools I was using to select what I thought was the copy.
    Thanks everyone for your replies.
FYI Scott Falkner: although I tried to mark your answer "Correct," I got an "Unexpected error has occured " from the Adobe forum Web site, so your answer was marked "helpful" instead, which did not create an error.

  • How to keep the font in the design time appear in run time with forms 10g

    hi guys
did anyone know if we can keep the font we choose at
design time in form 10g r2
appear in runtime cuz the java applet transformer it to
fonts that it recognise and the original font disappear

You need to map the font you are using for development to one of the proper Java fonts that is used by the server by editing the related lines in the Registry.dat file located under the BI installation (of the iAS server) The file is located under the BI_HOME/forms/java/oracle/forms/registry/ subdirectory.
Here is an example from my Registry.dat file. I am using Helvetica when developing (I am on Linux for both iDS and iAS) and mapping it to Dialog (Java font). You can search this form and OTN white papers, I am sure you can find similar mappings for your font (for development) and deployment. I simply used trial and see method to find a solution for my case.
    # Default Font Face mapping.
    # appFontname represents a comma delimited list of Application Font Names.
    # javaFontname represents a comma delimited list of Java Font Names.
    # The number of entries in the appFontname list should match the number in
    # the javaFontname list. The elements of the list are comma separated and
    # all characters are taken literally, leading and trailing spaces are
    # stripped from Face names.
    # Note that this file uses the Java 1.1 Font names in order to be able to
    # handle the NLS Plane (BUG #431051)
    default.fontMap.appFontnames=Courier New,Courier,courier,System,Terminal,Fixed,Fixedsys,Times,Times New Roman,MS Sans Serif,Arial,Helvetica
    default.fontMap.javaFontnames=MonoSpaced,MonoSpaced,MonoSpaced,Dialog,MonoSpaced,Dialog,Dialog,Serif,Serif,Dialog,SansSerif,Dialog
    Hope this proves useful.

  • Installing fonts with In Design

Hi , I have installed new fonts on my computer. Then started to use them in In Design, all seemed good. Next time I went in the fonts were not there and not recognized. I went in and placed them into my computer fonts folder again. They were always in my fonts manager suitcase fusion.  Design now won't open correctly, but all the other programs seem to open ok, although I have not tried to use these new fonts in them yet. Have done the uninstall reinstall thing and still no good. Hoping someone has some ideas, thanks.

Without proper system information and other details like how you manage fonts nobody can tell you much. From your using an incompatible, outdated version of Fusion to a "bad" font messing up things to problms with duplicate fonts e.g. from TypeKit this could be anything. You need to be much more specific. Either way, ask in the ID forum and provide those details.

  • In Design CS3 - runs very slow on new Intel iMac

To open an existing In Design doc, or a a new doc takes forever. Has Adobe got problems with Intel Macs? Or is there some simple fix?

    Hi Douglas,
Adobe CS3 product line are Universal Binary apps and should usually run a lot better/faster on Intel-macs as the CS2 ones.
But also said that the CS3 apps are hungry for RAM, so how much RAM do you have ?

  • How to instal new fonts in LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2

    Hello All,
I am using LiveCycle Designer ES - 8.2 . I need a font called "HMGStempelGaramond" to be used in my form. Is it possible to instal the font into LiveCycle ? If yes, then how ?
    Thanks.

  • DW CS5 - what determines the font specs for design view (without Live View on)?

Says it all above. The non-Live View font I get bears no relationship to the font spec'd (and displayed) for the page in Live View. I assume I have a preference set wrong but can't find it.Help appreciated. - Jim

You won't see any custom web fonts in Design View, if that's what you mean.  Design View is not and never has been 100% reliable because it is not a browser.  At best Design View is an approximation of what you can expect to see in some browsers.

  • CS5 :: See font styles in Design view? Is this possible?

Dreamweaver CS5, Version 11.0, cannot view the correct fonts in Design Layout.
Should I be able to view the @font-face fonts while working in Design view?
    Online all fonts are fine.
In Page Properties, the fonts are present, they are installed properly on my Windows 7 system.
Just don't know if I should expect to see them while I design.
    Thanks.

Then you may have an error in your code that the browsers are ignoring, but DW can't rectify. Live view should be showing the fonts. You may also be missing the right font file for -Webkit browsers (what DW uses in Live View).
Depending on the browser versions you want to support, you should have at least two types of font files for older browsers, a .eot for IE and .ttf or .otf for the others. All of the most up to date browsers can use a single .woff file now days though.
Could you post a link to what you have so far?
