Fonts issue with Photoshop CS2

I'm not sure if my thread in the right forum, but I'm really having an issue with the fonts. It started when I installed MS Office for Mac, Safari was having problems with the fonts. So I referred to one of the posts in the Discussions and I used Font Finagler 0.5.3 to remove the cache fonts, and I deleted few fonts from Font Book, and deleting the fonts solved my issue with Safari. I'm not using Office any more, As I deleted the software.
Now, I've Installed Photoshop CS2, update it with the latest updates available. But I'm having an issue with the fonts! The issue is affecting only the Palette Names in the Palette Well, where the font size seems to be larger than its corresponding tab.
In order to fix the problem, I tried to temporary remove the Fonts folder from the library, restart my MAC, but nothing happen, except error messages of missing fonts in iWork!
I'm wondering if anyone has faced similar problem, or if there is any solution for such an issue.

Font issue in Photoshop CS2

Hi!
I just encountered a rather annoying problem I don't know how to solve. So far I couldn't find any solution on forums either.
Recently I got the new Intel-based MacBook Pro. Although I had known about the problems beforehand as well as about perfermance issues I now encountered a new problem:
My Photoshop CS2 doesn't render or save fonts properly anymore. They all look wrong.
This problem occured a few days ago and it's only when I create Text layers in Photoshop. When I import Illustrator or PDF files I have no problem but those are pixels or shape objects. The other programmes work fine, no problems with fonts there.
Does anyone know how I can solve this? It's a very big and urgent problem for me as I use Photoshop everyday! Thanks!

The fonts look pixelated and jagged. Even when I print or save them and open that PSD document on a different computer they look that way. I only experience this problem in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign are fine. I work on a MacBook Pro and run Mac OS 10.4.8 on it.
So far I tried to delete the Font Cache as well as Preferences and did a Repair Disk Permissions. No luck.
Not sure whether the driver for my scanner (Canon) that I had downloaded and installed might have cause these problems as this problem appeared afterwards.
I did a search for this problem but couldn't find any other suggestion then to reinstall Photoshop under a new user. Unfortunately I don't really see this as a real solution to the problem.

Resolution issues with Photoshop CS2

I work for a fashion wholesaler. I am currently in the process of completely a line list to sent out to our clients. The producer of our product has sent me their complied line list, but because we are the canadian distributor we have to edit the line list. I have gone through changing prices and images. I have saved the file the exact same way our the last girl (doing this job) would save the file (as a PDF 1a. 2001) and the image becomes pixellated when viewing in Reader. The original file is also a PDF. I have tried changing the resolution, saving the file different ways and nothing works. I even tried opening the file, not changing a thing, saving it, and opening it in reader to have the file pixelated. The original file is crystal clear when opened directly in reaer. I do not understand what I have done in order to cause such poor image quality. Any suggestions?

The OP probably has the suite that includes Acrobat and Photoshop. I believe only the images can be altered using the Photoshop Application. I don't know if this can be done in Elements. I've never done this which is why I didn't try to answer the OP directly.

Memory Problems with Photoshop CS2 - RAM not being utlized

I am having memory issues with Photoshop CS2. I have a G5 dual 2.5 with 8 GB of RAM. PS CS2 keeps hanging on me when I'm doing fairly routine tasks with a fairly complex low-res .psd file. It includes several nested layers...etc.
I noticed while running activity monitor that Photoshop is utilizing a very small percentage of my system's RAM. Approximately 475 MB of the total 8 GB RAM and 1.07 GB of harddrive space for the scratch disk. This seems odd as there is over 6 GB of free RAM while this is happening.
I've uploaded a screen capture of my activity monitor while Photoshop is hanging. Note that the CPU percentage is above 98%. That's an awful lot of RAM going unused.

Any idea what's going on here? Could it be a corrupt file or font?

Doesn't completely make sense as I've been using this particular machine for almost two years without any problems working in much more complex and much larger high-res .psd files. I doubt that's what the issue is here. I'm starting to think the file became corrupted...
Hard to believe that Adobe/Apple haven't issued a fix for the RAM issue yet.
I also run routine CRON maintenance using Cocktail and have no other issues with any software....

Mac Mini G4 with Photoshop CS2

I have a Mac Mini G4 512 MB of Ram. I want to get Photoshop CS2. Has anyone experienced slow response or issues with Photoshop CS2 on a Mac Mini G4?

I would recommend that you get some more memory on that Mac Mini. 512Gb is a small memory configuration for Photoshop on ANY machine. I run 2Gb on my dual proc G5 and it runs great. I imagine that as long as you don't try to process large files with it, you might be ok.
According to the Adobe site, you will experience slow downs on the Intel Macs due to the need to run emulator along with Photoshop. However, they say it will work. Don't expect to see a universal version of PS any time soon either. They say it will wait for the next major release of PS, 12-18 months out.
Anyway, good luck. I'd be interested in hearing of your results with PS on the Mini.

10.4.6 Issues with Photoshop and Boot Disk

Ok I'll add to the list of issues with the upgrade
I have two G5's in my studio that have developed since the upgrade 2 issues (so far)
Issue 1: Photoshop (CS2) will constantly crash when doing a 'save" or "Save as".
Doesn't matter what type or where (network or local).
Issue 2: Which I ran across trying to fix Issue 1
Neither will boot from a CD! (OSX INSTALLER: APPLECARE; DISKWARRIOR)
All I get is a kernal Panic across the Apple logo then the fans go into hyper speed till I force shut down!
This is no good, even if I wanted to at this point I cannot reinstall my old OSX

I ran FSCK as you suggested. Came up with a "Illegal Name" when checking Catalog File. I ran FSCK two more times as suggested till getting a "All Clear".
What would these "Illegal Names" be?.........
Yes, I have done permission repairs numerous times and have cleaned out caches all the usual stuff.
Anyway, this still does not resolve either my Photoshop issue nor my inabilty to run either my Applce Care Disk or Disk Warrior?..........
I am unable to snag the kernal panic during CD BOOT (Something about "We are hanging here").

I originally purchased this software several years ago. At time I was running Microsoft Windows XP.
This computer recently was replaced with a Dell running Windows 8.I reloaded my CS2 on this computer & it ran fine with a few exceptions as follows;
when the software comes up initially I get a message that says “could not complete your request because of program error”. Hitting OK allows me to continue using the software .
When I try to activate a function using CTLR or ALT keys I get this message “required application failed to load and the product cannot continue. Please reinstall the application”. This causes the application to abort.
Reloading my CS2 continues to generate the same messages when I depress the CTLR or ALT keys.

Your original copy is obsolete and Adobe is offering a free replacement you are entitled to. Download and use that and that should clear it up for you.

Can't Access Supplementary Editing with Photoshop CS2

I was a user of Elements3 for a long time mainly because I liked that the catalog's "edit with" feature worked with Photoshop CS2. I recently got a new PC with Windows 7 so I could not install PSE 3. I downloaded PSE9 trial version to see if all worked well and it was worth the purchase. The problem I am having is that I cannot seem to get my Photoshop (CS2) as a supplementary editing option. But if I don't add it like it says, there is not a Photoshop option when I go to the "edit with" list.
I don't know if this is right, but from the little bit of research I did it thinks I am trying to add Elements again because the Elements program exe file starts with "Photoshop" so when it reads the Photoshop.exe file it thinks it is a duplicate. I tried creating a copy and renaming the Photoshop.exe file which almost worked. Elements allowed me to select it as a supplementary editor and afterwards Photoshop was an edit option. I tried to edit a photo with it and while the program opened, it then got an error message and ended up closing before the photo came up for editing.
Can someone give me a fix to use Photoshop as my editor. I really liked how I could edit in PS and keep a neat catalog of edited versions with the Elements versioning capability. If I can't do it I probably won't end up purchasing the PSE9 program.

I have the identical problem trying to use Photoshop as the editor from Photoshop Elements 11.
Please can some-one let us in on the secret of how to get PSE to recognise that a full Photoshop is installed.

I'm having perhaps another/different font issue with Mail after updating to Snow Leopard.
I do have a Dell 24" LCD hooked up to my MBP. I've noticed the comments/links related to the font smoothing issues. I've played around with that with no noticeable change.
Check out the before & after pics. Anyone have thoughts?

Same issue here whenever I'm using a different color profile. Only the default color profile seems to work properly with the new sidebar in mail.

Odd font issue with Safari, iWeb

Ok, so I've been having this odd font issue with Safari for quite a while now, and I haven't been able to fix it. Some text on several different websites come up in a different font than the default font for Safari. I've tried changing the default font to something else, changing the text encoding and nothing. This has been happening with several releases of Safari.
Now, last night I discovered the same thing is happening with iWeb. Some of the text fields come up with the same font as the one in Safari! I don't even know which font it is. So somehow these are linked.
I'm at work right now, but I can get a screen shot of the font once I get home.
Any ideas on how to remedy this?

Font issue with Safari

I've read of others having font issues with Safari 5.1 and Lion, but I still have Snow Leopard and am having an issue with some fonts showing as a block of As. This occurred when I set up Suitcase Fusion 3, but I did not touch any system fonts. I was able to solve part of the issue with activating Arial in the font manager, but some areas still do not reveal font, most notably, areas marked for username/password on forms. Any ideas? Btw, I do not seem to have a problem in Chrome or Firefox.

Thanks, Carolyn. I use a third party font manager but disabling it is not an answer for me. I put some fonts back into the user folder (never touched the fonts in the system library) and resolved SOME of the "A" issues, but not all. I have no problem in Chrome or Firefox. I've tried multiple solutions in the past couple days, including this fix for sandboxing conflict http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-20087102-263/webkit-sandboxing-conflict-cau ses-safari-block-a-font-problem/ but then I got permission errors when I tried to change the file. I'm not even running Lion and I'm having this issue.

I actually created these fonts with fontagrapher in 1998 and have been using them regularly ever since and now they are not available in InDesign. I really need to use them.

On PostScript type 1 fonts you need to copy/move the fonts to the correct font folder because Font Book doesn't copy them into the folder. Select the fonts double-click the fonts and Find in the font Book app and validate.
The correct font folder depends how you are set up. I am by myself so my font folder was MyHarddrive/Library/Fonts. I was using Suitcas fusion and the fonts are located in a different folder.

Apple Symbols font not working with Photoshop CS2...

This seems rather strange to me, but only a few characters will type....I've tried 'option+key' - 'control+key' - shift+key and 'apple+key' ....and the ones that show up, I do not even see in the font book display of this font. I have done a search and found a document about "special characters and symbols", but could not find the described character palette in PS.
Should I be using some other key - like an F key or something?

Perhaps your script used to work under pre-OSX10.5 (AppleScript 1.x) but now fails under OSX10.5 (AppleScript 2.x)?
If so, the most likely cause is the drastic change in internal text handling between them. In AS2.x, internal text is Unicode only, which might prevent PSCS2 from resolving 'file path_string' descriptor (when path_string is assumed to be plain 'string', not Unicode text).
Try the following code instead -
tell application "Adobe Photoshop CS2"
open ("AV:logo:rot0001.png" as alias)
end tell
Or -
set a to "AV:logo:rot0001.png" as alias
tell application "Adobe Photoshop CS2"
