Fonts looks pixelated in the ipad

Hi, The font in the iPad looks very thin and not clear, whereas in the indesign it looks good. The font size is 14 pt Whitney Regular. Cay someone help me how to solve this issue.
Stan

Alex, it depends on the license you are using the fonts under. Sadly,
"nobody" knows what that means or cares about it. But it depends on the
type foundry you licensed the fonts from.

I have created a book in ibooks author with a custom font when previewing on the ipad the special characters within the font do not appear?

'custom' font sounds like you may be working with a font that is unsupported on iOS/iPad.
Supported fonts are found in the pull-down font menu in the toolbar. Authors are obligated (mostly) to stick to that list.

I get home after buying my ipad mini play with it for a bit then try to sync my songs, movies and photos on and it syncs fine. I then look back at the ipad and seem to find on the top right saying " not charging ". I read other forms and people also struggeling with the same problem. My computer dose'nt have enough power. There must be another way for me to get to charge my ipad mini from my computer. It works fine charging it in an outlet. any ideas??!

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. In rare instances when using the Camera Connection Kit, you may notice that iPad does not charge after using the Camera Connection Kit. Disconnecting and reconnecting the iPad from the charger will resolve this issue.

  • Something changed on my file and now my vector elements and fonts look pixelated in CS6

Today an illustrator file with vector objects and fonts that I've been working on for days looked pixelated when enlarging at more than 400%. I couldn't find the fix so I started a new canvas, selected everything from my pixelated file, pasted it into a new canvas and everything transferred correctly so I was able to continue working with my vector elements again.  I was curious if anyone knows what made my vector elements change to pixels and how to fix it.  Thanks guys

    You are welcome Miss Modular.
Even on web jobs people do not use that option too often, so really wish they would not assign a keyboard command to that, which is what I suspect happened to you.

  • Images look pixelated on my iPad

I'm making a small publication with simple interactivity and I'm having a hard time figuring out why my images look pixelated and blurry on my iPad. They are TIFFs, but tried converting them to PDF, PSD, PNG, and JPEG and all formats look the same or worse. I changed the resolution to 150 (they were at 72) and it still looks like, for lack of better word, crap.
I even tried laying out each photo in InDesign using the 1024x768 dimensions and exporting each image as an interactive pdf, since that seemed to work for the vector imagery I'm using, but it also looked really low resolution. Does anyone know why this is happening? I would greatly appreciate any advice. Thanks!

What size are you making your folio in Folio Builder Panel (FBP)? I assume you are testing on an iPad 3. Make sure the folio size is 2048x1536 in FBP. You can leave your InDesign document at 1024x768. Make sure the folio format is set to PDF too.

  • Fonts looking pixelated

I use my Photoshop Elements 10 for most of my design work. Just recently all my words are looking pixelated when I print the projects. I normally save them in jpeg at the maximum quality and print from there. What is causing this?

Have you somehow turned off antialiasing? Check the options bar.

  • Why does font looks pixelated when exporting motion template to FCP?

I created a motion template for some text animations and I also tried with just a motion file and when I added either one to FCP it just looks like crap (pixelated edges, really really bad edges)
I noticed this happens if you don't have a drop shadow or a glow selected on the fonts
is there a way to solve this?

  • Why do fonts look better on the stage?

I have a paragraph of text on the stage that looks good (Helvetica Neue, Ultralight), but when I play the movie it looks much thinner and really bad. Why does the text on the stage not match the movie?

If it is static text and you are using a dynamic textfield, try changing it to a static textfield.  Also, you may want to try different anti-aliasing settings for the textfield (via the properties panel).  If you are doing anything to filter the text, such as applying a drop shadow, this can also impact the appearance.  If all else fails, try a different font.

  • Clickable Links looking odd on the ipad.

When you use a smart phone or tablet device I notice my new site has an odd issue with some of the links.  The little highlite box seems to only highlight half of the box.  Not sure why this seems to happen to some links while others are fine.  I put up the basic part of my site.  I have no media stuff up. I'm just looking to fix everything else before moving on.  Thats when I noticed this happening.  If you click on not the top row of side bar links but the second row labled Gallery and down.  On tablet/smart phones the boxes  highlighted about half of what the box should,      http://www.markspetcare.com

  • Fonts on the iPad

Is there a way to get more fonts on my iPad without jail breaking?

    No.
However I think it is possible possible to have fonts not available on the iPad display via embedding them in web pages and apps.

  • Any best practices for the iPad mini????

I am in the beginning stages of designing my mag for the iPad.... now the iPad mini seems to be all the hype and the latest news states that the mini may out sell the larger one.
So... I know that the dimensions are 1x1 on bumping down to the smaller screen... but what about font sizes? what about the experience? Anyone already ahead of the game?
I have my own answers to these questions, but any one out there have some best practice advice or links to some articles they find informative...

I think 18-pt body text is fine for the iPad 2 but too small for the iPad mini. Obviously, it depends on your design and which font you're using, but it seems like a good idea to bump up the font size a couple points to account for the smaller screen.
For the same reason, be careful with small buttons and small tap areas.
I've also noticed that for whatever reason, MSOs and scrollable frames in PNG/JPG articles look great on the iPad 2 but look slightly more pixelated on the iPad Mini. It might just be my imagination.
Make sure that you test your design on the Mini.

  • Create DVD menu in Photoshop - font show pixels

I googled and search this forum and feel not help me at all.
I created DVD menu in photoshop (CS4) for DVD Studio Pro 4. I selected Film & Video NTSC DV widescreen(SD). Export file as .tif. Create DVD. Font look pixel on HDTV. Is there a way to improve menu looks for HDTV even DVD final output is SD 16:9? Is there guideline?

When you go into Photoshop, make sure that you select a high def alternative to create your menu, not SD.
Create a new file, select Film and Video and look in the list for HDV 1080p or HDTV 1080p as a start point. If you use anything else, you won't get the resolution that you need for HD.

  • All fonts look awful

New Mac Mini. Mac OS X Leopardo di Snowio latest update.
    Using 1080p, on a 1080p monitor.
    *All fonts look awful*
System font (top bar, finder, everywhere) Safari as well. Everything.
    Fonts look pixelated.
Didn't do any font change myself (removed nothing).
Is it due to the install of Final cut xpress / Aperture ?
Could it be the install of a Brother Laser printer?
    Thanks for your help.
NB All graphics at the bottom / everywhere look perfect. Only fonts is the problem.

I think your font smoothing may be messed up a bit. That happened to some people when when upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard. From the picture you posted, it appears the fonts are a bit more jagged than they should be. Here are the instructions I copied from another Mac Web site a long time ago. They aren't mine but I have used them successfully.
If you’ve got an LCD panel that you think looks worse than it did before upgrading to 10.6, you can try this fix to see if it makes things better. How? Just open Terminal (in Applications -> Utilities) and paste this command, then press Return:
defaults -currentHost write -globalDomain AppleFontSmoothing -int 2
The 2 at the end is equivalent to the old “Medium - Best for flat panel” setting in 10.5. You can also use 1 for light smoothing, and 3 for strong smoothing. This change will only affect newly-opened applications—anything already running will have to be restarted to see the affect of the changes. As such, you may want to experiment with a document in Text Edit, trying the three alternatives, and then after you find the one you like best, rebooting your Mac (so that it will take effect system wide).
Note that if you go back into the Appearance panel and toggle the font smoothing setting, you will override your manually-set value—so don’t do that if you value your newly-smoothed fonts.

  • Basic step-by-step to create pinch and zoom articles for the ipad?

    Hi all,
I'm new to Adobe's Digital Publishing Suite. I'm converting a print publication into an ipad app for my employer.
I've selected PDF in the "Default Image Format" when creating a new folio in Folio Builder. And ticked the PDF pinch and zoom box in viewer builder.
However, I'm unable to get the pinch and zoom to work. Instead of zooming, a magnifying glass with a line through it pops up.
Could it have something to do with the Indesign file's dimensions versus the dimesions set in Viewer Builder? I've tested multiple sizes for both, yet
I'm unable to find what the trick is... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm seeing the same problem on my end.  I select PDF as the image format when I upload the folio, but when I view it on the iPad the text looks pretty shoddy and I can't pinch and zoom.  I really don't care about the pinch-n-zoom so much, as I do with getting a better quality rendering of my text.
I don't have smooth scrolling selected.
Nevermind - I see what the problem was.
I had a single page folio, that was set to smooth scrolling as a defaul in the Folio Producer and it would not allow me to change it.  I added a second page to the folio, and suddenly I could turn smooth scrolling off.  Problem solved I guess?
I'm sill not very happy with the way fonts are rendered on the iPad.  Maybe it will look better once the iPad3 with retina display is released.

  • Why does iTunes tell me that I have tons of memory available (30 GB) on my iPad (when I plug it in to my computer), but when I check my storage directly on the iPad (under Settings/General/Storage), I only have 3GB?

This is driving me nuts.  I need to "rent" some flicks for a trip, but my iPad (64GB) tells me I have insufficient memory.  Checking under Settings/General/Usage, I find 3GB free.  I hook it up to my computer (iTunes) and clear out pretty much everything (audio, video, extra apps, etc) and iTunes then tells me I have 30GB available.  Yes, I hit apply and the darn thing synches just fine.  Disconnect and look back at the iPad, and viola - only 3GB available.  ARRRRGGGHHHH!

Sounds like you should restore your iPad.  For one thing, that will bring it up to current iOS rev (6.1.2).  For another, that should clean out any junk and further make sure the two numbers you're referring to agree.
By the way, a viola is a musical instrument in the violin family.  The word you're looking for is voila
