Fonts not recognized on a specific port

Hi,
We have a indesign server running as a service on two ports. When we try to process a indesign document on a 18383 port, it says certain fonts not available. But, if the same document is processed through 41000 port, fonts missing error doesn't come up.
On changing the port from 18383 to 42000, it worked fine. Is there any reason for the port not able to find the fonts in the system?
Thanks.

Hello,
Has anyone faced a similar problem before? We need to know the reason for this as if this happens in the future, we should be able to have the solution in hand.
Thanks

  • PostScript Fonts not recognized in OSX 10.4.3

I recently installed FontExplorer X and noticed that all Postscript fonts are not recognized, not even by Fontbook. I had the same problem on a PC when ATM wasn't installed but OS X should recognize them.
Before this happen, I was also trying to delete the Adobe Illustrator tryout because when you try to install the full version it won't install unless its gone. I had to delete files from several places and I wonder if that had anything to do with this.
One question is, does OS X come preinstalled with ATM (Adobe Type Manager) or does the OS just recognize it natively. I thought maybe I deleted ATM in one of the Adobe folders.
Something else I noticed is the System Postscript fonts are recognized. So its just the ones I have installed on the system.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    12" Powerbook   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Sorry, cgriff44. I didn't address some of the questions in your original post. I'll be more specific this time.
I think the problem is a bit deeper than that. OS X isn't recognizing Postscript fonts period. ... I have over 13,000 fonts and not one postscript font works (except the system postscript fonts).
As noted in your first post, you may indeed have thrown something out OS X needs to handle PostScript fonts. It's hard for me to say, of course, since I didn't see what you tossed. But there's a bit of confusion in your statement about the system fonts. If you mean the ones in the OS X /System/Fonts/ folder, then those aren't PostScript fonts at all. They're almost all .dfonts (a TrueType variation). As are all of the fonts in the /Library/Fonts/ folder. If you have OS 9 (Classic) installed, all of the ones installed by default are also TrueType. Albeit, the older Classic variation.
One question is, does OS X come preinstalled with ATM (Adobe Type Manager) or does the OS just recognize it natively.
OS X handles PostScript fonts natively, there is no need for ATM in OS X. Nor does it exist for OS X. However, if you work with PostScript fonts in Classic apps, you do need to install the OS 9 version of ATM.
Since you have so many fonts, I can probably assume you're well aware that the suitcase of screen fonts and printer fonts must be together in the same folder in order for a given PostScript font to work. That they don't seems to point to a fault with the OS. You may have to resort to reinstalling OS X to fix it. If you do, make sure to use the Archive and Install method. Also making sure to turn on the check boxes to preserve your user settings and preferences.

  • Font not recognized in LightRoom

    Hello all--
I have loaded a font onto my OS and although Word (etc) recognizes the font, LightRoom does not. Has anyone else come across this issue? Help!
    Thanks!

Not all fonts are recognized by Lightroom.  Try a different font.

  • 9300 not recognized at the USB port

    Hi all,
    please look at this issue..
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Curve/curve-9300-3G-not-recognized-at-USB-Port/td-...
    Thx

My iphone 4, when plugged into my windows xp laptop, wasn't recognised. "USB Device Not Recognised". I was obviously concerned I had just bought a broken iPhone 4...
However, I used a different Apple USB cable and it worked first time on the same windows xp laptop and in the same USB port. The cables look different, the first one had a rounded USB head cover, maybe it was a iPod one (I did buy the phone from eBay). The second, and working cable, has a square USB head cover. I don't know if that is important or not but hopefully the same solution will work for you.
If not, there is a video here that suggests an alternative solution.

  • Why is my iPhone not recognized on my USB port?

When I try to connect my iPhone 3G to my computer absolutley NOTHING happens. No error message no beeping from windows that it detects a connection, and I definitely cannot see it in my iTunes. I have tried restarting the phone, resetting the phone, restarting the computer, restarting the computer with my phone connected, reinstalling iTunes/Quicktime, plugging the cord into different ports on my computer (not my keyboard) and still nothing. I have an external drive with a USB port connection that is recognized when I plug it in the same USB ports. One would think it was the USB cord but the strange thing is I can use the same USB cord plugged into my phone and the adapter in the wall and it charges. I just can't update the software or add songs to my iPhone.
    Anybody know what's going on?

Ok so I tried creating a new user account with administrative priviledges on the same computer and still nothing. I called apple tech support and spent about an hour on the phone with them and they are baffled as to why this is happening too. Their only suggestion was to replace the phone. So unless someone else has had this same problem and knows hows to fix it, or just knows of something that apple doesn't, I'm screwed!
Just out of curiosity, I tried connecting my phone to another computer to get the 2.2 update and it worked. So I updated my phone's software and tried plugging it in again and still nothing. Also, I tried connecting someone elses iPhone 3G to my computer with the same USB cord and my computer recognized their phone. So it must just be my phone and my computer don't like each other for some reason!
Here's the full scenario before the connection issue (just in case someone knows something I don't):
I was having problems updating my iTunes to version 8.0.2. It wouldn't fully install quicktime and without quicktime you can't run iTunes, in fact, iTunes won't even open. I got an error message that said I needed to repair or reinstall quicktime. So I completely deleted iTunes and quicktime software from my computer and reinstalled the version that is downloadable from apple's website (which is NOT 8.0.2). I got it loaded and alas iTunes finally opened. So I connected my phone and started updating to the 2.2 version of iPhone software. Then a window popped up saying I needed iTunes version 8.0.2. So I started that download as well. Then I walked away to let it download the updates needed for my phone and iTunes. I came back 20 min later and my computer had restarted itself (I'm assuming after the iTunes update it did that) and was at the login screen. So I logged in and my iPhone would then not connect to my computer after that. I unplugged and plugged it back in and I got a beeping noise but not the normal beeping noise a computer makes when you connect the USB cable. It beeped three times in the same lower tone instead of the 2 beep 2 tone you normally get. I realize in hind site that was probably not a good idea but I asked the apple tech I talked to and he said that shouldn't have been a problem even if the 2.2 iPhone update hadn't fully installed and had been interrupted. So there's my full story! Thanks for helping me out!!

  • Old fonts not recognized under Leopard

I have a number of old T1 and Mac TrueType fonts that aren't recognized under Leopard. They worked fine under OS X through 10.4, but now are either showing up as type "Unix Executable File" with a generic black executable icon, or as a plain white icon with the type "Document". The files sizes appear to be correct, i.e. the issue is not zero length files. Since the OS doesn't present these files as fonts, font editors don't recognize the files as something they can open, either.
Anyone else running into this problem? Anyone have any suggestions?
    Thank you.

I've seen that thread, and in the end it seems to boil down to being careful when transferring files over a network. That didn't happen to my files, they never moved, and they worked under 10.4 and don't under 10.5.
I have noticed something new, though: the fonts that don't work show a greater-than-zero size in the Finder, but a zero file size when listed under the Terminal, i.e. the command line utility 'ls' shows these files as having a zero length, but the Finder shows the correct size.
So, it looks like a resource-fork-related issue, but it's not a case of a missing resource fork. The Finder sees the correct file size, but no longer recognizes or identifies the files correctly. Weird.
    Any suggestions?

  • InDesign CS6 OSX linked fonts not recognized

I am using InDesign CS6 on Mountain Lion and I received a document from a PC InDesign user with a linked AI image and document fonts folder included. When I launch the idd file the fonts are "missing".
OSX does not seem to recognize the font files in the document fonts folder as proper font files. In Finder they appear as Unix executable files..
I've tried disk repair/permissions repair, but neither seems to fix the problem.
    Any ideas? Thanks!

Sounds like thy may be Windows Type 1 postscript fonts, in which case you would need to install them (both halves) into ID's private fonts folder.

  • Fonts not recognized after restore...

Earlier today I had to replace the hard drive in my Mac, and then restored all my files/apps from an external hard drive with Time Machine. The problem I have is that none of my previous fonts are found by any of my applications. When I open Font Book, all my fonts are there...but for example, when I opened Word or Photoshop, no fonts appear in the drop down menus besides the default system fonts.
I double-checked the user>library>fonts folder, and all my fonts are there. What could be causing this???

    Cricket311 wrote:
The hard drive going bad happened very suddenly with no rhyme or reason. It was working perfectly fine one day, and the next day it wouldn't boot up. I brought it into the Apple store and had their Genius Bar take a look and they weren't able to repair the hard drive.
If your last backup was late the day before, it's possible something got corrupted.
Do you get the fonts into those menus by some sort of selection process? If so, you might want to look for their preference files. Look at a backup from earlier in the day, or even a day or two before the failure.
Most likely, there will be a file (or files) in +*<your home folder>/Library/Preferences,+* and/or +*<your home folder>/Library/Application Support+* containing the name of the app, or perhaps the name of the maker, and ending in .plist.
It's also possible they'll be not in your home folder, but the top-level Library/Preferences and/or +*Library/Application Support+* folders.
You might want to start with a Finder window, in List mode, of your home folder, then +Enter Time Machine+ and navigate to the folders in question. When you find something that looks promising, right-click it and take the +Quick Look+ option. If it has something that looks like a list of fonts, that may be the culprit. To restore it, click the Restore button at the bottom right.

  • Fonts not recognized in Dreamweaver

I have purchased and downloaded Linotype fonts from fonts.com (webfonts) and installed the TTF on my system for mocking up and building out websites. The fonts display in the font list and work just fine in Photoshop and Illustrator, but when I move on to Dreamweaver they are unavaliable to be added through the CSS "edit font list...".  I have also attempted to add the TTF file as a webfont which does allow it to be added to "edit font list..." but still it will not display as a style in Dreamweaver CS6 layout view. Also I did attempt to look into the Adobe Webfonts but they do not offer Univers Condensed which is the font group I need for a large corporate website. There are actually serveral fonts that I've run in to this issue with, they display and work fine in Photoshop but not in Dreamweaver. Is there a solution for this or is it just a major flaw in Dreamweaver?

    Hi
You have to use live view to preview web-fonts.
Font usage on the web is not the same as in a graphics program, normally unless the user also has the font installed the web page will not display the font, (this is why Dw does not show the font outside of live view).
It is also becoming possible to 'block' downloadable fonts from downloading, as users, (especially mobile devices) do not wish to use the extra bandwidth they cost. Downloadable fonts that use javascript, such as Edge or Goggle fonts, only require javascript to be disabled for them not to 'show', (javascript disabling is becoming common practice for many corporations/company's that allow employees to 'surf' the web).

  • Tahoma font not recognized in Flash CS4

Ok, here is my current problem I wanted to use Cs4 to edit a flash template but noticed it kept saying I did not have tahoma font installed. I checked the font folder and I did have the font installed on the system but nevertheless I reinstalled it which did not fix the problem so I manually mapped/substituted it to the Tahoma I had on my system but noticed the fonts still appeared off when I published. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software and it still occurs. Do you have any suggestions?

  • Postscript fonts not recognized in Snow Leopard

a problem that I have since installing Snow Leopard is that certain fonts are not showing as fonts and font book can't load them. True Type and Open Type fonts are fine the problem is with postscript, has anyone else had this happen or know of a workaround, thanks?

I am having a similar issue. After transferring previously working fonts from my old Mac running Leopard to my new machine with Snow Leopard I cannot get Frutiger to work. When trying to install the font certain cuts are being ignored and the cuts that are loaded have serious errors. This did not happen on my previous machine. Is this an error with the operating system?

  • Individual fonts not recognized properly when opening a MAC FLA file on PC

I'm getting a missing font warning when opening an FLA file
even though I have all the necessary fonts. The problem is that
    while I have MyriadPro-Bold, MyriadPro-BoldIt, MyriadPro-Semibold
on my machine, they only show up in Flash as the Typeface names of
Myriad Pro (first two), and Myriad Pro Light (last one).
I don't want to have to go through an entire file and apply
bold and italics to anywhere they exist, so I'm hoping there is a
way to map these properly. Adobe Type Manager shows all these fonts
properly when I open it, so I don't understand why Adobe's version
of Flash can only see the font family and not the individual fonts.
Hopefully someone out there has had the same problem and can
    help me figure this out.

I know this thread is a bit old, but I wanted to share my experience and solution in case anyone else runs into this.
The other day, I spent many hours editing some photos for a client. I saved them all and closed Photoshop. When I tried to open the .PSDs, they all came up with this "Not a valid Photoshop document" error. I was freaking out. I could see the thunmbnails and previews with the MacOS Finder and could see the images just fine in Lightroom, but couldn't open them in Photoshop CC.
Finally, I remembered that these were NOT supposed to be .psd files! They were supposed to be TIFFs. What happened was, when I edited them from within Lightroom into Photoshop, they opened as TIFFs. However, when I did "save as", I wanted to name them similarly to some other files I had. I clicked on one of the existing files to copy the file name in the Save As dialog to make it easier to name the new file I was saving, but I didn't realize it was changing the file extention from ".tif" to ".psd" as well. The older MacOS (version 9 and earlier) didn't rely on file extensions fo identifying file types, so it didn't hit me right away that this would be the problem. When I changed the incorrect .psd file extension to .tiff, the files opened in Photoshop just fine.
SO... if you run into this "Not a valid Photoshop document" error, try figuring out if it's actually another file type (.jpg, .tif, .png, etc) by either getting the file info from another program or just experimenting with different file extensions. Chances are good that your file isn't actually corrupt, but just named improperly!

  • Font not recognized by Word whereas accepted by Mac book of fonts

Under Snow Leopard, Word for Mac doesn't recognize a new font which is duly accepted by the "book of fonts" of Mac. (By the way font is Max's Handwritin which works perfectly under Windows). could somebody help ? Tks in adv!

Many thanks for the 2 ideas. Switch off the Mac and reopen Word does not solve. I am reluctant to reboot the MBP as I do not understand enough IT. I would not like to create others problems I couldn't solve. If there is not an easy way to get this font, well I think I would prefer ... using another font. Has somebody another easy idea ? Tks in adv.

  • Stupid me! Font not recognized.

I know, I know, I'm just an ignorant newbie with webdesign and I have probably messed up what I intended to do. Maybe someone can help me out.
Dreamweaver CS4 shows this Live View of the heading of my page:
That is - initially - how I would like it to show up. There are further enhancements I would like to do, but for this moment, let's concentrate on this issue.
Now, when viewing this page from the website, where it is located for testing purposes, http://ppbm5.com/Poffertjes.html , it shows up like this:
This happens with Chrome, Firefox and IE on every computer that does not have the font installed that is used in the DW screenshot. The font is ChopinScript btw. If the font is installed on the computer, all browsers have no problem in displaying this correctly.
So the question is: What do I need to modify or do so that the second line of text shows up in an intended script font (old-fashioned one) on all systems? Change the font to something else, make other changes?
For my next question, I'll make a separate thread, but I hope someone can tell me where I messed up big-time on this issue.

The use of anything but web-safe fonts has several obstacles.   Copyright infringement being the main issue.  Supporting all the major web devices is another.  IMO more work than it's worth.
If you're committed to this and don't want to use an image, check your font licenses carefully before using them on the web. You don't want to put yourself or your client in financial jeopardy over misuse of someone's fonts.

    Hi,
you can start with checking the status of serverfarm "vip-https" and also check the position of class map "vip-https_CLASS" in polic map "POLICY". Ideally it should be before the  class map "vip_1-CLASS" as the later one is hitting port any, and earlier one is designated for TCP port 11443. So if position of class map matching VIP any is above the "VIP 11443", you will never get HIT on this VIP.
    hope you got my point...
