Fonts not smooth

Dear all,
Is there a way to enhance the print-out fonts of CF Report
Builder? On the screen it is quite smooth (FlashPaper), but when I
do the printing (to printer or PDF) all characters are not that
smooth.
I use the same font (Arial) and font size on Crystal Report
or Microsoft Word, they give me smooth print-out. It tells me there
is no problem with my printer driver.
Is there a solution for this?
Thanks in advance
Keiko

Hi Keiko,
Try setting the "scale" property in your <cfdocument>
tag.. That may help...

  • PDF exported from Pages (mountain lion) results in jagged font not smooth

    I am using Mac air mid-2012 + Mountain Lion (OS X 10.9.4) + Pages (5.2)
I used Arial - Regular - font 12 pt to write a resume. After I export to PDF the font on pdf looks anti-aliased, jagged not smooth on 100% scale. The font in Pages is ok.
I export the same file to *.doc and opened it with OpenOffice and export to PDF using OpenOffice, the font looks no problem.
I have the option "Use LCD font smoothing when available" option checked in system preferences.
Does anyone have the same issue?

This is a known issue in Pages 5's tables. Pages 5 has been out for 9 months now and there is no sign of Apple fixing the issue.
Use Pages '09 if you have it.

  • Font not smooth at printing

    Hello all,
    Need help!
I need to print some text from a swing application.
My problem is that on printing somme of the letters are not so smooth.
I've tryed using antialiasing but then they become blurry.
    g2d.setRenderingHint(RenderingHints.KEY_TEXT_ANTIALIASING,
RenderingHints.VALUE_TEXT_ANTIALIAS_ON);With the same font (Arial black, 12) in ms word it prints perfectlly.
How to make the text smooth?
I think this is an alread solved question, but I did not found a solution so far.
    Lots of thanks
    Bogdan

Rumors say that it is absolutely necesary to turn off double buffering before printing ANY Swing/Graphics objects as it will result in VERY long printing time plus bad resolution. If you have many objects you might want to turn double buffering off globally before priting and turn it on afterwards.
    RepaintManager currentManager =
      RepaintManager.currentManager(c);
currentManager.setDoubleBufferingEnabled(false);Afterwards you set it true again.
    Always worked fine for me.
    Take care,

  • Fonts in titles not smooth

When I design a title slide, the fonts look smooth. When click the Add button to apply the title, the fonts change to rough. What's going on?

definitely...this is absolutely true. Which is why:
If it's really important to me, I will make a post titles test export in full quality (nowadays called "share", but it's a dippy word for it) AND ALSO...if I am making the movie for a specific purpose, like for my webpage or for specifically putting on YouTube, I will export share a version of my movie in the same settings, size and all that I will ultimately use just to see how it will look. oh yeah, btw, crayon box blue looks bad too. kinda bleedy in smaller sizes. So you have to think-plan-do your projects. seems kind of strange to have to be so left brained in some circumstances where it was so right brained a conception, but this is definitely carefully considered left brained functions and you have to think with the software. Not just expect it to think for you. Though, I suspect that is where the new frontier of iMovie is actually going and I hate it. I like the right brain/left brain harmony of making of movie. It's fun to me.

  • LibreOffice Fonts Not Rendering Smoothly

This is kind of hard to explain, but in LibreOffice Writer (GNOME) the fonts don't seem to render smoothly when changing to zoom factor.  It's like when you zoom in, rather than adjusting the font size smoothly, the letters just end up looking bold.  They only look normal at <=100%.  It's strange.  This issue occurs for all fonts.
    Any help is appreciated!

For some odd reason, Elements stopped rendering my fonts properly.  For instance, if I use an old standby like Rage Italic, the lettering is not smooth rather choppy like an old System type font.  I've tried uninstalling and then reinstalling but nothing seems to work.  I also reset the tools and still nothing.

  • When using a path, jagged lines, not smooth lines, uneven lines

    I am using a Mac, photoshop CS5
I created a path with Curves with the pen tool.
filled it in with a color light blue.
than I use the paint bucket to change it to dark blue.
This is when the curved lines become jagged, not smooth, uneven.
also I would like to use this as a mask, but with bg color changing from time to time.
    any solutions?
    GC

Enable the retain transparency option when applying fills or use alternate colorization methods like using adjustment layers or creating the layer as a shape layer in the first place. Not sure what you mean by your mask thingy. You simply load the selection by Ctrl+clicking on teh layer thumbnail. this works no different than with any other layer.

  • Some fonts not showing up on Mac

I produced an e-book on typography for maps. It was produced on a PC and converted to pdf using the PowerPoint 2007 Save As PDF option. My customers who are on PCs have not had any trouble viewing all the fonts shown in the e-book exactly as they should be. However, two of my Mac customers (perhaps more, I do not know) are having black boxes show up where the letters should be. This only happens for certain fonts. For example, AUdimat (OpenType) is not showing up but Gentium Plus (OpenType) is. The fonts are embedded in the file. Any ideas? Thank you so much for any help you can provide.
It may even be that the fonts are showing up in regular mode (the customers have Acrobat Pro, I believe) but not when it prints or is in Preview or QuickLook. It is a mystery to me.

I originally thought it was a Mac versus PC issue but now (re: previous comment) it looks to be that the Save as PDF option did not save all the fonts. Some of the fonts saved were OpenType some of the fonts not saved were OpenType. So it doesn't appear to be an OpenType issue. If I were to purchase Acrobat Standard or Pro would I be able to embed all the fonts? Maybe it is because I am using PowerPoint 2007's Save as PDF that is the problem but I am just not sure. I tried signing up for Adobe CreatePDF but then found out that my file size is too big for that program (it's 12 mb whereas the file size limit for Create PDF is 10 mb). Thanks again for reading...

  • Fonts not embedding when "save as" pdf

Version: Photoshop CS4 64 bit on Windows Vista 64.
Issue: fonts not getting embedded during conversion to pdf.
I am attempting to save files for commercial printing in Photoshop pdf format (file-save as-pdf). In the past, using previous versions of Photoshop, the fonts have always been embedded in the pdf document when I choose the "Press Quality" pdf preset. However, now, even when I simplify my Photoshop source file down to the most basic level (one non-background layer with one line of type using a font I KNOW has successfully embedded before) the resulting pdf reports NO embedded fonts (no fonts at all, actually) and when sized up a great deal in Acrobat Pro shows pixelation as though the type was converted to a graphic. If I open the resulting pdf file in Photoshop the text is still editable though...
I have Photoshop files that were built using a previous version of Photoshop (CS2). When I open these in Photoshop CS4 and save as pdf the fonts are embedded just as they always were so the problem lies not with the CS4 version of Photoshop itself but rather with NEW files created by it. It seems that any NEW files I create using Photoshop CS4 wil not embed their fonts when saved as pdfs.
    Help !!?!! (example file attached)

Good points. To test that out I tried substituting different non-commercial fonts (Arial, Tahoma, Times, etc.) and then saving as a pdf. No matter what fonts I try they don't get embedded. So that would seem to rule out the idea that Photoshop CS4 is now restricting the embedding of fonts to non-commercial ones.
I have poured through the save-as-pdf options in GREAT detail - have tried many various options and don't see any settings that have either made a difference or seem relevant. According to Adobe documentation anytime you select "Press Quality" as the preset the fonts should automatically be embedded.
The really odd thing is, if I take a psd file that was originally created using a previous version of Photoshop, delete all the layers and then create one single line type layer so that it is identical in every way to my CS4 test file, any font I select gets embedded when I convert that file to pdf - same exact pdf preset - all file settings the same - everything! - except that it was originally created using a previous Photoshop version.
    Does that make ANY sense??

I assume you have tried toggling the setting in Firefox between Outlook and, say, Gmail:
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Options > Applications
In the search box, type or paste '''mailto''' and pause for the list to filter.
Change the setting and OK to save it, then return to the dialog, change back, and OK again.
You also might want to toggle the setting at the OS level between Microsoft Outlook and the native Windows Mail client in a similar fashion. In Windows XP you could use IE's Options dialog, Programs tab, for this, but I'm not sure in Windows 7.
Since one possibility is a problem in your Firefox settings (including the possibility of interfering add-ons), and another is a problem at the Windows level (e.g., Registry settings), it would be useful to try to identify which one it is. One quick way to distinguish is to create a new Firefox profile. It will start up with all factory settings. You can switch back to your existing profile after testing.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
After closing Firefox, start up again in the Profile Manager as described in this article: [http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles Managing profiles].
With the new profile, can Firefox successfully create a message in Outlook?
