Fonts on an iPad

Hi all,
IPad UG has no information how to handle Fonts. So I have these questions:
How can I list the installed fonts?
How can I install new fonts (Truetype, Opentype)?
Thanx in advance.
SG

Hello pvonk,
so my problem is more focussed now. In HTML formatted mail, downloadable fonts seem to be rarely used. So my iPad does not display correctls fonts of less than 8pts and nearly all Windows fonts. So, is there a possibility to add these fonts to iPad mail? Multipart MIME does not know "font-parts", AFAIK.
Thanx again.
SG

It's a lot easier with Photo Manager Pro.

  • Can you change the default font in an iPad mail account?

I suspect you can't, but just checking: can you change the default font in an iPad mail account?

There is no way to change the default font in the mail app. You can make the type larger by using the accessibility feature of larger text. Settings>General>Accessibility>Larger Text. There is an app that allows you to add fonts to the iPad, but I do not think this works with the built in iOS apps such as mail.
    You can check it out.

  • How to adjust the font size of iPad in printing a web page.

How to adjust the font size of iPad printout of web pages ?

In HTML Header I put textDid you mean Page Header Text? It wouldn't have done much of anything at all in the HTML Header...
However, the font doesn't do anything.Yet another universal selector problem: see +{message:id=4184109}+
How do I overwrite the style sheet? I am wondering if I change the default style sheet, does that also affect the other pages, which is not what I want. In that case you can just include the CSS inline, which will also get round the universal selector issue. You are also recommended to use a semantic HTML element instead of deprecated presentational elements like <center> and <font>. Assuming this text is the primary heading on the page, use <h1>:
    <img src="#WORKSPACE_IMAGES#my_header_logo_white.jpg" alt="" title="Application" />
    <h1 style="font-size: large; font-weight: bold; text-align: center;">Web Management System</h1>

  • How to add fonts to the iPad

    Hello,
My stolen Mac had more than 100 fonts; I do need some 10, maybe 20 but Pages only shows 5 or 6.
How can I get others fonts? Can I get some cursive like Amazone?
Jorge Lucas (the guy from Rio Grande do Sul)

You can't add fonts to the iPad, only Apple can add them.
If there are particuar fonts that you'd like then you could try leaving feedback for Apple : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

Your iPad and iPhone should already have Tamil fonts.  Can you really not see a web page like this one?
    http://ta.wikipedia.org/
There is however no keyboard yet.  If that is what you are talking about, search the app store for "tamil" to see if there is a keyboard app which might be useful for some purposes.  Also try the Keyman app.
You can ask Apple for a Tamil keyboard via

  • Is it possible to download unusual Adobe fonts to an iPad?

I am moving some complex Keynote lectures from my big iMac (OS X) to my iPad, and am having typographical issues. The lectures are about the history of writing, from the Trajan inscription to the middle ages, and so I am using some specific fonts that look more written than drawn. However, the iPad comes with a LOT of fonts, but none of these. I've always been able to transfer my fonts from the big iMac to other computers (my old laptop and such) but the iOS on the iPad doesn't seem to want to take them. And when I open up the files in Keynote, it switches them all to Helvetica. Not my style! So my question: do you know if it's possible to get OTHER fonts on an iPad? Also, is the math inside the fonts the same for OS X and iOS?

No, there is no way to install any additional fonts onto your iPad.
I'm not sure what you mean by the "math inside the fonts". If you mean the kerning and other such settings, I doubt that they're indentical with those in Mac OS X or any other operating system, but I'm not certain.
    Regards.

  • Why couldn't I download "Sgaw Karen" font on my iPad?

I tried to download it on my iPad but couldn't make it, tho.!

You cannot download and install any fonts on the iPad. You are restricted to the fonts that are built into the apps.

Hi Zak, thanks for the reply.
The filename is whatever is set to be the background fill of the site (I presume the desktop background fill, if mobile versions are set to be different). I've tried a number of different files, sizes and types/formats and the result is still the same, so as far as I can tell it's not the file itself causing the issue...
It uploads all pages (desktop, tablet and phone versions), .css files and .html files, and even the favicon .ico file but then hangs on the first image file, which incidentally is the background fill image.
The total number of files is said to be 154. It gets stuck on file number 24.
Yes the "Resume" dialog appears and upon clicking it just attempts to continue from the hang at the first image file (apparently 66% of the way through).
Re: the "BC site has changed" part - I thought as much but figured worth reporting.
... Incidentally, as I've written this reply, I left the "Resume" dialog open (ie neither clicking "resume" or "cancel" and just as I've finished typing it appears to have published the site successfully?!! (I must've left it for roughly 5 minutes)
Bizarre behaviour... I'm not sure if this will repeat itself with other sites but I'm sure there's a bug here that needs looking at regardless...?!
    Any thoughts?

Is it possible to install fonts to an iPad?

I strongly recommend dropping that idea.
No, I don't believe any such method exists.
Further, Apple stores that computer identification of model and version away, and uses it when verifying what type of computer you're using.
Bottom line - upgrading to get Macericks is not possible.
Instead, sell or give away your machine and replace it with a newer one.

  • Fonts on the iPad

Is there a way to get more fonts on my iPad without jail breaking?

    No.
However I think it is possible possible to have fonts not available on the iPad display via embedding them in web pages and apps.

  • Text transitions and fonts disappear on iPad

I created a Keynote Presentation with text transitions and sans serif fonts. When i emailed it to iPad, the text transitions and fonts disappeared. It also viewed it as pdf attachment. The Keynote presentation was created on Apple desktop on iOS X 10.8.4 and saved down as Keynote presentation. Why does it destroy the text transitions and fonts when brought into iPad. The iPad does not have Keynote installed.

Keynote for iOS must be installed on the iPad to play presentations.
Purchase it from the App Store:     App Store

  • Can I use .otf fonts in any iPad(3rd gen) word processing app?

I am a newcomer to iPad usage, but I have been asked if I can use a .otf font in any iPad3 (word processing) app, but so far I have not been able to determine whether this is possible.
All the apps I have looked at so far do not specify .otf compatibility, and before I waste any more time, I wonder if anybody has been faced with this before?

When it comes to fonts, in the context of any app you happen to be using, what you see is what you get. you can't add fonts to iOS.

  • Embedding Fonts in EPUB- iPad

Hello everyone I need your help.
I created an epub and inside it use the standard fonts (Times-Simoncini) with the addition of these two fonts:
    JLSSmilesSampler.otf
    Courier.otf
These two fonts are displayed on various types sony reader, .... but when I go to watch them on my Ipad not display anything (my font is substituted).
I found on the web reading here and I saw that one speaks of a file to be included in the META-INF folder (this is also noted on apple guide):
    com.apple.ibooks.display-options.xml
I created this file and now actually reading the file on Ipad properly visualize all my fonts
but as if by magic I appear blank pages (1 .. 2 ... 3) at the end of each chapter that before someone can tell me where there were no wrong?
    Matteino

Sounds like you'll need to manually substitute a compatible iPad font...
