Foot Control to Start/Stop Recording??

Does anyone know if Garageband can be remotely controlled to start and stop recording? Isn't there some sort of midi foot control pedal that allows this? If anyone has any experience with this, I'd love to hear!

The iControl is a control surface that controls many things in GarageBand. However, I don't think it could be used for a remote control for punching in/out.
I agree. We need some kind of remote start/stop "peddle" type controller. I just ordered the PowerMate from Griffin. I don't need 50' of cabling, just about 5' or so. Should be perfect for me. I dunno about setting it on the floor and stomping on it though

  • Start / stop recording from other software?

I have a setup where three cameras are supposed to start/stop recording based on user interaction in another software. So, is it possible to trigger a recording to start and stop from another software? If so, how can this be done?

To be honest Im not sure but I dont think so.
If this is a securitycam setup one way to do it without having to have acces to "endles" storage space is to use one of the free services for webcasting like jtv, ustream, veetle, or livestream. I believe all of them have a privace option so you can enter a securitycode so only you can acces the videos. Its not optimal but it gets the job done. I believe some of them will erase videos after a while though if you dont highlight them for saving.

  • Print to Video Start Stop recording

    Hello
Ok is their any way to have FCP mark a Start Stop after each clip when recording a timeline with many clips. So that when recaptured it imports each clip in the Timeline as an individual clip.
Perhaps their is another software for this.
I have been reading the Manual back and fourth cant find out how to add start stop points. I have tried markers transitions blank space. Nothing wants to work.

    Thank you for your help.
Your suggestion got me to come up with a few other things which led me to what I am going to do.
I still am going to try the Adobe thing I'll let you know how that goes.
I will have a directory with markers one for each tape on a USB stick.
A black slug around 2 frames in between each clip and enough black to start off and to end with as to keep every frame.
    One thing though.
The reason I was trying to do start and stop was in the event someone else needed to record the Tape but I will probable be the only one to do such.

  • Any http/telnet API to activate camera to start/stop recording?

    Hi all,
The function is involved in a IoE(Internet of Everything) project for customer.
    A. The action of 'start to record': will be triggered by event, such as when a sensor has detected some smoke in one room. The platform will activate camera by sending telnet/https command.
    B. The action of 'Stop to record and Save': will be used based on duration: After recording for 5 mins, the camera will stop to record and save video into local disk automatically.
Of course, if VSOM is needed, that will be OK! The question will be: How to start/stop camera recording by VSOM API(http/telnet.)?
    Thanks!

Hi! I've tried and I believe your Finesse Workflow is correct.
The trick is that on AQM you need to have your WFO Workflow Allowing to Record all calls.
Then to exclude all calls from being recorded, you can use the Inclusion List and make * for Exclude all Patterns for being recorded. Then your Finesse Workflow will work:
    1) All calls are sent to AQM, but are not recorded because of the Excluded Pattern = *
    2) Finesse Workflow only has the power to overwrite the Inclusion List configuration
    3) Finesse Workflow cannot overwrite the AQM Workflow configuration.
    Hope it helps,
    Rui

  • Accounting-Start and Accounting-Stop recorded on diffrent RADIUS server.

1.If a NAS configured to have a primary and a backup RADIUS server. To start with all the “Accounting-Start” records will be in the primary RADIUS server. Later on the primary server goes down (Primary server won’t tell the NAS?). When sessions stop, the NAS sends the “Accounting-Stop” to the secondary. I understand the “Start-Stop” record with the same “user name” and “session-id” ideally should be recorded in the same server. If this situation happens what should both the NAS and RADIUS server do?
2.A NAS configured to have a primary and backup RADIUS server. To start with all the “Accounting-Start” records will be in the primary RADIUS server. Later on the administrator decided to change the primary server (as there are problems with the previous primary). sessions stop, the NAS sends the “Accounting-Stop” to the new primary. This ends up the “Accounting-Start” and “Accounting-Stop” with the same “user name” and “session Id” in two RADIUS servers.
To summarize, how to avoid the ”start-stop” pair ends up in different servers ? If it does, is it  an issue for RADIUS application ?
    Cheers,

It is my understanding that the 'NAS_PORT' value in authentication and accounting request are unique and a different value for each authentication request allows it to identify those users that are logged in. However, sending one Acct-Unique-Session-Id at the Start and a different one at stop does sound fishy. However, I could not find any bugs related to this problem. Do let me know if you manage to locate something.

  • I am running my canon camera on the EOS utility program for mac, and i was wondering if there is a keyboard shortcut to start video recording, instead of using the mouse.

I am using EOS utility for MAC to run my canon camera at work. I have a foot switch connected to my macbook that allows me to take snapshots with my foot while i work ( i am a dentist and i have my camera hooked to a microscope). the way i did that is by programming a keyboard shortcut that snaps photos on EOS utility, to the foot switch software.
So my question is: On EOS there is a video recording function, so i was wondering if there is a keyboard shortcut or if i can create a keyboard shortcut for the start/stop record function for video recording..

"Caused by: java.lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.IllegalAccessException: Your license does not allow JRA to be started: Error: license signature validation error."
For the version of JRockit that you are running, you need to have a license file to run JRockit Mission Control.
Information about how to find a license file can be found here
In the normal case, you will get better and faster response to JRockit Mission Control questions if you ask them in the JRMC Forum
    Good luck,

  • Start/Stop control for itunes

I am in a band and I use itunes to playback my drum tracks. Anyone know of a switch (I'm visualizing a USB start/stop footswitch) which I could use to stop itunes playing? Thanks for your help. Brett

Oh, ya.  I know all about that problem.  Sorry it is not good news.  You will probably need a new phone.  Moisture has gotten into the button or the dock port and shorted the home button contacts.  Replacing the button will not fix it since it is the contacts on the board that are shot.  You can Google fixes for iPhone home button, for more details.  There is a rough work around fix of adding a few drops of rubbing alcohol on the button and pressing it 15 times then blowing it out with compressed air.  This helped a bit, but did not fix the problem.
Happened to me while I was running a bit of sweat must have gotten in.  There and it started happening to me.

  • Logic Pro midi start/stop remote

I would like to start and stop (and even record) in logic with MIDI-commands from my keyboard (Roland RD-700GX).
The keyboard has several midi buttons which are progammable but the message which is sent, is not a controler or SysEx but the start/stop status bytes of the MIDI-protocol. Logic cannot recognise these messages. Is there any trick or what can I do to work around this problem.

    (look at FAH and FCH!)
Well I downloaded the Midi Implementation manual and it says that these the S1 and S2 buttons send this messages for start/stop. They are labeled as "Real Time Midi messages" but I could not understand if they are MMC ones for this device. If it is standard MMC it must looks like:
    *MMC messages*
An MMC message (that is sent to, or generated by, an MMC device) is:
    *F0 7F deviceID 06 command F7*
The third byte is the Device ID.
The fifth byte is the command:
    01 Stop
    02 Play
    03 Deferred Play
    04 Fast Forward
    05 Rewind
    06 Record Strobe (Punch In)
    07 Record Exit (Punch out)
    08 Record Ready (Record Pause)
    09 Pause
    0A Eject
    0B Chase
    0F MMC Reset
    40 Write
    44 Locate/Go to
    47 Shuttle
Where the Roland Device ID is 41 as far as I remember.
You can try the S1 & S2 start/play function but first enable "Listen to MMC Input" logic sync setting ( see the pic below ).
I downloaded the User Manual of the RD-700GX as well, so in page 103 I found "Transmitting the Control Change (USER CC)". can you try to assign for S1 & S2 buttons ? If yes then assign CC13 for S1 and CC14 for S2 ( values 0 for example ). After that try to learn the Logic Keycommands dialog for play stop using this buttons - see my first post picture.

  • Stop Recording bug?

I searched the forum a bit and didn't find this mentioned: I'm using Logic Studio 8 with a Tascam DM4800 which provides Machine Control of Logic (control surface and transport control). Several times when I've been recording I push the "Stop" button on the Tascam and Logic stops recording then restarts. Repeated pushing of the Stop on the Tascam or the Stop in the Transport controls of the software have no effect; it simply stops and then restarts recording. The only solution I've found is to push Apple-Q several times in between pushing Stop so that during a pause it quits and then I restart the program.
If anyone has a solution it would be most appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Russ

I was aware that pressing STOP twice will return to the beginning of a piece. The problem with the STOP button not responding properly is intermittent, but it happens a lot. When you are trying to punch record, it is a nightmare. Also, I can never get the meters in logic to mirror the DM4800, and vice versa. I have spent hours on the phone with Tascam, and they walk me through different board configurations, but as I have said, they never stay put. I will end a session, go back another time, and need to reconfigure everything before I can start my project. If you have any insight at all as to what may be wrong, and/or how to correct this, PLEASE advise asap. Again, Tascam blames Logic, and Apple blames Tascam. I am caught between the proverbial rock and a hard place.
    Thank you very much.

  • Audition 3 stops recording

Audition 3 stops recording after less than a second.  I have Dell Studio notebook, Win 7 64-bit home version that has been  reset to factory default settings, and a Echo Audiofire2 external sound device. Under the Audio Hardware Setup option, I have three options: ASIO EchoFirewire, ASIO4All, and Audition 3 Windows sound.  Windows Sound Mixer shows Echo Audiofire as default recording device.  I experience the recording stopping using the  ASIO EchoFirewire, or Audition 3 Windows Sound devices.  If I use the ASIO4All option, the recording starts and stops sporadically.  I've reinstalled Audition and tried the 3.01 patch with no change.
    Ideas?

When you say 'stops recording', what exactly happens? Does it just freeze, or does this stop manifest itself in another way? In general, if the transport controls in Audition freeze, it means that for whatever reason, the software is unable to make bi-directional contact with the sound device. If this is happening with the ASIO drivers, that rather points at the drivers themselves, because you have cut out a large quantity of the OS (which, believe me, is a good thing...). So in the absence of any other obvious reason for this, the first thing I'd do is to check with Echo and make sure that there isn't an updated driver available for the AudioFire. The only other thing that comes immediately to mind is to make damn sure that there isn't a check in the 'release ASIO driver in background' box - that will certainly stop Audition if you click away from the program!
I also have to tell you that despite many claims to the contrary, W7 64-bit is not entirely trouble-free as far as Audition is concerned, and also it's not supported - only the 32-bit version is. Also in the past, Dell have been cited over a number of audio problems relating to laptops, but we haven't heard so much about that lately.
