Footage in Pal anamorph get blurry in fcp x, (not sharp as on original File... )

When i import footage pal anamorph into fcp pro x, it gets blurry.
Its not the field dominance:-)
Ist there a Function to tell fcp x that it is anamorph?
Thanx mike

It is a Animation Pal File (Typo and Packshot, where you see the sharpness perfektly) generated in AE.
If i compare the same file without doing anything to it, it looks a little blurry especially the typo.
Thanx
mike

  • FCP X not recognising .fcpproject or .fcpevent files

I am unable to open .fcpproject or .fcpevent files using the trial version of FCPX. All the project files were copied onto a Mac (retaining folder structure) from an external hard drive, and now the files are not recognised by the software. Any ideas?

What exactly do you mean? Are you trying to open them in the Finder? You are not supposed to "open" these files.
If you mean they are not visible when you start FCP X, maybe it is because they are not where they should.
All projects need to be inside a folder called "Final Cut Projects", and likewise events in "Final Cut Events"; and these folders in turn need to be in the right place.
In an external drive, the right place is at the root of the drive. In the system drive, it is inside the user's "Movies" folder.

  • Now all of a sudden, most of my music will not play "because the original file could not be found" for no apparent reason, and I can't get it back. Thanks a ******* LOT, iTunes!! Now I can't even listen to over $1,000 of my songs because of

The "missing file" thing happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout, or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then say no when asked to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions. I can provide a step by step guide if you give me the two paths.
In some cases iTunes may be able to repair itself if you go through the same steps and locate the lost track. It may then offer to attempt to automatically fix other broken links. Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes.

  • HT1414 I never synched my iPad to a computer, and I forgot my passcode and am now locked out.  I read that I need to do a restore, but will lose all my files.  Is there any way to get into my iPad but NOT lose my photos and files?

I forget my passcode, and got locked out of my iPad.  I never synched, so my files aren't backed up.  I read that I need to restore, but will lose everything.  Is there any other way to not lose my photos and files on my computer?

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.
You may have to force iPad/iPod into Recovery Mode

  • Fcp - color - fcp ALL BLURRY in PAL Anamorphic - any ideas?

ok, so admittedly i'm not working on my normal system but i've been using color (and final touch before that) for a while on a number of small and large fcp projects (dv, hdv, prores) and now i'm working on a small tv show for austrian broadcasting.
naturally the project is in pal and it is in standard pal anamorphic.
when i send to color everything looks ok, my viewer is squeezed (there is no pal anamorphic setting for color it seems, just regular pal 4x3) but checking the geometry it all looks good so i wasn't concerned.
i do a correct on a 2-minute section to test everything and it all looks good in color.
i render everything out and send it back to fcp and lo and behold EVERYTHING is BLURRY.
as if a defocus filter has been applied.
i've tried a bunch of different settings, i've removed grades, de-interlace, everything and it still comes back blurry.
    any ideas?
    thanks,
    nick.

    FCP issue?
Check the rendered clips OUTSIDE of FCP, ie in Quicktime. There may be a scaling/RTE/proxy thing happening if there is not an exact match between the rendered material and the way FCP wants to handle it. Check Audio/Video settings. The anamorphic nature may be throwing a curve.

  • Dv pal anamorphic?

we have recorded some material that was obviously shot at dv pal anamorphic settings.
when i open the quicktime clips in qt-player, it shows as
    DV 720 x 576 (1024x576)
in final cut, we have tried finding the correct settings for timeline, but no matter what we try, fcp seems to insist on adding black bars on top and below.
when encoding, we end up with 4:3 video, neatly blackboxed.
as nicely as this is, i would like to know how to get fcp to treat the video at it's native format and how to get compressor to encode it as such.
would prefer the dvd-player to decide how to display the video from there on...
any suggestions on where to look?
there used to be an "anamorphic" setting in fcp once upon a time, but that seems to have disappeared - or has it been replaced? if so, with what?
    thanks

    Hi Rene,
In oder to have handle FCP this in the right way you need to capture it as DV PAL anamorphic in the first place. An Easy Setup should exsist, but you can simply use DV PAL preset and set the anamorphic checkbox in the capture preset (preferences) as well as the timeline presets.
I you by accident did not capture the material as Anamorphic, you easily tell FCP that it really is anamorphic, by checkmarking the anamorphc column in the Browser.
If you forgot to set the sequence/timeline settings to anamorphic BEFORE dropping footage in it, then first set the settings of that sequence by checkmarking the anamorphic chekmark in the timeline settings (Command 0).
Then choose all clips in the sequence and Remove Attributes (Command-Option-V). In that pop-up menu choose Distort. This will remove the aspect settings that FCP created automattically when you dropped anamorphic material in a 4:3 timeline or vice versa.
    Hope this helps.

  • Accidently recorded 60i footage - how do I bring it into FCP? Help!

I have just found that I have filmed some of my work in 60i (using a Sony Z1) and some in 50i. I actually wanted it all in 50i (PAL) as I'm in the UK and naturally wanted the footage to be consistent.
The problem I have found now is, is that I can't bring in the 60i footage onto FCP. I'm connected up via Firewire, and am using a G5. I've tried changing the capture settings to NTSC, but no joy. All I actually get is audio, as the video preview is disabled. Naturally it plays fine on the Z1. I've also tried it on DSR-45, in which it also plays back fine on the monitor, but I can't get anything into FCP.
Do I need an NTSC firewire cable? Or do I need to get the footage transferred to PAL (50i)?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Make sure that your Z1U menu is set to play back NTSC 60i video or if you are using a player other than the Z1U make sure it is set to 60i NTSC output.
Create a new project in FCP with NTSC 60i settings and import the footage. Then export the new footage to Compressor and transcode to 50i.
BTW there is no such thing as an NTSC Firewire cable. The cables don't care what standard you use
    Good luck.

  • PAL Anamorphic

I'm creating a 4:3 NTSC DV using PAL anamorphic footage. Normally when converting NTSC 16:9 footage to 4:3 I just change the scale to 133.33. Can I do the same to PAL 16:9 footage? I've noticed that when I do this I get a weird (-12.5) aspect ratio in the Distort drop down under the Motion tab in the Viewer. Everything seems to look alright, but I'm not sure how it will turn out once I burn it to a dvd. Any help is appreciated.

Could be a couple of things.
first double check and see if you clip settings match you footage settings.
right-click on a clip and click the format tab.
Then go up and make sure they are the same as your settings.
See if what needs to be rendered is the video or the audio. there are two bars on the render bar. video upper, audio lower.
People sometimes overlook how they recorded audio as well as video.

  • What are the best instagram video settings using Compressor 4?  The outputs I have created look clean HD in camera roll.  When I view video in instagram preview it looks great, but then when i post it the quality gets blurry. Any advice?

I have read that you should resize the frame to 640 by 640 or 1000 x 1000, and have tried both.  I shot the footage on canon 70d using 720p60fps, and edited the footage with iMovie.  Its been frustrating to see the finished product look great on iPhone, iPad, or mac but once i post the video- the quality gets blurry when you focus on the faces that are in focus.  My footage is basketball action shots from a high school game.  Any advice would be huge, I been looking for an answer to this for a month.

Simple export a ProRes 422 file, upload that by itself.  Facebook, Vimeo, YoutTube, etc, all compress the video themselves.  So don't compress it first, just upload it and let them do their own compression.

  • PAL anamorphic projects seem to be coming out at export at 4:3

I have Final Cut Studio 1 with all the latest updates. I am doing more video projects these days and I've noticed that upon export things seem to be going a bit wrong. Both straight to quicktime and using compressor to export a 16:9 project and out comes a 4:3 the other end. Even in the compressor preview screen. Frame size says 720 x 576 but it's not coming out widescreen. I've done 2 projects previously that worked fine, but the latest one just baffles me.
It's a trailer completely created in Motion 2. In the motion preview screen, everything looks fine. Export it (keeping the project settings) and boom 4:3. Drop it into final cut and the same. In a project with shot video footage previewing fine in 16:9 the motion file comes out as a squashed up 4:3?
Has anyone else had this problem, did a crawl through the forum, and there were a few things similar but no real answers. It's like the Final CUt to motion 3 problem but around the other way....any ideas where I'm going wrong?

pal anamorphic is a setting used when you plan to dispaly your project on a wide screen-capable tv (because it relaly is wide screen or has the ability to change aspect ratios) so it is actually a 4:3 pal format, than when you watch on your tv you squish by telling your tv to change its aspect ratio. It is actually poor man's wide screen, as you are only using 4:3 equipment and it is not as heavy pixel wise as it is not actually filling the full wide screen resolution but cheating. To make real wide screen, that exports as wide screen without the distortion and teh necessity to squish it back down, use a non anamorphic format to begin with, or do what others have said: change the resolution of your exported file by shift dragging the corner of the quick time player window, or putting in the correct resolution in pixels.....

  • Pal Anamorphic project - importing stills

    Hi,
I'm working on a project in FCP which was shot on PAL 16:9 and imported in PAL anamorphic. I have a still that I want to use that is 1024 x 576. I have cut out a map in this still and created an alpha layer. When I bring it into FCP it seems to have 2 sets of letterbox.
Is there something I need to be doing in photoshop to avoid this? Thanks for your help.
    Margie

No sure what you mean by double letterbox.
It seems to me that your timeline settings are not anamorphic.
(although you captured in anamorphic). Make sure that you're timeline is anamorphic: Sequence Settings > check the anamorphic box.
Try to drag your stil on it again.
Doesn't work? Check whether the anamorphic-column in the browser is on or off.
Try the right setting for you.
Problem must be somewhere in there.

  • Importing .mov or .mpg and not getting audio in FCP

I have both an Mpeg (as well as an .mov ) file that play in QuickTime Player beautifully with audio. When I import it into FCP I only get the video. This has been happening with many files that clients are bringing in and have not figured out a way to get the audio track into Final Cut. Any suggestions? Why will it accept the video, but not the audio? Thank you for your assistance in advance!!
    BR

    Hi,
Mpeg is not an editing format.
You need to demux video and audio and convert the original Mpeg in a FCP friendly format like DV or QT.
Your solution is likely MPEGstreamclip. Here it is:
