Footage stalling as being captured

Am panicking! I am in the middle of logging 7 tapes of footage- all HDV (downconverting to DV) on my Final Cut Pro 5.0.4 with PowerBook G4. the first 3 tapes were fine, from tape 4 it began not playing back properly to the computer- on the camera screen (Sony A1) it plays and sounds absoutely fine, on the computer screen it freezes and stalls in places for long periods of time and then jumps. I have no idea if its the tape or the camera or my settings, which havent changed because I have been doing this for hours! I checked a few tapes and it may be the computer possibly, but I have no idea what this is.
Has anyone experienced this, PLEASE HELP!!!

Do you have a second hard drive on the laptop as a dedicated capture location?
• If not, address this first. Make sure you format the new drive as MacOS Extended before use.
How full is it?
• Drives slow down as the fill. Drives designed for A/V use will perform better as they fill. Run of the mill drives begin to slow down at less than 50% capacity and really slow down around 80%.
How is it connected - firewire, esata or usb?
• if the drive is USB, you should replace it with either a firewire or esata drive. E-sata will require an adapter card to make the connection to the computer.

  • How do I find out what is being captured and applied?

    Hi,
    I have the following issue i'm trying to understand.
    My test 2-way streams setup (10.2.0.3 on windows) was stopped/broken for some weeks. I got around to starting to fix it yesterday. Since then its been sat there scanning through logs starting from the 21st of May 2007 (and still on the 21st). There are large number of messages being captured queued and propagated (8378901+ at the mo). This would make some sense if there had been constant changes going through for the past weeks but there haven't. I've created and dropped a table, inserted a couple of rows, and maybe created an index but thats it.
    So what is going on?
    Is there a way to peek into the queues and see the contents of these messages?
    How do I find out what its doing and why?

    Hi,
    You can know what is being applied using the following query:
    select sid, event, p1, p2, state, seconds_in_wait, sq.SQL_ID, sql_text
    from v$session s, v$sqlarea sq
    where sid in (select sid
    from v$streams_apply_coordinator
    union all
    select sid
    from v$streams_apply_reader
    union all
    select sid
    from v$streams_apply_server) and s.sql_id = sq.sql_id

  • Mapping errors not being captured in wb_rt_errors

    Hi All,
    We use OWB mapping to load the data from stage tables to transactional tables. However, errors are not being captured in wb_rt_errors eventhough table loading is failing. We have no clue why it is failing. Please let us know if you have any idea why the errors are not being captured ?
    We are capturing the audit id during the load erros. Using the below queries to validate the data.
    SELECT * FROM WB_RT_AUDIT  WHERE RTE_ID=15852682 ORDER BY CREATION_DATE DESC;
    SELECT * FROM WB_RT_ERRORS WHERE RTE_IID=15852682; Thanks and Regards

    I've had similar problems. I've found that the Flash CC file sometimes loses the reference to the document class file and that the source paths in the Actionscript settings are gone when re-opening a file. If I re-enter the document class (and paths) in the Actionscript Settings dialogue it will reconnect with Flash Builder.

  • OHS - Protocol (Periodic) Next due dates are not being captured properly

    Protocol (Periodic) Next due dates are not being captured properly in the Planning Cockpit (EHSH_D_PCP) report nor the Protocol report (S_SH8_7200013).  The Planned date is not resetting itself for the medical service sometimes.
    Any idea what might be causing this issue?

    HI Naveen
    Have you overridden the std BADI for calculating Next due date?

  • Audio isn't being captured

    Hello,
    I've got a problem that just recently started. When I try to capture footage the visual is being caught but the audio isn't. When I'm capturing I can hear the audio through the camdcorder, but not through the computer. Then when I disconnect the camcorder after the capture, the clip doesn't play the audio, only the visual. The Audio Tab shows "mono" but only has quiet static.
    I've seen other messages that suggest trashing the FCE preferences. I'm a little hesitant to do that before getting more info.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    What's the camera? How is it connected to the
    computer? What's the sound you hear on the camcorder
    during playback? What channel is the sound recorded
    on? Was the recording made with the camera's built-in
    mic or an external mic?
    Tom,
    It's a Sony Digital Handycam DCR-TRV315. It's connected through my external hardrive. I've tried different cords. The sound that I hear on playback is a very very quiet hum. I can only hear it when I increase the volume on the audio clip. I'm not sure what channel it was recorded on. How would I find that out? It was recorded through an external mic. As I said, I can hear the sound when I play the video on the camera.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Cut Extraneous Footage that has been captured...in FCP?

    Ok, I have some seriously disorganized Digital8/8mm video (family of course) and it is darn near impossible to log and capture to pick out what I'd like.
    Now let's say the capture is done and over with. Is there a way to simply pick an in and out point, then replace that master clip? It sounds very easy but I wound up exporting a whole new video and in the same process, I waste space.
    I'm sure you pro's know what the trick is, it would be great to know it so I could save some time.

    Don't confuse master clip with source media these are two different things! Accurate capture utilizes source footage stored on computer. You may try media mangler to trim source footage. Create all your subclips, select all of them from the Browser right-click and select Media Manager go from there...

  • I have recently received a project from someone who has already captured the footage, can I use the footage directly from the capture scratch for my new project?

    Will this in any way effect my footage when working/exporting? I will be working off the same hard drive.

    If all the footage played in FC to begin with and all the media is included in the capture scratch folder you should be good to go but I would check a few things.
    Pull the new footage into your project and look under the compressor column. If any files are H264 or MP4 I would recommend converting these to a PR422 or another FC friendly format.  Also confirm any audio only files are aiff/48Khz(not mp3 or 44.1Khz).
    In my experience you can work with H264,MP4, mp3 & 44.1 in FC7 but you are almost guaranteed to have problems later.

  • Text Entry Boxes and their content not being captured in Automatic Recording

    I have searched the forums here and elsewhere extensively and whilst I have found people with similar issues, I have yet to find a solution. My problem is this:
    I am trying to record myself using a piece of software which contains numerous text fields. In the past, when using Captivate 3, I would simply fill out these fields and Captivate would record my entries automatically. When the project was played back, the training simulation would pause and allow the user to type in the text field and provided the entry matched the options I had defined, the simulation would continue to the next step.
    So, my colleague and I have since bought Adobe Tech. Comms. Suite 2 and have upgraded Captivate 3 to version 4. Ever since doing this we have both been unable to successfully capture text entry boxes with their content when recording automatically in any mode. We have checked and triple checked the settings to make sure that the automatic capture of text entry in fields is turned on yet we still cannot get Captivate to perform this task it once so easily could. We both suffer from the same problem on both of our installations of Captivate 4. We have tried recording in all modes with no success.
    I am tearing my hair out as I need to come up with some sample content for a major Governmental client which would be worth a 5 figure sum to my company and I really don't relish having to manually create every text entry box as there are a LOT of them in this application!
    I have also reported this as a bug to Adobe using the correct form. As yet, no response.
    I would really appreciate any genuine help that can be offered by you guys.
    In desperation,
    Rob.

    Ok, I think I've sussed it!
    I've been pulling my hair out for weeks on this and after posting on here, I decided to try something and I think I may have found the problem.
    I work with a laptop as I am a Trainer and therefore quite mobile. When I'm in the office, I dock my laptop and use the Extended Desktop functionality of Windows so I have my laptop screen and a second 19" monitor which i find incredibly useful as screen real estate is always at a premium. And this is where I believe the problem lies.
    I performed a simple test and have repeated this test with identical outcomes everytime. Here is what I did. I fired up Captivate and Outlook and opened up a new mail window in Outlook. I then set Captivate to record the new mail window and hit record. I typed some text into the To field and the Subject field and then stopped the recording. I then previewed the results. When the new mail window was on my primary screen, (i.e the laptop) the Text Entry Box recording worked 100% fine. However, if the new mail screen was residing on my secondary screen, i.e. the monitor, the Text Entry Box recording failed!
    So it would seem that Captivate 4 has an issue with seeing the text entered on a secondary monitor when Windows is running in Extended Desktop mode. I am absolutely certain this wasn't an issue with Captivate 3 as I created plenty of content without any of these problems and I was using the Extended Desktop back then.
    So, if anyone else is having the same issue, and you are running an Extended Desktop, try what I did above.
    In the meantime, I am raising this issue with Adobe in the hope they can get this fixed, but at least now I can carry on with my content creation
    Regards,
    Rob.

  • My send messages are not being captured. all you see is the subject line.

    After February 27, it seems that Thunderbird is not capturing my Sent messages. You can see the subject in the list above the line, but nothing shows up below it. If I put it in Trash, I still can't see it.
    I have another mailbox on this computer, and it's working fine.
    It's an old Mac (G4) running an ancient system, 10.3.9, and that supports Thunderbird 2.0.0.23
    Yes, I know it's an antique, but we need to fix it right now. Please help.

    It was the icon after all, and it finally worked. I think I had to clean out some of my sent mail and compact the folders first. Thank you very much.

  • Javax.swing.Timer not working or event not being captured by actionPerfrmd

    Here is the code:
    public class nQueensEst extends JApplet implements ActionListener {
      public Timer t = new Timer(1, this);
    //...the actionPerformed:
    if(e.getSource() == jButton1){
                nRainhas=Integer.parseInt(javax.swing.JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Quantas rainhas voc? deseja?"));
                t.start();
                int contadorTentativas=1;
                for(int i=0; i<=100; i++){
                    sol=new int[nRainhas];
                    while(!rainhas()){
                      jLabel1.setText(contadorTentativas +" tentativas!!!");
                      contadorTentativas++;
                    jLabel2.setText("Solu??es: "+Integer.toString(i));
    t.stop();
    }else if(e.getSource() == t){
         System.out.println("timer");
         rodadas++;
    Any clue?
    Thanks

    Let me explai the context: i had to implement a classic nQueens problem using a Grasp Algorithm and a Backtrack algorithm, then in dorder to compare them, i want to make the garap one to run find 100000 solutions and register the time it is needes, then divide by 100000. so i need the timer running and making a variable increase every millisecond from the beggining until the end of the last solution. But the timer is not generating a event or the event is not being caought by the actionPerformed.

  • OneStep: cant find imported footage (folder location of captured data)

    Hi,
    I have used oneStep to create a DVD, after it automatically imported the footage from my camera, I accidentally pressed 'cancel' durring the compression process, and it stoped. Now I want to recover my imported footage (about 1 hr of dv). Problem: I have no clue where the data is! I checked /tmp and its not there! I have about 20GB less disk space on my drive now, but I can't seem to recover the file or free up the space! I'm not even sure what I would search for!
    Anyone have an idea?
    Saul.

    I had the same problem. I found the file using a freeware program you can download here called "What size"
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/21149
    I found the file under the private section in a temp file. I hope this helps.

  • Monitor audio tracks not currently being captured?

    While logging and/or capturing, I would like to be able to hear what's going on in an audio track I have not currently selected for log or capture. This way, I can keep an eye -or rather ear- on whether the sound man added a second mic between takes or something interesting has developed with the boom audio.
    It appears as if I can only monitor what I've selected to log or capture in the Audio portion of the Clip Settings tab of the Log and Capture tool. Is that true? If I think I don't want it, I don't get to hear it?
    Martin

    That is the FIREWIRE feed. There are still audio outputs on the back of the deck. If there are more than two, you are in luck. If there aren't, then SOL.

  • Batch Capture Problems - only some of batch being captured each time

    I'm editing on a MacBook Pro with final cut version 5.1.4., with an operating system of OSX 10.4.10, off of an DVX100B in NTSC mode (at 30P settings) and when I try to Batch Capture, it won't capture all the clips. It acts as if it's capturing all of them, and at the end it tells me it has, but when i press "ok", there are only about a third of them that were actually captured, and I have to start again, and go through the batch about 4-5 times to get them all captured.
    HELP!
    Thanks

    Superstitious, indeed.
    As noted, we can't tell much from where we're sitting. Welcome to the forum, too.
    Beginners' issues with batch capturing are often traced to not completely understanding how logging works. Maybe you have designated several overlapping clips.

  • Audio isn't being captured through final cut

    Alright well I just captured a couple of clips using a Panasonic DVX 100-B through a firewire, and the video gets captured but the audio doesn't
    Help much needed thank you

    Also when I capture it in Final Cut it plays audio but when I open it with QuickTime no audio????

  • My send messages are not being captured. Matt said to right click the folder, etc. What folder? Where?

    Only the subject shows up above the line. MattAuSupport said to right click the folder, select properties and repair. But what folder are you talking about? Where will I find it?

    To answer your question, it would be the folder that you are complaining about. So back to you, What folder are you having problems with? The Sent folder? Then that would be the one to right click to repair.
    It is kind of like flat tires. You repair the one the air came out of.
