Footage will just not play in Premier Pro CS 5

I am importing footage into Adobe Premier Pro CS 5 version on a Mac 10.6, but it doesn't matter what file format I convert it into or what sequence settings I try I cannot get the footage to play! It's recorded on a Sony Handycam HDR-XR200E in AVCHD format as an MTS file. I have converted it into .mov, avi and mpeg4 formats but still nothing seems to work! It's not a trial version of CS 5 so the AVCHD should not be a problem. I have also tried all the sequence settings and nada! The footage jumps for 2 seconds and then just freezes.
Not sure how to proceed. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated!

tamzynd, what are the specs of your mac? sounds like Premiere is choking on the footage.
Can you play other type of vision (e.g. a plain old AVI file from a DV camera)?
is your footage on the internal drive or on an external disk?

I have tried a few files all very small in size nothing major i have tried .mov and avi and aiff i get the same fault with all of them i cannot tell what the codecs are i thinks its only with pro quick time.
OK, so it is not those particular files, but many others, as well. I do not know Photo Booth, but would ask if all of the problem files have come from it. Could be a possible link there - or maybe not. Do any non-Photo Booth files give you the same problem? Do any non-Photo Booth files NOT give you the problem?
Thanks for the clarification on the QT Pro only aspect of Property Panel. I'll no refrain from mentioning that, without the qualifier - "Pro." I just had no way to tell, as all copies that I own are the Pro model.
what do you prefer red or white i would say your a reds man anyway
My answer to this question is "Alvarinho to Zinfandel and everything in between - so long as it's well-made." I try to pair each food course with a particular wine, regardless of color. I have no issue with a white with traditionally red wine courses, or the inverse. I love a good Syrah/Shiraz, or Pinot Noir with all but the lightest fish/seafood dishes, so long as there is not much cream in the sauce - then I reach for FR whites. I'll also usually serve some whites and lighter reds with the cheese course, even if the earlier courses have had bigger reds already.
    Good luck,

When I try to play an itunes purchased movie it says I have to authorize this computer. When I put in my log in information it says this computer is already authorized and will still not play the move. I have tried to deauthorize and reauthorize this computer, delete and reinstall itunes and Quicktime and nothing works; the purchased movies still will not play

I'm having the same problem on my new iMac.  First it tells me it's not authorized to play the songs, then when I enter my password, it tells me it's already authorized, but still won't play them.  I tried deleting a song and going to the store to redownload it and got charged for it!  I've got hundreds of songs, so that's not going to be an option.
In addition, I have quite a few songs from a very old Apple ID, one I forgot I even had, I have no idea what the password was and no way to have the system send me a new password because I no longer have access to that email account.
The Mac I just "retired" could play all the songs in my catalog just fine.  This new one won't play the majority of them.
    Help!

  • Anyone had video just not play when on the timeline?

Video is just not playing when pulled down to the timeline.  Seems to resolve itself for a bit after I reboot the program.

Using optimized media should be fine to work with given those specs.
Does the problem happen often? When you say it doesn't play, I'm not exactly sure what you mean.
One thing to check for is that the timeline scrollbar hasn't moved (vertically) so that the issue isn't just that you can't see it due to a scrolling issue. This has happened to me a few times -- especially when zooming in/out. I think it's a bug. But all you have to do is scroll up to get your clips back into view.

  • I am having difficulty opening my iPhoto on my macbook. Every time I try to access it, it freezes or the application will just not open at all. What can I do to open it successfully?

I am having difficulty opening my iPhoto on my macbook. Every time I try to access it, it freezes or the application will just not open at all. What can I do to open it successfully?

Select iPhoto in the Applications folder the type Command+i to bring up its Info window.  That will tell you what version it is.
As a first fix attempt do the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Lion and Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
    Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE 1: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • Apple ProRes HQ files (converted from HDV) will not play in Premiere Pro

I was working on a project in premier pro and finished a draft on 12/24 with no issues.  I took these file directy from their coverted state as .mov files into the PP project and edited on the timeline with no issues.  Shut down on 12/24.  Opened project today, none of the files from the HDV converted format will play correctly OR export correctly.  They are all Black video and still contain the right audio.
As a side note here, this is the same for trying to play the file in Quicktime AND in Apple's Final Cut Pro 7.
The only files affected are those that were uploaded and coverted to Apple ProRes HQ from the HDV format.
Again, this was working and functioning fine un Tuesday, now they appear black in the timeline and viewers.
Only change made to ANYTHING on my iMac is: Updated iTunes on Tuesday after I had closed the project from Premiere Pro.
    Please help!!!
    Thankyou,

Only change made to ANYTHING on my iMac is: Updated iTunes on Tuesday after I had closed the project from Premiere Pro.
    Sounds like a clue.
Apple / Mac  updates have a history of creating issues and plenty of evidence supports that statement.
My guess its a QT version issue.

  • AMR files will not play in QT Pro 7.6.6 or QT Player X

I cannot get AMR files to play in QT Pro 7.6.6 or QT Player X, or for that matter VLC or MPEG Streamclip. I have Perian and Flip4Mac installed, but this makes no difference.
    System details:
    OSX 10.7.5
    MacBookPro4,1
    Intel Core 2 Duo
    2.6 GHz
    All software up to date.
    Please advise, thanks.

How do you turn on the legacy codecs?
    Use the Terminal app.
To check to see if the legacy audio codecs are already enabled, use the following command:
    qtdefaults read LegacyAudioCodecsEnabled
All legacy audio codecs can be turned on using the following command line:
    qtdefaults write LegacyAudioCodecsEnabled yes
to which your system should respond with the fillowing:
    audio encoders have been enabled.
NOTES: This only affects the option to export legacy compression formats. All "compatible" codecs are supposed to be available for playback. For audio, a single command affects all legacy audio codecs while video legacy codecs must be enabled individually. To get a complete list of QT preference commands, simply enter the following:
    qtdefaults
The above should be enough to get you started. Have fun and good luck!

  • Videos ONLY on Facebook not playing on Macbook Pro

    Hello,
Videos ONLY on Facebook, will not play on my Macbook Pro.  After updating my OS X to Maverick 10.9.4 I started having this problem. Here's is what I have done and NONE of it worked.
-I tried using Firefox, safari and Chrome. Did not work on any of them.
-My Flash is up to date
-I CAN play videos on Youtube.  The problem is ONLY on facebook.
Just to see if it was something with my account and not my computer I logged into my FB on my ipad and the videos will play fine.  So it is something with my Macbook Pro.  I've read through all the treads here that talk about this subject and non of the solutions fit my situation.
    Thank you for any help

Yeah, I'm having the same problem. Being it is the same on Safari and Firefox, it isn't something in either's settings. I thought it could have been Flash-player, so I've deleted it, re-installed, and played with the settings and nothing has changed. Maybe someone else knows what to do???
Edit: I just found this: Flash Player update not working in Mavericks - you may have to go to a archived version of Flashplayer. I haven't tried it yet.

  • Why will music not play on my iPhone?

None of my music is playing on iTunes from my phone.  It works on my computer, but only about 4 songs will play on my phone.  I have tried restarting my phone and syncing it to the computer and the music will still not work.  Does anyone know how to fix this?

My problem was that the voice tracks on my iTunes files AND TuneIn Radio were at extremely low volume, while the background tracks were OK. Raising the volume to max made the voice tracks barely audible, but then the rest was garbled. This was the first time I played music since upgrading to iOS 6 (iPhone 4 (CDMA)). Just to do something, I went to Settings/Music and toggled a few of the ON-OFF settings, e.g., Volume Limit, EQ, etc. When I went back to play music, all was well. IN ADDITION, the sound quality and R-L separation seem much improved. I suspect a reset would have accomplished the same.(?)
I have not seen any reports of any iOS 6 changes in audio decoding, but it seems like there are.
    Anybody have a clue?

  • Film Touch Pro 2 Plugin Not Installing on Premier Pro CC 2014

Just paid for and downloaded "Film Touch 2 Pro" from Pixelan via the Adobe site. Installed as directed but the plugin in is not available in my version of Premier Pro. I am running the latest version of Premier Pro CC (2014) is this compatible with this version????
Any help would be appreciated thanks.
    Paul Smith

I was not aware you could get plugins from a Adobe Site. Could you give a link.
It should run in nearly all versions.
If it does not work you have to contact Pixelan.
Do you see the plugin in the Plugins folder of Premiere (Program Files)?

  • Fix for video like Comedy Central not playing on MacBook Pro

MacBook Pro has stopped playing streaming video from a number of websites, e.g. Comedy Central.
Spinner spins then stops and player window is black.
    Have latest Flash player.
    Have tried different ISP connections.
    Have tried different browsers.
    Rebooted numerous times.
    Removed excess plugs from browsers.
    Have tried wired and wireless.
Still not playing video from a number of websites, e.g. Comedy Central.
Any suggestions? Highly frustrated at moment as I have no TV and was relying on my MacBook for entertainment.
    Thanks...Stephen

Solution for me was to 'Allow third party Flash content to store data on your computer' on the Global Storage settings panel:
    http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_man ager03.html
Way creepy that comedy central requires this to be enabled to let you play their video. If you clear all your local flash data and then enable the third party storage and hit CC, you'll see new flash cookes from two domains: media.mtvnservices.com and secure-us.imrworldwide.com. I turn the above setting on just to watch clips on CC, then turn it back off and clear all the flash cookies. Probably not that important to do so, but it isn't too bad.

  • Why will Safari not play MP3s embedded in my iWeb pages when Firefox can?

One would have thought that if iWeb was going to get picky over the scenarios in which it would behave correctly, it would favour Apple-centric enviroments. But this doesn't appear to be the case when building an iWeb site with embedded MP3 files.
The published site behaves perfectly when viewed in Firefox and yes, even IE's latest incarnation. Files may take a while to download but they play when the download has finished. Safari is a different story. The MP3 files embedded in some pages simply will not play when viewed with Safari.
This page in particular has never worked in Safari -
    http://www.whisperycat.co.uk/version_5/sounds/Entries/2011/3/23_Promenade.html
A small blue questionmark appears instead of the 'Play' button.
Any workarounds or is it just the case that Safari and iWeb are incompatible on this fundamental point???

Well it looks as though I answered my own question. A Google search revelas that Safari has had over 2 years' history of reported problems with the mp3 format -
    http://www.google.co.uk/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=safari+wont+play+mp3&ie=UT F-8&oe=UTF-8&redir_esc=&ei=nkulT9_wA82g8gOPj8ntBA
    - and the solution is... STOP USING MP3 FILES
Yes, mp3 format is out, mp4 format is in. SO I'll need to upload MP4 versions of my audio files and then retry.

  • Some avi-files not playing on QuickTime Pro 7.0.4

I tried to play a few avi-file movies using QuickTime Pro 7.0.4 on my Mac OS X 10.4.4, but unfortunately, I keep getting the message: "Some necessary QuickTime software is missing. It may be available on the QuickTime Web site." After going on that site, I downloaded some of the available free software, but the problem remains. Playing the movies with a third-application like the VLC, works fine. I wish QuickTime Pro would have the same capabilities in playing avi files like other Players. Do you have an idea how I can solve the problem?
    Thanks for your support!
    iBook G4 1GhZ   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   60GB, 640MB RAM, Bluetooth, Airport Express

Thanks for all your help guys. I guess I will remain with the VLC for playing AVI files that donnot play on the QT Player as the VLC plays almost any movie file. I came across an interesting article regarding the subject:
    QuickTime: About Playing .AVI Files
Learn why an .AVI file may not play as expected in QuickTime Player.
AVI stands for Audio Video Interleave. The .AVI format is what is known as a container format. It specifies a way in which a file may contain audio and video data. It does not specify how that data is encoded. The encoding of audio and video data is specified in what are known as codecs. A codec (short for COmpressor/DECompressor) tells the computer how to decode the audio and video tracks that have been encoded within the .AVI file. QuickTime Player can use numerous codecs by default. You can also add additional codecs to extend QuickTime's features using plug-ins or third-party installations.
When QuickTime opens an .AVI file, it checks to see which codecs were used to encode the audio and video tracks within it. For example, an .AVI file may contain a video track encoded in the Cinepak codec and an audio track encoded with the ALaw 2:1 codec. If both the audio and the video were compressed using a codec that QuickTime can use, the file will play normally. If the audio or video or both were created using codecs that QuickTime cannot use, you may see a message like the following:
"QuickTime is missing the software needed to perform this operation. Unfortunately, it is not available on the QuickTime server"
    or
"You may experience problems playing a video track in "filename.avi" because the required compressor could not be found."
These messages are not an indication that anything is wrong with QuickTime Player.
Lists of audio and video codecs included with and supported by QuickTime are available from the QuickTime specifications page.
Using QuickTime Player, you may be able to determine which codec was used to compress an audio or video track:
    QuickTime 6 and earlier
Open the file in QuickTime Player.
From the Movie menu, choose Get Movie Properties.
From the left pop-up menu in the Properties window, choose Sound Track or Video Track.
From the right pop-up menu, choose Format. The Format section shows the codec.
    QuickTime 7
Open the file in QuickTime Player.
From the Window menu, choose Show Movie Info. The codec is listed next to Format.
If the .AVI file is encoded using a codec that is not included with QuickTime, you might be able to find and add that codec so QuickTime can play media encoded with it. Contact the party that publishes or distributes the codec to see if a QuickTime version is available. Many third-party QuickTime components are available on the QuickTime components page.
