Footer becomes inaccessible in longer Page documents
In a document of about 70 pages and 9 sections, I consistently find I cannot access the footer in the 9th or later sections. All is ok in earlier sections. Do others have this problem? Any solution?

It's difficult to say what is going on there without being able to see the document. If you turn on Show Layout in the View menu, you may be able to tell if an object is blocking your access to the footer. Compare sections in which you have access to those where you don't.
What puzzles me is that this problem only strikes Sections well into the document - one would think a Section Break would serves as a kind of firewall to stop/reset the buildup of small positioning errors. I gather that if you Copy a misbehaving Section in the Thumbnail Pane and Paste it into the Thumbnail Pane of a blank WP Template, the problem doesn't strike. Have you tested in this way?
What fonts are you using? Did you apply them after importing the text to Pages, or are they from the original source MS Word document? One thing to try is to Paste and Match Style your copied Word content into a Pages Placeholder Text object. Even more drastic would be to first copy into Text Edit, reduce to Plain Text, then Import by Copy / Paste and Match Style into Pages.
If you can see anything unusual with Show Layout, post it here for us to examine.

2) Same situation. After the user has hit the submit button, I retrieve a list of all marked table lines. After I'm done, I'd like all lines to be unmarked. Does anyone know how to achieve that?

Can I disable all hyperlinks in a page document?
I am working on a very long pages document that was originally produced by cony-pasting several blog posts, all of which contained several hyperlinks. I would like to find a way to disable them all. Or at least to find them and replace them by normal text. Does anyone have an idea?

How do I use a font variation in a pages document? or other app for that matter? I no longer have the "viewer" - glyph option in the special characters pane (under edit in toolbar). I know the varaition ia available because I can see it in my font book. I depended on that alot so I need to find a way to still use character and embellishments. I don't want to have to go back to my od computer (from2007) Please Help!

Pages will no longer let me open files that I have previously downloaded, worked on and then saved on my mac. However it will let me open pages documents that I have started from new. I need the other documents to open and can't figure it out. PLEASE
I just got my mac a month ago so go easy on me but I was just working with the pages that was already on it, and then today I know it updated, and now I am unable to open a lot of my documents!:( Idk what you mean by the icloud version lol sorry! As for the version, when I open pages from my apps and click 'about' it says version 5.1? And when I open the document it just goes grey and kind of blinks and doesnt open? No error message or any indication of why it will not open now when I for sure have opened it in the past! Andddd for the OS X I think it is 10.9.1 ??

Pages on my iPad3 has become very slow to open documents after upgrading to ios7.
I posted on here about this a few weeks back and someone suggested force-closing Pages -- and that does indeed enable me to open things -- but I have had to force-close many times in the last 24 hours, which is worrying. Are there any other suggestions?
I am sometimes also finding that, when I have been writing something and then click on "documents" the screen goes blank, there is a wait of around a minute and then the same document is re-displayed, before clicking "documents" again lets me look at other documents -- which is a pain if I am trying to move between documents repeatedly. Again, words of wisdom on this would be great.
Pages under iOS6 opened quickly, and there was an immediate loss of performance when I upgraded. I am finding this very frustrating because I don't feel that the new Pages has added to the facilities I was using, but a slowness to open documents is frustrating.

The latest version of Mavericks does not allow a Pages document to become a 'stationery pad'! Is there a way to do this this other than through the 'Get Info' window? As Pages templates cannot be ordered in folders, my many templates are effectively unusable now and I need to find another way to order and access them.
Are you aware of that you can still use Pages 09 on Mavericks? You don't have to go thru the grieves of using the crippled Pages 5. Pages 09 should bi in Applications/iWork 09 folder.

Long time to open Pages document and DocX
I keep about 20 Pages documents open. Then, opening an existing Pages document takes 30-45 seconds, or longer sometimes.
Need to stop the waiting.
Regarding docx files. It takes :10 seconds for a document of text only to open. Much longer if there're images or anything other than text in the document.
Is this a normal? If not, how can it be sped up?What Yvan is saying is that your open documents are stored on your relatively slow hard drive.
AS you have more and more open with Pages perhaps having to refresh reflows as you edit them, it will get slower and slower.
You can set your computer up with a very fast SSD Solid State Flash Drive or simply not open so many documents at one time.
Alternatively use a fast text editor with better methods of work. I can't see why you need so many files open at one time, but you know best how you need to work.

I can no longer email a Pages document. When I click Share my Share Via Email is grayed out. If I click pdf the window disappears and nothing happens. Any ideas?

I have a long numbers document, that I'd like to make more print friendly.
It is a list of my DVD's that I just listed one after the other (1-200) when I tried to print it, it would be 18 pages,
can I change it to be more like columns side by side to save paper?S,
I assume that you also have Pages on your computer (or some other capable WP program). I also assume that you have eliminated any unnecessary columns, so you have a 1-column table in Numbers.
When it comes time to print, Copy the entire Table: Click on the table name in the Sheets Pane and Command-C.
Switch to Pages, open a blank WP template and set the number of columns to 3 or so. With the Text Insertion Cursor flashing on the first line of the first column of the blank template, Command-V. Your table should paste into the Pages document as an Inline Object and will Wrap on the page as you desire. Then Print in Pages.

When creating a multi page document, some of my thumbnails become linked and therefore impossible to rearrange. What am I doing wrong and how do I correct this?
The pages in sections stick together because the text flows between the pages.
Insert a section break to isolate pages between sections.
Now this all works in Pages '09, unfortunately Pages 5 doesn't let you.

How do I number a Pages document in outline view
I have a very long document done in outline view and I want to print it with pages numbers. They do not show up in the outline view. I have them in the regular (non-outline view) but they disappear when I go to outline view. The file is 50 pages long. I really need the page numbers.
The header and footer items are checked in the Document inspector, but they do not appear in the outline view when I try to click on them.

DennisThe document wont print in an outline mode anyway. It will print in normal mode with page numbers even if you see it outlined on the screen.

Convert Pages document to PDF and maintain html links accurately
Hi - I am trying to convert a Pages document to pdf, simple right? go to Print / PDF / Save as pdf...
I have also tried Print / Save as Postscript and Print / Open in PDF
with the same results, which are...
Pages dutifully converts to pdf, but on some pages where I have multiple links the formatting position of the links is all over the place on the page, some links are conflated on the page so it says one thing 'www.bbc.co.uk' for example but when you click that link it links to 'www.cnn.com' instead because CNN is the link a little further on in the line, or in the line of text above, or whole sections of the page (half of one page) become a link!
I have checked the formatting positions and link lables over and over again in Pages and they are spot on, no confusion, no leaking in positional accuracy, it is only when converting to pdf or postscript
I have many html links in my document so it is vital that the exact position of the formatted links in Pages is converted accurately.
Any advice on
a) using Pages Print command accurately? or
b) third party apps (really dont want to go there)
that might convert more accurately?

I went back to 09 as suggested which identified the section in question as having a whole load of text that had become associated with one of the links - goodness knows how or why - but this wasn't apparent in the Pages 5 doc, nothing explicit signified that there was an issue with the formatting until converting to pdf
It took me a while to strip it all out without losing all the other formatting! but done now and converting beautifully to pdf with complete accuracy in terms of formatting positions of linked text...
I then reimported back into Pages 5 to see if I could make sense of it in the same way, long story short no chance, there is still background formatting in there, despite going through it line by line, character by character and removing all traces of any link through the 'right click' 'remove link' function - as soon as you convert to pdf lots of text becomes active again even though it is absolutely not visible in the Pages 5 doc
Clearly, despite a strong desire to continue in 5 from a being uptodate perspective, I shall stick to the 09 world and wait for Apple to sort things out.
If anyone from Apple is reading this, it has cost me approx 2 days of messing about to get to a point where I give up on 5 and return to 09. Please resolve as soon as possible! -
How to create one extremely long page?
I use Acrobat 11 as my default printer. I create a 25 page weekly reoccurring Microsoft project report using Acrobat standard built-in 11" X 17" printer default. I would like to create a second copy that is only one page long for the purpose of reviewer to scroll it on screen with out interruption of the automatic page breaks. (This review copy would never be sent to physical printer.) I have used the 11" X 17" printer default (rename it) and changed the size to 140" X 17". I get a message, "The printer connection isn't working. Check your printer connections, and try again.". If I reduce the size back to 129" X 17" it functions again and does create a two page document. 130" seem to be the point it fails.
Is there a better way or different setup I might use?

The problem is every individual page has the documents global header and footer at each page break. Smooth scrolling, seeing half the bottom of one page and the top of the next page does not eliminate there existence. That's what I was hoping for by printing it as one long document. The header at the top and the footer at the bottom and all the information unbroken in the middle.

Palm Desktop entry will not stay put
