Footers won't print in Office or Preview PDF's

I have had trouble with my HP printer printing footers and printing on the lower portions of the pages.
I am using Microsoft Word from Office 2008. I am also having the problem when printing pdf's from Preview.
My printer will print borderless photos some I am assuming that the problem is in a setting. I've looked everywhere I know to look.
Some help would be appreciated.

  • Documents downloaded via Firefox won't print or appear in preview

Documents opened with Firefox won't print or even appear in preview. The document can be viewed but won't print. When trying to print (or see in preview) only a blank page appears. This happens even when the document is saved or made a PDF file. This began with 3.6.13 and continues with 3.6.15. Curiously, documents saved or made a PDF before this began ~ 2 weeks ago can be still be printed and viewed in preview. I'm using an iMac with OS X 10.6.6 and a CanonMX 300 printer

    Hi Lidia.C,
I understand that you are passionate about fixing this issue and I am sorry that it is so difficult to print.
It is possible to change the default program that reads pdfs if it does not work from adobe. This can be done from the "3bar" > Options > Applications menu. [[Set how Firefox handles different types of files]]
Does downloading the file and saving it first, then opening the file in another program allow you to print in the meantime?
If there is a lockfile in the profile, it may be that preferences are not allowed to be changed. [[How to fix preferences that won't save]]
    I hope this helps.

  • Won't print post office labels

My printer won't print U.S. Post Office labels. When I send the label to the printer it does noting and it doesn't even show up in the queue. This is suddenly a new problem as I have repeatedly printed many labels in the past.

For those of you you who are still looking up an answer, I found this:

  • Laserjet 200 color m251 won't print in office picture manager

Windows 7 pro, service pack 1. HP laserjet 200 color m251 pcl6 will not print in office picture manager or photo viewer. will print using quick time.
    any suggestions?

    Hello BrokerDen.
I understand your Laserjet 200 printer is unable to print from office picture manager or photo viewer. Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall these programs to see if this resolves your issue?
Something else you can try is applying an alternate print driver that could be compatible with your programs. Please follow these instructions in this thread.
How is this printer connected? Wireless or USB.
Let me know if this resolves your issue.
Looking forward to hear from you.

  • Office X bulleted copy won't print; can't save as PDF

This is an odd problem. I've printed a document several times now in different fonts using Word X. Every time, it prints until it gets to bulleted text. Then it stops printing - including any non-bulleted text following the bulleted text. Weirder yet, it won't allow you to save the file as a PDF. It says it will but the PDF never shows up. If I un-bullet the copy (using formatting), everything is just fine.
    Any ideas? Thanks.

Okay, upon further review, there were still more Arial and Arial Black fonts in another folder. Once I got rid of those, everything is fine. But what a mess! The average Mac user who runs into this problem from installing SL will have no idea how to fix it. I'm a big Apple fan, but this is something that should only happy to PC people. I'm sure Apple could have found a way to get rid of duplicate fonts automatically.

  • Elements 9 won't print a calendar to a pdf

I've created a calendar in Photoshop Elements for 2012.  I cannot print it to a pdf file so I can take it to a printer.  It says it's printing, but after a few minutes it just stops.  I can send it to a regular printer.  I have Acrobat X, so that shouldn't be a barrier.  Suggestions please.

Are you on mac or windows?
On windows if the print to pdf doesn't work you can save the calender as a pdf.
After you create the calender don't press Done or Print, go to File-Save As and choose Acrobat PDF instead of the pse project format.

  • Preview won't print many installed fonts

Since updating to OS 10.5, Preview won't print many fonts from my pdf documents. The odd thing is, Acrobat will! The fonts are all installed in my library, so I can't figure out why Preview won't recognize them when printing. Any ideas?

Some more info: I've tried deleting prefs, ran Disk Warrior, repaired permissions, added a new user... nothing helps. What is more, when I go to print, many of Preview's drop down menu items ("color", "print settings", etc) don't fully display their information. Help!

  • Footer won't print

I am a new user of pages, and quite frankly, very frustrated with it. I am proficient in MSPublisher, and could have this project I'm currently working on completed a hundred times over in the time I have been working on this one project.
I am now at the printing stage...FINALLY....and my footers won't print. They are present in print preview, but when the paper spits out of the printer, there are NO FOOTERS!!! In layout view they are greyed out, but when layouts are hidden, they are visible and "manipulatable" (that is my own word) :o)
    HELP!! PLEASE!!

    Hello pentimento,
when you click on the first tab (the empty document) of the infopanel and then the "Document" button below on the left side, you have six number input fields inside the second section. With the two at the bottom, you can adjust the distances of the header and of the footer from the corresponding document borders.
    Frank.

  • Pages File Won't Print

I created a flier that won't print as a pages or PDF file. I redid it with a new template, and then it printed. Problem is, I really like the old one and want to use that one instead. Help?!
    Thanks

Man am I glad I found this reply... I was was cursing and ready to throw my powerbook into the road. Well, not quite that bad but I was really getting ******. What is the deal with this? Gloss paper, plain paper... who cares. Why does it matter for just a simple page print?

  • Acrobat Pro XI Mac won't print a .pdf file, but Apple Preview will print correctly

    Hello,
I have Acrobat Pro XI for Mac.  recently I've run into pdf files that will show the document on screen ok, show up on print preview screen ok, but when I send it to a printer I either get:
    1.  no printout... the document passes through the printer queue ok, but nothing comes out (no blank paper, nothing).  no data seems to even reach the printer/print server.  no error.  the print job basically vanishes into thin air like the job was never sent
    2.  prints out with all the characters of a text substituted with squares (again, no error. just prints squares instead of text)
But when I print the same document using Apple's Preview program on the same machine, the file prints out fine.
I experience this problem with two different Macs, with two different OS versions.  Again both machines will print the .pdf file fine using Apple Preview, but not with Acrobat Pro XI.
I've searched for this problem, but no one seems to have this problem. I've tried just printing one page, etc., and no difference (won't print, or print wrong using Acrobat, but prints fine using Preview)
the files are typically sent via e-mail from a vendor, or a web downloaded form (invoice, forms filled out.  some are secure, some are not).  and these are from multiple sources.
Any ideas what might be the problem, and how to fix this?
    system:
Mac Pro (early 2008) and MacBook Pro (mid-2011)
MacOS 10.8.4 and 10.6.8 (multiple computers have this same problem)
    Acrobat Pro XI, 11.0.04
printer: HP LaserJet 5MP (yes.. old.. but it works) via HP JetDirect + print server on  LAN

I just found this solution on another board, I tried it  (I removed the same file listed below) and it worked for me....
Safari won’t save or print PDFs: how to fix

If Safari won’t save or print PDFs (but views them without any problems), you probably have an Adobe PDF plug-in installed. In Safari, go to Help->Installed Plug-ins and do a search for “PDF.” If you have anything with “PDF” in it other than “WebKit built-in PDF,” that is probably the culprit.
On my computer, the problem was “AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin”. To remove it, I quit Safari, did a Spotlight search (Command-Option space) for that file name, and then dragged it to the trash. When I restarted Safari, I could print and save PDFs again. You can also manually find the plugins by going to the system “Library”  folder (the one at the root of your hard disk, not in your user folder) and looking in the “Internet Plug-Ins” folder.
    I’m on OS X 10.8.2, running Safari 6.0.2 (8536.26.17).

  • Preview won't print

Preview won't print most PDF files that I've created using the 'Save as PDF' in the print dialog window. It just spits out blank pages. If I select 'Preview' it show the document correctly but telling it to Print just produces a lot of blank pages.
This also happens to many PDF files that I've downloaded and were not created on my machine.
Any ideas what the problem is?
    Thanks in advance

Sounds like a driver issue. Has this ever worked or is this the first time you've tried? I'd test in a new user to be sure it isn't a corrupt Preview preference (which you could isolate in ~/Library/Preferences/). If the same thing happens in a new user, I'd say it's the printer settings. Try resetting the printer system via Printer Setup Utility and then go back to Sys Prefs > Print & Fax to add your printer. You could need to re-install the driver as well if that doesn't resolve. Good luck!

  • Excel doc created on PC, edited on my Mac, sent back to PC won't print properly.  Do I have to buy Microsoft office for Mac?

I have to complete their Excel form, send back, they add to it, they want to print it and say it won't print as I see it.  I don't want to buy Microsoft office for Mac just for this... any ideas?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
A couple of ideas... when you exported the document did you check "do compatibility check" for Word? If not that's probably it. Other solutions: - OpenOffice, or NeoOffice play well with MS Word. Either of them are free downloads.

  • Using Aurora 5.0a2 and is suddenly won't print or do print preview.

Says "printer can't be found" after Print Preview; and "do you want to install a printer" after Print. Clicking Yes I get Print Spooler service is not running, but checking that reveals it is. I recently installed a Java upgrade; tried uninstalling but it can't find the .msi file and fails.
I'm using Windows XP Professional; happens everytime I try to print. I've tried reinstalling 5.0a2 via update but still won't print; also tried stopping and starting Printer Spooler service and shutting down my computer, then restarting it and Aurora. Nada.

Many thanks for taking the trouble to reply.
It's all very mysterious but it seems to have corrected itself.  Eventually the error message "out of paper" appeared yesterday (it had plenty), I pushed in the paper and things started printing again.  I was also able to scan again.  Not sure if it was down to a Google glitch or what but we're up and running again.
    Merci beaucoup!

  • HP1536dnf won't print from Preview

    Hello
I bought a HP 1536dnf laser printer on the Apple store site some months ago, and have never liked it, but it worked ok, until today it suddenly will no longer print files in the Preview program (two small pdf files) - this was never a problem until today.  The odd thing is, the printer will still print other files (e.g., files in Excel and Word), and I have not changed any settings or downloaded any upgrades to either the printer or the other programs.
Can anyone suggest where I might begin with this problem - if possible, I want to avoid having to send back the printer.
    Thanks in advance. K

I'm printing from the same model laptop and have no issues.  Suggest running the HP utility and check the firmware version.  My printer is running firmware version 2014-06-30 and is working flawlessly from any one of five other Macs of various vintage, all running 10.10.2.
Try updating the printer's firmware if yours is old and see if it helps your performance.
Current Firmware version is 2014-10-23 and can be found here:

  • Microsoft Office X won't print, everything else does fine

At work, I have to use MS Office. I am on a Windows network printing through the server to an HP Laserjet 2100 PCL5e. All my apps will print to the printer correctly except MS Office. It states it is printing and the dialog box closes. All that comes out of the printer is blank paper, but with the correct number of pages for the document that was being printed.
    Any thoughts or help?
    Thanks,
    Jamie

I just installed Snow Leopard and thought everything was just fine, until I went to print MS Office X documents (yes, I still use Office X -- never had a problem with it until now). I got the blank pages too. Fishing around online for info (via Mactopia and other sites), I came across some references to font issues in 10.6 -- specifically that 10.6 installs new versions of several common fonts, including Times New Roman. Apparently the 10.6 version conflicts with the older Microsoft version.
Solution number one: Just by way of experiment, I replaced all the Times New Roman in a sample document with plain old Times. The document printed with no problem (BTW, I'm not having -- knock on wood -- problems with with wireless printing and printing to my HP Laserjet 1300).
Solution number two: I searched out the versions of Times New Roman that were contained in various font folders. I trashed the old Microsoft version. On my machine, I had to trash it from two separate locations where it resided: my user/Library/Fonts folder, and also the Application/Office/Fonts folder. The new 10.6 version of the font is in the hard drive (main system)/Library/Fonts folder. I left this one in place. Documents that I opened now in Office X -- even those with Times New Roman, which I use a lot -- printed with no problem.
NOTE: Times New Roman is not the only font that has these conflicts. Arial, e.g., is also affected, and several others. But, as I said, Times New Roman is one that I have used extensively, in almost every MS Office document I've ever created.
Bottom line: Try checking the fonts used in your documents. If one of these "conflicted fonts" is used, then substitute another font, or trash the old versions of these fonts, and leave only the Snow Leopard version.
