    The calendar week view on my iphone 4s starts on a Sunday.  I am synching with outlook on my computer (pc)  which starts the week view on a Monday which I prefer.  How do I change my iphone calendar view to start the week on a Monday?  I am in Australia.
    I have just noticed the other discussion points - mine is set to Australia.
    Dear Apple - as the day that the week starts on can depend on country and religion - how about making it an option that the user can change????

    I believe the week view on the iPhone is handled by the Region settings in the phone. I am not aware of any other manner to change it, as you can with Outlook.

  • How can I create a new calendar that starts the week on monday?

    Excel can do it, but I really like the template for calendars in numbers. That calendar is for printing it, so i don't need any special functionalities, only the template, with blank cells i can hand-write in.
    Thanks!

    Hi And95es,
    The Calendar template is very clever. Changing it to start on Monday would be a huge task. Here is an idea for a non-automatic calendar. Start with a table for month and year. Hide the table name if you like.
    A1 is a pop-up menu to choose a month. Type the year in B1.  I am trying to come up with a formula to show the day of the week for that month and year in B2. This is because you will have to type a 1 into the correct day in the calendar table to generate dates for the whole month.
    Create an  outline calendar like this:
    A2 contains the number 1
    B2=A2+1 and fill right
    A4=G2+1
    B4=A4+1 and Fill Right.
    Now select Row 4 and copy.
    Paste into every second row below.
    Format the table to make cells big enough to write in. Save as Template because you are about to make a calendar and you will need the template for next month.
    Type a 1 into the cell that is the first of that month. Now clear contents of cells you don't need.
    It would be handy to have a formula to show weekday for the first of the month. Not essential!
    Regards,
    Ian.

  • Calendar: start the Week view with Monday?

    When using the native Calendar application on the iPad, is it possible to have the Week view start with Monday rather than Sunday? If yes, how would I set the application to look that way? Thanks for the help.

    Yes, my old TREO was super for this. When you change your US calendar to UK, you also change the keyboard, and $ becomes ₤ (If that worked, it should be the British pound sign.) I wrote to Apple numerous times to no avail.
    I gave up and downloaded "Week Cal" after some google research for the Monday week calendar. It works.

  • How can I start the week on Monday?

    I would like to edit the calendar to begin the week on Monday.  How can  do that?

    The first day of the week is controlled via Settings > General > International > Region Format, which also controls phone number and currency formatting - 'UK' is an example that starts on a Monday.

  • Cannot resolve symbol when the classes are in the same package

    i have one interface and two classes all in the same package. am getting " cannot resolve symbol", when the code refers to the interface or the class .
    the package name is collections.impl and
    the directory i used to store all the java files:
    c:\jdk\bin\collections\impl.
    isthere any othe option other than compiling all the files from the comand line at the same time?
    please help - i m new to java.

    If you have:
    I.java:
    package some;
    public interface I {
        void method();
    }A.java:
    package some;
    public class A implements I {
        public void method() {
            new B();
    }B.java:
    package some;
    public class B implements I {
        public void method() {
            new A();
    }in c:/temp/some for example
    you can compile your files with
    javac c:/temp/some/*.java
    It seems that you have errors in your code.
    Recheck it twice or use NetBeans IDE(http://www.netbeans.org) it will do this for you ;)

  • How do I get my Calendar to start the week fr Monday instead of Sunday?

    On my Macbook Pro, I am able to set my Calendar to start on Monday which appears farthest left.  However, on my iPhone (and iPad), the Calendar starts on the default Sunday and I don't see any settings to change that.  Can anyone help?

    Thanks for the tip, Mactagg.  Yes, it's infuriating.
    My settings are for Singapore and we follow the British system, yet the Calendar still starts from Sunday which makes me wonder why Apple decided that the UK Calendar should start from Monday...
    True, although there are plenty of good stuff about Apple, it seems that perhaps some middle manager somewhere has screwed certain features up such as Bluetooth which is horrible but that's for another story and thread...
    I will still stick to Singapore settings as it affects my phone number settings.

  • Something Funny to Start the Week

     Man Spites Ex-Wife by Cutting Their Possessions in Half http://www.msn.com/en-ca/video/peopleandplaces/man-spites-ex-wife-by-literally-cutting-their-possessions-in-half/vi-AAbOVK2 I checked his eBay site but there were no items for sale ... probably removed by eBay. I have a sneaking suspicion that male readers will nod their heads and find this funnier than most females (no negative stereotype intended).  A comment based on many men I know LOL

    My sister was telling us about how she and her exhusband split up their household.He left her to decide what he got and what she got, since she knew the housegoods best. He just wanted a complete set of china, pots, cutlery etc for his new place. And linens etc.So he got the supermarket plastic containers, she got the Tupperware.He got the 12 pc Melamine kitchen dishes. She got the 10 piece Royal Doulton.He got the Canadian Tire stainless steel cutlery. She took the sterling service. Her new husband listened with a look of growing concern."When I broke up with (ex-wife),' he said.' I made the same deal. And I just now realized why I had all mismatched china."

  • How to return the week number starting from Sunday as the first day

    Hi Friends,
    My application needs to have a report for the weekly totals and must have the Sunday as the first day for the week. For example, January of 2005 should be in the report for having six weeks, Jan 1 is Saturday, this is week 1, Week 2 is from 2 to 8, and the last week , week 6 has 30 and 31. Days need not be displayed, only the week number as follows:
    Week Number Total Sales
    =========== =========
    Week 1 8,525
    Week 2 8,168
    Week 3
    Week 4
    Week 5
    Week 6
    The discoverer hierarchies function for week (eul_date_trunc(item_date, '"W"W')) seems to start the week from the first day of the month regardless of the day. Oracle function TO_CHAR(item_date, 'W') does the same thing, .As the result, the January of 2005 has only 5 weeks.
    Any help or advice for this issue will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you very much,
    J.K

    Try this
    ---------------------------------------------actual formula---------------
    select ceil(
    ( to_number(to_char(to_date('1-'||to_char(sysdate,'MON-YYYY'),'DD-MON-YYYY'),'D')) -1
    + to_number(to_char(sysdate,'DD'))
    ) / 7
    week_number
    from dual
    e.g try different dates below by replacing 31-Jan-2005
    select ceil(
    ( to_number(to_char(to_date('1-'||to_char(to_date('31-JAN-2005'),'MON-YYYY'),'DD-MON-YYYY'),'D') ) -1
    + to_number(to_char(to_date('31-JAN-2005'),'DD'))
    ) / 7
    week_number
    from dual
    How does it work
    week number is calculated by dividing the current day number by number of days
    so in your case if the week starts at a different day , you just add the offset and divide by 7
    In the first part, i am finding the week day number for the 1st day of the current month and this is used as offset.
    Hope this helps

  • TS4000 The Week Starts on a Monday Apple!!!

    Please tell me how to get the Calendar on my 4S to start the week on Monday as it always did prior to the recent iOS upgrade. Apart from the fact that it's wrong, it's also highly annoying!!!

    Hi, believe it or not I've checked that loads of times and the region is already correctly selected. It's so annoying to have your weekend split either side of the working week when you're trying to plan ahead using this calendar. You should be able to selct your preference - I'm fairly sure I used to be able to do so with Apple products... Come on Apple sort it out!!!

  • Calendar crashes -  Monday as 1st day of the week

    I have an ipad1, running iOS 5.1.1. It's sync to iCloud. I deleted entries to Sept 1. It was stuck on month view of September. I couldn't change it to another month or view.
    I soft reset. no change.
    I hard reset. no change.
    I factory reset and restored iPad with Itunes and restored old settings. no change.
    I factory reset iPad with iTunes as new ipad. Calendar was behaving.
    I went into settings and personalised it.
    It's is now September. when I click on September month view Calendar crashes. Other views are ok. Month view of other months is ok.
    Then I realised that to have a the month view starting on Monday as the first day, I have the general>international>region format set as UK (I'm in Australia). When I set it back to Australia, then Calendar doesn't crash.
    So the factory reset served to reset the region to my local region.
    The work around for Apple changing the Calendar start day to Sunday was to change the region to one where the start day was Monday. It had been working fine until recently. I'm not sure when the crashing started happening, perhaps on the last iOS update.
    So, it may have been that a mismatch in local region to region designated on the settings that crashes the Calendar. It may be that selecting UK crashes the Calendar.
    Now, Calendar crash problem solved. This might help someone else with the same problem.
    Calendar format starting on unpreferred day reintroduced.
    I would like to see my month view start the day as Monday, not Sunday. Does anyone have a solution?

    Thanks .
    I've managed to fix it:
    Go to Settings / Mail Contacts and Calendars / Start the week on
    Change from Sunday to Monday.
    It appears people in Brazil are the only ones affected.
    It's a good work-around  while apple does not fix this bug.

  • Day of the week and the day of the month out of sync

    I'm not sure this is the right forum to post this, so I apologize in advance.
    When I open iCal on my iPhone 4 in day view I see Oct 29 with a W for Wednesday on top of it although below the days of the month it reads: Tuesday, October 29, 2013.
    Is anyone experiencing this problem? Any solution?
    TIA

    Thanks for replying, ChrisJ4203. It's defintely a problem with Brazilian users. Here's a workaround a countryman posted:

    Mesmo problema aqui. Como consertar:
    Ajustes / Mail contatos e calendários / Iniciar a semana em:
    Mude de "Domingo" para "Segunda"
    Parece que somente pessoas no Brasil foram afetadas.
    É uma boa forma de contornar enquanto a Apple não repara a bug.

  • How to define begin (weekday) of the week

    Hi together
    I hope someone can give me a quick help - I can not find an answer in the forum.
    Our factory starts working on sundays and finishes on fridays.
    We are using DP and PPDS. The time stream we use is created on a daily basis. When I create a new time stream it is possible to put in the weekdays, but they get sorted before the periods are created. We do not use buckets.
    When I have a look at the week, it always starts with monday. Correct (for us) the week would start on sunday and end on saturday.
    Is the a way to get that?
    Thank you for your help.
    Bernhard

    Hi,
    Time stream has a tab for 'change calculation rule'. Select week from dropdown and then a column ' weekday' will appear for entry. Enter 7 first if you intend to start the week from sunday.
    Note there is a field 'calendar' in 'Header data' tab which has a field for calendar which is basically factory calendar in ECC. Probably the days in factory calendar of ECC also should have sunday as weekday , otherwise inconsistency may appear.
    With regards,
    Mrinal

  • Getting the same day of the week from a previous year in a Power Query calc column

    Hi Power Query users,
    Would like to get your suggestions on this problem. I have a customer that wants to see the previous year's sales for the same day of the week. So today is Friday July 25, 2014. Customer would like to see sales for the closest Friday on the previous year,
    which was Friday July 26, 2013. Next year on Friday July 26, 2015, customer would see the sales for Friday July 25, 2014 and so on. Customer operates 7 days a week, all days of the year including holidays.
    What is the most elegant way to do this? I am assuming the best thing to do is to add this date as a calculated column in the date table, but I am not quite sure the best way to write the formula (including handling of edge cases - leap years, providing
    null when the previous year is not part of the date table, etc).
    I am starting with the
    date dimension as presented by Matt Masson.
    Please help if you have any formula suggestions for this.
    Thanks

    Okay, I'm making a couple of assumptions, so please let me know if these assumptions are incorrect:
    1) Instead of all sales data being in a single column, current year and last year sales are provided in different columns,
    2) The previous year sales column shows the sales occurring on the same
    date as the current year sales (so in your example, 43214 is the sales figure for 6/1/2013.
    If the above assumptions are true, we need to modify how the lookup is done. Let's assume that you created a custom column named SameDayOfWeekLastYear. Create another column called Previous Year Date, using the following function (Date_PreviousYear)
    (date) =>
    let
        PreviousYearDate = Date.AddYears(date,-1),
        PreviousYearDateAdjusted = if (Date.Day(date)=29 and Date.Month(date) = 2) then
                                       #date(9999,1,1)
                                   else PreviousYearDate
    in
        PreviousYearDateAdjusted
    Incidentally, I created this function the week before your query, for a different purpose. In that case, it was to get the previous year sales occurring on the same
    date as the current year sales. It actually gets to your starting point, but with all the sales data in a single column to start with. However, when the current year is a leap year and you apply the Date.AddYears function, February 29th is calculated
    as February 28th of the previous year. If you then do a lookup for previous year sales, you get February 28th sales looked-up twice (the real Feb 28th and the bogus one resulting from taking February 29th back one year). The PreviousYearDateAdjusted identifier
    puts a truly bogus date instead of a duplicated Feb 28th - one that will always return null when looking up the sales value.
    This new date column will then be used to lookup the row of the previous year sales column that corresponds to the dates in the SameDayOfWeekLastYear column.
    Assuming that the last step in your query is InsertedCustom1, create another custom column (Previous Year Net_Same Day?), which returns the sales on the same day as the current year (the result that you're after). The formula would be:
    LookupValue(InsertedCustom1[Previous Year Net], InsertedCustom1[Previous Year Date], [SameDayOfWeekLastYear])
    where LookupValue is the custom function mentioned previously. After creating this new custom column, you can then remove all of the columns you don't need.
    Hope that the preceding is somewhat clear.
