Footnotes in iAuthor

I know that in Pages one can add footnotes to the text. But is it correct that iAuthor does not provide this feature? Or do I miss something here.

Please do not bother to answer. I came across another seemingly impossible thing to do: removing the frame from a textbox that had no such thing according to the inspector. Now I am giving up on iAuthor.
My sincere apologies for the noise.

I didn't have any problem but I used Pages 5.1. HAve you updated Pages?

  • Epub: Footnotes go to wrong location

I am on Indesign CS5. I have managed to make an ebook that is perfect apart for one thing:
the footnotes do not take me to the desired note, but to the last pages of the final chapter. If I browse a few more pages then I can see the note. Clicking on the note number then neatly takes me back. Apparently  Indesign sees no division between the end of the chapter (or of the book) and the starting of the footnotes.
(NB: I already use the Teus de Jong script to against the footnotes/crossrefs bug).
    Thanks for your time.

I have the google app, so I can go there, go to Maps and enter it in there and it works fine, but that seems like a lot of extra work. Anyone find a fix?
I just tried this ("5410 Wilshire Blvd, 90036") and a red pin drops down to a precise street address (looks to be over Vince). Where does your red pin fall?
Also, I'm finding it near impossible to view traffic on the map if you have a route marked.
This is a problem I experience as well. Unfortunately the best solution I have found is that once the purple route line has been drawn after tapping Route, to just toggle over to Search and the purple will go away. This way you can see traffic conditions as you have a general idea of where the purple is.

  • Is it possible to display Footnotes in column layout?

I have many small footnotes (one or two words). To prevent wasting space with the footnotes I would like to have the footnotes in a two column layout and the body text in one column.
Is this possible in Framemaker (latest version)?

No, not in any version. It's a hardcoded function of the text frame
itself. You can't even split the frame manually. The footnotes
automatically go to the bottom of the text frame holding the
    paragraphs with the footnote.

  • I am trying to get a footnote repeated on each page of a report- it only appears on first page - how do I make it appear on each page please?

How do I get the same footnote to appear on each page of a report - it only shows on  the first page?? I went in through View and Layout per instructions. Thanks.

Hard to tell w/out knowing exactly which application and version you are drafting this report in.  Often the footer on the first page is distinct from the footers of the second page through end - quick fix: add the footer to the second page and you should then be able to format it to continue on through the end of the report.

  • How do I insert the same footnote twice?

I have a reference page at the end of my document and don't want to have the actualy footers with the citation at the bottom of every page, is there a way to enter the same footnote on its own and multiple time? (ie. using the footnote style 1 for multiple points as its from the same source).
Hope someone can help my paper is due tomorrow! haha

Your question was already asked and answered in a thread entitled : Reference same footnote
The answer is : you can't.

  • How do I add footnotes/endnotes in Pages for iPad 2?

Hi everyone. Like many people I was super excited to be able to use my iPad 2 as a word processor with the Pages app. I have a macbook black from 2007 and it is extremely heavy to carry around everyone. I'm a graduate student so mobility for me is key.  Anyway, so I am writing an academic paper write now in Pages for iOS but I can't figure out how to add footnotes/endnotes to cite my sources. I can't find anything online relating to this topic. Can you tell me how to do this? I certainly hope Pages has this capability because without something so fundamental, how can it be the least bit useful? Thanks so much!

It is not built in, but you can at least create and edit footnotes (I do not use end notes, but from limited testing, it appears to work with endnotes as well but converts them to footnotes). It sounds complicated when you break it down into steps as I do below, but it really is easy and intuitive.
FIRST: The underlying concept. If you have the latest Pages for iPad, then when it imports a Word document it imports footnotes (and endnotes) and you can edit them.
With that in mind, here is how you can create footnotes on the iPad.
#1 In Word create a one short sentence shell text with a short footnote, like "See the cat run /fn1" "fn/1 The cat was black").
#2 Import that shell document into your iPad, say with email "open using Pages."
#3 Save that shell document as your sour dough starter so to speak.
#4 Now create your new Pages iPad document.
#5 When you are ready to create your FIRST new footnote, copy and paste the shell sentence with shell footnote from your saved starter shell document into your new iPages document.
#5. Edit the shell sentence and footnote to a real sentence and footnote in new document.
#6 Thereafter, as you add new footnotes, either copy / paste one from new document or shell and edit. You will see they renumber properly, even when moved.

  • How to I Make Footnotes in Numbers?

I'd like to add footnotes to a spreadsheet in Numbers but can't seem to find a way to do it. The dude at my One-on-One session said my only option is to use the comment feature but I find that hard to believe. Is that really the case? Footnotes are such a common feature in financial reports that I find it surprising that Apple wouldn't have built that functionality into the program. Any suggestions about how others add notes to charts or tables would be much appreciated.

    Lagoldberg8397,
If you are talking about notes to the financial statements, not simply a few little footnotes, you should consider iWork as a suite of applications that work together. Spreadsheets are spreadsheets, they are meant to have tables and charts, not a lot of text. Pages is probably the better choice for the final document if these are financial statements with an actual set of "notes to the financial statements".
You can create your financial tables in Numbers and the notes in Pages then copy/paste the financial tables to Pages. That way the footnotes can flow across pages. The tables must be sized to fit correctly on the page or else they will get reformatted when pasted into Pages.
Alternatively, if you want the final document to be in Numbers, you can create the notes in Pages, copy them, then paste to the Numbers canvas and you'll get a text box. I would recommend copying the notes in sections so that each time you paste into Numbers you create a text box that will fit on a page.

  • Can I insert a picture in the aside element for a footnote on epub 3?

I'm testing some things and I always get stuck when trying to insert images inside the element aside for a footnote.
Is there a solution for this or it's an ibooks bug?

  • Is there a way to get footnotes in Pages to flow across different pages?

    Hello,
Currently, I am finding that my document has a lot of white space wherever I have a footnote of more than ten lines or so. As a result, my document looks awkward and has large gaping sections on pages where there is very little main body but a large footnote. I am sure this has to do with footnotes not flowing over onto the next page, and I wanted to find out if there was a way to help sort out this problem.
    Any help is much appreciated.

You can convert songs to Mono.  First, go to iTunes > Preferences > General > Import Settings.  Under the encoder menu is another drop-down menu for Settings.  Choose "Custom" and you'll be able to select a choice for Mono.  Once that is set, use the iTunes > Advanced menu to create a mono version.  The original stereo version will remain in your library unless you choose to delete it.

  • How can I add a custom footnote at the beginning of my document?

Hi, I need to start a document adding my credentials using a custom footnote (the traditional * footnote...), but can't seem to do that without having to change the whole numbering of the other footnotes in the document. Is there any way to do it?

Just curious: Why whould you want to add navigation Rules at run time. I believe the navigation rules should be set to begin with - "by s/w Architect Design".
Else you can always use Redirect / Forward.

  • Is there a way to scroll between footnotes in the new pages version and to actually copy an old text with footnotes into the new version without losing them or having them in the text?

Since my update I am no longer able to scroll between the footnotes. I have to klick on each one to change something. That is unbearable since I have to write a lot of academic texts which usally have a ton of different footnotes. I also can not copy some of my old texts into the new version without losing the footnotes or having them in the middle of my text. Does anyone know a trick or if apple will change that for good? Thx for any support - it really drives me crazy

Isn't that you asking how to get it (undefined) back?
If you never had Pages '09, you can buy it from Amazon very cheaply:

Menu > Apple > System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts Application Shortcuts > + > Application: Browse to Pages > Menu Title: Footnote > Keyboard Shortcut: hit combination of keys > Add
You will need to restart Pages but should then see it next to your Menu item.

  • How can I format footnote fonts in pages--for all footnotes in a document?

I am just starting to use Pages and am writing a paper with footnotes.  The paper is in Times New Roman 12, but the footnotes come automatically in Helvetica 10.  How can I format all the footnotes so they automatically appear in TNR 12?

Change one word in a footnote
    Select that word
In the Style drawer click on the triangle for the Footnote in the paragraph style section. You have to move the cursor to the left to see the trinagle
Choose Redefine style from the selection

  • How do I get Pages to import references and post the information as a footnote from Logos Bible Software?

I want to move to the iPad as my only computer, but am a bit frustrated by the loss of some features in the IOS version of Pages. I need the ability to create structured outlines with footnote and endnote capability. Logos Bible Software imports many cross references and properly annotates passages that I copy and paste in Microsoft Word on my PC, but I cannot get pages to do the samething on my iPad. In fact I really miss the outline generation capability in Pages.  Is this something that will be addressed? Are there workarounds?
