For Apple/Logic Employees Only

Studio19 wrote, "Logic is my instrument". This holds true for me and other forum members such as Rohan S., Justin C., William L., who clearly who have used Logic for years as a drop-dead serious piece of software. "Pro" as it were.
In a nutshell, we love Logic. But as this forum is testament to, Logic is buggy in drop-dead serious ways. Now, did that last sentence get a defensive rise out of anyone? Well, it shouldn't. It should be cause for concern.
I, for one, would like to see the merest hint of evidence that Apple is actually concerned about the future of this software. As two of your phone techs told me recently, Apple does pay attention to what's posted in this forum, as they do to Feedback. But as stated, user's Feedback will not receive a reply; and, unless I haven't been looking hard enough, I've yet to see a single reply here to anyone's legitimate gripe from any Apple/Logic tech.
So with this post I'd like to invite ANYONE from Apple/Logic to make their human presence known, and address the multitude of concerns posted here.
To reiterate: we love Logic. We just want it to work correctly, as it has in the past, and as it should it the future.

Yes, let me add a more general appeal to Apple on this thread:
We all know Apple "develops in secret", and does not announce these developments until they're ready to ship.
I'm sure a lot of Apple fanboys hate this fact, and that's why all these stupid rumor sites are so popular.
But when it comes to products that ARE ALREADY OUT, there is no need to maintain this secrecy.
Fine: if you want to keep secret about NEW features you're adding to the next version of an existing product, that's your perogative, and it's consistent with your general policy.
What should NOT be secret is whether you're AWARE of issues with your existing software, and a general timeframe on when you plan to fix them.
By disclosing this, you are not compromising the mystique associated with Apple in any way, and you are maintaining the secrecy policy in all the ways that matter. More importantly, you are promoting good will amongst your customers because it shows that you are listening to them, and you are supporting your product.
Logic is not a toy...it is the industrial-grade sequencer with which a lot of us make our LIVING. We need to feel (and be) secure in our purchase. This is not a "rumors" thing...I don't care what new features are coming in Logic 8 right now, I want to know what you're doing about usability issues in the CURRENT version.
Perhaps it's best if we think of this way: If I was a construction contractor, and I had been using Brand A Power Drill for most of my life...my most essential and often-used tool...then I'd been told by many peers in the industry and convinced by marketing collateral to switch to Brand B drill. It's a considerable investment, but I tried it at the store and it seemed to do everything I wanted and really WAS better in a lot of ways. So I bought this expensive drill, got it on the job site...but found out that although it HAS a hammer-mode button, hammer-mode doesn't work. At all.
So I go back to the store to exchange it, but find out they ALL have this problem. So naturally I want to return it, but the clerk tells me there are no returns on this kind of product, because it is a drill.
So I want to contact the manufacturer to ask what's going on, and when will there be a replacement or a fix for this drill. And then I'm told, "Brand B Drills does not discuss or disclose any information about any of our products. We work in secret and reveal what we're working on when it's ready."
You get the picture. The whole situation is ludicrous when talking about most other kinds of products, and just doesn't happen.
So I think all I'm (we're) asking for is just some basic feedback on critical issues which affect our confidence in the Apple products we use to make our livings. Thank you for reading.

    As crazy as it sounds, our Internet Service Provider has now limited our home data usage but my iPhone data is unlimited. We have an Apple TV that we usually stream video through (Netflix, movies, etc.) but that uses our home wifi data. Is there a way to connect my iPhone to our Apple TV and make it use my phone's data instead of the wifi data? I really don't want to create a separate network for both of them since it won't be connected to the Internet for other things and when I'm not there.     Firstly, have you emailed Apple iTunes support indicating your issue? There have been instances in which Apple will allow re-downloading of all content you've purchased on the iTunes store.
    Secondly, I highly recommend you get an external usb hard drive, attach it to your mini and use it as a Time Machine drive to keep your iTunes purchases safe. It's a fact of life that all hard disk drives will eventually fail. The Apple TV should never be used as any kind of permanent storage space; think of it as a 'temporary holding' zone. And as you've unfortunately already experienced, a glitch wiped out all content on the Apple TV.
    As regards your original question, it seems like there have been folks who've done just that...taken the internal drive in the Apple TV out and attached it to a mac and copied files from the Apple TV hard drive. I have not had to do such, so I cannot offer any help here except for Linda's suggestion on googling the net for solutions.

    I guess the bigger question is: What's the difference between using the *h.264 for apple devices* file format and *Quicktime movie* with compression set to h.264?
    Is there an actual difference in the algorithm? The documentation I've read claims that *h.264 for apple devices* is "low-complexity". Is this actually true? Is there any QT h.264 setting I can change to make it low-complexity?
    Here's why: I'm trying to make an iPhone/iPod compliant video podcast and using compressor. I'd like the audio to match the original 48kHz audio coming from my movie. If I go the *h.264 for apple* route, the only audio option I have is bit rate.

    ...claims that iPhone/iPod supports audio up to 48kHz and up to 160kbps, but I can't figure out how to create that with Compressor!
    Also, the *h.264 for apple* file format setting supposedly compresses the audio in the proper AAC-LC format. If I use *Quicktime movie* the only audio compression options that are close are AAC and AAC-LD.

    I selected MPEG-4 AAC in the audio options. As I say, this was accepted by iTunes and synced to the device.

    There are a lot of MacBook Pros with the model # A1286 - which year is your model (e.g., "15-inch Late 2011")?
    The only place that I know that you might could score a specific logic board is www.ifixit.com. They may be able to ship to your hotel.

    I moved from Japan to Australia. I need to change from Japan App Store to the Australian App Store. I get the following message every time I try using My MacID which was set up in Japan: "This Apple ID is only valid for purchases in the Japanese iTunes Store. You will be switched to that Store." At one point... by which path I do not remember... I was instructed to created a new ID. I fill out the new ID forms, but the address is rejected each time... quite confusing. Does it want a new name? But it says I cannot use an apple domain (tag?) even though I guess it has to be an apple address... ? So I have iTunes crdit cards purchansed in Australia, can't spend in AUstralian iTunes Store, get directed back to Japan each time, and can't open a new ID... What am I doing wrong?     You must have a separate Apple ID registered in the other store along with a valid bank-issued charge card in the other country, and a legal billing address in the other country.
    Sorry... But... You cannot use other countries itunes stores.
    You must be within the Country with a Valid Billing Address and Credit Card for that Country to use the iTunes Store of that Country..

    Hi! So originally my Billing Info was set in the US and today I wanted to upgrade my MBP to OS ML. I'm in the PH now so I changed my Billing Info and set it to my address here in the Philippines, but everytime I hit that "Buy App" button in the App Store and log in, I'm always taken to my Billing Info and even though I already changed my account info, the address that's displayed there is still the US one. I tried to change the country numerous times and set it to PH, but I always get the message saying my Apple ID is only valid for purchase in the US. I'm taken to the US store afterwards, and after I hit "Buy App" the same thing happens over and over again.
    I've been trying to figure this out for over an hour now. What else can I do?

    I sort of understand what's going on, but not sure why you weren't able to rectify the problem. Maybe the support folks can help.

    unfortunately on the internet people tend to give you these rude or patronising answers if they don't like your question, you just have to sort of ignore them
    to answer your question in a more friendly way my guess is they are probably not interested in giving discounts at the moment because they are still instantly selling out their stocks for full price.
    what i mean is from a business point of view they probably don't want to deny the full price payers an ipad and sell it for discount instead. maybe in a few weeks when the supply catches up they will include it in the program

    How big do you believe an ATV is?  They are tiny compared to most devices.
    The ATV is the only AirPlay receiver, short of an actual AV receiver with AirPlay support, but those are MUCH larger.

    As I have posted before, You, and others having issues with Verizon would be much better off if you complained to the FCC and FTC as well as your Senators and Congressmen.  We, as individuals, have such small voices - use them where they might do the most good.
    Also, don't assume that Verizon doesn't monitor these postings, they actively do & sometimes contact those that post complaints.

    Try #5.
    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

    Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
