For best performance what's the size of an image to be stored in database?

Hi all,
can any one tell me..for best performance what's the size of an image to be stored in database?
is it <256kb  or >256mb?
when i google  we can store image as varbinary(max) and its limit upto 2GB..
Can anyone exlain it?
is it performance wise better..
thanx in advance..
lucky

Your question does not seem apparently meaningful. If you need to store a 5MB image in the database, you store a 5MB image, not a 200 KB image or a 200 MB image. Business needs always trumph performance.
Not surprisingly, the larger the image the more resources it takes to read and write it.
What is a meaningful question is whether you should use the FILESTREAM feature or not. The cut-off limit here is usually given as 1MB. That is, if your images typically exceeds 1MB you should use FILESTREAM and access the data through Win32
API. If your images are generally below this size, you should stick to regular T-SQL.

  • What are the best ways (for best performance) in MII to process the incoming process messages from shop floor systems to SAP ECC 6.0 and vice versa?

    Hi All,
Can you please suggest to choose the best ways (for best performance) in MII (12.2 on NW 7.3), to process the incoming process messages from shop floor systems to SAP ECC 6.0 and vice versa?
    Thanks

    Hi Surya,
Best practices for flow of data from ECC --> SAP MII --> Shop floor & Vice verse:
    1. Send ECC data through IDOC's/RFC's as messages to SAP MII message listener and BSL transaction process data and update directly on shop floor database as if you configured in Data services or later send those data by web service to shop floor system (i.e. depends on Shop floor machines).
    From Shop floor:
shop floor --> SAP MII --> ECC
    1. Use either Web service or fetch data from DB and pass data to BAPI's  for sending to ECC through BLS transaction.

  • Looking for new laptop what are the differences between pro and air? Besides size. Does the air preform like the pro?

Looking for new laptop what are the differences between pro and air? Besides size. Does the air preform like the pro?

The NEW macbook Pro and Air are EXTREMELY close in form factor
The newest macbook Pro is essentially a larger macbook Air with Retina display and options for speed in increasing prices up to an independent graphics and quad core processor.
both Air and new Pro now have PCIe SSD and permanent RAM.
The Air is the lightweight portable form factor, fast to boot and shut down, but with longer battery life than any of the macbook pro in 13"
Now the new macbook Pro and macbook Air are extremely close in form factor and nature.
    both have 802ac wifi
both have permanent RAM, no superdrive
both are slim profiles and SSD
The only real differences now are (in the most expensive Pros) faster processors and quadcore processors and top end model autonomous graphics.
....and of course the retina display
both are now "very good for travel"
Other than features the form factor of the Air and Pro are VERY close now,....so now its merely a matter of features and price more than anything.
You need an external HD regardless of what you get for backups etc.   Drop into an Apple store and handle both and make your choice based on features, such as Retina or non-retina, .... both at a distance now look like the same computer.
The Pro weighs more, ....but nowhere near what it used to just a month ago on the older macbook Pros
The NEW macbook Pro is a different creature entirely than the older macbook Pro, .....the new Pro is thicker than the Air, but id frankly call the NEWEST Pro a "macbook Air with Retina display" , or
Maybe a “macbook Air PRO with Retina display”
Instead of Air VS Pro now,.....its really a smooth transition from Air to pro without comparing say, 2 different creatures, now its like contrasting a horse from a race horse.
Either one in 8gig of RAM (preferably)... the 4gig upgrade costs very little,  the I7 you will notice only 15% faster on heavy applications over the I5, and NOTHING on most APPS.....I5 has longer battery life.
As you see below, the non-Retina 13" AIR is 82% of the Macbook with Retina display in resolution
there is no magical number of pixels per inch that automatically equates to Retina quality.

A huge internal SSD isnt a game changer for anything, you need an external HD anyway
what you WONT READ on Apple.com etc. is that the larger SSD  are MUCH FASTER due to SSD density

Using Microsoft Exchange to access Gmail (Google Apps for Business) contacts, what is the best way to sync the Corporate Directory? For instance, we have 40 staff members and wish to populate each phone with the Gmail profile. Right now we have a third party Android app that does this and copies my contacts to each phone. This is problematic. Any solutions to populate a phone with email and phone contacts? Even it it requires double entry for me...thats ok.

Oh, I meant Leopard does do more than Tiger Server.
I don't know enough about Server, even less abut Syncing.
SL is to new, not enough time to iron out the kinks yet imho.
One day SL will be better than Leo, but...

Keynote...it could make a book, but it's probably questionable whether you'd want to manage hundreds of pictures and lots of pages with it.
    Why is that questionable?
Because Keynote does not have the industrial-strength tools to handle long form text and large numbers of graphics. When you make a long or complex document, you sometimes have to go in and fix problems in bulk, like text formatting, or updating graphics, or finessing the layout on 200 pages, things like that. A program like InDesign can deal with it through things like paragraph styles, character styles, table styles (not one-off styles, but the kind that let you update a style name and have all text that uses that style update across all pages), or a powerful link manager that lets you keep graphics outside the document so you can easily update them by reference, in bulk if needed. InDesign also has some great tools like the ability to import multiple photos at once and have them place on the layout as a nice yearbook-style grid, the instant they land on the page, without having to arrange them after they come in.
Finally, an app like InDesign knows how to print to a commercial press, or how to produce a press-ready PDF. Keynote has no idea.
A yearbook can run a couple hundred pages and involve hundreds of photos. I would not touch such a project with anything that wasn't truly up to the task. The best software would be InDesign or QuarkXPress. Word is not good enough. Pages is not good enough. You will tear your hair out as you fix problems on page after page, photo after photo. Keynote would probably be laughable for a yearbook. I use Keynote for presentations, Keynote is the best at what it does. A yearbook is nothing like a presentation.

  • What's the size limit for Bytes?

I insert a 90K image into a LONG RAW column with Bytes and found only about 25K was there and the other 65K is lost. Also I got no error in this process. Is there any limit of the size of Bytes?

    Hi,
You can activate the SIZECHECK compiler option for interactive compilations only. Once enabled, the compiler option remains active until disabled. This option is automatically disabled for batch compilations.
Enable the SIZECHECK option prior to compiling a program unit to raise an alert if the size of a program unit source is approaching an operating system limit for memory allocation. If the size of the source is close to an operating system limit, the compiled state of that source will probably be larger and may exceed the operating system limit.
The SIZECHECK option also raises an alert if the compiled state of the program unit is approaching or exceeds an operating system specific limit for memory allocation.
If the source of the program unit, or the compiled program unit exceeds an operating system-specific memory allocation limit, you may wish to break the program unit into smaller program units.
Check your operating system documentation for the memory allocation limit on your platform.
You can temporarily remove a compiler option using the DISABLE command.
    enjoy

  • Optimizing system for best performance/stability and a custom kernel

I have ArchLinux running on a MacBook 4.1 (early 2008), and it's running very well so far. But I would like to optimize it for best performance and stability (but not at the cost of losing 'graphical interface' quality). I want to compile a custom kernel, and I actually did once, but didn't do it well (and removed it), so I need some help from experts to tell me what should I disable or enable when compiling a custom kernel.
I will post dmesg and lspci (and rc.conf) here, but if you need any other information, please tell me.
    Thanks.

This might not help you a lot, but if you want a stable system, try using packages from the repo wherever possible, look at the news before you update your system and don't mess things up (like bad configuration etc.).
When it comes to performance, you won't gain much by compiling linux by yourself! Just use the linux package from [core] or if you want a bit more performance, install the ck-kernel from
    [repo-ck]
    Server = http://repo-ck.com/$arch
(this has to go to the bottom of /etc/pacman.conf)
(use that one which is best for your cpu (in your case this might be the package linux-ck-corex).
Hmmm, Linux-ck-corex doesn't even load.. I am now trying to install the generic one. Hope it works.
Edit: I will first try linux-lqx...

  • What is the size of the local DB in general?

    Hi All,
What is the size of the local DB in general (for a user developer/mobile client)

    Hello
In version 8.1 , you are usually above 1GB, but all depends on the amount of data routed per your responsability/position.
The difference between a developper local db and a user local db comes from the repository tables downloaded in the developper local database.

How do I access websites that warn: "Firefox is NOT compatible with this application. For best performance, please use Internet Explorer 5.0 and above...."? When I try to download any alternate browser, all I get is another warning that the alternate is "not compatible with your operating system." Is Firefox preventing this? The site listed below is a job application site. I've had this same problem with other job application sites also.

There should be a User Agent Switcher menu item under Tools, which gives you the browser names you can impersonate.
The menu item name changes to the browser UA you are presently using.
There is also a User Agent Switcher button, you can add it using View -> Toolbars -> Customize, and dragging the button to your toolbar.
    See http://chrispederick.com/work/user-agent-switcher/features/ and http://chrispederick.com/work/user-agent-switcher/help/
You can just start trying IE versions (or the versions it says on the site) until it lets you in.
