I need a Flash expert to help me urgently!

This is a long shot and forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong forum-
I am a web designer and I have a client who has asked me to do a project for him very quickly in Flash. He's given me a template and, whilst Flash isn't my strong point, I've been fine customing it for him as he wanted it.
But now I'm totally stuck because he wants me to work with the action script and I've come completely unstuck. If I was working in Dreamweaver I'd be fine, and I have a feeling the problem would be a piece of cake to a Flash expert.
Is there anyone who could spare me 10 mins of their time? I could zip up the template and let them have a look at it?
If this is the wrong place then can someone suggest somewhere I else I could go?

How to create an Add-In for Flash

Hi all,
I would like to create an Add-In tool for Flash IDE. I know
there are others add-in all around (i.e. FlashCast), and I want to
build mine. But I don't know where to start from: how to interact
with Flash? what functions can i use? I think there should be some

How do I publish for flash player 9? using macromedia mx

you simply cant until flash 9 (authoring tool) comes out. MX
2004 was developed in 2004 - we are
almost in 2007 and flash 9 player has been released - but for
now it is to penetrate the market and
insure backward compatability - none of us can author any
flash 9 content until the flash 9 tool is
released - what are you wanting to do in flash 9 that cant be
done in flash 8? nobody is developing
for flash 9 right now because it doesnt exist as a tool yet.

Flash FP6_PPC_CDK for Flash 7 PPC

Hi all,
I'm sure I'm not the first one to notice this, but when I
create an application with Flash Player 6 Pocket PC Components, but
publish it as Flash 7 for Flash Player 7 Pocket PC, some functions
don't work:
- combobox.setEnabled(false) doesn't disable the combobox
- the "Change Handler" has no effect.
But as soon as I publish it for Flash Player 6, components
work fine.
Does anyone know what the reason is? And even better, a
solution? I'm missing the "Change Handler" function.
I prefer to export to Flash 7, as XML-operations seem to work
faster than Flash 6.

My impression is it is inadvisable to use the desktop
components.
The best answer, though, is for you to test on real target
machines and make
your own judgment call.
The few times I have needed a component-like object, I've
built my own
custom, less sophisticated, less feature-rich but much more
responsive
objects. They may be nowhere near as good as the components,
at least on
paper, but the user experience is better. I'd recommend you
do the same
wherever you can for mobile development.

Way to Upgrade Memory for Flash Plugin (v11) for Firefox (v10)?

Hello!
I've been searching far and wide for an answer to this to no avail, so I'm hoping someone here can help me. As a part of my position at work, I am trying to work with a web-based Flash application connected to a Java back-end server. The data being rendered on the Flash side is very large and expansive, with many containers/layers involved. Since the processing seems to stall, then eventually crash the Flash Plugin in Firefox, is there any way to bump up the memory assigned to the Flash Plugin from within Firefox? I did see that the memory allocation is controlled by the browser, not the Flash Plugin, but I have been unable to find any place that describes how to accomplish this memory adjustment within firefox for flash plugin at all.

Will there ever be patches for Flash 8?

I just wondered if Adobe intends to issue patches for Flash 8
instead of just Flashplayer. I reported bugs over a year ago that
were taken up as existing and have not heard a word since. Does
anyone know what is happening?

thanks for the reply. Yes - truly irritating!
Although some can't be classified as true "bugs" but are
clearly usability issues.
I can add to that list with a few of my own - i will pick
one:
Properties Panel, the field that displays the frame number of
a nested animation in a Graphic
symbol. It is only wide enough to show 2 digits, so any
nested animations 100 frames or longer will
not show the entire number of frames - very annoying when you
spend a lot of time typing in frame
numbers to control graphic symbols and nested animations.
I have included the items from your list that are not already
on mine and will do what i can to see
that the next version of flash solves some of these issues.
And yes - not having the ability to export movie clips and
effects to video format is the biggest
bummer for flash 8 - i knew it during the BETA and know it
all too well now. But I haven't regarded
it as a total loss - i choose to find work-arounds and
thankfully www.flashants.com has a tool
called SWF2Video - it has saved me on many flash to video
projects that included graphics that had
to have bitmap filtered effects.
anyway - i appreciate your reply and if you have anymore
gripes - send em my way please.

Communication Components for Flash 8

Hi Guys,

components in, I tried downloading the components for mx2004 which
was released in 2003 but it tells me that I do not have Flash

Databasing for flash

Integrating databases and external information with Flash is
a brand new avenue I need to explore, and I need to make sure I
choose the correct method - ASP, Coldfusion, Flex, XML etc - do
these all do the same thing? Which one is going to make most sense
to a designer with a designer brain. And most importantly - looking
to Flash CS3; which option will future proof me for the big change

I really like using PHP with ActionScript as they are very
close syntax
wise. Using AMFPHP, which is a remoting gateway for Flash,
will allow you to
easily call functions server-side and directly grab
recordsets from a

I need help to install Toolkit CreateJS for Flash CS6.

I need help in installing CreateJS for Flash CS6. I had downloaded the Toolkit CreateJS from here: http://www.adobe.com/go/downloadcreatejs and here: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/createjs/articles/using-flash-pro-toolkit- createjs.html. When I attempted to install the extension using Adobe Extension Manager, the installation files did not have the required .zxp or .mxp files. It only had a file with a .mxi extension. Please advise. Thanks.

Why installing IIS o_O?
For Installing a developer Machine just install Oracle Developer suite; for testing your forms you use OC4J ("start OC4J instance" in start menu), and you can run your forms in web; no need for a aditional webserver (don't believe there's an OC4J connector for IIS available; and if so I wouldn't use it either ;-))
For Installing a server for "productional" use install Oracle Application Server (available on otn) which comes with an Apache as webserver and all the other needful things for runnung forms on the web.
For configuring both of them just take a look at the documentations on http://otn.oracle.com

When I setup my new MacBook Pro, something slipped by me and my computer was named First-Lasts-MacBook-Pro (using my real first and last name).
I changed the computer name in Preferences/Sharing to a new name and Preferences/Accounts to just be Mike. I can right click on my account name, choose advanced, and see that everything looks right.
However, If I do a scan of my network with my iPhone using the free version of IP Scanner, it lists my computer as First-Lasts-MacBook-Pro! And it lists the user as First-Last.
So even though another Mac just sees my new computer name, and my home folder is Mike, somewhere in the system the original setup with my full name is still stored. And it's available on a network scan. So my full name might show up at a coffee shop.
Can I fully change the name without doing a complete re-install of Lion and all my apps?

One thought... you said the iPhone displayed your computer's old name? I think that you must have used the iPhone with this computer before you changed the name. So no one else's iPhone should display your full name unless that iPhone had previously connected to your Mac. For example, I did this exact same change, and I use the Keynote Remote app to connect with my MacBook Pro. It would no longer link with my MacBook Pro under the old name, and I found that I had to unlink and then create a new link under the new name. So the answer to your question is, there is nothing you need to do on the Mac, but rather the phone, and no other phone will display your full name.
