For Guitarists - How does Mainstage "Feel" in a live setting

This is an esoteric question I know, but can anyone comment on the "feel" or feedback that good tube amps give guitar players at certian (usually high) volumes from within Mainstage?
I'm wondering if the amp models within Mainstage provide guitar players with not only a great tone, but also a great feel that inspires you to play. I know with my Line 6 gear that feel just isn't there. I've read that very high-end units such as the Fractal Axe-FX provide a somewhat better feel.
Just wondering if any guitar players out there have experienced this with Mainstage.

I get the 'feel', but not using Logic's amp modellers. They are good, but I get a better sound using a judicious mix of EQ, Double Dragon with Space Designer+stereo delay with optional wa &/or phase/flange/chorus.
The whole question of feel is very subjective, so what works for one person will not necessarily work for another. One example. A colleague of mine had a play through some of Logic's guitar presets on my set up. Most of them had sounded quite naff to me when I tried them. He played them & went off on a wild demonstration of many different guitar styles from country rock, through jazz into wild heavy metal. It all sounded gorgeous; he didn't stop playing for over an hour as he tried patch after patch, genre after genre. He was definitely inspired by Logic's setups. I have tried many times since, but still they don't work for me.
The best thing to do is find someone with a copy of Logic & play on it for a few hours. Remember that the speakers that your sound is played through will also affect the sound.

How does one manage these new render setting for previews?

I placed 4 HD clips from a nested into a sequence 5800 x 768 to mimic 4 side by side monitors for a multi channel video. Each clip cut from the sequence are at 1280x720 all sitting side by side. However when I rendered the previews, they came look all squished. However when I exported the frame it looks fine in Photoshop. (I changed the uploaded image to what it looks like in Premiere in Photoshop to demonstrate the appearance in Premiere.)
I imagine that the distortion has to do with the sequence render setting which for some reason comes out to 1918 x 253...or the pixel aspect ratio? How does one manage these new render setting for previews so it looks normal in the monitor?


Either way, I thought that this format would be a great way to view on the monitor 4 channels at the same time. I may need to place them on a “normal” 1440 x 1080 sequence in a line, bringing them down to 25% scale to make it work in the end. I did just try that. I think it will work...but when I imported and nested the old file, the scratch disks changed from the original set up on a D drive back to the main hard drive so I had to change it agin. Otherwise it works fine...so I’ll go with this for now

How does one install non-English character sets for use with the "find" function in Acrabat Pro 11?

I have pdf files in European languages and want to be able to enter non-English characters in the "find" function. How does one install other character sets for use with Acrobat Pro XI?

Have you tried applying the update by going to Help>Updates within Photoshop Lightroom? The update should be using the same licensing? Did you perhaps customize the installation location? Finally which operating system are you using?

What is "Print to file" used for? How does one use it?

From a web page I navigate FILE-->PRINT then check 'print to file' box. Firefox saves the file to its folder in C:\Program Files..
When later, I want to retrieve the data and print it out it refuses to be opened by any known software, including Firefox!. Even Dell seems to have no documentation on what this feature is for, or how to use it. I thought this was a convenient tool for saving print jobs for later processing. Boy was I wrong! Who knows what's going down here?

Checking the "Print to file" was earlier one way, however maybe not the best one, to generate postscript code, if you had defined a postscript printer. This printer could be completely virtual and not necessarily exist in the real world. Many of the Hewlett-Packard printers were usable. This was in a time when just a few programs could generate pdf code, but you had the Ghostscript program and its ps2pdf tool to do the conversion. As postscript is a text format, you could also edit the file, if so wanted, before the converson.

I configured HR trigger rule for infotype 0000 & subtype Z1,field MASSN with value equal to 01 to trigger new hire...i don't see any data being populated into table /VIRSA/INT_TRIG & ?VIRSA/DATA.
I could see the rule in table /VIRSA/RULEATTR.
Any help would be appreciated.

From Photos for Mac, how does one delete imported iphone photo?

IPhoto had this feature where when after it has imported all of my iPhone photos, it would ask me if I want to delete the imported photos from my iPhone. Also, it has a button to delete all photos from my iPhone if I choose to. Does anyone know if this very nice feature is still available in the new Photos for Mac?
I really like this feature to clear all of my photos with one click, instead of having go thru one by one.

How did you purchase Aperture? I don;t believe there was ever a 'Family Pack' for Aperture (or any of the Pro Apps for that matter).

First of all, is the music only disappearing from your iPod, or from your iTunes Library as well?
From your other thread, I gather you swap between Manually Managing and Syncing. This is a bad idea, it will lead to confusion on your part about what should be on the iPod. You'll make a choice that iTunes later overrides - because you've told it to. Choose one method or the other, not both.
Peresonally, I recommend using the iTunes Sync process. Using Sync will not prevent you from deciding what's on your iPod. You will still have a free and full choice in that. The Sync process will however, make it far easier for you to put everything back onto your iPod in the event that you need to Restore your iPod, or when you replace this iPod with a newer one.
Back to your issue though. Is the music, missing from your iPod, still in your Library?

Hi, with mix16 pro app, can anyone tell me when you set different audio levels for different tracks, does the app remember the level set the next time you use it? Or does it default to the original setting when you power down after a show? Thanks!

I am looking for an app that where I can control the levels better. Ideally, an app where I can set the level of each track to a desired level and leave it at that level for good. Mix16 Pro seems to do that but I wonder does it save the setting as I do not want to set the levels every time I use it.

How does one strip out all Live Cycle data from a PDF and rebuild the form fields in Acrobat?

Someone in a different department built a bunch of forms in Live Cycle. We now need to make minor edits to these forms but we all have Macs and can't use Live Cycle. Currently our only option to change a date and a name on each form is to buy a new Windows workstation, buy a copy of Live Cycle and train someone for it.
I understand the Live Cycle technology and Acrobat technology for forms are somehow different but there must be a way to just strip out all the Live Cycle form programming so that I just have the bare PDF with the text and layout. Then make the text edits and rebuild the form fields in Acrobat.

It depends on your PDF. Is the PDF a static XFA or a dynamic XFA?
You can check to see if the PDF is static/dynamic by clicking File=>Save As, and it should say static or dynamic PDF as file type.
iText will work with Static XFA forms created in LiveCycle. Dynamic XFA forms are not supported.
You can also submit XML data to a server side script and parse the XML data using C# system.xml.xmlreader.

How does family users (with multiple devices) set-up email in iCloud?

Husband and wife, two iPhones, an iMac, and a Macbook pro. How do you set-up email in iCloud? We want two @icloud.com addresses and would prefer two separate calenders. We could share an address book.

It is always good practice to have separate logins if more than one person is using a computer. This allows to have separate e-mail accounts, calendars etc. and share only required information.
iCloud services are part of OS X Mountain Lion, therefore you would loose comfort as well as part of functionality if you need to switch/reconfigure iCloud accounts every time you need to access your personal information.
