For info regarding refused connections on iChat

This is for info as my problem was solved last night. After a whole week of frustration I finally managed to see and talk to my parents who live in France. We bought the New iMac at the same time and I set theirs up on my last trip to France a couple of weeks ago. I tested iChat AV from there with a friend in the US and everything was fine. I came back 10 days ago and I set up my iMac with DSL/Earthlink using a Zyxel modem (directly, no router). Surfing the web and e-mailing worked within minutes, so I was confident that I would be able to establish a video conf with my parents. Wrong! While I was the one initiating the connection, I had the message that it didn't work because I had refused the connection. It took me a week and trying other Internet connections either at work or at friends who have other providers (by the way, it worked everywhere else) to figure out that in order for iChat to work, the modem had to be configured as a "bridge" and the Network Prefs have to be set on PPPoE. I hope this helps. It worked for me.

Thanks a lot for all your suggestions. Indeed, opening the other port went fine. But I don't have that modem anymore. I decided to go with Cable instead of DSL. My parents in France have a DSL connection 8M down /1M up and my 3M down/384 k up couldn't keep up (they could see me fine, I checked my upload and it was steady at 300kbps), but my download was all over the map and I was getting "people smear" all over my iChat window. Now that I have 8M down and 768 k up, it is so nice. I believe iChat detected that we both have at least 500 kbps and that bumped up the resolution too. Very nice!

  • Request for Info regarding MAM 2.5

    Hi,
I would like to know the following details regarding MAM2.5
Our client wants to use MAM 2.5 for his mobile configuration. His version of R3 is 4.6B.
    1. Does he have to buy MAM2.5 components or can we use it with out any fee. Is MAM mobile component license based on per device.
    2. Can we custom tailor the MAM 2.5 hand held application. MAM supports RFID. Can we modify it so that it works with bar codes instead
    3. In the functional doc of MAM 2.5,it is mentioned that MAM needs to be configured at R3,Web AS and mobile device. Does he have to buy separate licenses for it. Where is the MAM component fro SAP Web AS available. The Web AS version is 6.4 SP14.

  • Request for info regarding MAC address population in computer objects

    Hi,
I am trying to determine how MAC address information is populated in computer objects. I had assumed initially that the hardware scan would be used, but observation shows this information
to be obtained prior to any hardware inventory.
I have laptops that are primarily connected via VPN, and before long their objects lose the internal network interface's MAC address. When I try to rebuild them, they fail to PXE boot. I have
found that importing a CSV of host / MAC / SMBIOD GUID will update the object (rather than having to delete and recreate it) which works temporarily. The MAC will eventually disappear, and the device fail to PXE boot.
I have thousands of these devices to manage, and it is already difficult enough having a CAS and two primaries (the windows Deployment Service on a DP only cares about devices in the DPs primary
site, and so devices that move site are a real pain already, try finding that anywhere in the OSD reference documents!)
I'm assuming now that this information is pulled from the actual client-server connection, and therefore is dynamic(ish), like IP information. If this is the case, more detail around that process,
where to find evidence of  that process occurring would be very useful.

The MAC is updated by hardware inventory and heartbeat discovery.

I have been using firefox for a long time, today when i tried to launch firefox i recieved "Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections." i dont know how to fix this. I didnt change any settings, im the only person who uses this computer

You can find the connection settings in Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection<br />
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select "No Proxy"
    See "Firefox connection settings":
    * [[Firefox cannot load websites but other programs can]]

  • After auto update from 3.6.3 to 3.6.13, "proxy server refuses connection". I have to uninstall 3.6.13 and install 3.6.3 in order for it to work again.

I have been very satisfied with Mozilla Firefox until recently. I have Firefox 3.6.3. Every time a box appears with "installing updates" it installs updates then the screen goes to "problem loading page" and "the proxy server is refusing connections". The only way I can get internet access is to go to "control panel" then "add or remove programs" then I have to "uninstall mozilla firefox 3.6.13. Then I click on my "Firefox Setup 3.6.3, and I install that version. Once I do that, everything works fine again. It is such a headache because I can't prevent the "installing updates" from happening and once it happens, it does not work, as described above.
    Any thoughts???????

    I have this problem also.
Can't bring up the Hotmail screen.
I am looking for a simple way to
    get rid of 3.6.13.
I tried restoring to a point
before the Dec 10 upgrade but when system
    restored Firefox was still 3.6.13
I guess I will have to abandon MOZILLA FIREFOX
    and start using MICROSOFT IE

    Thanks, Joe,
I solved this by replacing the "localhost" (in the pool definition) with its eqivalent
"pisces" and it worked. I have used this before (I'm sure) and it has worked but
this time I am not sure why it requires me to have the explicit name and not localhost.
If anyone can enlighten me that would be good. However, it has been solved!
    Regards

    the machine
you're running weblogic on is named 'pisces', correct? It appears that
    the DBMS is

  • Javax.mail.MessagingException: Connection refused: connect on localhost

    Hello,
I am using Tomcat5.0.28 for a javamail servlet program. I am giving the hostname as localhost. After entering the input details in my html file, i get the error- "javax.mail.MessagingException: Connection refused: connect; nested exception is: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect " .
can anybody help me regarding in solving error.
    Thanks.

First, you're using a very old version of JavaMail.  Please upgrade.  Some of the properties you're setting aren't supported in that old version.
Second, you don't need the socket factory properties, get rid of them.
Finally, it looks like you're trying to connect on port 143 using SSL.  Port 143 is the non-SSL port.  That's probably not going to work.  Still, it looks like something is refusing to let you connect at all.  If you really can telnet from the same machine your program is running on to the same server machine on port 143, then you probably have some sort of firewall that's preventing your program from connecting.  Please post the entire debug output if it still fails after correcting the problems above.  (Move the setDebug call to before the getStore call.)

  • Agent Error? IOException in sending Request :: Connection refused: connect

For the past couple of days, I have been running into the "IOException in sending Request :: Connection refused: connect" error. I am running 10.2.01 on Windows 2003R2.
Along with this error, the DB Control shows agent unreachable.
Is there anything that anyone knows that may have caused this issue?
    Thank You in advance,
    Jeff

    Jhep,
Have you changed the timezone settings on the database server? Check emdctl.trc and see what it says. In the meanwhile, (a) stop dbconsole service, (b) execute emctl resetTZ agent and (c) restart dbconsole service.
Kindly should refer to the following Metalink Notes for a possible workaround:

  • Cannot connect to iChat with college proxy

    Hi,
In this Category are the OS X 10.6 Forums (Collaboration Services) option or the OX 10.5 (SNow Leopard) and iChat Server Forum.
I doubt there is a a fantastic difference between the two but pick the one your server "Fits".
There will be better help there as the regular posters here don't have OS X Server to find out the info you need.
