Your Mac is too old
To Airdrop between a Mac an iOS device
System Requirements
To see if your Mac works with AirDrop, make sure you’re in the Finder by clicking the desktop (the background area of your screen), or by clicking the Finder icon in the Dock. Then, check to see if AirDrop is listed as an option in the Go menu. If you don't see AirDrop listed, your Mac doesn't support this feature.
In order to transfer files between a Mac and and an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch
your iOS device needs to include a lightning connector
your iOS device needs iOS 7 or later installed
your Mac needs to be a 2012 or later model with OS X Yosemite installed
Your Mac and iOS device both need bluetooth and Wi-Fi turned on. You do not have to be connected to a specific Wi-Fi network.
To transfer files between two Mac computers, you need the Mac models listed below with Wi-Fi turned on and OS X Lion or later installed.

You should also ask this in the MacBook Pro forum. This is the forum for the white and black plastic MacBooks that were discontinued in 2010. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

  • Cirrus Driver for MacBook Pro Mid2010

SOS!! I need some help with my MacBook Pro mid 2010.
I have installed windows 7 with bootcamp in my MBP mid 2010 for several month and everything was working fine but after the last windows update, the sound does not work.
I have downloaded all drivers and althought I have re-installed again, the sound does not work. It seem that card-sound driver has not been updated yet. I have downloaded the last version from cirrus website but i have failed again.
    Somebody could help me, please?.

Can you uninstall the current drivers, delete the devices from Device Manager, reboot, re-install BC drivers and test?
Can you post a screen shot of your Sound Devices? Here is an example.

  • What external drives work well with a late 2011 MacBook Pro?  I ask because I just found out the hard way that a Samsung EVO 840 does not.  Also should I avail myself of something that works with Thunderbolt or Firewire?

What external drives work well with a late 2011 MacBook Pro (I7, Lion OS) apart from my Kingston flash and USB drive, and the SD drives that I use in my cameras and recording devices?  I ask because I just found out the hard way that a Samsung EVO 840 does not.  Also, should I avail myself of something that works with the Thunderbolt or Firewire connections?  I'm looking to back up music and video files created and/or processed in Logic Pro and the Adobe Production Premium software suite (Premier Pro, After Effects, Audition, etc).

Hmm, not sure what problems you had installing this drive. The review here gives it good marks for Mac:
    http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Electronics-EVO-Series-2-5-Inch-MZ-7TE1T0BW/produc t-reviews/B00E3W16OU
There does seem to be a lot of prep to make it work:
"1. Preparation to install your new shiny SSD
1.a You will need a migration tool (I used the Sabrent kit USB 3.0 to Sata that was suggested in these review) see link http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DQJME7Y/ref=oh_details_o03_s01_i01?ie=UTF8&p sc=1
1.b You will need to download a trim enabler (mid 2012 macbooks only support native trim with apple brand ssd's) I recommend going to cindori.org and downloading trim enabler version 3.xx. You can do this step before or after the OS migration
1.c You cannot use the Samsung SSD migration software *don't worry Mac has its own imaging/migration utility*"
    Also in those reviews:
" Only down side when using this product in a Mac Mini is you will be required to download and install Trim Enabler so that your drive performs optimally on your Mac device. This is an Apple issue, not Samsung, but it is an extra step you will have to take after you install the hard drive, and any time you perform an OS upgrade." He rant's on.
Personally I only deal with OWC:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/SSD/OWC/
They are very knowledgable and if there's a problem they will gladly take back the item. (Never happened to me yet - 8 years and counting).
Just upgraded my 13" MBP 2011 to 120 GB for $79. Adobe CS 6 opens in 3 seconds! Awesome!
When I was in Chicago I had a pro photographer for a client. She wound up with 4 internal drives in her Pro, 4 external drives and an dual array locked in a steel vault in the basement. All from OWC. OK she was a bit paranoid. Great client though.
As far as value for price:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/MES3FH7500G/
    500 GB for $130.
However as far as reliability is concerned:
    http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2014/01/30/are-ssds-reliable/
    http://www.extremetech.com/computing/173887-ssd-stress-testing-finds-intel-might -be-the-only-reliable-drive-manufacturer
So sudden power loss is an issue with SSDs.
Personally I'd go with a moderate sized SSD internally and a conventional external for backup. An array would be the most reliable.

  • Switching between horizontal and vertical constrain while cropping does not work?

    Hey all!
While editing photos, I sometimes need to crop a vertical photo into a horizontal layout and vice versa..
However neither the option key function nor the scrool down menu with portrait and landscape options works. I can choose the latter if I change the proportions of the constrained area - but how do I keep the photo to its original proportions and still choose to crop in the opposite layout?!?
The option key function is not working either.
Hope you are able to help!!!
    Many thanks,
    Sof.

After selecting the dimensions constraint go to the cropping constraints window a second time and select portrait or landscape (at the bottom of the window)

  • I bought the wrong version as I need it for macbook pro but somehow bought windows...help

I guess I will have to wait until normal office hours.  I have no idea why it bought the window version as I did not realize that is what was selected.  I hope I can get it exchanged for the photoshop elements 13 for macbook pro retina display.     Anyone know if this is an easy switch and one they will do?

When buying HD versions of shows, only the HD copy will automatically download now (probably due to requests from people who don't need/want the SD version and complained about it being forced on them). The SD copy can be downloaded from your purchases area in iTunes, though. On the main iTunes Store page, go to Purchases under the Quick Links and then select TV shows. Click the "Not On This Computer" button. Uncheck the "Download HD when available" box and you should then see the SD copies of the shows and be able to download them.
    Regards.

  • How to download wifi driver for macbook pro?

Hi, how to download wifi driver for macbook pro?

Apple hardware drivers are an integral part of OS X and cannot be removed through normal means.
Why do you believe it's necessary to download a driver?

  • HT201364 is there pages for macbook pro version 10.7.5 ?

is there pages for macbook pro version 10.7.5 ?

You need to either phone AppleCare and order replacement disks or buy a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD from the online Apple Store; the retail DVDs don't contain iLife. Once you've gotten a disk, insert it, restart the computer with the C key held down, use the Disk Utility to erase the internal drive, install a fresh OS, and include the disk with it.

  • MacBook Pro 15" & Lion 10.7.3 wifi dropout

    Hi
My MacBook Pro 15" bought in mid 2009. I experienced serious wifi dropout problem recently. Actually my wifi dropout happens almost every few minutes. What the change I made recently was upgrading operating system to Lion operating system and fibre - wifi. I am not sure whether it's hardware problem or operating system bugs. I have tried to tether my iPhone 4s wifi to MacBook Pro and it looks alright. Hence I assume it's not hardware/ network card problem.
I have tried various solutions found on Internets or Mac related websites but still unable to resolve this problem. I am not sure whether there is any application could diagnose this wifi dropout problem. What would be the adequate fibre wifi roundter setting for MacBook Pro?
Appreciate Apple or anyone would share your solution and experience.

Do not try to use it.  Make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar and have the technicians evaluate it for FREE.
    Ciao.

As you can only get OS X from Internet Recovery, you can't get the OS X Mountain Lion stored on the HDD and make a bootable volume with it. Also, you can't install the OS X version you have on your other Mac because the hardware of this MacBook Pro with Retina display isn't compatible with that OS X version.
In your case, reinstall OS X and see what happens. If you can't reinstall OS X, take the computer to an Apple Store because you can't do anything with that MacBook Pro now

  • Firmware for MacBook Pro 17 not available

I would like to install latest MacBook pro SMC firmware
to be able to control fan and get rid of that called
    "cow fan noise"
Unfortunately, that firmware update do not applied to
    MacBook Pro 17 "
Why MBP 17 " could not get those additional fan
    control features ?!

...because the SMC update is not required for the 17" or the new 15" MBPs - the update was already applied at the factory.

  • HT201364 why i don't install mac os x maverick for macbook pro retina later 2013?

why i don't install mac os x maverick for macbook pro retina later 2013?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The Late 2013 MacBook Pro already comes with OS X Mavericks. However, if you try to download OS X Mavericks from the Mac App Store, you will get a message telling you that your MacBook Pro is not compatible, when it is.
This is caused because the Late 2013 MacBook Pro is running a special OS X Mavericks version which is different than the version available in the Mac App Store. This makes that you get an error message when you try to download OS X Mavericks even when you are using it.
Instead of downloading OS X Mavericks from the Mac App Store, you can still download OS X Mavericks to reinstall OS X through OS X Recovery > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718 You will be able to download OS X Mavericks from the Mac App Store when your MacBook Pro uses the same version as all other Macs

That is determined by what type of disk that it is. It may be a disk that only allows you to install Windows on your Dell computer and would not allow Windows to be installed on a Boot Camp partitition or as a virtual machine in an app such as VirtualBox on your Mac. If that is the case, you would need to purchase a retail Windows install disk.
