FOR SIS FILES

am facing the problem regarding installation of .sis applications. My N73 accepts .jar applications but when I try to install .sis theme or any other .sis applications, the phone displays that the application is not supported. But Nokia Help says that my phone supports ".sis/.sisx/.jar" files. So what is the problem regarding .sis installation. Please help

Possible reason #1 (the most likely one): The N73 is based on S60 3rd Edition, and you tried to install an S60 2nd Edition or 1st Edition application (which are not compatible with S60 3rd Ed. devices).
Possible reason #2: The setting "menu | Tools | App.mgr | Options | Settings | Software installation" is not "All".

  • Unable to replace the default icon with the application icon for SIS files on packaging

    Hi,
    I got hold of the earlier (now removed from Adobe) available Adobe Mobile Packager (the free version). Now the problem is that I see the default packager icon on my phone for my Flash Lite application. Also, the packager does not allow me to select my application icon. I have placed the desired icon in the output folder along with its svg; doesn't help either.

    You mentioned that you implemented loopback merge mode.  It's possible some of the settings being included in the merge are interfering with your new file associations.  Have you checked to see if there are any conflicting file
    associations in other GPOs that may be applying?  If so, you may want to experiment with loopback
    replace mode.
    Also check to see if any file associations are being set in the computer configuration settings, since you are attempting to set associations in the user configuration.  In a merge scenario the computer policy is processed after the user policy, and
    has precedence if any of the settings conflict.

  • Maps 3.01 - SIS file for E75 is corrupted

    If you ever wondered why you can't install Maps for E75 using the file nokia_maps_3.01_09wk44_b01_s60_3.2_lm_rom.SIS, which is distributed at: Nokia Europe - Maps - Compatibility & download page, it's because the file is seriously corrupted.
    According to SymbianOSv9.x SIS File Format Specification, the first 4 bytes of a SIS file must always be 0x10201A7A. Surprisingly this particular file starts with 0x0055E805 and contains 161 bytes of random data in front of a  byte sequence that appears to be the correct identification header. Way to go Nokia! Who knows what else is broken in that file?
    So could you please find the person(s) who broke that file & put it online and hang them high? Preferrably from some sensitive body parts. Then fix the damn file, and fix the Maps Updater, too. Ok?
    Thank You.

  • How to create a SIS file for Nokia Communicator 9210?

    Hello,
    I have written a J2ME application, tested it (yes, it functions), and pressed on button "Package" in KToolbar. As result, I got a *.JAD and *.JAR file. When I copy these files to the Nokia Communicator 9210 Handy, nothing happens when opening the files with the "File Manager". The Java Runtime is installed on the handy.
    I think, the Java application must be converted to a SIS file, but how to do it?
    CU NOPPY

    I found out the solution. No SIS file is needed. It is enough to send the *.JAR file to the communicator. Although Nokia 9210 already contains a Micro Java Runtime, you must install midpui, otherwise you can not start Java applications without using WAP or the Internet.
    Download midpui: MIDP_beta_sw_for 9210.sis
    http://www.forum.nokia.com/javaforum/main/1,35452,1_0_30_10,00.html
    After I installed midpui, I can see a new icon unter "Extras" called "midpui". When clicking on it, I can install *.JAR files from any directory. Afterwards I can see the Java programs in the application list of midpui, so I can execute them successfully.

  • Nokia E75 does not support sis files

    I've been trying to upgrade the Ovi maps on my E75, because navigation has kept me saying that I need to renew the license. I went to Nokia web site and found out that I need to upgrade Ovi maps in order to get the free navigation. I have a 202.12.01 firmware and I installed it once again when I had unsuccessfully tried to upgrade Ovi maps. I have Ovi maps v3.01 09wk44b01 (MW OpenGL LM MN) and Map version 0.1.24.114 (OpenBitLM 6.22.5). I've deleted all old maps and started to download new ones successfully over Nokia Ovi Suite. I've downloaded Nokia Ovi Suite and followed the instructions for downloading and installing the newest version of Ovi maps application (I suppose it must be newer than the one I have on now, because navigation still wants me to buy license, I guess it must be 3.03 or higher). I've tried it several times from the scratch, just to make sure I did it right. Of course I've also chosen the right E75 phone from the drop down menu and I downloaded the file nokia_maps_3.01_09wk44_b01_s60_3.2_lm_rom.sis. I double-clicked it and everything seems to be right, but when action on the phone should be required the installation guide says "Nokia E75 does not support sis files". From the sis file name I can only now see that I have this version already installed.
    Does this mean I can not use navigation for free on E75?
    Can anybody help me ASAP, because I need the navigation evey day very badly?

    I'v followed the directions of chanchan05 "Just uninstall the maps app, delete the folder and file I mentioned, then reboot your phone. Open the maps app, and it should recreate the qf file and cities folder in a version compatible to 3.03." on /t5/Maps-Navigation-and-GPS/Wasn-t-it-supposed-to-be-quot-Navigation-on-your-Nokia-Free/m-p/668305#M...
    Afterwards I installed the sis file you pointed me to and it worked. The maps on the phone were deleted, so I downloaded new ones over Nokia Ovi Suite and tried the navigation. Unfortunately it stills demands buying the licence for the navigation.
    I guess this is because the recommended sis file is v3.01 and not v3.03? Is that right?
    Any other solution?

  • E71 sis files installation error msg "file corrupt...

    I have an e71 purchased 2 months ago which was working fine until i did tried to install nokia maps updater. After that whichever sis file i try to install i get an error 'file corrupted'. How to rectify

    But for doing a hard reset you should do this-
    Before perfoming this please take a backup of your data.
    Factory defaults-
    Type *#7780# on your standby screen.
    This will reset all your setting to default factory settings. User data wont be affected.
    Soft reset-
    Type *#7370#
    This will reset the phone as well delete user data. Use when want to format the phone.
    If none of these worked then you might want to do a hard reset.
    For this you have to-
    1. Switch off the phone.
    2. Hold down the following three buttons: Green (the call answer button), * button, and '3' button.( Just in case of N78 it will be the multimedia key the small silver key on right side & for Nokia 5800XM - use the following buttons to do a hard reset, GREEN/RED/CAMERA keys pressed all at once on power up. this will only work on 5800's that have firmware version 20... and up. For Nokia N97 is SHIFT /SPACE BAR / BACKSPACE. )
    3. While holding these buttons, hold the power button to switch on the phone.
    4. Release the buttons when the phone shows the nokia hands logo or shows other signs of life like the language selection screen.
    Please thank me by giving 'KUDOS' star. It will help me to serve you better.

  • Find and Save a SIS File

    I need to find a SIS file namely MapsBooster sif  for a widget i downloded from the Ovi Store .
    App shows as installed SIS in PC Suite but i am unable to find on phone  using x- browser and ybrowser .
    All i can find is MapsBooster .``dcf  file and any attempt to run/install this file tells me its locked .
    I am able to backup all my other installs bar this one .
    I have to contact OVI store everytime i want to reinstall after wiping the drive .
       jje

    Okay, just a word of warning before I continue: downloading the app from OVI is the preferred method. Onwards then:
    1. Turn off your phone
    2. Turn it on and close all applications
    3. Open a filemanager (any will do)
    4. Browse to E:\
    5. Open Ovi Store and select the application you want
    6. From now BE QUICK!!!
    7. Download the selected application
    8. Immediately after touching "Download" open the taskmanager (any will do) and switch to the filemanager
    9. Open the folder "Installs"
    10. Copy the file to somewhere else
    11. Done
    Normally the phone asks you if you want to install the application so you have enough time to copy that file but sometimes the application is installed without authorization. If this happens just deinstall and download it again.
    If you never find files in E:\Installs you should check your settings in Ovi Store. Open it and select "Options", scroll down to "Account" and select "Settings", then select "Installation Settings". Now you can see (and change) where the downloads are temporarily saved. Change the drive or use the shown one instead of E: mentioned in the guide above.
    There are some file extension used but all are work.. Ovi Store does nothing more than download the file to your device, start the installation and delete the downloaded file after installation is done, thus all files downloaded are useable.
    Usable file extensions: .sis, .sisx, .dm, .wgz (there might be more).
    Good luck.

    Hi qooty
    Go to Application Manager > Options > Settings and set "Online Certificate check" = OFF and Software Installation = ALL.
    Secondly try resetting date on phone to January 1 2007 first and if that doesn't work try December 31 2006 as Symbian certificate may have expired; reset date after installation.

  • SIS Files on S60 3rd edition?

    Hi,
    Has anyone managed to successfully install a Flash Lite
    application via SIS file on a series60 3rd edition device?
    My SIS file works fine on 2nd edition devices, but when i
    change the product UID range to 3rd ed. if just comes up straight
    away with the 'not supported' installation error.
    Is there a new version of makesis that i must use?
    Any ideas?
    Paul

    For anyone having the same problems as me...
    If you are trying to create a sis file for 3rd edition or
    UIQ3
    download the s60 3rd edition CDK from Forum Nokia (this will
    give you the newer version of makesis, and some other stuff i
    havent checked out yet,).
    Download the 'Symbian Developer Certificate Request' app from
    Symbian signed as well as
    some new UID's
    Change your PKG file to have the new OS UID's eg.
    s60 1st Edition (0x101F6F88), 0, 0, 0, {"Series60ProductID"}
    s60 1st Edition, FP1 (0x101F8202), 0, 0, 0,
    {"Series60ProductID"}
    s60 2nd Edition (0x101F7960), 0, 0, 0, {"Series60ProductID"}
    s60 2nd Edition, FP1 (0x101F9115), 0, 0, 0,
    {"Series60ProductID"}
    s60 2nd Edition, FP2 (0x10200BAB), 0, 0, 0,
    {"Series60ProductID"}
    s60 2nd Edition, FP3 (0x102032BD), 0, 0, 0,
    {"Series60ProductID"}
    The new ones:
    S60 3rd Edition [0x101F7961], 0, 0, 0, {"S60ProductID"}
    S60 3rd Edition, FP1 [0x102032BE], 0, 0, 0, {"S60ProductID"}
    UIQ v2.0 ( 0x101F617B ),2,0,0,{ " UIQ20ProductID " }
    UIQ v2.1 (0x101F61CE), 2, 1, 0, {"UIQ21ProductID"}
    UIQ v3 (0x101F6300),3,0,0,{"UIQ30ProductID"}
    Note: you cant mix the old and the new product id's in one
    pkg file as the sis files are created differently and are not
    compatable, you will need one for the older nokia devices, one for
    the new 3rd edition, and another if you develop UIQ (although there
    are none available with UIQ3 and Flash lite yet...it might be
    possible you'd have to have a separate one for that as well!).
    If only Symbian could have written a simple document with all
    that in it, it would have saved me and my collegue hours of trying
    to get past error messages!

  • N8 Bluetooth K/board which SIS file to download?

    Which SIS file on the CD should I install,

    Nokia S60 3.2 edition
    Nokia S60 3rd edition

    Would have to concur with kingblue to try simplest option first as this CVDH-A66 is almost universally compatible (Mac also) and incidentally Apple Bluetooth keyboard easily pairs with N8.
    If you do need to try enclosed driver on CD usually have to ignore such installation messages and continue, for example you get this a lot with applications designed to work with S60 5th Ed. touch screen devices which function with N8. I would start with S60 3rd. and if it doesn't work uninstall it and try another.

  • "0/1 applications installed" when dragging SIS fil...

    I am normally able to install applications on my N85 by connecting it via Bluetooth and then dragging the SIS/SISX file into PC Suite, on the phone's icon. This brings up a progress bar in PC Suite, as the file is being copied to the phone, then I continue the installation on the phone, and get the message "1/1 applications installed" in PC Suite when all is done.
    Today was different - I dragged a SIS file into PC Suite only to immediately see the message "0/1 applications installed". The same happened with *any* SIS/SISX file that I subsequently tried to install. This is strange because the Bluetooth connection between the N85 and the PC is otherwise fine (i.e. I can browse the phone with Windows Explorer, make backups, etc). Also, I can install the SIS file anyway if I copy it to the phone manually (via Windows Explorer) and then run it from File Manager.
    I tried restarting both PC Suite and the phone, as well as reinstalling support for PC Suite on the phone (from the Help menu). Nothing changed.
    What is going on? Thanks for any help!

    Hi,
    When i tried to drag a SISx application(Wellnessdiary3x.sisx) file thorough Drag n drop on Nokia N85 using PC Suite 7.1.30.9, it asked me if i want to download the application to the phone, which i installed it on phone memory without any problem, i checked this issue in XP-SP3, Nokia N85, V 20.170 Bluetooth connection.  No problem , i checked with one sis file(Flyingmoney) even it got transferred without any problem.  Nokia PC Suite says, 1/1 application installed

  • 3250 & N72 can't run SIS files?

    I have 6630, whenever I download a freeware sis application, it works directly.
    But with both, 3250 and N72, it can only accepts the two
    sis files located in Nokia/Games on Nokia website, but when
    it comes to the sis freeware, it says that this file is not acceptable or compatible..!!!
    While as, both 3250 and N72 can run the Jar files from everywhere.
    Can any body explains how we override this?

    Mahmoud:
    The Nokia 3250 and N72 are S60 3rd Edition devices which aren't Binary-compatiable with applications compiled for S60 1st Edition or 2nd Edition. Basically the programmers need to port their application to the 3rd Edition enviroment for use with these devices. A lot of them have already done so and more are in the process of doing so. Look out for versions for S60 3rd Edition on the developers websites.

    Don Davedgreat

    The 5320 is an S60 3rd edition device. Probably you were trying to install sis files meant for S60 2nd edition. As korngear pointed out, S60 3rd edition is not backward compatible with S60 2nd edition sis files, and hence installation is not possible.
