For syncing with IE, which is better, PlainOldFavorites or Xmarks?

I'm looking for a solution that will update my FF bookmarks with changes to my IE bookmarks, and vice versa. I rarely use IE, but some websites work with it and not FF. I don't want a solution that requires me to copy all my bookmarks to IE favorites, or vice versa. Seems like that way loses new bookmarks on either end, the one copied to. I just want a simple cross-platform sync.

PlainOld Favorites doesn't "synchronize", it uses IE Favorites from their default location in AppData and Firefox Bookmarks remain separate.

  • ITunes doesn't show some playlists for sync with iPhone ...

I've got a few smart playlists.
The annoying thing now is that some of them do not show up under "my iphone" / Music / Playlists.
So I can't sync them to my iPhone ;-(
I used to have this smart playlist in the iPhone section of iTunes - but I can't remember when it disappeared.
For instance, I've got a smart playlist that contains some of the latest episodes of some podcasts.
It is populated fine, but it does not show up in the playlists for sync with my iPhone.
Another smart playlist (which I call "random pop") contains some music from my music collection.
This one does show up in the iPhone section of iTunes ...
BTW, just in case you wonder why I have this smart playlist containing some episodes of the podcasts: first, there are some episodes that I don't care for on my iPhone; second, with this little trick I can jump by a simple double-click to the next episode, no matter which podcast it belongs to, while listening to my iPhone.
Any insights, tips, and suggestions will be highly appreciated!
    Best regards,
    Gabriel.

  • After updating to iCloud and setting up iCal sync the program deleted all my Outlook events and cleared them from my office's server. How do I now sync my still existing iCal events back to Outlook for syncing with my office.

How can I get my Outlook information that was moved to iCal back onto my Outlook calendar for syncing with my office's exchange service?

Problem solved I think. I exported my iCloud Calendar file in Outlook to Google Calendar which in turned re-populated my Outlook default calendar. This was picked up by the exchange and sent to all computers in the office.
I had hoped that iCloud, and its calendaring abilities, would remove my need for Google calendar to serve as an exchange between my iPad, iPhone and Outlook on PC (and with it connection to my staff). However, it seems that iCloud is simply not to that point yet. Hopefully Apple will begin to implement some of the processes Google Sync utilizies, specifically the ability for Sync to keep a PC running Outlook and an Android based phone in near-real-time sync. It seems that as of yet Apple has not considered the cross-platform issues of the iPhone being in wide-use in business/commercial settings with PCs running Outlook (and said PC being networked to staff, coworkers, etc...).

I'm unable to send and receive email through Apple Mail 4.  I've checked my settings on Preferences, and my password to Gmail is up to date for syncing with IMAP, but it still won't connect.  Suggestions?

I think it's trying to open it in a gMail eMail & is losing your gMail password that it needs log into gMail, but not 100% positive.
Have you tried Right clicking or Control+click on the eMail link & choose Copy? Works on some, not others.

  • ICal entries vanish after sync with GroupCal 2.5 Beta

I was wondering if anyone else may have this problem or maybe even a solution. I tried syncing iCal (2.0.2) with my work's exchange server (2003) using Groupcal 2.5 Beta. Everything went really well, all my iCal entries appeared in Exchange, however when the data was ready to go back into iCal an error popped up:
iCal was unable to load the calendar. The file might be corrupted or temporarily unreadable...
I've asked the software developers if there's anything I can do, but they've been giving me the silent treatment. I realise this is a beta and I may be stuck with this problem until version 3.0 comes out, but I'd like to see if anyone has had the Beta working and how they set it up...
    Cheers.

I'd like to second your request to Apple. iCal 2.0.3 is quite close already: it can receive and send meeting requests to Exchange clients. One crucial thing missing is support for the https protocol. That would allow us to subscribe to Exchange calendars via the https://your.company.com/exchange/user.name/calendar/ url (supposing the OWA calendar format is compatible with iCal, which is not very likely).

  • Best Apps for Sync with iPhone

I work in a small consulting firm and we share our calendar and contacts. I currently use Mail and the Now Up to Date and Contacts with my MacBook Pro and iPhone. One glaring issue is that the NUDC v.5 does not sync with iCal and therefore I don't have my calendar on my iPhone. I've considered updating to one of: NowX, Daylite, Entourage 2008 (Mac ed.), or other apps that handle this kind of shared data management that can be sync'd among devices and users. I understand I could just use iCal but it's been recommended that we don't use it for a shared calendar and, personally, I think it's not a very good calendar app. Any suggestions on which app may work best in this environment?
    Thanks.

You'll probably get a better response in one of the iPhone specific forums. iSync is for syncing to non-Apple phones, so visitors to this forum are less likely to have an iPhone and be able to offer advice on what apps sync with it.

  • None of my iPhoto Albums appear in iTunes for syncing with my iPhone

I have dozens of Albums in iPhoto. When I open iTunes to sync with my iPhone, NONE of my iPhoto albums (none of my Aperture albums, for that matter) are present. I cannot figure out why not, nor do I see any discussions of this problem. HELP!!!!

    moabCowboy,
Is there a particular reason you are using an alias to repoint the iPhoto Library, instead of telling iPhoto to look directly to the library on the other drive?
If not, you can tell iPhoto to look at the iPhoto Library on the other drive directly by holding down the option key when you launch iPhoto.
The iPhone does require iPhoto 4.0.3 to sync photos from iPhoto to the iPhone.
If still not showing up to sync photos over, this article has additional troubleshooting steps for when iPhoto apps don't show up in iLife applications:

It is not a problem of iPad2 because I have the same problem with my iPhone.
e.g.: I can see the event in iTunes but with 0 photos. So iTunes find the events but not the content???

I'm new to XML & this is my first post.
Background: I have a "few" relational tables which are designed to assist the form scraping and to store the values as Key-Value-Attribute from the UI capture. (the change to the design is not possible at this time). I've also built the "normalized" schema which will hold the normalized data from this form-scrapping schema.
In order to achive this: I plan on having (1) XML view which the UI will call and then it will be inserted/updated in the normalized schema (2) to be able to use the same XML by the BI publisher for reporting (3) end user query this form-scraping db to view as normalized data.
Following are my thoughts about the approach & please correct & guide if my understanding/approach is wrong.
After some good reading on this forum and other materials, I've come up with the below mentioned XML generation method. How can I convert this XML "record" such that it can satisfy the above stated.
    output:

What tools/techniques are available to generate the XSLT? (use XMLSpy etc?), how to create a such that it can be as simple as "select from v_xml_view;" and be able to replace * with column names?*
    ==============================
I've also tried the *SQL-XML extensions* but am stuck with the UNION PART (help is requested on how to union columns within the XMLAgg).
    {code}
    select

    (select xmlagg(xmlelement("Section",
xmlforest(rs.section_id as "SectionID", rs.section_name as "SectionName"),

    Thanks for the data.
I thought you would have included data from TBL_RESPONSE, as the interesting part is how to deal with this "special" design ;)
So, to run some tests, I've generated the following data for FORM_SECTION_ID 5350 and 5360 :
    insert into tbl_response (FORM_ID, FORM_SECTION_ID, COL_ATTR_ID1, COL_ATTR_VAL1, COL_ATTR_ID2, COL_ATTR_VAL2, COL_ATTR_ID3, COL_ATTR_VAL3, COL_ATTR_ID4, COL_ATTR_VAL4, COL_ATTR_ID5, COL_ATTR_VAL5, COL_ATTR_ID6, COL_ATTR_VAL6, COL_ATTR_ID7, COL_ATTR_VAL7, COL_ATTR_ID8, COL_ATTR_VAL8, COL_ATTR_ID9, COL_ATTR_VAL9, COL_ATTR_ID10, COL_ATTR_VAL10)
    values (2371420, 5350, 30000, '05/03/2011', 30001, 'John', '30002', 'J', 30003, 'Doe', 30004, '(555) 123-1234', 30005, '(555) 123-1235', 30006, '1234567', 30007, '[email protected]', 30008, '10 Maple Street', 30009, '.');

  • Best phone for syncing with Office for Mac 2008?

I'll be getting a new phone in a few months and I want to get one that syncs perfectly and effortlessly with Office for Mac 2008.
I currently use a Motorola Q and a Macbook Pro and have to go through isyncing Office with the Mac versions (iCal and Address Book) and then syncing using Missing Sync. It works, but it's slow and not very elegant.
    What's the smoothest solution?
    - Mike

Just be careful if you use categories in Entourage for your mail, calendar and contacts and determine whether those categories will move with your contacts and other data to the iPhone when it syncs. I doubt that it will if sync services works the same way between Entourage and iCal because it doesn't support the category capabilities in Entourage which is why people had turned to Missing Sync for the 2004 version of MS Office 2004

  • Ringtones Selected for Sync with iPhone does not showup in iPhone

In iTunes library under ringtones I can see few files and I can play them as well (They are of type m4r format). However when I chose to Sync All Ringtones (or even specifically this) iPhone does not show this in its Custom tone list.
This is happening for a specific ringtone. Other ringtones I am able to sync and see it in iPhone.
    Please help.

Plug the iPhone and go to files/Transfer purchases...
The apps should start transferring to your pc...
You'll see them in iTunes, in the applications list...
Click right in any of these apps and you'll find in which folder these files are located...
If its not transferring the apps, it means the appleid with which the apps have been bought is not authorized to be used on the iTunes and on this pc...
Go to AppStore, sign out from the appleid you're signed in to, and sign in to the appleid used to download the apps...
After you sign in, download any free app...
That should take care of authorizing your account on your pc and therefore allow transferring the apps to your pc...
