For the iPhone video experts...

I want to use my iPhone as a video camera or webcam for extended periods of time (i.e., 2, 3 or even 4 hours per instance), and to have an easy way to either download the files or record the webcam broadcast. I am on the edge of going 3g or 3gs but will this really be the kind of primary video device, with the benefit of being a really cool little phone, that I am seeking. Thanks for any thoughts or ideas???

May I suggest the double App approach? Sort of like with Mobiola Headset where you have to run an app on the target computer and the iPhone simultaneously; It transfers audio from your computer to your iPhone, and can even act as a headset. Great for everything but Movies and Video games.... (But one would now able to listen to their ENTIRE music library if they use the Remote App as well and switch between the two.)
None the less, my idea was that supposedly the iPhone takes pictures and compiles them into a video. (I could be totally wrong about this but if it's true the biggest problem would be "when") Even still I don't see how one couldn't just capture spitfire images to the ram, or using their own code, and throw it over the network to the PC side. There, it could compile the images and simulate a "Camera" feed using some generic "open feed" calls.
Hope this gives some ideas..

There are apps in the AppStore that do this for still pictures, but its a digital zoom meaning all it does it zoom/crop the image.
The only way to zoom the video is to move closer to the subject.
A proper zoom is a hardware feature, not software.

I'm due to make a comical presentation in 2 days, and i downloaded iMovie for the iphone 4, and would like to use the trailers created as part of the presentation.
I'm on windows xp, and have sent the file to itunes, gone into the file sharing part, added it, saved it, and even synched the flipping thing and yet it wont even play in itunes??? thats driving me mad as it is??
Not really bothered about that....My real main concern is wanting to play the movie file in an AVI/MOV/MP4 etc format, and have even downloaded various video conversion packages to try an convert and playback my results, but once again, and a few hours wasted, I find myself facing another brick wall.
Is it even possible to playback the imovie trailers created in a more generic video format for others to see??

Actually, scrap that one girls. Ive figured it out. For those who have a similar prob, just make sure you have quicktime installed. plug ur iphone into ur pc as normal, and choose the camera an scanner options that appears auto on ur window. select the trailer u wish after the usual wizard talk through and then "ok" or "apply" or whatever the button is called. select your destination folder, and walaa. its all done, and converted into .MOV format.
NOTE: When saving ur trailer on ur phone, and it asks what file size, chose the Medium one, or it takes ages to open.....unless ur comp is super fast, and not like my craptop.

Normally, all I do with photos is move them from my iPhone to my computer's (Windows 7) hard drive. I do this by connecting the iPhone with the cable, a box pops up on the screen asking me what I want to do, and I choose "Import pictures and videos". I've previously selected the "delete photos from the device after move" option (or however it's worded...), simply because I don't want this device to fill up with photos.
Lately, it has been importing the photos fine, but it won't delete them from the iPhone. This used to work just fine, now it doesn't work and I don't know what changed, if anything. In iTunes, I get the error message I list at the beginning of this message.
How do I fix this?

You'll want to tune your client ports a bit
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj204760.aspx as seen here, and then the client ports would use those ranges which is easier to set QoS markings. I'm not sure the mobile clients respect that setting.

However, the marking of the packets is the tricky part. Windows can do it via Group Policy, but for the other clients you'll need to have the network specifically prioritize ports regardless of DSCP markings. You have to do it based on ports
as the traffic could be peer to peer.

What is the SDK kit for the Iphone??? what does it do?/

its a kit created by apple so that 3rd party applications can be created for the iphone. it will allow developers to create new programs for the iphone, of corse they will have to play by apples rules by developing their software with apples kit. once again, stop trying to regulate my iphone apple! its my phone!!! now that thats out there, do we have a specific date yet on the sdk kit? i believe they said february.

It will show pictures and videos if I choose, Start Slideshow, but it won't show anything else, no apps, etc.

I bought this for video analysis presentations with an app on the phone, so this is a key feature for me.

I also have not figured out how to mirrow either. I ask you both, is the sound via the projector louder than the phone itself when projector is tuerned off? No matter what I do the max vilume through the projector speakers is lower that the phone itself even with phone remaining installed in projector. I am think of taking it back to try another one.

The ipad video player is not as good as the iphone video player.
I'm specifically referring to how it handles chapters and episode info.
1 - episode info
With the iphone, when I'm looking at the list of videos, in addition to the show title, it displays the season and episode #.
With the ipad, it only shows show title. And since episodes are for some reason sorted by show title, it's impossible to play the show back in episode # order, since it's not displayed...
2- chapters
With the iphone, when a video with chapter marks is being played back, as part of the play controls, there is a chapter option so you can see what and where the chapter marks are and can easily go to them directly.
With the ipad, this chapter option is not there. You can only get to a specific chapter by forwarding chapters one-by-one.
No idea why the two players can't have the same functionality.
Hopefully someone from apple can see this and consider it for a future update.
(is this the best way to get them info/suggestions for future updates???)

Is there a flash drive for the iPhone 5 that I can plug into my phone, copy all of the hundreds of photos and videos I've taken of my baby nephew using the iPhone camera to, and then pull out so I can just give the drive to my sister? Downloading/transferring all those photos and videos to my computer, then emailing or sorting and burning them to a disc would take FOREVER. The photos and videos of the baby are all mixed in with my personal photos and videos I've taken and sorting them out would be a nightmare. Plus, I want the original photos and videos to remain on my camera even after I copy them for my sister. Any help/ideas would be most appreciated!

One clarification: I agree that the iPhone is not for long-term photo storage and I'm not looking to use it that way. What I'm looking for is a quick and easy way for me to get the photos/videos of my nephew to my sister so SHE can store them long-term. (Then I can delete all but a few of them and transfer them to my computer for storage pretty quickly and easily). The way I know to get all those photos/videos to her would take a very long time (which I don't have) and would require a lot of time sorting (which I don't have time to do either). Please don't suggest I pare down the photos and videos for her. This baby is a miracle baby and the Mom needs to get all the photos and videos. Understand where I'm coming from?
Regarding not keeping any favorite photos/videos on an iPhone: It seems normal to have some favorite photos and videos remain on an iPhone, kind of like a "Grandma's brag book" of most beloved photos. Even the most no-nonsense person might have 20-30 photos of someone or something they love, so they can share them with interested people or peruse them when they want to feel connected or be grounded.
I can't be the only person dealing with this issue/needing this type of hardware. Opportunities and need for photo sharing abound. If nothing else, it seems like an easy way for Apple to make a whole lot of extra money while making a whole lot of consumers very, very happy.

How are the keyboard cases for the iPhone 4?

I've been looking around, and it appalls me that they have physical keyboards for the iPhone 4. After looking into it more, I now have a bit of Droid envy. -_-

What happened to the Miss Kitty Game for the iPhone

When that pop-up was there originally, you could delete it or keep it and it would be marked as "watched" so iTunes would get rid of it if you had a playlist set up that way, then in one of the later releases of iTunes there was a bug where if you deleted it, it wouldn't get marked as watched when you sync so it would get re-loaded if you had a playlist set to load unwatched videos.
It looks as if their answer to the bug is to allow for a manual delete for videos rather than that pop-up at the end. Also, if the video is watched close to the very end, it also gets marked as "watched".
So, although the keep/delete pop-up thing is gone, you can still free up space by swiping the video and pushing "delete" and now it syncs properly to boot.
So, they decided to use different functionality to address the bug -- maybe they got a lot of feedback wherein people didn't like the keep/delete pop-up.

Is AppleCare going to be available for the iPhone 5?

Title basically explains everything. I contacted Bestbuy to see if they knew but all they said is they know they're going to offer their warranty which is almost $300 for 2 years. So, I was wondering if AppleCare+ was going to be available for the iPhone 5 at the price it was offered for the 4S? ($100 for lifetime) Or would it be more?

Have you ever even used skype on an iphone or ipod? We tried it and there is no way to type to each other while you are video chatting. You can do the typing during the video on a COMPUTER, but not on an iphone or ipod.
