For the moderators

Hi all
If we post a code tutorial or a blog the points were awarded but not the same points for all the content,It differs based on the quality of the blog or tutorial
My concern is like while awarding the points the moderators should give some comments like why this much point is awarded even if it is more or less,It would be great for the posters to improve in the forthcoming contents
Just simply awarding points without comments doesnt look good

Hi,
It seems a valid point and I think it will be really good for the contributors to know why they received less points.
In many a cases I have noticed that there is be some sort of comment if people have received more points as "Topic of the Month", "Featured on the SDN Homepage" etc..

    This post is for the Moderators:
    Following up my initial post about the Reward system, here and here are very good examples of how someone new to the forum posts a question, receives guidance, suggestions etc. resolving the problem, and in turn marks the thread (at least as of now) "answered".
    Seems like something very counter-intuitive happens with the current Reward system that is unproductive for best measuring helpful participation.
    I like ~Bee's suggestion from the above referenced post eliminating the "answered" option; instead making the option either "solved" or "helpful".
    Thoughts? Comments? Thanks

    Not that I don't agree with you, at the contrary, and I even saw once, one OP who used to reward before but who doesn't do it anymore.
    But putting this in a larger perspective, I think the points system works quite well enough now, and that our Mods and Admins must be busy enough on some other (now) more urgent issues.

    Although your "percentages feelings" are shared, although it is true that many of my "useful" or "solved" replies are not rewarded, still my Status Level points counting grows faster now than in the Old Discussions, where I was as active and using quite the same forums.
    In the old discussions, positive votes and voting counting were added "officially" at a random rate of 1/5, but in fact the rate was not more than 1/20...
    I think the "non-rewarded" vs "rewarded" rate today is somewhere between these 1/5 and 1/20, that is, better than before, and that's why my points total grows faster in the New Discussions.
    If everything was always awarded, soon we'd have to change the Level requirements to higher values IMO, or soon everybody would become a Level 5.
    I know I'm not being too logical here, but that's because priority is responsiveness and reducing those !@#$% daily maintenance breaks...

    I think there should be a way to award a useful post, even if we are not the Original Poster.
    But because the good old Voting system is definately perverted IMO (in many obvious and non-obvious ways), I think the new system, "OP-based", is better,

    we still should be able to mark as Helpful, in a very limited way, like only five times a day for example and not gaining/giving points.
    Personally I prefer the voting system from a logical point of view,
    but,
    I'm afraid the Real World has reached the Discussions, because in reality I feel better now that the system is theoretically unfair.
    Because the "wrong points" feeling comes from innocent/lazy OPs, not anymore from cheating and perverting.
    Please don't laugh too loud, and call that "thoughts" if you please...

  • Question for the moderators about KT400/MSI

    ive seen the overwhelming number of posts about this mobo, i cant help but wonder. WHEN is msi coming out with a good bios to fix all the memory probs/file transfer probs/ati 9700 probs? ive posted my problem numerous times and everytime i get the PS answer. ive read countless other posts where thats the advice you give the poor soul who also has the same model and problem (misery loves company!!) so they go out and waste more money getting a 500 watt PS and still have the exact same problem. is MSI ignoring their customers? are they listening? do they know how jacked up this chipset is? is their answer going to be "get a bigger PS"? im tired of waiting. im NOT going to fool around with a "BETA" bios either. thats just plain asking for trouble, and i cant afford to have my computer down. it costs me money/time. whats the answer? i am thinking of asking one or two of the bigger hardware/internet news sites this same question. maybe getting that kind of attention would rattle MSI into an answer because they dont seem to be able to answer emails very well... MSI has got to get on the ball.

The problem is this: recently, attackers have learned to delete accounts using the holes in the program. It is a very serious vulnerability just Skype: you can be banned for a short period any account with any balance, with any number of contacts. How does this vulnerability? Everything is very simple. By many accounts the sacrifice are listed in black list, report the violation. Of course you will say that this is just a security system. But many people are not honest.     The hole you are describing is known. There are certain teams working on it. So far, we do not have any public statement or ETA for the fix. None of the moderators are in a position to provide a fix for this problem.
    The best thing I can suggest is to ask CS to escalate it. If they refuse, ask to escalate again and again, until they do this.

  • Outlook - The path specified for the file SharePoint Lists PST is not valid

    Some users are connecting via Citrix XenApp to Microsoft Server 2008 R2 and using Microsoft Office 2010 (14.0.7109.5000) SP2 MSO (14.0.7116.5000) - Microsoft Office Profressional Plus 2010 x86 version for their email.  Microsoft Exchange Server 2010
    SP2 for email.
    They are connected to Microsoft SharePoint 2010 SP2 August 2013 CU, via a SharePoint Calender; they have View permissions to the SharePoint calendar using Classic Mode permissions (Not Claims).  No permissions have / are changing on this SharePoint
    Calendar.  They connect to the SharePoint Calender to Outlook.
    When they open up their Office Outlook client, they receive an error "Outlook Data File" "The path specified for the file \AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\SharePoint Lists.pst is not valid." OK
    They select OK and they get a window popping up with the option to try to find the SharePoint list.  "Create/Open Outlook Data File" (File name: 'SharePoint Lists') Open Cancel.  They select Cancel.
    They are returned to their Outlook client "email." 
    As an I.T. administrator and SharePoint Administrator, I had a remote session with them, using Bomgar software and I Go to File Menu, Account Settings, SharePoint Lists Tab but there is no list there so go to the Data Files tab and see SharePoint Lists listed. 
    Selecting it once, and clicking on Settings... button gives error message similar to the one above about PST not valid.
    STRANGE in that, when you do that!  You can go to Home tab, Calendar (Ctrl+2), and see Other Calendars and now the SharePoint calendar that was supposed to be there before, but was just "empty!"  There was only the Other Calendars
    option but it didn't have any "sub" calendar item.
    A similar issue is when Other Calendars is listed, and has a sub calendar listed, a SharePoint connected calendar.  You click on it and get "Microsoft Outlook" "The set of folders cannot be opened. The path specified for the file c:\Users\USERNAMEHERE\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\SharePoint
    Lists.pst is not valid."  OK
    Click OK and go through the above steps to get the same result.  After going into Account Settings, Data Files, checking on the Settings... button, and receiving the error message, again mentioned above, and the prompt to Create/Open Outlook Data File,
    thgen I can go back into Account Settings, Data Files, and double click on the SharePoint Lists and instead of an error, the Outlook Data File comes up, with Change Password... Compact Now, Comment, Name, Filename, Format (Outlook Data File) OK Cancel.
    Can go back to the Calendar (Ctrl+2) and Other Calendars, and the SharePoint Calendar "Sub calendar" will appear and operate as normal!  All was done was go into the Account settings and "check" on the "error." 
    Tried to delete the SharePoint Lists and close out and add it and then go back in, and it "worked" for a few days.  I later turned on Logging and for over 24 hours it was on for the user.  The user was not on forever. 
    In the Outlook Logging folder, from the users profile, I found many *.log files, firstrun, OPMLog, ETL files, one of which is 6MB, and some prof_001_outlook....txt files.  I clickedo n the SharePoint Lists.pst.log file 1KB

    They are using a CRM client 2011 (Server is CRM 2011 - on premise) as well as having other connected email accounts - managed accounts, like Accounting or HR, etc.
    What can I look for / provide for you all to assist?  I am almost ready to open a ticket with Microsoft to resolve this as it has been happening for multiple users for multiple weeks.
    When "I" go in, logged on as myself, I do NOT have this problem, however my account is not "old" in that I just logged onto the account domain\matthew.carter, where these users use their accounts day in and day out for weeks / months
    / (some years).

    Unfortunately, what was marked as an "answer" by the moderators isn't really an answer at all to the problem. We are experiencing pretty much an identical issue with a calendar people are adding to Outlook 2010 from SharePoint 2010 within a XenApp
    server (using roaming profiles). However, we have not had the issue occur outside of XenApp yet.

    I'm sure most all of you have had this same problem I <strike>had:</strike> When you try to install the firmware update it says 'Plug in your player'!!? A very frusterating message mainly when your player is CLEARLY plugged in. So here's how I came about my solution!?I endlessly searched on this support forum, and I found that several people had found the solution several different ways!? Then other people have tried other's solutions, and it worked for some, but not all!?The forums have obviously pointed the problem at the computer, and not the player. They are halfly right, the problem isn't what you do on the player, but it's what they do to the player. I figured that there was something that the succesfull posters?did in the mean-time between posts that the unsuccesfull posters didn't do. It also didn't make sense, like others said was the problem, that it was Windows Media Player!? They said that you needed to roll it back, downgrade, to WMP 9 or 0. This made absolutely no sense to me because when I brought up WMP , and 0 for that matter, it recognized 'creative ZEN touch' under the 'synch' tab. After I found the solution, sorry for writing so long about how instead of just what it is: I just wanted to make it clear that this is the solution, I told my dad what it was!?He said that it made perfect sense because when my older brother tried to upgrade his firmware on his Dell MP3 Player, a message said that:It must be fully charged!?Beore you mess up your computer deleting all of these files and waste your time, try plugging your player into the wall at the same time it's plugged into the computer!? Then run your firmware update and bravo!? You are back in buisness!?Here is what to do in a little easier reading format:?. Plug your player into the wall.2. a. Plug your player into the computer.?b. (your player, at least my ZEN touch, should have the 'Docked' screen up. I'm not completely sure how this comes about, but I think that it'll appear that way while downloading the firmware update.)? If not, then try it anyways!3. Go to http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/?and search by product!4. Download the firmware update.?I hope that the moderators and admins find that this is, in fact, the solution!? Make this a sticky or something!? Your loss, not mine. :smileysurprised:

    The idea is to reach out the message to as many as folks via relevant forums. Most of my otehr posts have found mentioned only on PSE forum.

    Does anyone know how I can get hold of GRC V5.0 User Guide(s) for Risk Analysis and Remediation, Compliant User Provisioning, Enterprise Role Management, and Superuser Privilege Management?  So far I can only get Installation Guide, Configuration Guide, Upgrade Guide, etc. from the SAP Ramp-up website; but not the function modules.  Is there a user guide for the four modules?
    Also can anyone tell me about their experience with GRC V5.3 ramp-up?  Good or bad, what to watch out, etc.  Any information will be appreciated.

    You need to know that this isn't a support forum.  It was created by Verizon as a place for customers to help each other.  You can post all you want, but Verizon doesn't respond to issues here.  If you want to get a message to Verizon you need to call or chat with them.
    Occasionally, the Verizon moderators will escalate specific customer issues to their support team, but I wouldn't count on any posts here resulting in any action from Verizon.  Note that the strongest message you can send Verizon is to send them less or zero money as a result of downgrading or canceling your service.
    Now, if you'd like help from other users post some details.  There are a bunch of helpful people lurking here just waiting to jump in.  But you have to give us a real issue and not a complaint about Verizon.

    I know I came across as being very upset, and I still am. Neither Compaq or Creative Labs phone support were able to help me with this and I have been sitting here patiently waiting for days for some sort of answer from someone.
    I still found this whole process VERY confusing to say the least. And before you lecture me on the "correct processes' or my behavior, consider this. I am a very technically knowledgable person. If I had this much trouble finding a driver for this card, imagine what other less knowledgable people have to go through. Most likely they would wind up purchasing a whole new card when really there is no need for it.
    In my mind and others I am sure, its ridiculous to have a completely different set of drivers for an OEM card with the same specs as the retail version.
    Again thank you for your help. Its a shame you felt you needed to close the thread before I could thank you. I guess controlling the argument is of more importance to the Creative moderators instead of working with someone to find an answer.
    Handing the problem off to another vendor is sadly very typical of the tech word, and its sad to see that you guys have tried to do the same. In the end, you provided a link to the correct driver and I am grateful for that.

    Ian Bell, you have to get one thing very straight here, these are NOT support forums! these are only for user interaction, if you have a problem with a COMPAQ PC, you contact COMPAQ SUPPORT, if they forward you to Creative Support, then this means the CREATIVE email support, not just posting your questions in a USER forum and demanding an answer from the moderators, who's job is only to moderate the forum not handle customer support.
    You should be happy THEY helped you find the link COMPAQ should have provided.

    Normally that only happens if you're the originator of the thread. Since you are for the referenced thread, you may get a notification if the Hosts decide to remove the entire thread. If they just prune it of extraneous material, you probably will not receive any sort of notfication.
