What happens if i have already purchased and installed LR 5 and have the upgrade also installed? Will the 9.99 monthly package overwrite what i already paid for or will it give me an option when loading to only update when changes to the program are made?

Just bought one - arrives next week. From what i can tell it's should be the fastest mac for lightroom. Processor speed is most vital. Doesn't really use all the mac pro multiple cores as I understand 4 is plenty (correct me pls?) and 16Gb ram should hopefully do it. Getting a raid thunderbolt 2 drive for image storage which will daisy chain with my eizo monitor. Choose 3tb internal fusion as I understand full SSD doesn't really help too much. 2GB graphics plenty unless you're doing video maybe?.
Only issue is I have a series of archive 3TB firewire 800 drives which are daisy chained. the questions is how will these work with an adapter but this remains to be seen.... -
First glance for the new T9300 platform - T61p with Penryn processor
Hi was looking for reviews about the Penryn in Lenovo T61p but I didn't find any one since the platform was released. My expectations were totally fulfilled. This platform really rocks!!
I have a Lenovo T61, 14.1" Widescreen, processor T7300, 3 useful Gigs in RAM, Intel Turbo memory and a 160 HD with 5k400 (to avoid waste more energy but looks like is almost identical to 7k200) with Vista Ultimate and takes 2 minutes to finalize all the operations with about 83 active process (after a routinary process to refresh the Intel Turbo memory that is stabilized to around 5 to 8 standards start ups and disabling Sidebar, scan and images services, table input services, windows search and diskepper services). With only 3 months with such results and configurations I was asked how bad will be Window Vista and let me say that It generate a heavy load to my computer. So, my options were downgrade to Windows XP or buy a more powerful computer. In Windows world, the infamous WEI (Windows Experience Index) get me a global 4.1 score because the NVidia Quadro NVS a 128 was not more poweful to handle the Aero's graphical interface (that means that such interface is not yet optimized because is more heavy than the games graphics, does mean to everyone?. The T7300's WEI score is:
Processor: 4.9
Memory: 4.8
Aero: 4.1
Gaming graphs: 4.7
Hard disk: 4.8
Ok, now our business with the new platform, I had the opportunity to get the newst version of intel core Duo 2 in a mobil version of Penryn with all the advantages of the T61P and 15.4" widescreen with 1900 x 1200 resolution.
The results were totally different. The first load was with only 1 Gib of Ram (because I had 4 gig of RAM already from my "older" T61), take to the system 1 minute for all loading all the process that I had disable in the first computer. Every navigational process over Windows was smooth and fast. Once I upgrade the memory to 4 gigs (only 3 useful by my 32 operating system version), the result was incredible better (obviously also were improved the harddisk to 7k200, 2.5 Ghz intead 2.0 Ghz of the T7300 and the double of capacity in the Nvidia Quadro FX 570 graphics card), but for only $500 more of the price of the older T7300 was a deal in results. Now the results in the WEI score appears the following numbers:
Processor: 5.4
Memory: 5.0
Aero: 5.5
Gaming graphs: 5.9
Hard disk: 5.3
It's only numbers but the general performance was boosted with this configuration, and why I'm using WEI score instead another benchmark units, it's simple, because this is the standard tool that comes with our enemy (Windows Vista) and are the results that you can see in your normal life using Windows, Office and another "standard" tools. After the first startup, all the components of the Office Vista open in less than 2 secs. Will be the speed, the enhanced 6mb of L2 cache, but a true is that the results are really evident and clear, finally the platform it's ready to run Windows vista in a smooth way. Now you can imagine how it'll works with windows Vista or Linux OS??
It's was an overview from a standpoint of a normal user, no more deeper or technical detail that que basics.
I hope this will be useful for those that are sad because feel that their computers are slow, and believe that the battle was lost vs Vista... the new option is here!!

1. Install you own Vista (you don't need to backup the original, Lenovo Thinkpad has the backup)
2. Install your firewall if you have one;
3. Plug in internet cable and download "automatic system update from Lenovo- system update
3.13" (here is the link: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/TVSU-UPDATE.html#hp) and install it. (The system update software can download all the drivers for you)
4. Before run the System update, adjust internet setting (internet option-->connection-->Lan setup-->disable automatic search (the first one)), otherwise the software'll be interrupted in the middle.
5. Run system update and download the drivers and softwares you need.
6. Download and install Video card driver: Either FM570 from Lenovo or 8600GT. (I just installed FM570 from Lenovo website cause I am using it for CAD as well)

Tips for speed up the Vista (dramaticly~~!):
Control Panel-->System-->Advance system setup-->Advance-->Performence
-->>Advance-->virtual memory (change)-->Choose no page files
The reason for this is that HD almost does the most hard work in the latop and virtual memory will increase the most work load for it. Since we have 4GB ram, we don't need virtual memory and relase HD's load.

I thought the whole reason for the new Airport n router with USB HD connection was to be able to connect a large, 500GB USB hard drive to the Aiport n. Then have ripped movies or photos stored on this network drive. And then AppleTV could stream from this hard drive? The 40gb AppleTV HD becomes mostly for the OS.

Nope. As with iTunes Sharing, an Apple TV cannot use a library directly from a hard drive. You must have a computer running iTunes for the Apple TV to connect to.
You can, I believe, put your iTunes library on the Airport-shared hard drive, but I wouldn't be comfortable doing that if it were me. My view on such wireless hard drives is that they're best for file transfers and backups, not for use as one's primary storage device. -

ACR 8.7 has not yet been released. The ACR 8.7RC has been released. It is a Release Candidate - and as such, is not a final version. I wouldn't be concerned about a lack of Lightroom support until a final version is released.

If your budget is unlimited, look at both the retina and non-retina and make a decision based on your preferences. If funds are tight, explore the options in the refurbished section. Unless you are dealing with courses that demand specific performance parameters, any one of these options will suffice.

I upgraded from iPhone 3G to 4S a few days ago. When setting up the new 4S, I choose to restore my last 3G backup. It started by updating the OS to version 5.1 (9B179) then restored my apps and setting. Everything went well except that I realized I do not have the new apps which come with the 4S, like FaceTime, HD video and Siri.
What should I do to correct this?
Thank you in advance for any help on this.Ah, FaceTime is not an app, either. It's accessed by tapping the FaceTime button when you are in the contacts app and have selected a contact. This can also be done from the Phone app under the Contacts tab, or during a call, you can switch to FaceTime.
