For we network engineers: sure would be nice if the octets could increment

For those of us who find ourselves cranking-out subnets & network worksheets, it sure would be awesome if the octets could increment as the user dragged down the column.
In that one other spreadsheet program from that one other company that we just switched-off of in favor of Numbers, the user could enter, oh, say 10.0.10.0 in the first cell, highlight the cell, grab a hold of the bottom right corner of the cell & drag down the sheet, and you got something like this:
10.0.10.0
10.0.10.1
10.0.10.2
10.0.10.3
10.0.10.4
10.0.10.5
10.0.10.6
et cetera
et cetera
et cetera
et cetera
et cetera
I am requesting that the peeps at Apple include this super kewl little trick that saves a ton of time. I cant really charge my clients $XXX per hour for filling-in 255 (or more)(or many many more) cells in a worksheet with single incrementing numbers. And even if I were not on the clock it would still be incredily time-saving.
Thanks
Cheers.
Peace.

Hello
Assuming that the first value is stored in row 1,
you may use this formula:
="10.0.10." &(ROW()-1)

  • Iweb it sure would be nice to ahve full functionality without being on .mac

Iweb it sure would be nice to ahve full functionality without being on .mac. I am apro photographer I need to look professional. I would like a hit counter and a fully functioning slide show. Too bad I cannot do this with the current iweb

    Welcome to the forum
I am a .mac user, and there are lots of others on here who aren't and they use both slideshows and hit counters.
If you are prepared to do a little post publishing processing of scripts and html, then these things are available to you.
For a slideshow, visit Cyclosaurus' site, he has done great work for non .mac users.
For a hit counter, do a search on this forum for either NeoCounter or Stat Counter, you should get a few threads back.
    Good luck and enjoy iWeb.

Bought 4th Gen 3TB TC - streaming TV over the internet is now so slow and now is constantly buffering.  It seems the Airport Utility is always 'searching for new networks' - don't know if this is the problem.  It's not the internet speed as checked that.  I took my old router upstairs and was streaming TV via my ipad seamlessly - the same program via the TC was constantly buffering.
I just expected to be able to plug in the TC, so a simple set-up and experience wireless both upstairs and downstairs in my house.  For some reason the range is low and speed veru disappointing.
I am far from being an IT expert but I would welcome advice about setting up this TC so we can enjoy the product as it was designed.  Please HELP!

No silver bullet........but my suggestions may drive you in the right direction.
    1.  Unplug the power cable from the TC and wait 10-15 minutes before powering back up.   Seriously wait!
Proceed to #2 if this dosen't help.
    2.  Unplug the power cable from the TC, ubplug the power cable from your Broadband Modem (assuming it's a cable modem), disconnect ethernet, and cable from modem.
2a.  Wait 10-15 minutes then re-connect cable, ethernet, and power back to modem (your modem should power up unless you have a power switch)  wait for all the modem lights to come on EXCEPT activity.
2b.  Connect ethernet from modem to TC, and plug in the power cable to TC.
Proceed to #3 if this dosen't help.
    3.  Reconfigure the TC.........Read here........http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3728
All really simple to do....if you need additional help let me (us) know.

  • VirtualBench looks greate but it would be nice if the scope were 12 bit instead.

The virtual bench hardware concept is awesome.   The price is right and the mix of hardware is perfect ( a small switch matrix would be a cool addition) but my only real complaint is the scope - it would be nice if it were 10-12 bit instead.   I would definitely pay an additional $500-1000 for the additional resolution.   The rest of the specs are great.

We have been using LeCroy 12 bit scopes.  Most scopes I've seen are 8 bit.   We do a lot of small signal stuff (mV).   Differential probes can be used to amplify but we have found that extra resolution works better.   Most of the time we are analog and we really don't need speed just resolution.  I would settle for 10 bt but after having used  12 bit scope I don't think I would settle for an 8 bit scope.
I'll have to give LeCroy a look one of these days then.  I'm a fan of Tekronix scopes.  I'm sure they have 12 bit as well, but are likely more expensive than I would want to spend for my setups.
As far as the DMM, I've been spoiled by the PXI-4072 for far too long to want to go down to a 5 1/2 digit DMM.  Of course, the PXI-4072 also costs $800+ more than the Virtual Bench.  Might be worth the hit.

  • It would be nice if the IOS7 calendar in weekly view would show more

When viewing in weekly view, all-day events appear at the top.  When there are two or less, the size of that window reduces.  It would be nice if it expanded to show all, all-day events for that day.  Currently I have to scroll up and down to see them.

    Hi Kathy,
No need to apologize. It's your first time submitting, so I'm going to go waaaay out on a limb & assure you that you are not being redundant!
Welcome to the Apple Support Community. Your post actually inspired me, if you will, to find a way to peruse through new music releases without having to come across genres that I absolutely do not care for... like Metal or Rap. Go figure!
Okay, what I found was that when you are in the iTunes Store, you can simply click on Music as shown below:
Then if you look over to the right just below the rotating billboards, you will see the following:
Then it's simply a matter of selecting which genre you want to see; for example:
Voilà! The page will show nothing but.... you guessed it, kathyfromindianapolis!
Then, if you want to see most of the newest releases by genre; then simply click on the " See All > " hyperlink just to the left of the 'genre selector box' & that will bring you to a page like this:
Finally, up in the top right corner, there is a 3-way toggle with a little triangle with which you can sort by Name, by Release Date, or by Featured. I believe that the default setting is 'Featured', however, I prefer the 'Release Date' as that puts it all in chronological order for y'all!
So, your suggestions are nice, Kathy, but since it would cost Apple the time involved in facilitating such a change; chances are (realistically speaking) that your suggestion(s) will go unheeded. Nonetheless, I hope that what I have found (because of your initiative) helps you come closer to what you suggested.
    Best Regards,
    mm~

  • FF not connecting to web- This "Network Connections" message pops up: Error 623: The system could not find the phone book entry for this connection. Any ideas?

About a month ago I could no longer connect to the internet on our PC. Every time I clicked on the Firefox icon the Netscape sign-on window would pop up. I would try to close it but it would pop up over and over again. If I tried to close it a dozen or so times eventually Firefox would open up but it would never connect. Just today I moved my Netscape file to the recycle bin. No longer does the Netscape sign-on window pop up but following Network Connection error message pops up: "Error 623: The system could not find the phone book entry for this connection".. This error window behaves the same way the Netscape sign-on window used to behave. Every time I click to close it it pops open again. After numerous clicks Firefox opens up but it never connects.

Do you have this error message on a Mac computer or on a Windows computer?
I've only seen this error mentioned on a Windows computer.

  • How to select domain OU for "Apply Network Settings" task sequence step, based on the ip address.

We are finally getting ready to migrate from SCCM 2007 to 2012 R2.
Our current setup has 5 site servers with five OSD setups with boot media and Windows 7 task sequences.
I want to move all that to one site with a single OSD W7 task sequence.
The current, "apply network settings", step adds the workstation to one of five different  OUs. The same with the "apply windows settings" step, we have five local admin passwords for five regions around the state.
I thought I might run five versions of each step and add a condition to each one that would only run if the machine was on the right subnet. Or the right Boundary group or maybe the right active directory site.
Currently I'm creating five boundary groups that I hope to detect by running a power script get-CmBoundaryGroup. Then apply the results maybe as a task sequence variable in the task steps options/Add Conditions.
Anybody have a better approach. Or alternate plan.

Are you integrated with MDT? If so, you can use customsettings.ini to put machines into specific OUs based on the DefaultGateway.
    See these links for ideas:

  • Can I change which nic is used for a cluster network when more than one nic on the node is on same subnet?

This cluster has been up and working for maybe a year and a half the way it is.  There are two nodes, running Server 2012.  In addition to a couple network interfaces devoted to VM traffic each node has:
    Management Interface: 192.168.1.0/24
    iSCSI Interface: 192.168.1.0/24
    Internal Cluster Interface: 192.168.99.0/24
The iSCSI interfaces have to be on same subnet as management interfaces due to limitations in the shared storage.  Basically if I segregate it I wouldn't be able access the shared storage itself for any kind of management or maintenance tasks.
I have restricted the iSCSI traffic to only use the one interface on each cluster node but I noticed that one of the cluster networks is connecting the management interface on one cluster node member with the iSCSI interface on the other cluster node member.
I would like for the cluster network to be using the management interface on both cluster node members so as not to interfere with iSCSI traffic.  Can I change this?
Binding order of interfaces is the same on both boxes but maybe I did that after I created the cluster, not sure.

    Hi MnM Show,
Tim is correct, if you are using ISCSI Storage and using the network to get to it, it is recommended that the iSCSI Storage fabric have a dedicated and isolated network. This
network should be disabled for Cluster communications so that the network is dedicated to only storage related traffic.
This prevents intra-cluster communication as well as CSV traffic from flowing over same network. During the creation of the Cluster, ISCSI traffic will be detected and the network
will be disabled from Cluster use. This network should set to lowest in the binding order.

  • HT1178 I just bought an Airport Time Capsule. I already have a AirportExtreme for my wireless network for my home. Which would be better; connect the time capsule up to the extreme or use it as the primary base station?

Is it better to connect my Time Capsule up to my existing wireless network or use the Airport Time Capsule as the base unit and start over again by creating a new network?

There is no end of answers to this..
But if you want AC wireless.. assuming you bought a new TC.. and the Extreme is the older N model.. then simply make sure the TC is as close as possible to where wireless AC client will be used.. and connect it back to the main router whichever that is, by ethernet.
If both are AC then it will make no difference.
As long as you can connect them both by ethernet and not use wireless extend.. it won't make much difference.
The worst case is where you use wireless extend and expect high speed but totally lose it because of your bridge link.. if that is the case you wasted your money and you can return the TC and buy a hard disk and plug it into the AE.

  • Sure would be nice to buy some new music.

what the heck is wrong with itunes store

Considering the other threads related to this it's safe to say none of us know what the problem is. Other than contacting apple (which I believe others have tried in vain) it's just one of those seriously annoying things we have to wait for Apple to fix.

  • Sure would be nice if this worked with the iPhone

    http://www.iskin.com/cerulean/index.tpl?cart=11843441597373892

Hmm, the iPod HiFi is made by Apple correct?
I can connect my 5G iPod to the adapter cable that goes between the dock connector on the bottom of the iPod to the AUX input on my car stereo and listen to the music.
HOWEVER, if I connect the adapter cable to the dock connector on the bottom of the iPhone, then I DON'T get the music output. I've been told that this is because Apple has disabled the audio out of the connector.
So, the HiFi connector must pull the audio from a different set of pins.
I guess we need to compare the pinouts of the iPod and the iPhone along with the HiFi connector pinout.
