you wouldn't; when you log in with your account, the store has a record that you bought the software, just download it again, or on the 2nd machine

  • Grace period for update to Logic pro 7.2

    Hi all,
I just got my Logic Pro 7.1 today, version which I ordered a few days back. Does anybody know if I have to pay for the update to Logic Pro 7.2 or if there's a grace period? It's very annoying if I have to pay for an update.
    Thanks for any informations
    Baz

This not for us PPC users or users without Pro tools
Mostly for GARAGEBAND users wanting to switch to PRO
why they call it pro, i don't understand
after $75 Australian dollars and i still have to buy another plug-in to make logic work properly
what kind of morons are sitting behind Emagic seats right now, and if it still the Emagic guys then i feel sorry for you guys
Every other Pro DAW has this feature and it comes with the app with the price you pay, even the applications that don't call their-self pros has it
    GOD !!!
you can't even change a tempo more than 5 bpm up or down without regretting to buy logic
the future of logic doesn't look great after all (i was so happy when apple took over and brought logic 7) it hasn't even that long and all the happiness are turning down after each update and each time i open the application)

  • Mac Pro configuration for the best Logic Pro 8 performance

    Hello,
I noticed that sometimes I have little delays playing midi keyboard in Logic Pro 8.
What is the hardware configuration of Mac Pro for the best Logic Pro 8 performance?
Do I need to install any sound card or any additional software?
    My hardware overview is:
    Model Name: Mac Pro
    Model Identifier: MacPro1,1
    Processor Name: Dual-Core Intel Xeon
    Processor Speed: 3 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 2
    Total Number Of Cores: 4
L2 Cache (per processor): 4 MB
    Memory: 1 GB
    Bus Speed: 1.33 GHz
    Boot ROM Version: MP11.005C.B08
    SMC Version: 1.7f10
    thank you,
    Vlad

You should definiteley get some more RAM first. Buy another 3 Gigabytes to make it 4 Gigs. The Lateny you're experiencing is due to the Buffer settings within Logic. If you set that to 64 or 128 samples (in the Audio preferences->devices->Buffer) the Latency will improve but it will also reduce the number of Plug Ins you can use at the same time as lower Buffer settings require more CPU.
You didn't mention an Audio Interface which you should obtain if you want to record live Instruments. For the start you can do everything in the Box but the analog minijack Ins/Outs built in your Mac are not really state of the art and you'll improve the sound by getting a good Firewire Interface.
Also get a second/third HD as you should not be recording onto your system drive. It's good to have one drive dedicated for recording Audio and another one for samples/Jam Packs/Loops.

Normally a window's ISO image can easily be opened in Finder just by double clicking on it...
The OP is referring to a Logic "Song" where the file extension was/is .LSO

  • Every other time I type cmd k for keyboard in Logic Pro X, the track that is selected is muted.

The title kind of says it all. Every other time that I press the shortcut for onscreen keys, the selected track is muted. By that I mean if I press cmd+k it brings up the keyboard unmuted, then press cmd+k to get rid of it and it's still fine, but the next time I press cmd+k to bring the keyboard back up, the track is muted.
Only noticed this today, and don't know what I did. Please Help!

Figured it out! On the menu bar I clicked Logic Pro X > Control Surfaces > Learn Assignment for "Mute", which meant that I Mute was the last command that I had clicked on. In the (No Zone) section, there was a Learned Assignment, and I simply clicked delete and it disappeared. Now everything is just fine.

  • Are their any tutorials out  there for begginers of Logic Pro 7...

I'm really starting to feel kinda stupid with this logic pro 7 program somebody please help me! if not i'm realling thinking about selling my laptop and logic pro 7 to get a akai mpc 2500.....

    Here's some starting points:
    http://www.apple.com/logicpro/resources.html
I highly recommend starting with one of the Logic tutorial DVD's that actually show and tlak you through things, like the Martin Sitter ones, which will get you started.
Failing that, a friend who's knowledgable in the ways of Logic to help you set it up on your system for your own workflow is the absolute best way.

  • Is it possible to have the synthesizer interfaces for the included LOGIC PRO synths in MainsStage as a standalone?

I recently purchased MainStage as they included the instruments from Logic Pro and In the help files it shows the LOGIC synths with the nice GUIs for each included synth; but it seems you have to recreate all of the parameter controls for each synth if using only MainStage as I can not find how to view the synthesizer interfaces.  Does anyone know if this is the case or is there a way to tweak the synths using the nice already layed-out interfaces that are in Logic?

    Hi
Locate the Instrument plugin in the Instrument Channel Strip and double click to open the plugin GUI

  • Recording Audio For Timeline With Logic Pro In Real Time

I do commentaries on videos and was wondering if there is an easier way than what im doing now..
Right now I export my video from premiere to a bad quality version and import it into logic pro and record the commentary there.
Then I have to bounce the audio and import it back to premiere.
Is there a way to get the same plugins that are in logic pro to be used in premieres audio mixer??
A dream come true would be that I could just record directly into premiere with all of the effects coming from logic pro.
Anyone know of any kind of solution or trick or anything so I dont have to keep going back and forth and to make this easier???
Thanks for any info I really appreciate it!!

I just hate going back and forth from premiere and logic and all the extra time wasted exporting the files so they will work with eachother.
I just thought of something else.... Is there a way that I can get the video in premiere to play the same time I push record in logic pro and maybe sync with it?
Like if I push record in logic the video in premiere will start playing then when I push stop in logic pro it will stop in premiere or at least stay in sync with it so the timing will be right?
if anyone has any ideas throw some out there I would love to hear them.
    Thanks!

  • For those thinking of an SSD for your older MacBook Pro....

...I just bit the bullet and am thrilled!  I have a late 2008 15" MBP (5,1).  I bought 4GB ram from OWC (www.otherworldcomputing.com) for $35 (!!) and a 240GB SSD.  The installation of the RAM was simple (you need the right screwdriver -- I picked up a cheap tool kit there as well).  Since I have Lion, I downloaded the Lion Recovery Assistant and put it on a flash drive.  After the RAM was recognized, I rebooted to the flash drive (holding down the "option" key) and the recovery drive appeared.  Clicked on it and got a menu.  First, I chose disk utilities to format the SSD, then exited back to the menu.  Then, I chose to restore from a time machine backup.  3 hours later, I was in business.
The machine boots in about 30 seconds.  Apps open instantly - one dock bounce.  Launchpad is smooth.  The unit does not get flaming hot anymore, just a bit warm.  Battery life is improved (with an old battery, too).
I did this a few months ago on my 2007 MacPro (I bought the small SSD because I only use it as a boot drive -- my data resides on a separate HDD in the second bay, with back-up drives in bays 2 and 4).
Yes, the price of SSDs is still high, but I breathed new life into my MBP and have no regrets!  Feels like a new machine!
Any questions about my experience, let me know...just thought I'd share because I know lots of folks are considering the move to SSD.

Adrian - I have one from OWC (otherworldcomputing.com).  I also have one in my 2007 MacPro as the boot drive.  Very, very happy with the performance (in fact, my MBP only gets warm...not incredibly hot).  They have a compatibility guide and install videos.  I also bought 4GB RAM (along with the correct screwdriver), which helps.  The only downside is size and cost.  I put a 240GB drive in because I don't keep that much on my MBP.  If you need a larger drive, the cost goes up considerably.  Lion is humming along, very fast and smooth.  No regrets.  If your drive is doing fine, you may want to leave well-enough alone.  If you feel it's sluggish, the SSD and additional RAM may do the trick....
I read today that Samsung is coming out with some, but no ETA or prices quoted.  OWC is a great company with purchase from, based on my experiences...

  • Admin pass word for your mac book pro

So i changed the admin password today to something random and i unfortunately cant remember the password and i didnt change the hint, is there anyway to reset the password? Or anything? :/

    Desperate For Help...Calling All EXperts.
Hey guys, I don't know where else to turn with this problem...actually can't believe I waited this long. I have a huge FUBAR of a situation going on with my MacBook Pro. About three months ago there was ann accident here and my baby got doused with water, needless to say it didn't quite get rescued all the way but I am hoping you guys can give me hope, So some keys got burned out and actually then end up sticking so I had to disable the keyboard somehow....figured that out by switching to a bluetooth keyboard. HOWEVER.....in the middle of all of this my ADMIN account was entered with the keys sticking and the the password somehoe got changed to whatever freaking sticky key pattern was entered so needless to say, my computer is now the boss of ME. To top off this flusterduck my DVD drive works about once every other month....so rebooting with install disk is not gonna happen. It is getting to be a real problem now because I can't do any upgrades because I can't alter the Applications directory because I don't have Administrator access.
Is there any hope to be able to make this work, it has to be some kind of action that I can do AFTER he bluetooth keyboard activates on startup. I know if there is anyone that can figure it out it is someone on this forum...please help me.
I have a MacBook Pro ...it is almost two years old. 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo / Memory: 4GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM I also have to 1TB external hard drives running off the firewire.
Any advice would be more than i have now....all I have is hope.

  • Is Logic Pro the Best Audio Recording Software for Mac?

Couple questions. I do a lot of audio production and work currently. I use a gateway with Cubase, and its not bad, but I feel like I need something mroe high end.
I'm looking at the 17 inch Imac. Does anyone record using this computer? How's it sound? Is there any way to put in a new soundcard or something if i don't like the current one?
Secondly, is logic pro the most advanced and best audio recording software for the mac? Are there others as well?
I know about Pro Tools, but it seems like there isn't anything high end enough that is TOO high end.
Does the Pro version have superior mixing capabilties. I am primarily going to be micing a guitar amp and having a mixer run into a firewire port, and also using a preamp for my guitar direct into the computers USB.
Lastly, how are the mixing features on Logic Pro vs. Logic Express? I do a lot of post production mixing as well, and use VST plugins. Speaking of that, will it accomodate using a drum program like BFD through VST or Midi like Cubase will?
    Thanks for your time guys.

Yes, you do indeed need sth more high end.

It's not an iMac, but a faithful PowerBook G4 that I am using. Apples Core Audio is awesome. Your sound, however, will depend on your interface.

That's why we are here, and that's why you ended up in this forum as well
To me personally, Logic sounds warmer and bigger than any ProTools system I've ever heard. From what yopu described as the work you need to do, there is no comparable application. Logic also offers you many more features above and beyond what you currently need to do.
I know about Pro Tools, but it seems like there isn't
anything high end enough that is TOO high end.
Everybody is using PT, and you should maybe get a Light Edition version of it. However, as stated above, Logic offers by far more possibilities.

For your purpose, Logic does have superior mixing capabilities. In my humble opinion, only the popularity of PT made it become the choice of studios and engineers, but things are turning...

Logic Express? I do a lot of post production mixing

If you do post production mixing, forget about Logic Express altogether and go for Logic Pro. LP will accomodate tons of plug-ins, and it comes with a bunch of great one's as well!
The format for the plug-ins is called A(udio) U(nit) and works flawlessly. Many VST plug-ins are also available in AU format and the development of those is moving fast forward.
In other words, yes, you will be able to use BFD in Logic by means of the AU format.
    Thanks for your time guys.
    You're welcome.

  • Is there anyway to either trade in your old Macbook Pro for a new version, or get a new power cord when the old one has been damaged?

Well i was just wondering.. since i do have a older version of the Macbook Pro.. and the fact that the power cord has been damaged

You can always get a price on what an Apple affiliate would give you for your old MacBook Pro by going to http://www.apple.com/recycling/gift-card/faq.html and reading the instruction for the reuse program. Or you can sell your old one on eBay (that's what I did - you'll get more for it). Apple doesn't do a simple trade-in.
Your cheapest route is just to buy a new adapter. If you don't know which adapter to get, call Apple and they can tell you, or visit your local Apple Store. They're about $80.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • How much is the final prize for the software of logic pro 9 ?

hello how much is the final prize for the app logic pro ???

The price you pay does depend on where you live. In Australia, we pay $209.99 (equivalent to US$219.25). But the price will be somewhere close to US$200.

  • How many times can Logic Pro 9 be installed on different machines?

I'm getting a new computer and wondered if I could reinstall Logic on the new computer without purchasing it again.
    Thanks!

    garfen,
No. You still need to initially install using the DVDs you purchased.
You can pick up a DVD drive for $30 from Amazon (Their basic drive which works very well) or borrow one..and install from that..
    Or
You can use Remote Disk if you still have your original Mac that had a DVD drive built in..
    Or..
Use your old Mac (or a friends) to create DMG (disk images)..from your DVDs..  save them to an ext drive and install from those images... (This is the method I used)
Once the next major version of Logic Pro is released (whenever that may be) this situation will likely be resolved as there will probably be only one way to purchase Logic Pro and that will be downloading via the App Store but for now, we do have this unfortunate situation... where the App Store and DVD versions are actually two different products still... Logic Pro and Logic Studio respectively... and are not interchangeable in regards to your situation.
