when we need to maintain the forcasting views?
if need what field we must have to maintain (mandatory field) ?
In this FORCASTING view there is option forcast value , consumption value,excute forcast . what is this.?? is it master data.

Should show up if you click the border of a container. Then if you want to see that actual measurements hover over the border again.

MRP with PD, it doesn't want to show me UNPLREQ based on forecast.

I work on a new project. I use PD as planification type.
The target is to take in account in MRP only the PLDORDER proposals (not converted in Production Order), the companie update the stock manually with MIGO to erase PldOrder at each new MRP run. (They don't want to create and manage master data as componants, BOM or routings)
Material master have forecast view, and historic of consumption are copied from past sales results.
They want to use a dynamic safety stock, which is calculated thanks to MP38. This lunch calculation of forecast collectively to create UNPLREQ in MRP every month based on the historic.
I've done the customizing, and my MRP work correctly : UNPLREQ was here and the update of stock with MIGO was good (after a MRP run PLDORDER were erased).
But after some change in customizing, I don't retreive my first situation, in fact UNPLREQ (neither none requirement) are shown now in my MRP.
I don't retrieve my mistake in customizing... Please, is somebody know where something can change the fact that you can't see the requirements in MRP??? the problem not comes from my material master data, i'm sure of that!! it's in the customizing.

Your note, even if it's for an old version of SAP, is helpfull for me. I will try to create my own planification type with the same configuration than PD but changing forcast to mandatory. I will test it and we will see after...
In fact, before my example "crash", I have tested plan. type VV and VM. So, as forcast is mandatory in this case but it's not work too, there is something which is "bizarre"!! Moreover, I've try the two way of enter forcast historic (non planned consumption and total consumption) for my article in forcast view.

MRP planning for trading company

Hello guru ,
We are a trading company .We have various sales office and show rooms where customer places their order (Sales Order ).We get the material from various vendors depending on the demand comes to the company collectively .Here most the material type are customised like ZASMB(Assembly item ),ZCOMP(Component ),ZSPR(Spare parts).Their is no material type like HAWA or HALB as it is material types are customised earlier implementation .
1.Now how to run MRP in this case ? What are the MRP view parameters need to mainatin in this case
2.Will I need to use Forcast Base Planning VV here .
3.Will need to calculate Safety stock/Re-order point by the system using the Forcaste model in Material master Forcasting view with various control data ?
4.What will be the lot size ?
Or we can use SOP using Sales Order .How to acomplishe that ?
If anybody can help me out ,it will be highly appreciated

MC87 and transfer through mc79..THis will create PIRs.. Then in MD02 you can run MRP..THe planned delivery time is an important parameter...
2.Will I need to use Forcast Base Planning VV here .
It is upto your plan.. If u wish to have, mention the forecast model in Material master
3.Will need to calculate Safety stock/Re-order point by the system using the Forcaste model in Material master Forcasting view with various control data ?

Data migration for historical consumption

Hello,
I would like to get information about data migration for historical consumption.
To make forecast, we have to load historical consumptions for each materrial (data in forcasting view / Consumption vals).
Do you know if this is possible with a batch / direct input or we should develop a programm for that ?

I am certain that I can load historical consumption using IDOC menthod for message MATMAS03
However I have never uploaded historical consumption in an extra step after the material master migration, but I guess this should work as well with this IDOC. Just make sure that you do not overwrite other data in material master.

Release strategy past actual forecasted demand

I only receive 10 weeks of forecast from my customer, is there a parementer that will create schedule lines past the 10 weeks based on historical data?

please check at MP80 whather you can create a profile and assign to material master forcasting view?.

Dear ,
Please follwo the below steps for running forecast for Constant Model :
In MM02 you should maintain the following paramters :
1.MRP1-MRP4 view : MRP Type -VV, Planned delivery Time , Lot Size-EX , Servicelevel Percentage -80-90% , Plannnig Startegey -10/20 as applicable , Procurement Type -F/E/X as apalicable , Period Indicator-M etc .
2.In forcasting view , Please maintain the following :
1.Forecast Model -D (Constant Model) 2.Period Indicator-M (flolows from MRP views) , Histry Period-10 ,Forecast Period -2/3 (How many months u want the system to forecast ) ,Period per sesson -10
In Control Data : Initialisation -X , Model Selection -A , Traking Limit -4 , Reset Automatically -Marked ,Optimisation Level -F
Now , if you enter the smoothing factor : Alpha , beta , Gama and Delta each 0.30 , hit enter , it will re-set Appha 0.1-0.05 and Delta 0.30 because this two is applicable for Cosntant Model
Finally save this and execute Forecasting through single material in MM02-Forecasting View -Exectute Forecast Option or Collectively total forcast thropugh MP38 .Result will be Foercast Qty , basic Values , MAD , Safet stock .

Can anybody help me in understanding the effect of safety period in MRP..

There are plenty of earlier posting on Safety stock and safety periods .
Safety Stock : This is one kind of Un-restricted stock which will be used to full fill the un-expected damand for any material apart from the normal stock .Safety Stock calcuation depends on requireiment .It can be pre-defined ( manual safety stock -MRP3 view-Safety Stock ) or Automatic Safety Stock based on the MRP Type set up in OMDQ.If you want automatic safety stock , then it will calcuated based on Forecasting view parametrs , forcast model , MAD, BASIC value calcualted wheil excuting Forecasting collectively or individually .
Safety Stock Calcualtion happend based on following CONDITION :
1.MRP type should be Forecast Base MRP -VV,VB,VS,V1,V2.Here MRP type calculates the Automatic Safety stock based on the Forcasting View Maintained in MM02 with proper Consumption History .( 261,501 etc update control in MMR through OMJJ set up --Please check MMR Forcasting View -Cosnumption Histry at least 6 months are there or not ?)
2.In MRP Type -SPRO-MRP-Check MRP Type -Select any one of the MRP Type like VV , you will find that Calcualtion of Reo-Order Point and Safety Stock Check Box Ticked .Based this set up and above Forcasting view , safety Stock will be calcualted with certain formaul .Here in the Material Master MRP3 view u need to maintain Service Level Percentage of that Material whcih will be consideredr as Service level factor to calcvualte the Safety Stock automatically based on the MAD and Basic Values calcualtion in Forcating View Individually (MM02) or collectively in MP38 .
Hope this above facts will help you to understand the calcualtrion of Safety Stock .
Formula : Safety Stock = R x Sq.rt. W x MAD
Safety Stock = R x W x MAD

I have enterd the consumption values and run mp30. when i run the marp with md02 system will not generate the planned orders.
please tell me the process how to excute the forcasting.pleage give me the example with settings.

You might have missed to enter mandatory field MRP type in Flat File. Better make a column for MRP type for all materials and proceed.

Copy Forecast values MD70

Hello,
I am trying to run the MD70 - Copy Total Forecast and copy the forcast values. But it is not copying.i have chosed the VV Forecast based planning for the material. also i have checked the configuration settings for MRP type. The Cons. Ind. F'cast is set to G Total consumption.
Even though i could not copy the forecast values.Some one come across this same problem.

Actually in MM02, you execute the forecast for material in Forcasting view., you can see there is an copy history selection. Or you can maintain manually also.
Did executed total forecast using transaction mp38 or MP30?
After executing Forecast , see the forecast values
Then , in MD61 , from the menu choose - Planned indep Reqmts - reference - select the radio button : material forecast
Copy forecast values screen will pop up .
In that , if you want to change the reference values enter the percentage , duration (months) etc...
Now the forecast values will be copied into the table, which you can see.
Then run MRP and proceed as usual.

Authorization to the Item Mater File

I have the need to allow certain users to have change access to specific tabs in the item master.
Is there a way to allow change access to certain tabs in the Item Master file and display only access to others?
I have been told, but have not confirmed, that it is only access to the etire item master file or nothing.

Hi Nick,
You can easily provide the display authorization to all the users.
But you can also provide the change authroization of specific views to specific users.
This can be done by creating screen varients (SHd0).
u can create a screen varient of T-code MM02 for a specific material master view, assign the screen varient t-code, activate it and provide the authorization of this new t-code to a specific user id.
You can also restrict the authorization of T-code MM02 for a particular material master view like
MM02 authroization only for P (P= forcasting view)
For this pl. take help of Basis person.

Few Question : Are you keeping all the material which will be FBP in one MRP Controller or one MRP Area or One Storage Location ? How are you planning to Excute MRP in MD01?
Here what we did is I have create scope of planning where I include different storage location ,plant , MRP area so that various material can be planned through MRP.In your case u can run MRP on plant /sl/mrp area based on requirement in MD01.But not all the material will be under FBP.In this case I have created an User Exit in MD01 where it will plan only those Material which are having MRP Type-Fore Cast Base MRP irrespective of MRP Controller ,SL ,MRP Area ,Plant
How to execute Forecast :-
1.If you are looking for Individual Forecast for any material , u have to go though MM02 , select the Forcasting View hit on the Execute Forecast and save.It will based on the Consumption Histroy , Forecasting Model , Smmothing factor , Initialization Factors, Period forecast .It will calcualte the forcasting for the stipulated period and safety stock will be calculated based on service level percenrage in MRP3 view .In case of total forecast , you can do it through MP38 :
1.Enter Plant Code
2.Copy the material which one u want to execute forcast in case if you want to shorten ur time .
3.Period Indicator -M
4.Forecast Execution : A
3.Tick on the SAVE/Log Record and execute .
It will show you how many materials forcasted with quanty , safety stock and forcast realted parametrs in each n every material .How many are failed due to no cunsumption valus with red alarm.
2.Copy Forcast to Planning Table : MD70 .Enter Plant , Material ,Period To/From for copying the monthly forecast ,Requirement Type : VFB -check in your case , Version :00 .Give a Requirement plan Number .Tick on Req active ,History ,No Data Base Change , Detail List .Finally execute .
3.check the same in MD62 -Change Planning Table with that Req Plan Number not by material /product group.
4.Run MRP on MD01 based on your requirement as I have shared with u above.

Can anybody guide me to get past consumption quantities and values in SAP. I want to supply that data to forcasting view of that material in the upgraded SAP version. What are the standard reports/ tables available to get that data. I have seen table MVER. How to period wise get data from that.

How about T Code MB51 - material documents , where you can get the list for all types of
consumption's like 261,201.
Check whether these reports can help you,

MCPK                 Operation analysis: Quantities
MCPO                 Material analysis: Quantities
check these tables,
MKPF                           Header: Material Document

In table MVER , you select the value M in the periodic indicator and check it.
The same values you can check in it's material master>click on additonal data-->select the tab key
for consumption.
