Force AOL webmail to launch when mailto link clicked

Is there anyway to tell Safari to use AOL webmail when mailto links are clicked? The problem is IMAP doesn't work reliably on my wife's Mail.app for AOL, and she wants to be able to click on mailto links and send messages directly from AOL without having to go back and forth between webmail on Safari and Mail. She has a free AOL e-mail account.

  • How can I force Firefox to override javascript when opening links with ctrl+click?

There are certain sites that always open up a link in the active window despite said links being opened by ctrl+clicking it. Basically what happens is that a java script on the site forces the active window to load the link while at the same time Firefox follows the ctrl+click command and loads it in a new tab. You end up with two tabs with the same information and always have to go back in your original tab to be able to open other links.
Usually you can open the link the way you want by right-clicking and selecting 'Open Link in New Tab' but for some reason ctrl+click is treated as if it was a regular click. How can I stop this from happening and force Firefox to ONLY load the new tab?
This problem is not specific to the version of Firefox I'm using or the operating system, but seems to be caused by java script on the site. Disabling java scripts makes the problem go away but sometimes it also disables the sites.

If you're trying to protect your browser from hackers, I'd recommend setting up a master password for your saved passwords. Other than that, your anti-virus and firewall are responsible for keeping your computer safe.
If you're trying to protect your browser from someone else (i.e. somebody who can physically use the computer) just lock your entire computer with a password. If someone else has to use it, you could try letting them use the guest account.

  • Preview doesn't launch when I double-click a previewed photo in finder

Just noticed today that when I preview a photo in the finder by clicking on the spacebar, I'm unable to double click it so that it launches in the Preview application. I don't remember fiddling with anything before this, and it was okay several weeks ago. Any ideas?

I retract this question. I tried again and it seems to work fine now. Wonder what happened.

  • Why does Firefox no longer launch when I double-click the icon?

I found an article on the support site that suggested creating a new profile, but the run command did not launch profile manager. I tried uninstall/reinstall, but it does not change behavior. When I click the icon, I get the hourglass for a moment, and then nothing. I'm on WinXP. On 10-14-11, I thought I saw a pop-up menu saying Firefox was updating (I did not initiate it, nor was I presented with a confirm pop-up), but it was very brief, so I'm not sure. After that day, Firefox would no longer launch. I've not made any system changes, or installed any programs.

  • Audio stops when external link clicked on?

    Hi
I have a V/O audio file which read out eveything which is shown on a slide. Some of my slides have external links to either websites or PDF downloads and if they are clicked on while the audio is still going it will stop. Is there anyway of the user to still be able to click on external links and have the audio still play?
    I am using Captivate 5.5.
    Cheers

    Hi There,
    Welcome To Adobe Forum.
Can you please try the following steps to see if that work for you.
1     Insert the video/audio file that you have on the slide
    2.    Then insert a button to the slide using which you can open a link or a file externally.
    3.    Now on the button "Action" properties use the "open URL or file" option and then check the box "Continue playing the project" as shown in the image below:
    4. Now publish the file and play it.
    Thanks
    Loveesh

  • Launch Lotus Notes on MailTo links

    Hello all,
On Windows 7 SP1 workstations we have Office 2010 installed.  Some users are still on Lotus Notes and have not yet been migrated to Outlook/Exchange.  We are deploying Lotus Notes on these workstations via App-V however.  For those users who
have not yet migrated to Outlook when they click on a MailTo link it opens Outlook and asks to begin setting up a profile.  The desired behavior we would like to see for these users is for App-V Lotus Notes to launch.  We've tried implementing two
registry keys to resolve this, but Outlook is still launching.  Is there any ability to get App-V Lotus Notes to launch when a user clicks a MailTo link?
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto\shell\open\command]
    @="\"C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Application Virtualization Client\\sfttray.exe\" /launch \"Lotus Notes 8.5 8.5.24.11323\" -defini \"%1\""
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Notes]
    @="URL:Notes Protocol"
    "URL Protocol"=""
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Notes\shell]
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Notes\shell\open]
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Notes\shell\open\command]
    @="\"C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Application Virtualization Client\\sfttray.exe\" /launch \"Lotus Notes 8.5 8.5.24.11323\" -defini \"%1\""

You need Lotus Notes to be an Application Client (Under "Default Programs".) Like Nicke said, that's not actually supported until App-V 5 for applications outside of Office. Your registry entries would work once Lotus Notes got registered as your default
MAPI profile. The problem is getting them registered under first launch.

  • AOL Webmail and Safari on 10.4.2 crashes on delete mail

When I access my AOL account through www.aol.com, and then read mail, Safari crashes when I try to delete mail.
This happens when I select items by putting a checkbox in them, and then pressing the delete key. Then Safari quits, asks me if I want to send it to support, which I do, and then I have to restart safari and AOL. It does not seem to happen if I open each one individually, and it doesn't happen the first time I go in, it's usually on the second batch of "deletes."
This began happening after the last update to my mac. It does not happen on AOL using other computers. A friend told me it doesn't happen to her on Netscape, only on Safari. I did the update to my system on 1/15.

    Deleting AOL Mail, crashes Safari/Consolidated
It seems the most recent Safari, and or 10.4.4, update has created this problem.
Apple & AOL are both aware of this, but, as far as I know, no correction has been implemented.
Here are some of the work arounds, that I have been able to discern from the various posts regarding this issue.
If I have missed anything, please correct, and or add.
    Use the FIREFOX BROWSER.
    Use your AOL Mail program.
Use this utility AOL SERVICES UTILITY, to set up Apple Mail, to access AOL Mail.
Access the AOL Mail thru Classic AOL Webmail.
And here are links, to the various threads, discussing this issue.

  • After upgrading to AVG 2011 Free, AOL webmail will not display a print page

This PC is running XP MCE SP3. I upgraded from AVG 9 free to AVG 2011 Free. When I use AOL webmail, everything works EXCEPT if I click on the print icon, the printable mail window that opens has only a horizontal bar.
Webmail remains working with MSIE. I suspect it is a AVG 2011 problem (many posts reference JUNO and other mail clients totally misbehaving), but I thought I would post it here as well.

  • Default size of new browser window launched from community links portlet

Does anyone know of a way to control the size of the new browser window that is launched when the user clicks a link in a Community Links portlet (or any other links that launch a new browser window)?
We default all users to open links in a new browser window and I can't seem to find any rhyme or reason to how it sizes the resulting window. Some community links come out really skinny and un-user friendly, while others are nicely sized to near full screen.
Is there some way to control this?
    Thank you.
    Darla

    Darla,
Which version of the portal are you guys running? We are currently using 6.5 and all the links/Documents/ExternalLinks/Pages open up in a new browser window with the same sizes.
    Its basically controlled by javascript.

  • How can I force mailto: links to open my webmail client in a new tab?

I have configured Firefox 5 to use my Hotmail account as the default client when clicking 'mailto:' links. I would like to know if it is possible to have my webmail client open in a new tab by default when composing a message, so as not to navigate away from the page I was viewing.

Open a new tab. In the address bar type; '''''About:Config''''' and press
enter. If you get a page that warns you about continuing, press the
'''''I will be careful''''' button. In the search bar, type; '''''Newtab'''''.
Look for; '''''Browser.newtab.url'''''. Right click and select '''''Modify'''''.
Type; '''''About:home''''' (or what ever page you want) and press
    enter. That should do it.

  • When I click on a mailto: link, Thunderbird says it's already running but there is no Thunderbird process running.

I opened Firefox on a freshly rebooted PC, went to click on a mailto: link in a webpage and get the error message that Thunderbird is already running. Thunderbird is not running, but will not open for sending email.
The cause could have something to do with Firefox not opening Thunderbird correctly, or that Thunderbird is not getting the correct permissions to run properly when called by Firefox.
When I start Thunderbird from it's icon, I get a Windows 7 prompt asking me if I want to allow this program to make changes on my computer. If Thunderbird is started by Firefox asking it to create a mail message, as is the case with a mailto: link, It never gets this permission requester.
I have tried troubleshooting information regarding Thunderbird already running error messages, however, there are no .lock files associated with Thunderbird nor is it's ability to send/receive mail when run from it's own icon affected by this problem. I therefore think it's a problem with the way in which Firefox calls Thunderbird to create an email message.
There is the additional problem that Thunderbird has to have administrative privileges to run, but doesn't automatically get them. This might require a separate bug report submission be generated to the Thunderbird developers to fix this problem, but is dependent on what they can do about that.

The reason firefox is not able to launch thunderbirds is because it cannot start thunderbird as administrator unless firefox is running as administrator, try to start firefox as administrator user then click the link.
    It should work.
To start a program as '''administrator on windows''', '''RIght Click''' on the iFF con and choose '''Run as Administrator''', then press yes when the user access control box pops.

  • Firefox won't launch Zimbra Desktop for mailto links

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit Core 2 Duo
    Running Firefox 26.
Installed Zimbra Desktop Email client, when I click mailto links it only offers Yahoo and Gmail.
In IE and other programs Zimbra launches when I use email features of those programs.
Zimbra is set to default email client.
Also strangely enought the download button in the top right doesn't work, I can see downloads but when I click the button nothing.

Usually Firefox will discover your default email client through the registry and offer that one prominently.
Sometimes the file that stores file associations becomes corrupted with conflicting entries and no longer updates correctly. The workaround is simply to rename the file and have Firefox regenerate it. If you'd like to try that, here's what you do.
Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using
Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
Leaving that window open, wwitch back to Firefox and Exit
Pause while Firefox finishes its cleanup, then rename '''mimeTypes.rdf''' to something like mimeTypes.old
Restart Firefox. Hopefully now Zimbra will be detected and you can select it. Please note that if you previously changed your setting for PDFs from the built-in viewer to another one, you will need to change that again.
