Force BB To Remain In Stby

Is there any way to keep my BB device in standby after removing it from the holder ?  I press the mute button placing it into standby, but as soon as I pull it out of the holster it comes out of standby.
Solved!
Go to Solution.

The purpose of the holster is to put the phone in standby when you insert the phone into it and pull it out of standby when you remove it (I assume it is designed this way because it expects that you want to use it when pulling out of the holster). There is no way to get around this unfortunately for you. The good news is that there is a software you can purchase called Autostandby. It puts the phone in standby for people who don't use the holster (such as myself). It can be made to activate standby X seconds after the screen turns off. It still disables the standby when you receive phone calls and it doesn't affect your notification settings so you will receive alerts as usual
Hope that helps you!
Cheers,
Kijana

  • Can I force video to remain vertical as I edit?

So, I am doing a couple of iPhone screencast tutorials, and since most of the audience will actually just watch this on their iPhone, I wanted to leave the video vertical as-is and simply add in some audio on top, which I've got all set in iMovie for iOS.  The only problem is it automatically reduces the size greatly to force the rotation.  Normally, for any video watching on a screen I know that makes sense but in this case I actually do want to keep the video vertical.  Is it possible to force iMovie to do this somehow?  Thanks for any tips.

Figured out a workaround, just have to rotate in crop view in iMovie so it looks sideways there.  Then, after exporting out I re-open it in Quicktime, rotate it there back upright and export it one last time.  Voila, sidebars gone and vertical video intact.  Makes for a bigger file size but it works.

  • Force app to remain in front of others?

I often have BBC News 24 playing in RealPlayer on my 15" MacBook Pro , but if I want to work in another window like Safari, Filemaker or any other app that needs most of the screen to itself, the RealPlayer window obviously becomes hidden.
Are there any commands (plist or console) that can be run to temporarily hold a specified window in front of all other apps? Or a third party tool which can enable this? This way I could leave it in a lower corner of the screen where it doesn't interfere too much with the app i want to work in and remains constantly visible.
    Many thanks
    Mark

Finally, Unsanity has begun to release Leopard compatible beta versions of several products, including Fruit Menu and Window Shade. I, for one, am very happy to see these releases. Fruit Menu works well. Haven't experienced any bugs so far.
Window Shade will have to wait a few days until I'm sure FM is stable.

  • Can I force Quicktime to remain in fullscreen when it's out of focus

    Hey,
I've got a bit of a question. I recently got hold of a new LCD and hooked it up as my secondary display, and among other things, I like to keep work on one screen and video on the other. Trouble is, any time Quicktime loses focus, it drops back to windowed mode. Is there any way to lock it in fullscreen mode when it's out of focus and I'm typing and/or clicking around on the other display? Alternatively, can it be done with VLC? And one last thing just in case someone knows, can you lock a Hulu player in fullscreen?
Thanks in advance if you read this, I appreciate your time.

I'm getting an error which is forcing the java console to close without giving me a chance to view what the error is. Is it possible to somehow force it to remain open?

    check out the trace
    C:\Documents and Settings\your user\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\log\plugin...log
If that doesn't say enough you can try to activate a full plugin trace:
To turn the full trace on (windows) you can start the java console, to be found here:
    C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4...\bin\jpicpl32.exe
In the advanced tab you can fill in something for runtime parameters fill in this:

  • I need to send this email now!

My story starts wih me trying to scan a picture from the printer to my computer. The printer scans: Photo to email. After ten minutes a new message window pops up with the scanned picture in it. I tried to copy it and paste it into my other email so that I could send it from there and thats when I started having problems. The computer started freezing up with the rainbow swirl. I tried to just send it from the origanal pop up email window, although it kept buffering and wouldn't let me send it. After at least 9 hours now I still can't send it! My computer is not buffering as much after I restarted it, but it still won't send the email with the picture! The email is in is in my outbox and each time I try to send it it just ends up in my outbox again! I've tried this multiple times already! I tried to just send an email to my iPod that just says: "Hi." ,but that won't work either! I need to send the email by the end of today because the contest ends today! It is for an art contest! Please help! I am only thirteen so if you try to explain and help me please don't try to use complicated words!
    Thank you so much!

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
This will take a while to read.
    A very VERY long while.
That's good, because in the meantime, your computer MIGHT fix itself and the email MIGHT send successfully.
I know, I know you have this contest deadline...
    I. First things first.
If there is an adult (parent, grandparent, teacher, nanny, caregiver, or college student) nearby, ask them for help.
    Now.
Even if they CLAIM to know nothing about computers.
They probably know a little SOMETHING about computers.
    That might even be helpful.
    Ask them.
    Now.
II. Second, IF POSSIBLE print this whole message thread before continuing.
    Now.
    WHY?
At some point you're probably going to turn your computer off, or at least quit the Safari browser app, (the one you're using right now to read this information), and then you won't be able to read these instructions to know what to do next until you turn the computer back on and re-open the Safari browser and return to Apple Support Communities and find this message again.
If it doesn't print, don't panic.
If there is another computer or iPad or iPod touch or iPhone or other smartphone nearby, locate this message thread Apple Support Communities in the browser: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4165033?tstart=0
If not, don't panic. You will probably be able to print later.
III. So what is the problem?
    A. The 'rainbow swirl' as you call it (I call it a 'beachball'), most often happens when the computer gets really REALLY low on free RAM memory. RAM is the electronic memory chips located inside your computer. Those computer chips lose all their information when the computer power is turned off, IF the information isn't saved onto the hard disk first.
To make more RAM memory available the first thing is to quit any other running apps that you don't need right now in your system Dock at the bottom of the screen.
For example, if you have iChat or iMessage running, and Mail, and iTunes, and Safari, and iPhoto and your printer/scanner app, all you really need in order to scan and send your picture is your printer/scanner app, and Mail. So you can 'quit' all the other apps running.
Command+click-ing (also known as 'right-clicking' if that option is enabled on your mouse or trackpad) on the running App icon in the dock will bring up the option to Quit.
If the app is open on your screen, Command+Q will 'Quit' any app. If the app asks if you want to save unsaved information, choose 'Yes' to be certain that you're not deleting important information.
If an app is 'stuck' (spinning rainbow swirly thing), the option MIGHT be available to 'Force Quit'.
Quit all the other apps you don't need first.
Do NOT Force Quit any apps just yet.
    B. It's possible that you are (also) very VERY short of hard disk space. That's the mechanical drive inside your computer that stores your Apps and your music and your pictures and emails and lots of other 'computer stuff' important to how your computer runs, magnetically, so you can bring it back later. It is where your apps are stored and your 'stuff' is saved.
You think you MIGHT be able to erase some files to make more space available, but that's very VERY risky if you don't know what you're doing, so I don't recommend THAT.
First, see how much free hard disk space you DO have available. Open Finder (the 'face' icon probably located in the system Dock at the lower left corner of your screen, and click on your hard disk drive name in the upper left column. (It's probably called 'Macintosh HD')
At the very bottom of the Finder window there should be two numbers, one showing some number of items (not important) and another number showing how much hard disk space is available (important!):
If you have less that 15.00 GB available, you are very short of hard disk space.
That makes your system run slow or very slow, and can cause 'rainbow swirls' even if everything else is working correctly. We cannot do much about that right now if you're almost out of hard disk space.
You will need some adult help to decide what could be erased to make more space available.
If you share the computer with a parent or sibling, it's very risky to start deleting stuff.
    So don't delete anything now.
    C. It's possible that the file size of your scan exceeds the allowable maximum file size your email account can handle and has things all jammed up. On Hotmail.com, for example, the upper limit is 2.0MB (megabytes). Apple Mail (iCloud, .me or .mac) seem not to have that limitation.
You said it took '10 minutes' to scan your picture. That sounds like your picture is scanned at a very VERY high resolution: 1200 or 2400 or 4800 or even 9600 dpi (dots per inch).
That's great for working at home and for retouching photographs and for professional artists, but most likely, it is much MUCH too large to email to your contest.
300dpi is probably a good maximum number for email. Check the contest instructions. They might want some other smaller number like 72dpi (internet web images) or 96dpi (Windows on-screen displays)
A high dpi number means the scanned image takes up a LOT of space in RAM memory and when stored on your hard disk.
That also means that it would take a very VERY long time to send that scanned file in email, although 9 hours is probably way WAY longer than it should take.
    D. READ THIS ONLY IF YOU ARE USING A "DIAL-UP TELEPHONE MODEM" to connect to the Internet.
(Your adult should be able to help you determine this):
A dial-up connection typically sends and receives information at up to 56Kbits per second.
Most people have something faster today.
On my DSL internet account (pardon a bit of technical jargon, it's 3.0Mbit downloading (me downloading a music file from iTunes) and 512Kbit uploading (me sending a picture via email), sending one 2.0MB file can take 5 to 15 minutes. Sending the same 2.0GB file on a 56Kbps dial-up modem could easily take almost 10 times longer, or 50 minutes, up to maybe 2.5 hours. But that's still nowhere close to 9 hours.
IV. OK. Got it. But my computer is still sitting there with spinning rainbow swirlies, and I have this contest deadline quickly approaching...
What do I do to SOLVE this problem and get my picture emailed today???
    A. You've 'Quit' every unnecessary application?
The only ones left should be the printer/scanner app, and Mail.
Sometimes, that frees enough memory for things to begin working 'normally' again.
So,while reading all of this, has your spinning rainbow swirly stopped and the computer returned to somewhat 'normal' function?
YES - Check your Mail, Sent folder to see that your message finally got sent.
Is your message with the picture in there?
YES - Great. Problem solved. Have a great day. And next time, don't wait until the last minute to submit contest entries!
NO? Check Mail, Outbox folder (Outbox is only visible and has a number showing IF there is something in the process of being sent, but not completed yet.)
    Is it in the Outbox?
YES - It could be 'stuck'. You'll probably have to Force Quit the Mail program. That still MIGHT NOT clear your 'stuck' email with the email provider program though.
    B. Were you able to Force Quit all remaining programs?
YES - Great. Now it's time to click , Restart.
That will clear memory and reset things to get ready to try again.
NO - If Force Quit doesn't work, then it's time for more drastic action:
    C. It's time turn the computer OFF.
    Why?
Because there's likely other no way available to you to 'fix' what's still 'stuck'.
WARNING: Turning the computer OFF shuts down EVERYTHING, and throws away ALL unsaved information in all apps that are still running but 'stuck'.
    THAT DOES SOUND DRASTIC!!!
It is. But you have this contest deadline...
    D. If the adult you have nearby is NOT comfortable with you doing this, then STOP!!!
You're going to miss your contest deadline.
It isn't the end of the world.
    You're thirteen.
There will be other contests and other opportunities.
You're done until someone who IS comfortable helping you is there with you.
    Sorry.
    E. With your Adult's permission to turn off the computer, and with them standing or sitting next to you, hold down the computer power button for up to 10 seconds, until the computer screen goes black and the computer shuts off completely.
    WHEW!
    Take a deep breath.
Tell your adult to start breathing again, too.
(Blue adults passed out on the floor from a lack of oxygen aren't nearly as helpful as breathing ones.)
    V. OK. Now what? I still have this contest deadline and now I have XX minutes less because I've been following your long drawn-out instructions.
    HELP!
    A. Turn the computer back on.
    B. Wait for everything to come back up, and then log back in as you usually do.
    C. If you have a lot of programs set to start automatically, like iMessage or FaceTime or iChat or Safari or Mail...
Use Command+Q to 'Quit' all of them NOW.
    Why?
They all take available memory from the two programs you probably REALLY need at this point:
    1. Your printer/scanner and
    2. Mail, and
    3. maybe Safari, if you need to refer to these instructions again. Now you should be able to PRINT them, if you couldn't do that before
If Safari normally opens with a WHOLE BUNCH (3 or more) of Tabs opening things like Twitter and Facebook and Instagram and Google and...
Close EVERY open Safari tab except 1.
    D. Next, check to see if your printer/scanner app has saved your previous scan.
I can't tell you how to do this, because I don't know what software you're running. Sorry.
    E. If you KNOW the filename**, locate your saved scanned image and open it using Preview and refer to the ADDENDUM below
    F. If you DON'T KNOW the filename, try re-opening the printer/scanner app.
    G. If you CAN'T FIND the file in three minutes or less, it's probably quicker to re-scan your picture than to spend more minutes looking for the last scan.
    H. Use your printer/scanner software to scan the file AT 300 dpi
    AND
    I. SAVE THE FILE TO YOUR DESKTOP, because it's MUCH easier and MUCH FASTER to find a new scan at the right resolution saved to your desktop than to 'fix' some huge image saved at the wrong resolution* in some file directory called My Computer/My Documents/My Printer/My Scanner/My Scanner App/2012/Aug/1/jpg/miscellaneous/Image_2952.png
    J. Don't let the scanner program TRY to automatically send it via email again.
    Do it yourself:
    K. Open Mail (assuming it's all set up). If not, open Safari, and navigate to your email site like Yahoo, Hotmail, GMail...)
    L. Select New Message or equivalent
    M. Enter the email address you're sending your contest entry to.
    N. Enter the Subject name the contest rules tell you to use.
    O. Enter all the information you're required to submit for the contest.
    P. NOW, attach the scanned image you just saved
    Q. You saved the scan to the Desktop.
    W. You might need to click Desktop icon in the left column to get the list.
    X. Click on your image filename and click the blue Choose File button to attach it.
    Y. Double-check everything to be certain you've included all the needed information AND your scanned picture.
    Z. Click 'Send'
Check to be sure the message goes. On my MacBook, I hear the 'jet flyover' sound when mail goes out successfully.
    You can start breathing again.
(And nearby your Adult helper can too.)
    You're welcome!
    ADDENDUM:
** THE "YES, I DO KNOW THE FILENAME AND DID FIND THE FILE AND OPENED IT WITH Preview..." instructions
THIS is how to 'FIX' your huge picture file scan so it will be smaller, and send faster, and not get 'stuck' because your email account cannot handle a huge file, so 'OK, I'M REALLY DESPERATE HERE', BUT LIKELY TO CAUSE A LOWER-QUALITY IMAGE:
    A. Find the scanned filename in Finder.
    B. Double click on the filename.
    C. That should automatically open the file in Preview.
    D. Select Tools, Adjust Size.
    E. Scroll down to the bottom of the menu and select the Fit Into to largest size image available.
On my computer it is 1920 x 1280 pixels.
    F. Now set the Resolution to 300 dpi.
You'll have to type in the numbers.
    G. At the bottom left of the Resulting Size box, you should see two numbers, the 'was   MB' (original scan file size to the right), and the new   KB to the left, in both pixels and KB/MB.
    H. Your goal is to adjust the size to make the new resulting file size listed at the bottom left about 1.0MB or LESS. In my example, I reduced a 5.7MB photograph to 615KB (nearly a 90% reduction in file size, but with some loss of image quality).
    I. Then, click the OK button to make the change.
    J. Now in the top menubar, click File, Save As. That saves your changes, but still keeps the original file unchanged, so you can go back to it and try resizing it again without scanning it again, if you don't like the results.
    K. Now another screen pops up, asking you the name of the file
    L. Add 'resized' to the name of your file, so you know which one is the original and which has been changed.
    M. Notice that there is a slider labeled Quality.  Right now, it is probably about 3/4 of the way to the right.
Sliding it all the way to the right will increase quality AND increase the file size.
    N. Try moving the slider to the right, and release it to see the change in file size.
    O. Remember, our ultimate goal is a modified scan file SMALLER THAN 2.0MB.
    P. When you're satisifed with the file size and the quality slider, click the blue Save button.
    Q. Now, try emailing the 'filename'-resized image you just saved.

  • 3G iPod - no more "OK to disconnect" screens, a Firewire problem

I have an old 3G iPod - 15GB with the 4 touch buttons - that still works fine. This is a model that can sync via USB or Firewire, but can only get power from Firewire.
For the first couple of years it synced with a Win2000 machine just fine via Firewire. When syncing was done, the iPod would sit and display a "OK to Disconnect" message. If I elected to sync again, it would just wakeup and sync.
I have moved to a new iMac C2D and I am very happy with the machine in general. However, the iPod is not quite the same.
I decided to restore the iPod and thus use Macintosh formatting - no problem, it works fine. However, now when I sync I never see the "OK to Disconnect" message - instead, once the sync is complete the iPod just unmounts and charges as if it were being powered by the AC adaptor.
That is fine but for one thing - if I wait a couple of minutes, the iPod goes to sleep while charging (like when using the AC adaptor) and the whole Firewire bus seems to take a snooze with it! Once that happens, reconnecting the iPod does nothing and I cannot mount any of my external Firewire hard drives. The only solution is to restart the iMac, and everything is OK again.
My workaround has been to set the iPod to "Enable Disk usage", which forces it to remain mounted and awake. However, it is not supposed to work this way. Any clues??
P.S. - I just tried plugging the iPod into a G4 iBook, and while the Firewire bus does not fail the "OK to Disconnect" screen still does not appear. Hmmm..

Your iPod is probably in hard disk mode. In iTunes, while your Ipod is connected, right click on the iPod and go to options. Make sure that the box next to 'enable disk use' is UNCHECKED. That should fix the problem. Let me know if this works for you.

  • Adobe on Leopard, refuses to boot from disc, disaster?

After buying Adobe CS3 Web Premium, I found out I couldn't install it because my drive was formatted as case-sensitive. So, I was forced to backup all my important data and re-initialize. I zeroed the drive, but told it to skip zeroing just before it was done with the last little sliver in the progress bar.
So, I get all the whole system updated. Install Aperture, Thunderbird, Firefox... everything is going great. Then get the updates for Aperture, everything works flawlessly. I had never seen it run so well. Then I finally install CS3 and the install process seems to go without a hitch.
So, I've got CS3 on there, but I want to do some stuff with Aperture before I get into it. I'm working with Aperture and everything is going great. Good performance, really speedy. Then, I decide to open Illustrator CS3. To my horror, Aperture starts to go completely wrong. It gets to the point where I can't use it for longer than 30 seconds without having it crash. So, I quit Illustrator and the problem persists. Finally, I decide to restart the machine, Aperture seems to have fixed itself with restart, everything seems to be alright, for now.
Hmm, I think, maybe the CS3 needs to be updated. Yes, it did, 524 MB of updates. The installer downloads it all, starts the updating process and hangs silently (liquid in the progress bar still flowing). I get no notification except in Activity Monitor, where launchd and another process (I forget which) are going crazy with the CPU. I force-quit the updater from Activity Monitor, reopen it, press the install button again. It doesn't do anything, so I found out I actually have to say "Delete All" as in, delete all the downloaded updates. Then the updater quits itself and I have to reopen it and redownload and install whatever the installer thinks didn't get updated. I had to force quit, delete all, redownload, and install about 5 times before it said it was through.
Oh man, that was bad. Now the whole machine is pretty much a sluggish mess. Naturally, I thought, "I'll run Disk Warrior." I had run it with an earlier version of Leopard before, so I expected it to work. Insert Disk Warrior, Restart, hold C key, disc spins for a second and ejects itself. System ignores my command and boots from hard drive.
But everything loads and things seem alright, so I think, "oh well, I guess everything is alright." I do some work in Illustrator, everything seems good. Listening to music, but not working in Aperture. The machine works great for about 2 days. Then, I decided I want to install Final Cut - I put in the Install DVD, it spins for a second and spins back down, nothing happens. No desktop icon, no optical drive showing up in Disk Utility, Eject button on keyboard doesn't work, iTunes - control > Eject Disc, now my iTunes is hung. I try to force quit, nothing happens. Force quit dialog, iTunes is listed as if it hasn't crashed, click force quit, it remains in the list. iTunes icon remains in the dock, arrow still below, but does nothing when I click it and won't poof. iTunes doesn't show up in Activity Monitor.
Okay, "definitely gonna try Disk Warrior again," I think to myself. Restart, reset PRAM twice, hold option to boot select screen, press eject to remove FCE disc, insert Disk Warrior, Disk Warrior icon shows up on screen, click it, click the arrow to boot to it. Wait a second - BSOD, no cursor! Disc spins for a while and stops. Press any key, it spins back up again and eventually dies down again, doing nothing. Forced shutdown holding power button, press power again, hold the C key to boot to disc. Disk Warrior spins up again and spits itself out, just as before. System boots to hard drive instead.
What am I doing wrong? The Mac Pros at school run Leopard and CS3 and they seem to be flawless. Am I the only one having these problems? I can't figure out if this is hardware or software. I'm currently creating an image of the Disk Warrior disc. I plan to restore it to my hard drive's second partition and see what happens. I'll let you know what happens. Until then, can anybody give me any hints on what might be wrong with my system or at least give me some sympathy? LOL. This is beyond frustrating.
I'd had my system ignore what seemed like successful insertion of optical discs and refuse to eject them before the fresh install, but I've never had it refuse to boot from a bootable disc like this. Any ideas?

Excuse me, it seems there is some data in the CrashReporter log for VersionCueCS3. I had forgotten to remove my search filter keyword.
This is a copy of the top section (which seems like it might be the most significant). If you want to see the rest, I'll gladly post it as well:

  • Setting Frames for a graphic symbol

I'm working on an animation, and I'm using a graphic symbol
with 5 frames of slightly different poses.
Whenever I try to change frames on the main timeline, Flash
will not allow a change. For instance, if I try to change a single
frame from 3 to 1, Flash forces it to remain at 1.
    What am I doing wrong?

somewhere on this layer you have used a motion tween - select
the keyframe(s) that have a motion
tween applied and deselect the Sync option (Properties
    panel).

  • Monitor Extents

today during peak transaction hour our production server started logging errors we have searched for the errors here and there ( in application log, business logic error log ) but ultimately we found error in alert log:
    ORA-1631: max # extents 512 reached in table BDADM.TXN_TABLE
how can i monitor the extents of a table
i am running 8.1.7 on AIX server.

The number of extents is completely irrelevant to the application.
So is your assertion you can not change it without permission.
If the 'software vendor' forbids you to change it, this is a clear sign they are no masters in software development, but did get a degree in
    Cover your *ss management.
It is not a major change.
There is a plethora of scripts floating around selecting objects where the number of extents is nearing maxextents. The number of extents and the number of maxextents is an attribute of dba_segments.
Also my comment on using OEM still stands. Apparently you didn't read that.
Apart from that: a software vendor not wanting you to make any change, showing their incompetency, and forcing you to remain on a version for which Oracle provides no support, should be dumped.

  • Hidden submenus show as page is loading

I have a test site with hidden menus that I used the 'show/hide/ behaviour to make them appear on mouseover and disappear on mouseout. They work perfectly, but when the pages load, they appear off to the side and this has confused the client.
Any idea how I can force them to remain hidden until they are called by the mouseover?

    thanks in advance

    hi Murray,
I do appreciate you always being there for my web problems, it's wonderful to have help to hand at times like this.
Yeah - the client insists on us using huge files for the page contents (so they can change the contents by uploading a replacement image). I couldn't talk them into any of the solutions I have for easily editing text on a site....*sigh*.
I don't notice the sub-menu load problem when I use a fast internet connection, but on a slower one I do....for example when I'm using FTP to upload/download and try to open the page after emptying the cache, it is noticeable.
I use the pviii snap layers as it's the only way I know to make the layers appear in the correct place - especially when the menu positioning is fliud - it changes depending on the width of your browser window.
If you have a more elegant submenu positioning solution, I'd love to use it!

  • Wrong brightness after I wake up my MBP

    hello,
my MBP 2.4 looses it's brightness settings when it goes to sleep. When waked up, brightness is ALWAYS two bars below maximum. Any ideas what's wrong?
    regards,
    R.Sklodowski

So, I've done some testing and it seems pretty random to me:) At least I've figured out, that if I select "automatically adjust for ambient light changes", in the evenings brightness is OK for me But I still can't force brightess to remain the same all the time (no matter what I do with display/energy options).
Have you got rid of this problem?

  • How can gloal vairables can be shared in subvi?

I have a question about global variables. no found answer in Forum.
i want to share some global variables in different subvi: Starting first subvi from main,
and set variables, then in second vi, use these variables.
In my test, if i run it from labview , everything is ok. If build  an exe file, the first subvi
cannot be exited. If exit, the value of global variabels are cleared.  I don't know why?
Can i use like this? please help me.
    Thanks.
attached my main app. For subvi exit, just call FP.Close.
    Solved!

    Main.vi ‏22 KB

The way I underrstand the problem:
There is a main VI (main.vi) which successively runs two different VIs via a VI reference.
Let's call them A.vi and B.vi. Both access the same global variable.
The main VI does not know about the global variable.
First A is runs, then quits. Later B runs and is expected to access the global variable with data left by A earlier. I have not explored this, but I guess that once A quits, the global variable also leaves memory, forgetting everything
My suggestion was to place an instance of the global variable in the main VI, forcing it to remain in memory as long as the main VI is running. Apparenlty, this solves the problem.
    mmm2006 wrote:
Should i update global variable in main vi? There are many setting and  I don't want to display them.
I would guess it will be sufficient to place the global variable in the main VI to keep it in memory. There is no need to read it or display it's content. Another solution might be to specify the global variable as "startup VI"? I have not tried this.
These are just speculations, because I virtually never use globals so my experience is limited. I probably would have A.vi write the data to a file which B.vi later can access, for example.

    Thank you,

There had been some kind of third-party control for the iBook/PowerBook G4
that could set the fan speeds outside of the default perimeters; but I do not
know of such a thing would work at all in the iMac G4 computers.
shareware ($5) download "G4FanControl for Mac" enables manual fan control
    on PowerBook, iBook G4: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/25043
Reading the ^ comments does not indicate any user reports from iMac G4 users.
The iMac G4 has minimal sensors, the one I've noticed from using a Temperature
Monitor software in mine, is in the SMART sensor for the hard disk drive. This may
not be sufficient for a fan control software to actively change the basic defaults.
The portable PPC computers toward 2005 had more than one sensor in them,
and the G4 iBook/PowerBooks could use a third-party option. The iMac may not.
Since you need the automatic faster speed to be there, in case of necessity
it would not be suitable install a limit controller to force it to remain slow...
The eMac had even less fan control than the iMac G4, it ran faster all the time.
    There may be another answer.
    Good luck & happy computing!

You didn´t mention it but install mobo drivers first (in this case VIA Hyperion 4in1), then video drivers and try RivaTuner, which allows you to select AGP mode and to force it to remain enabled.
    Luck
