Force Clients to connect to my Mac and "join" my computer list

Hi ARD users,
I am not able to scan our network for ARD clients because the scanning only works in my vlan. But we have a lot of vlans here. I can not reach the Macs in all the other vlans with the scanner. Of course it is possible to get them one after another with their IP- address but I don't know the addresses of all those (few hundred) clients. So after scanning I have only 'round 20 macs there.
So here is my question:
Is it possible to force the clients (e.g. with a script that we could distribute via FileWave, or kickstart or task-server) to connect to MY computer and "jump" into my computer- list?
Just an idea... But any comment would be appreciated, so

I' m not sure what you mean. I see that in the smart lists I will be able to sort/ filter macs that already are in my computer list. There' s an option to search for IP-addresses, but only for macs that are in the list already. I think that you mean I could sort them for the different vlans then. Of course, that would be possible, but doesn' t help with my problem.
To scan ranges across subnets... I don' t see a solution. How do you mean I could do this? We have the vlans from 10.99.1.* to 10.99.150.*. In the scanner I can give a range from 10.99.1.1 to 10.99.1.254 and scan, although MY mac is in 10.99.104.x. But then I have to give the next range: 10.99.2.1 to 10.99.2.254 and so on. For 150 of such nets it' s not very cool. It' s not possible to give an "*" symbol or so, so, are you sure it should be possible?

How do I connect both a Mac and PC to Apple TV Home Sharing?

Goal
- I am trying to share both my PC and Mac through my Apple TV2 on the "Computers" home sharing menu.
- These are 2 seperate iTunes accounts as they are 2 different owners of the PC and Macbook.
- However, home sharing only allows me to have one at a time, can I not have 2 computers connected?
(The menu is in fact plural and says "Computers" not "Computer")
Attempt
-I turn on home sharing on my PC with my PC iTunes account, it then shows up on the "Computers" list as PC
-I turn on home sharing on my Mac with my Mac iTunes account, it then shows up on the "Computers" list as Mac, but it deletes the PC share
Troubleshoot
-So I started from scatch and connected the PC share with my PC itunes account, it shows up,
-Then I connect the Mac home sharing with the same iTunes login as my PC, but it also erases my PC from the "Computers" list and just displays the Mac.
Question
-How do I connect both a Mac and PC to Apple TV Home Sharing?
-I want them both to show up in the "Computers" list.
-So the final result will look like this on my Apple TV menu:
Computers
-PC
-Mac

Becasue this has never been a feature of iphone/ipod/ipad. There is nothing to repair.

Under Network Preferences, select the WiFi
click on "Advanced..." button
Select the network you want to delete from the list and click on "-"
Click "Ok"
Click "Apply"

You may also want to delete the wireless key from Keychain.
Open Keychain, seach for the old wifi network name, slect it and click delete

If the phone shows the "connect to iTunes" screen, the data on the phone is most likely lost.
Connecting in recovery mode is your only chance to use the phone again, besides getting it serviced by Apple.

Using Airport Express as internet connection for one Mac and one PC

Will probably be judged a complete dork for this question. I have successfully set up my Imac G5 to run an internet connection through an Airport express. My partner runs a PC (Windows XP) and I want to connect this too. Have installed a USB wireless card on the PC, and installed Airport Utility, but it just won't find the Airport Express - it will however find the Imac with something like 96% signal strength. So I set up a network on the Mac and have successfully linked into it with the PC, but it soon comes up with a connectivity problem that will not allow internet browsing. So two questions - can I connect two computers to the Airport Express at once for internet browsing, or do I have to do it through linking the PC to a wireless network? If the latter is the route - any ideas on what the connectivity issue will be? Help!

No, not if the AirPort Express "joins" the wireless network.
No, I do not want to join a network.
It is possible to have the AirPort Express "create" a separate wireless network that would not have access to the Internet, but if you did this, you would need to log off of your normal network....(losing your Internet connection) and then log onto the AirPort Express network when you wanted to listen to AirPlay.
Then, when you wanted to have Internet access, you would have to log off of the AirPort Express network and log back onto your normal wireless network.
Ok, I understand that it is not possible to use airport express only for sound streaming while having an Internet connection at the same time. Airport express does need to join a network if I want sound streaming next an Internet connection. I wanted airport express not to get into way of my Internet connection because in this case the sound streaming messes up sometimes. When I configure airport express only as a sound output, the problems I encounter fade away but then I cannot access to the Internet. Anyhow thanks a lot for the answer.

Connect Ipod to Mac and Windows

I started to connect my Ipod to my Windows computer. Now I bought an Imac. I want to connect my Ipod to my mac without loose all the songs I have loaded to my Ipod from my Windows pc.
Is that possible ?

Strictly speaking using a Windows formatted iPod on a Mac isn't supported however many people use one without any issue. iTunes will allow you to use an iPod formatted for Windows on a Mac but Apple currently only supports using the iPod shuffle in FAT32 format on Mac. This means you will have to make sure that any time there is a software update available you do this on a PC. If you updated the software while the iPod was connected to the Mac you would end up erasing and formatting the iPod for Mac.
If you only intend using the iPod on the Mac from now on, you could transfer your songs to the computer and then Restore the iPod on your Mac. Restoring will erase and reformat the hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions and it should connect to iTunes and give you a prompt to automatically update your library onto the fresh installation: Restoring iPod to Factory Settings with iTunes 7
If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers has been introduced with iTunes 7 A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there's a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to your Mac at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
If you prefer something more automated there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others as well, they are generally quite straightforward. TS3989 I am connected to my MAC and am trying to backup photos to I Cloud and it is not responding. My I phone just keeps saying backing up and it just sits there and doesn't sync. Any idea whats wrong?

And offcourse that I delete my files and documents is not an Iweb problem, but because my English is not that good, that I thougt I try to tell the whole story, and hope people can read trough the lines.
Why I didn't use Iweb to upload to the server is because the server company recommanded to use file zilla. And I am a nobody with this kind of things, so I did exactly what they tell me to do.
No, i did not make a backup of Iweb and the domain file, but reading other messages on this forum showed me that I can maybe try to make empty the cashfile (?)
and otherwise I have bad luck and have to make my website again. Offcourse I have a lot of examples from all the pages (copied from the local map to my USB stick) and my website is aprox. 15 Mb, (not so big) so it will cost me a few nigths.
But I'm still hoping on a miracle :-)

How can I use my external hard drive on my mac and a windows computer?

Can anyone help...I have recently purchased a new external hard drive for my macbook pro, it is a 1TB hard drive. I use it for time machine back ups which only takes up about 250gb of space so obviously I have a lot more to use. I'm at University and the computers there are Windows so I'm hoping to be able to drag my uni work to my external HD and connect it to the windows computers at my university so that I have my work there as well - however I'm not sure how I should format my HD???

You will eventually use all of that 1TB external for the Time Machine backups, that is if you do regular Time Machine backups (It is NOT a One Time thing). So using that same external for anything else is not a good idea.
You would be much better off buying a large USB thumb drive, like 64GBs in size, and format that to one of the Windows formates that both Mac OS X and Windows can read from and write to. Those would be FAT32 and exFAT. If you are moving file less than 4GBs in size then format it FAT32. You can then copy files to it from your Mac and Read those files on the Windows PCs the school has and just stick that Thumb drive in your pocket.
