Force iPhone to put newly added contacts under iPhone contact group

I want to be able to have my iphone put a newly added contact under my iphone contacts and not all contacts. Is there a way to force iphone to do this? I am using mobile me, think I remember hearing someone mention a setting in itunes for this. Don't have this option with mobile me.

I agree with Oregon Farmer. All Contacts contain all contacts from every created group (i.e. "iPhone contacts"), so once you add a contact into "iPhone Contacts", the same info is placed in the "All Contacts" group. Sort of like "Music" in library and playlists.
There used to be an option on the iTunes, but from this website, it suggests that option was for the original iPhone http://www.apple.com/mobileme/setup/iphone/mac.html
I was browsing around looking for a way to add a new contact (i.e. from my recent calls list) directly into the "iPhone Contacts", rather than it going automatically only into the "All Contacts" list. If anyone has an idea, I'd appreciate it. I'm also using Mobileme.

Make sure your iMessage is activated. If the other person does not have a good data connection, iMessage will recognize that and fall back to a SMS. What you list the person's phone number as in Contacts does not matter.

Contacts imported from a different email address? Are you referring to a different address book, possibly from your computer? Exchange contacts are not stored on your computer. If you turn off Exchange contacts they will disappear from the phone. The phone will always show contacts that are stored on your phone, and keep them separate from the Exchange contacts like they are now. If you delete the ones on the phone and then turn off or lose access to the Exchange account, you will no longer have any contacts.

Can't put newly purchased songs onto iPhone! Plz help!

My mom just got a new iPhone and we set up iTunes and downloaded the new version like it asked. We set up a new iTunes account and we downloaded some songs to break the new iPhone in, we downloaded them under her id and account. I have an iPod and already use iTunes but i logged out of mine to dl the songs for her. Sooooo.., now, when i try to drag the newly purchased songs to the iPhone or even the library, it won't allow me. My library still shows up in iTunes.....Can someone please help us!

Sorry - that works, but I think you still have to go into the Music tab and click the box to sync music in the first place. Select your iPhone in the left hand list to see these tabs.
Then, you can choose to sync certain playlists to keep the size manageable.
It's not necessary to check the boxes on the music files themselves, or check the box on the front tab that says sync checked items only. That's (as you've found) basically just extra work.

It sounds like Safari has somehow been installed in a user / Applications folder instead of the Macintosh HD / Applications folder where it should be.
Log in as the user that can open Safari, navigate to home / Applications and drag the Safari icon out of there to the Macintosh HD / Applications folder. Then drag it to the Dock and drop it when the other icons move aside for it.
You should now be able to access Safari from all accounts.

Itunes not syncing "newly added playlist" on my iphone 5!

I am running IOS 7.0.4 (11B554a) on my iphone5 16Gb, modem firmware 5.02.00. i have latest iTunes (V. 11.2.2.3).
Well, as usual i add new songs to my iTunes library, which also show up in 'newly added' playlist in iTunes. So over syncing, it should also be visible in my iPhone in the 'newly added' playlist on my phone, BUT it does not appear in the playlist, HOWEVER, the song does sync and appears in the normal songs list. It is annoying... it never occurred to my previous iPhone.

Problems Syncing Playlists & Songs in iTunes with Computer & Apple Devices
I've seen variations of this question on the Apple community boards and I myself have struggled with this for months now and I believe I have a solution, at least for what seems to be one of the problems.
If you have purchased a subscription of iTunes Match, then all of your data is filtered through the glorious cloud. ALL computers and devises involved in syncing data must have iTunes Match enabled for syncing to replicate.
This solved my particular issue within 2.1 seconds.
1) On your computer open iTunes. Go to the menu item 'Store' and click on 'Turn on iTunes Match'.
2) On your iPhone open 'Settings', 'iTunes & App Store', click to turn on 'iTunes Match'.
3) For good measure, restart your computer and iPhone (probably not necessary but I did).
Hopefully that helps if not, I hear Google has some type of phone gadget..

Sync Fail to update iCal and Contacts between iPhone and MacBook

I've recently upgraded my MacBook Pro to OS X Yosemite (10.10.2) and iTunes (12.1.0.50). I am trying to sync my MacBook with my iPhone 5 (iOS 8.2) and iPad mini (iOS 8.2) without iClouds. In iTunes i've selected the All Contacts under Sync Contacts & All Calendars under Sync Calendars. Once again I am not syncing to iClouds but rather manually between the 3 machines. Since I've upgraded, my calendar and contact information is not being synced between the MacBook and iPhone. When executing the sync the process completes cleanly indicating syncing of contacts & calendar was successful. But when checked on iPhone they contacts haven't been updated. Any recommendations?

Simply on the iPhone in the iCloud preferences turn off the contacts sync. It will ask if u wanna delete or not the contacts on the iphone. You answer to leave the Contacts on iphone. After that proceed to delete all contacts from all u're other devices and the iCloud site. A way to do it fast is to deselect the contact sync on icloud options in every device and when asked tell to delete the contacts from device. When u're sure that all other devices contacts are clean turn again on the contacts sync on the iCloud preferences for each device and at last the iPhone. After few the iPhone contacts will be sync to other device so u'll have same Contacts on all device. In this way when u'll made a change on one of u're device all other will have same change.

Apparantly it is, On My Mac contacts don't appear in iCloud, anywhere.
Put all your contacts on all of your devices in iCloud (assuming that's where you want them to be)
Go to www.icloud.com, login and see what you actually have in the account.

Newly added contacts don't appear in my contact list.

I recently upgraded from a iPhone 3GS to a 4S. When I add a new contact on my phone it does not appear in my contact list. If I go to a new text message and type the name it appears as a suggestion and I can select it that way. I'm unable to edit the contact as it does not appear under my contact list. I have synced in through iTunes and even restored it. The numbers still do not show up in the contact list. I've also attempted to log into iCloud and the names do not appear there either. I've turned the contacts off under the iCloud settings and nothing changed. I still cannot see my newly added contacts in my contact list. Please help as I have tried everything I know and have no luck. It alsmot feels as though my numbers are being added to a "hidden" place. Thanks in advance!

I've never done a sync with any program other than iTunes and iCloud. My groups are displayed in the left corner and they are all selected (I acutally just made up the groups today while messing with this whole issue so there aren't even contacts added to groups yet) and showing.

A newly added contact suddenly disappears after a few minutes, it's still present in my contact list, but with the gray question mark and "this person has not shared their details with you", even though in the conversation itself it says "<friend> has shared contact details with <myself>". On the other side, it seems like none of this is happening and my friend can still see my status as if I was their contact (which I am). After re-sending the contact request multiple times (which is instantly accepted, it doesn't seem to even display on my friend's side, he just instantly becomes my contact again) it seems to have sorted itself out and that person is now in my contacts, hopefully for good. Now yesterday I added a new contact and the same thing happens, she appears as a stranger about 10 minutes after accepting my contact request, even though it seemed fine on the mobile app while she was online, but now even mobile considers her as not part of my contacts, and also her profile picture isn't displaying on the mobile app. Note : there is already a thread about this in the Skype for Windows Desktop section, however since this problem has clearly nothing to do with the client you're using and is related to the platform/whatever software runs on Microsoft's servers, I'm reposting this here. Skype for Windows Desktop version 6.20.0.104 running on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, and Skype for iPhone version "idon'tknowwhat because there's no "about" page apparently" running on iOS 8.0.2, iPhone 5S. My Skype account isn't linked with any Facebook nor Microsoft account (it was, but it's been unlinked about two months ago). Hi, I hope someone can help me. I have a similar problem to Andre (from original post a week ago below). I only use Skype to communicate with a personal friend who has recently been posted abroad (Europe) to work. I always sign in via my Microsoft account and have done since Microsoft & Skype merged and I linked the two together. My contact does the same. As my accounts are linked, my friend shows up in my contacts both as a Skype contact and also a Messenger contact. When we communicate, it is normally always via our Skype names although I can see them online under both names. On Friday night however, they came online but shortly afterwards, I noticed that the grey question mark had appeared next to their Skype name saying 'Person has not shared their contact details with you'. They are still showing up ok under their Messenger name as it appears as offline, so I have been a bit confused why this has happened and I haven't yet had a chance to speak to my friend to ask them. I decided to look at the Skype help forum and came across this post by Andre who has had a similar problem, although he says it has happened with a couple of new contacts but his problem has now been resolved. I was hoping someone could help me and give me some advice as to what I should do now. I have checked my computer and have the latest Skype version for desktop installed. I am using Internet Explorer 11; Windows 7 Home version - 64 bit. I also have the Skype app on my android smartphone which has the most recent updated version. I don't really use Skype on my phone although I did log-in on late Friday afternoon but didn't stay on long before I signed out. I have read in posts in the past about corrupted files etc on Skype but because I don't know much about these things, I don't like to mess about with the programs that are installed on my computer because I don't know what I'm doing. How do I force iTunes to put my contacts from the computer onto the phone? Multiple synchs and a restore did not work and neither does clicking the advanced setting "replace this information for this iPhone." Earlier this year I tried syncing via the cloud but only ended up with 3 different calendars, bookmarks and contacts on my devices so now I only sync via iTunes and USB.

i followed the instructions to manually manage songs and playlists.
Drag playlists from iTunes in the Source to the iPod.
If you want to delete a playlists from the iPod, in the Source in iTunes, click th eDisclosure triangle in front of the iPod name to display the playlists on the iPod.
You should edit the playlists in iTunes and then drag them to the iPod.
If you edit them only on the iPod in iTunes, and have to reload your iPod, the playlists will disappear.
