Force Login for all Visitors

After upgrading to Mavericks Server, I realized, that the wiki's people page is accessible by everybody without loging in.
I did not find any manuals on how to require a login for every page for 10.9 Server. (10.7 & 10.8 is documented)

I'm also at a loss about how to do this in 10.9 server... it's a very bad decision to leave those pages unprotected, IMHO. I know there are more "brute force" methods of protecting the whole site, but none is as elegant (or convenient) as doing it right.
I'm also waiting for a fix.

What's the best method for a nav menu with image rollovers for all visitors, including PDAs? I've used JavaScript rollovers for years because the majority of my customers' visitors use some version of IE (past 7.0) but I'm building a new site that has to display properly for the widest range of visitors imaginable. (I also know that I need to use a more modern method for everyone and this is my excuse to start).
Finally, using images is critical. I apologize ahead of time to anyone I offend, but I have never seen a nav menu without images that doesn't look just plain terrible.

They have all kinds of menus and other extensions available for purchase. Easy to use and they work as advertised. I personally use Pop Menu Magic and Tab Panel magic myself. I could go on and on, but I guarantee that if others respond they will echo the same sentiment for Project Seven.

SSO for some SAP Apps, but forced login for the sensitive data application

We have R/3 4.7 (Enterprise), with EP 6.0 and Web AS 6.40. We have implemented Employee Self Service, as well as CRM, and some BW reports through EP 6.0. We have a Broadvision Portal that is on top of EP 6.0. In other words, the employees login to the Broadvision Portal, and authenticate against our Active Directory user store. Then they will choose the SAP apps listed above, which go through the SAP Portal (EP 6.0)
We want to allow SSO through EP when users choose either CRM, or BW reports, but we want to force a login when they choose ESS, since this data is more sensitive. The problem we have had is that when we turn on SSO, it allows the user through for all 3 SAP apps. My question is: How can we force a login for just ESS, but not for the other 2 apps.

I suppose, Eric meant Authentication Schemes ("authschemes") instead of security zones.
An authentication scheme is essentially a pointer to a JAAS logon stacks on the J2EE Engine plus a frontend ("login screen"). Authentication schemes are assigned numbers ("priorities"), the higher the number the more trustworthy the authentication of the underlying JAAS stack is regarded.
Example:
Let's assume you use the default authscheme "uidpwdlogon" for all your iviews. It features a password-based or SAP logon ticket-based logon and is assigned a value of 20. All iviews that have this authscheme set in its "authscheme" property are accessible for you without any further authentication once you have passed this scheme (or any other authscheme with a priority <= 20).
Now, you set one individual iview to use authscheme "certlogon", which requires an X.509 certificate and is valued "21". When accessing this iview, the portal will force a re-authentication (as 21>20).
By configuring custom authschemes and JAAS logon stacks you can easily implement your scenario. Simply ensure that all your ESS iviews will be using an authscheme with a value greater that your default value.

I want to keep separate users but I don't want a password requirement to login for any user. How do I turn off the password requirement at login altogether?

Its not only a matter of other people, but also any software-based threats or even mishaps. For instance, there are some Terminal commands that can be executed by a program, script, or even another user that require authentication. If you do not have a password set then these can be executed directly with administrative privileges. Some of these can be disastrous to the system if used incorrectly.
I agree for the most part if your system is fairly isolated then this is not much of an issue, but there is the rare possibility of malware or simple user mistakes that a good password helps guard against.

Mounting a Lacie Drive on Login for all users?

Here's the situation: I want to make my Mac users single sign-on to my Active Directory server (2003 Server). This part is easy and works great- users get their home directory mounted and of course have to authenticate against the AD server to logon on. What I can't have is them saving their huge multimedia files to our server- it doesn't have the HDD space!
Summary: I want users who authenticate to an AD server to be able to save small files to their home directories but larger files to the Lacie drive attached to a G5 tower. What would be the best way to do this?

I would, as an admin user, create one folder for each of your users on the LaCie drive and make each of them owner of his own folder (I guess this can be obtained from the "Get Info" window or the Unix way).
You still have to check that the FW drive mounts for all user sessions but I don't see why it wouldn't.

Webmail rejects login for all user accounts

My mail accounts hosted on Server work fine with client access, but not webmail. Our server is set for imap & pop but our apple clients are set for imap.
After getting the basic send/receive (imap) working via the client, I used Server Admin to:
* under Web setting, selected one of 2 virtual domains
* turned on WebMail (options tab)
* under firewall setting, turned ON the Web Performance cache (port 16080) service sicne I saw that port was being used for webmail too
Now we can use our browsers to go to xyz.com/webmail and see the login screen, BUT
I try to login with the username and password that works fine for my desktop machine's email client, but get "unknown user or password is incorrect"
Double-checked my caps lock key, tried 3 different accounts (all with working send/receive via clients), none of them can login to webmail.
- do I have to have a realm set for the domain for webmail to permit login? (I have mulitple realms for webdav, which is working fine)
- when the user logs in, do they login as "joe" or as "[email protected]" (tried both ways, but still can't find that documented)
What can I look at that might tell me why user login via webmail isn't working.
PS The server is os x server 10.3.9.

Looks like I had to change the IMAP and SMTP authentication in the conf.pl script to CRAM-MD5. Never saw it in the docs, but finally found a reference to it in the discussion group. Hopefully this post willhelpful the next person with the problem.

Forcing Face Detection for All Pictures in an Event

Aperture 3.0 fails to detect all faces in all photos in an Event. Is there a way to force face detection for all photos in an Event? As it stands now, one cannot tag photos for faces if Aperture decides (erroneously) that photos don't contain a face.
Spent ninety minutes with Apple Aperture Support, who confirmed this.

I don't know how to answer your first question (force it for all photos), but I thought you could add faces / names to a photo using the Name button left hand side of the toolbar. I've used it today to add a "Face" to a photo containing two hands because I wanted to tag each hand with a Name. So I clicked Name, and drew a box on each hand and added a Name to it. So it works for a single photo but that might be a pain to do for a lot

Hi I have a problem. My businesswebsite www.steunkousgemak.nl was hacked and the hacker placed mallware on it. My link on google had a warning and when you wanted to visit my site on firefox there was a red warning page. I made a new website so it's deffinately clean, moved it to a different server and have a new hostingpackage. Now I am wondering if firefox automaticly saved the warning for all visitors that where on my website when it was infected, and so that they still see the warning when they want to visit my site now? if yes, how can I solve this?thank you a lot for your answer!regards Steven

Try clearing your browser cache.
Tools > Clear Recent History... - hit Details and make sure only Cache is selected, then select Everything and hit the Clear Now button.

Setting builtin Weather app location for all domian users

I am trying to force a home location for the built-in weather app using Group Policy.
I have tried to trace these settings using Process Explorer but I cant see where they are written.
How would I go about forcing this for all users?

Although I wish I would have found this thread sooner it would have saved me A LOT of time figuring out the directory where the settings are stored.
I've looked into the PersonalDataCache folder and found 3 files typically. The important one being
PersonalData_weather.file which seems to be something akin to an XML file. It contains entries for example below:

After modifying the file and attempting to copy it back into a users profile however it never works. I'd be curious how you were able to actually get NEW users logging in for the first time to properly have the weather location that you want.
I'd also be curious if 2 months into this setting change if it is still working for you?
Also, I'd be curious to know if you are using a GPO to turn on the location services. Or if you have managed to figure out a way to get the weather app to stop asking users if it can use their location the first time they open the app.

How can I set the default home page in Firefox 4 for all users that login to a PC on a Win 7 PC?

I work at a community college in upstate NY.
We use Firefox as the default browser at our institution and we have always set the default homepage to be our homepage for all users that login to the PC. We had a procedure to to that that worked with Windows XP and FF 3 or earlier
We would do the following:
1. go to: c:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Mozilla\FireFox\Profiles\<profile_name>\prefs.js
2. Add the line: user_pref (“browser.startup.homepage”,”http://www.genesee.edu”);
3. Copy the Folder
C:\Documents & Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Mozilla
To
C:\Documents & Settings\Default User\Application Data\Mozilla
4. Restart the computer
We're going to Win 7 and Firefox 4 and things seem to be different in terms of files and file structure. Does anyone know how to accomplish this?

How to force RH9 to use only one master stylesheet for all Word imports?

I have set a stylesheet (css) as the default for my RH9 WebHelp project in project settings. When I import Word documents into the project, the edit import setting dialog does not show this stylesheet in the list of available stylesheets for the import.
What is happening instead is a proliferation of unwanted stylesheets derived from all the imported documents. I then have to manually re-set all the new topics to the master stylesheet.
How can I stop this, and force RH9 to use only the one master stylesheet for all imports?

That’s what I thought I was doing in the Project Settings>Import tab>CSS for Style Mapping selection. Maybe that isn’t what it’s meant to do. It’s just getting annoying having all these unneeded files popping up in the project manager so that I have trouble distinguishing the “real” topics from the extra stuff.

Is there a way to force enable wmode=direct for all Flash content on all webpages ?

I need a way to force enable wmode=direct for all Flash content that's running regardless of the webpage the Flash content is runing on.
If there isn't a way to do so now, please enable this as fast as you can in the next version of Flash.
I've read somewhere that if there's no wmode setting on the page like opaque, transparent, direct or hw the flash content will run in wmode=window setting so it would be very easy to change that and force Flash to use wmode=direct instead.
This could be done by adding wmode=direct line to mms.cfg or even add Force wmode=direct to Flash Settings, easy as that.
I really don't wanna hear the arguments why force enable wmode=direct for all Flash content regardless of webpage is not indicated to do, just do it, I really need this wmode=direct feature to be always on simple as that.
I know that on some webpages some content might run behind flash content by doing so but I really don't care cause I know what sites I'm using and what Flash content I'm runing so just enable it.
Waiting for all websites to implement wmode=direct would take ages and I don't have time to waste instead I wanna enable this feature by now since I have seen what a big difference it makes by runing Flash accelerated instead of software decoding.

You will not get what you need using stamps, especially if you ever want to use dynamic XFA forms.
The digital signatures that were signed with a self-signed digital ID won't fully validate unless the user chooses to trust the corresponding digital certificate first. You should only trust a digital certificate if you trust its source. The problem is using self-signed IDs will be difficult to use on the scale you're talking about.
Digital signatures are the best approach for your needs. They can provide both nonrepudiation of document origin as well as document integrity. You just have to figure out how to implement a solution you can afford.
You agency can become its own certificate authority and issue certificates to its employees. You'd just have to find a way to implement and manage such a system.

How can I deploy EFS using Group Policy and Active Directory with a goal to automatically encrypt computers for ALL users who login? (NOT an option for me to use BitLocker)
I was asked to deploy EFS to encrypt the user my documents folder and profile on all of the users laptops. The laptops are in common areas (board meeting rooms, etc) and security of files is a must.
I successfully created a recovery certificate in AD. I created an OU and setup an EFS policy and users can now login and select to encrypt their own files. The issue is that management would like to have automaticy Encrypt ALL users my documents AUTOMATICALLY
when a user login.
Can this be done?

How do I startup an application for all users at login?

I know about launchd, but I want an application to start whenver a user logs in and run as that user. launchd stuff seems to run as root.
I would prefer to set this up to work for all users, but if that can't be done, just for the current user. I have an installer package and Id like to run this command to set this up from a bash script.

I found this bit of code which is very similar to something else I found.
defaults write ~/Library/Preferences/loginwindow AutoLaunchedApplicationDictionary -array-add '{ "Path" = "/path/to/script"; "Hide" = "0"; }'
That doesn't work. Anyone at all, even for a single user, how do I script a command to get an application to start when a user logs in under 10.8?
