Force photos to search for faces

Is there a way to force Photos to search for faces, or will it only do it automatically when I have opened a "folder" of someone's face?

How do I use new Photos to autoscan for faces like iPhoto did?

iPhoto used to have a feature to auto scan for faces. On Photos, I seem to have to go through photos one by one, or identify "unidentified" faces 1 by 1, then it will auto detect just a few more, which is HUGELY inefficient with 1000s of photos.(a lot already have "known faces" attached to them) . Looking it up in Photos Help is no help! It says:
Rescan a photo for a missing face
Select one or more photos with undetected faces.
Choose Photos > Detect Missing Faces.In the Source list, an icon next to Faces spins as iPhoto scans the photos again. During this scan, iPhoto uses less stringent criteria than in the original scan. As a result, you may see more “false positives”—photos in which an object has been identified as a possible face.
To see if iPhoto found additional faces, select one photo at a time and click the Info button in the toolbar.
Question:
there is no Photos in source list only ALL PHOTOS (FACES,LAST IMPORT, ETC.), nor in dropdown, so what do I do? I never get to the the spinning icon....
Also how do I find "undetected Faces" do I really have to go photo by photo? Help me!!!!

Can't select photo after scans for faces

I just bought a laptop with iphoto 09 on it; previously I used 08 (or earlier; can't remember). {Yes I know a new version '11 just came out. Given the number of problems reported maybe I'm not sad about the purchase-timing}.
My library is huge with 30K+ images; I keep it on an external HD. After opening the new iphoto it asked to tweak my library which I allowed. Upon first opening all images seem to be there and selectable, but after it scans for faces (takes hours), I can no longer select a photo, necessary in order to start identifying faces.
I tried closing iphoto and reopening - same thing; images selectable prior to running faces scan, then not.
I tried rebuilding the library. This lost all my keyword structure (I use keyword manager) and after the rebuild bombed failing to import all the images, I deleted the rebuilt library before testing whether it could select images.
My old library does seem as if it should be rebuilt, many images now appear blank as thumbnails though present when selected.
¿ Will rebuilding the library fix the selecting-face scanning problem?
¿ Is there a way to rebuild the library that will retain my keyword structure?
BTW, I deleted the partially rebuilt library via iphoto library manager...

Darn! It seems to say MS-DOS (FAT). I thought I had fixed all my HDs to be properly formatted for the Macintosh.
Does this mean I'm SOL?
I could put a screen shot of my disk utility...
Or how about I just copy the entire iphoto library to my new giant-er HD and then reformat the EHD and copy it back ... is that necessary? And if so, how best to move the library. Do I need to use iphoto library manager or just slide the whole thing onto the internal HD?

I photo keeps searching for movie dater in file ! plus .......

when opening i movie . It then goes crazy trying to locate movies (searching for data in file ) The search or cancel . So time consuming and frustrating. Iv taken it to mac here in Borneo a number of time and still the same problem . And now I cannot view my video clips or locate aperture that was there last time. I exported the movies from aperture 3 to I photo hope I could edit them there. But NO can see them in I photo. Some time Nothing shows. This all stated after getting up dates.
How to resolve. Mac Borneo must be getting fed up me coming in and spending hours till its time to go home trying to sort this out!

Yes I movie has real trouble . and it needs to be addressed by the pros from APPLE
I have the same trouble with But i think its also to do with Quick time as Some clips from some clips come up with the same massage .
searching for files , then after clinging stop as it never finds them . you get I movie file DA DA DA AVI cannot be found . without this file the movie cannot be payed properly
I just cannot use I Movie . i have been in Forums and Been to two mack shops and spent a hole day . and then get home and it all starts again. What the **** is it with this. This only started after up dates .

Force iTunes to search for iPhone

Having trouble searching for keywords

I am just starting to use aperture for all of my photos. one of the cool things I see using it is to be able to attach 'keywords' to photos. I'm guessing that the only reason to put a keyword as part of a photo is so you can search for it. I have added keywords to some photos, and searched for that keyword in the search bar of aperture, but the photo does not come up. I am wondering why this is- is this not the intended use, or...

Hmm, I'm not sure. When you added the keywords, how did you separate them? Commas? If you use a space between them they become one big keyword, but still searchable. Are you searching by putting the keyword in the search field or by using the Filter?
Not that it should make a difference, it worked both ways for me...

Keyboard disabled and search for bluetooth

Hi chaps, a couple of times recently when I've awoken my iMac in the morning the mouse is ok but I get dialogue up saying 'searching for bluetooth keyboard' I cannot get to do much else, the keyboard appears not to work and the simplest solution is to force quit the 'searching for bluetooth keyboard' utility then turn off bluetooth and then the keyboard works ... has anyone any ideas please ? (I've done the normal repairs and run cocktail etc) Best Roger

LOV - Require User to always Search for Values option

Hi All,
I have build a Supervisor LOV,But when I click the LOV(Flash light Icon), the new LOV window opens and it fetches the entire list of Supervisors which takes lots of time and LOV times out in many of the cases.
I want the LOV window should open without bringing the entire list of suprevisor and let User enter some Name to be searched.
To achieve the same,I enabled the option
Require User to always Search for Values option
(Immediately Displays the Search Dialogue when LOV is exapnded)
But it is not working.
Is there a way to do it ??

I dont think so,that I need to create a table or Materialised view.Cause I am taking the data from per_all_people_f directly.All the employees who are managers.
But I want that when users clicks on the LOV ,it should open and should force user to search for some employee .
As of now it fetches the entire list while opening up,when the user clicks on LOV button.

Can you search for more than one person in a photo

Let's say you named all the faces in iphoto and now you want to search for a photo that contains two particular people, for example I want iphoto to find all the pictures that have Bob and Mary in that shot.
Is there a way to do this. I tried and it finds Bobs and Mary's pictures but not the ones where they are together? Maybe there is a way by writing Bob + Mary and then iphoto will find all those pictures?

It will work with any of the smart album criteria - file menu ==> new smart album
The easiest way to see is to take a look at what is available there - and make a smart album or two - if you don't like them just drag them to the iPhoto trash and do another one

How can I search for duplicate photos in iPhoto 9.5.1 library. Installed on iMac 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5, Mavericks 10.9.5.

These applications will identify and help remove duplicate photos from an iPhoto Library:

If you have an iPhone and have it set to keep the normal photo when shooting HDR photos the two image files that are created will be duplicates in a manner of speaking (same image) but there are only twp apps that detected the iPhone HDR and normal photos as being duplicates: PhotoSweeper and Duplicate Cleaner for iPhoto. None of the other apps detected those two files as being duplicates as they look for file name as well as other attributes and the two files from the iPhone have different file names.
iPLM, however, is the best all around iPhoto utility as it can do so much more than just find duplicates. IMO it's a must have tool if using iPhoto.

IPhoto 09 does not search imported 08 library for faces

I have noticed that iPhoto does not search my converted 08 library for faces. It has no problem with new photos that I have added though. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I think my library is just corrupted for not being used for a while and being moved from one computer to another. As a test I copied some photos to my desktop that I knew were in my old library in order to test whether any faces would be found. I saw that some old distorted photos that I remember deleting appeared in the even folder with the imported pictures. I'll try using iPhoto Library Manger.
My problem seems to be with the format of my library (hopefully) and not faces.

Is it possible to search for images with faces I haven't yet tagged, and images that I haven't added places-information for?

Not directly. However you can go to the Faces mode, select all faces and hit the Smart Album button. In the resulting smart album assign a keyword to all photos like "faces". Then create a smart album whose criteria is Keyword is not "faces". Then as you assign new faces to the photos you'll need to go back to the smart album for faces, select all and reassign the "faces" keyword. I know what you're thinking but until Apple provides a new feature that's what we're saddled with.

Jabber for Windows / iPhone - issue with photo and search

I have an issue regarding Cisco Jabber for Windows as well as iPhone & iPad.
I recently upgraded our Call Manager infrastructure from 8.6.5 to 10.0. Along with that, I wanted to rollout the new Jabber for Windows (9.7.2) because now we use a very old version (9.2.1).
After I upgraded my test client, I noticed that the user photos (which are retrieved from active directory) were gone.
So for the first time, I decided to modify the the jabber-config.xml (I attatched the two different versions).

My attempt is to achive these goals:
1) I want one config file which is working with Jabber for Windows, iPhone & iPad, Android as well as Jabber for Mac
2) I want a secure connection from the client to our directory server
3) I want to retrieve the user photos from the active directory user (attribute thumbnailPhoto)
4) Jabber should find only users which are a member of the active directory group "example" (example is a nested group which contains several users and at least _one_ other group). Until now, the whole active directory was searched for users/contacts.
So far, 1) and 2) seems to work fine. 3) and 4) are the troublemakers and I really don't no why.
Can somebody help me?

First I had to uncheck "Use UDS for Contact Resolution" and then I had to create a new jabber-config.xml and upload it to the TFTP server.
But there are a few limitations you have to deal with. But I have mentioned that in the other thread.
