Force print from rear tray in pages?

Hello,
I'm trying to print on a small card from pages.  I've created a custom document size 2.5 by 3 inches.  but can't figure out how to force it to print from the rear tray.
when I go to File - Print - Presets - Show Presets - Quality & Media, it shows me the Paper Source, but says "Automatic" and I can't figure out how to CHANGE the paper source to rear tray.  Any help would be much appreciated!
Aaron

Hello.
The issue may also be related to a setting in your web browser.  Check to see if your browser has a Page Setup option.  This menu may be controlling the paper feed setting.
If the issue persists, please try using a different web browser to test the unit.

  • Won't print from rear tray

I have a Pixma MG6220. No matter what I do it won't print from the rear tray from a source on the web. I go to both the quick setting and main tab and select "rear tray." Still prints from cassette. I took out the paper from the cassette. Won't print unti I load paper in the cassette. I even selected a different paper than plain paper and selected rear tray - but it still printed from the cassette.
I selected "continuous autofeed" for a default, removed paper from the cassette - and it still wouldn't print from paper loaded in the rear tray.
It will print from the rear tray if it's a document originating from my computer (or at least I just tried that and it worked). I did not change from plain paper, I only had to select rear tray.
Yes, I realize "save the document to your computer" will be a suggestion, but the website won't let me. It's a "free printable" that is not downloadable.

  • MX890 only prints from rear tray/Mac

My MX890 printer always wants to print from the rear tray.  I have set the option in the printer window to print from the cassette.  I even change the "automatic feed" in the print dialogue window that comes up on my computer to "cassette," and it still gives me the msg that there is no paper in the rear tray.  It used to work if I did this, but now has stopped working.  How the heck to I fix this?  I'm using a MacBook Pro running Yosemite.  I have updated all the recommended software/drivers from the Canon website.  Thanks
    Ellen

    Hi ellenann9424,
The machine will automatically feed paper from the rear tray when media types other than plain paper (such as photo paper) are selected in the printer driver, or on the printer itself when printing.  If you have already verified that the cassette is selected as the paper source in the printer driver and on the printer itself, please ensure that the paper type selected in both locations is set to plain paper, as all other media types will attempt to feed from the rear tray, even if the cassette is selected as the paper source.
    Hope this helps!

  • My MG5220 won't print an original 3 page document from rear tray.

I have only recently had trouble printing original documents from rear tray.  I have completed maintenance ( cleaning), checked paper media, etc.  I have checked page set-up, etc.  I think I am overlooking something that is obvious but I can't see the forest for the trees.  Please advise.  Thanks!

    Hi Kashmie,
To try and resolve the issue, with a flashlight or other bright light, please check the paper feed area of the printer and verify that there are no paper jams or obstructions in the printer that may be causing the paper not to feed.  Once this has been done, please look inside of the printer where the inks are located and ensure that there are no obstructions in there that may be causing the print head not to move freely.  Next, please remove and reseat all of the ink tanks in the printer.  Once all of these steps have been performed, if you still experience difficulty, please call or email us at one of the methods on the Contact Us page for further assistance.

  • In adobe reader, I can't print from different trays?

Using Adobe Reader, I can't print from different trays on my Lexmark x954 printer.  I've tried reinstalling the print driver (latest version) and reinstalling Adobe Reader with no luck.  I can see the trays and even select them in the print dialog box in adobe but when I print I am unable to print from the correct trays.  It always prints from tray 3 of my printer no matter what tray and type of paper I choose in adobe.  Any suggestions?
I've also noticed a problem printing through Preview.  I can select different trays using preview but the print time is extremely slow.  It seems like it has to re-download the pdf page each time it goes to print.  So a 100 page print job takes 20-30 minutes to complete which means other have to wait for my job to complete so it really slows our office down.
Thanks for your help.  Also, I am using the mountain lion operating system.  Thanks again!

Don't know whether it will make any difference, but a new version of Adobe Reader has just been released:

  • HP Envy 7645 won't print from photo tray

FIXED my own problem!Never thought to try setting the paper size to 4x6 in/10x25 cm! That's apparently what I get for being metric-phobic (or ignorant). But really, why provide a 4x6 option in the first place?  I can't get my Envy 7645 printer to print from the photo tray.  I'm specifically trying to print from the Photos app. I select the print option, set the printer, paper size (4x6), and paper options to "print from photo tray." I select print, and the HP print dialog appears and from there I am unable to set the photo tray as the paper source. The dialog comes up with "Default Settings" as the Presets option and when I scroll down through the dialog to select the Paper Type/Quality option, it shows paper type as HP Photo Papers, Quality is set to Normal, and the Source is set to Automatic (which fails to print from the photo tray; it defaults to the main tray). When I try to shift from Automatic to Photo Tray, I get an error message that says "The paper size selected is not supported by the Photo Tray. To print with the Photo Tray, go to the Page Setup dialog, choose a paper size supported by this tray, and then return to the Print dialog." At this point, I have no idea where to find the Page Setup dialog (it's not immediately apparent in the avialable options and I can't seem to find it under any of the Photos print options). Further, I don't understand why I'm getting the error in the first place as the paper installed in the tray is, indeed, 4x6 (as set in the original Photos dialog). I've tried playing with any number of varities of options (e.g, changing from HP Photo Papers to the generic other photo papers option, not specifying size of photo paper) and any time I select the photo tray option, I get the error message.

Hey ,  Welcome to the HP Support Forum.  Did you still need assistance?  I see that you have some interface questions about printing photos from a Yosemite Mac using your HP ENVY 7645 e-All-in-One Printer.  I would like to help.  Have you installed your printer's full-feature driver on the Mac?  If not, click here to install. Also, for your information, your printer's specifications re: supported photo paper sizes is available here.       When I tried printing a photo from my Yosemite machine (albeit with a different printer) this is how I configured the print job:   If I had the option I would also recommend setting the paper type to correspond with whatever kind of photo paper you're using.  If this approach doesn't help try the following steps:  Uninstall your printer - click here for instructions.  Repair disk permissions on your Mac - click here for instructions.  Once you've finished running the above-noted utility, restart your computer. Lastly, click here to reinstall your printer.  Please let me know the result of your troubleshooting by responding to this post.  If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below and clicking to accept this solution. Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum.  Have a great day!

    Hello,
Most of the times, these problem are solved by "enclosing" the "Repeating frames" in frames with "Vertical Eleasticity" set to "Variable"

  • Can't print from 2nd tray

My printer has a 2nd tray for photo paper. How do I get iPhoto to print from that tray to print out photos at home?

printer specific options (like paper source if it is supported on your printer) are on the final print window - if there are not there click on the little grey triangle to the right of the printer name to open the full window up

  • HP 8630 won't print from Paper Tray 2

I decided to upgrade last week with the dual paper tray printer and continue to have to manually load my stationary in paper tray 1 to print on custom paper.
Why in the world can't HP fix this issue....I've been with Apple Care to do everything regarding repairs on their end of the line and reinstalled printer software following that process and it worked....ONCE. Now I cannot even get the Options Box to stay checked long enough to get ONE print from paper tray 2.
I'm returning this POS today....unfortunately, I tossed the box after I mistakenly thought it was fix after the Apple Care exercise.
HP....what is your problem that you can't resolve this issue?????

  • 7515 keeps trying to print from photo tray when main tray selected (Mac)?

Just started uing a iMac with the 7515.  It's driving me nuts that it keeps trying to print from the photo tray when I have main tray clearly selected in the print dialog box.
I'm trying to insert the picture of the print dialog box, but doesn't seem to be working.  In presets (the second selection box from the top) I've got "Print from Main Tray" selected pretty plainly.
Turning the printer on and off does not help.
    Any help appreciated.

    Hey Chriscic,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
Always the best recommend steps to start off with when troubleshooting with a Mac, is to reset the printing system. Then verify, and repair the disk permissions.
So to start with the reset of the printing system, I have included the document 'Macintosh: Resetting the Printing System in Mac OS X'. Please select your version of Mac, and follow through the steps. If you have Mavericks, you can follow the steps for OS X v10.8. Also, please do not re-add the printer just yet.
After the reset of the printing system, you will need to complete the verify, and repair of the disk permissions. I have included the document 'Disk Utility 12.x: Repair disk permissions'. For step three when it asks you to select a disk, please select your hard drive. Once the repair has completed, please restart the Mac.
After the Mac has restarted, you can now add the printer back into the print queue. The try to print. Are you still experiencing the same issue? Or are you able to print from the main tray?
If you do require further assistance, please let me know the version of Mac OS X you are running. If you need it, I have included the document 'Finding your OS X version and build information'.
    Looking forward to your reply.

  • How can I print from my IMAC with Mavericks OS to the Canon MP560 printer's rear tray?

I have just moved from a Windows platform to Imac.  On Windows, in Word, I was able to select where the paper was feeding (automatically select, rear tray, etc.) but now I can't select rear tray.  I've already tried the "Quality & Media" under presets but was not given an option to change where the paper comes from.  Can anybody help?

You need to turn on Printer Sharing on both the PC and OS X. I can't help you on Vista but in OS X it's System Preferences - Sharing - check the Printer Sharing box.

  • No Black type from rear tray

I have a MG5300.  Can you tell me why it will not print black type from the rear tray? It comes out  blue instead.  If I print from the front tray, the black type is fine. I've checked and cleaned the ink heads.  The printer's selection of the rear tray is triggered by my choice of glossy paper.

    Hi CTSailor,
When printing from the cassette tray in the front of the printer (usually on plain paper), the pigment black ink tank (larger black ink tank) is used to produce the black ink on the page.  When printing from the rear tray, usually a different paper type other than plain paper is being printed on, and, in these instances, a combination of the color inks (including the small black ink tank) are used to produce the text and/or images on the page.  If any of the ink tanks are not printing correctly, the colors may appear inaccurate on the printout.
To verify that all of the inkjet nozzles are dispensing the ink correctly, we can print a nozzle check pattern from the printer.  To do this, please follow the steps located at the link below:

Did the nozzle check pattern print correctly?

  • How can I choose my printer's rear tray on my MacBook?

    Hello everyone,
I have something strange going on on my MacBook when it comes to printing...
I would love to be able to print address labels, photos etc. on actual labels and photo paper using the rear tray of my printer (Canon MG5150). The weird thing is that I cannot for the life of me find the option to choose the rear tray. I have expanded the print dialogue to show all possible options, but there's absolutely no way to choose my printer's paper source. So I'm stuck with the standard cassette, which I do not dare use for anything thicker than normal printing/copying paper. Everything else printer-wise works fine from the MacBook, I just can't select the paper source (regardless which programme I'm working in on the MacBook).
Something else I've tried is downloading the latest printer driver from Canon. No joy there though, doesn't make a blind bit of difference. I've also tried opening programmes using Rosetta just in case, but that doesn't seem to change anything either.
My iMac never presented me with this problem; it always let me print from whichever paper source I wanted (using the same Canon printer). Some background info: my MacBook has Mac OS 10.6.8 on it, my iMac Mac OS 10.4. Could it have something to do with the operating system? They are both Intel, aren't they, so why would the options be there on one Mac, but not the other?
So, where could my menu options have disappeared to?? Have Apple changed their printing dialogues for the worse or something? It seems such a shame I can't use my MacBook to its full potential and have to resort to roundabout ways of being able to do what I want. I'm hoping it's something really obvious, and that someone can help me.
    Thanks for any advice!
    Kind regards,
    Esther

    Hello-
You can restore network defaults on the printer.
Press the Setup icon. Then go to Network Menu, scroll down to "restore network defaults".
This should clear any "Admin" settings that were set.
Then you can turn radio on and run the wireless wizard to get back on network.
    I hope this helps.

  • Frontend printing from bypass tray

    Dear Experts,
    We have the following requirements:
We have a smartform printed from customized program that will print product information (material number, batch number, and description). The requirement from the users is such that the printout should come from the Bypass Tray of the printer - LOCL which is the frontend printer.
So far, what we have tried unsuccesfully so far are:
    1. Change the printer's preference (in the Windows setting) such that paper source is from the Bypass Tray.
    2. Create a new page format (default printout from Bypass Tray) and use this new page format in the form.
I would greatly apprecieate it if anybody that has had this requirement before, would be willing to share your experience on how to solve this issue.
Thank you and Have a Nice Day.

Something to do with printer driver.
