Force printer 'supply levels' to update
This drives me nuts... how do you force the OS/Printer Window to upadate the supply levels of your printer?
MIne is stuck displaying the last levels from the 18th of March & won't update to today.
I'm out of toner on at least one cartridge & I need to reorder but have no idea which others need replacing too.
Why doesn't it just update or have a refresh button???
Some printers do not use the Apple Supply Levels pane to show toner/ink status and instead use their own utility.
Open System Information and select Printers in the left column. If you have more than one printer, then the top right pane will show all devices. Select the Lexmark to see its print queue information. If this is the only printer you have on the Mac then there will be no top right pane, just a right pane that will show information about the Lexmark. You should see an entry called Printer Commands. Does this list Report Levels?
Could you copy the information that is shown for the Lexmark and paste back here please.

I can't print from my 27" late 2013 iMac. I am using an epson stylus 3800 pro. I updated driver and added printer in system preferences. When i print the printer queue opens and shows the job as "stopped". Supply level shows "information is not available which maybe part of problem...thank you
The first thing you could try is a reset of the printing system. Please note that this action will remove all printers and scanners from the Printers & Scanners preference pane.
With the reset complete, unplug the Epson USB cable from the Mac for a minute and then reconnect it. This action should result in the printer being added again to the Mac automatically. If this does happen, then see if you can print again.
If the printer is not added again automatically, open Printers & Scanners and click the plus button to add the Epson. Once this is done, then see if you can print again. -
Unable to check HP printer ink levels via Supply Levels
I've got an HP Photosmart 8450 printer, and so far no printing problems with 10.5.1. However, I can't check ink levels in the printer via the "Supply Levels" window, and I can't find another way to see this information. I'm using the printer driver supplied with 10.5.1.
This information was available under 10.4.11 - is there a way to obtain printer ink levels in 10.5.1?I loaded mine from the 10.5.1 disk, but it's a separate operation from the main install. There's an optional install folder on the 10.5.1 disk with the info.
Load the system disk for your iMac and look at it in the Finder to see if there's a similar optional install folder. Then, there's always the HP website if you can find the driver there . . .
Regarding how you've got the 8450 printer set up, why not put the printer directly on the (ethernet?) hub rather than hanging it off the Vista laptop? There's an Ethernet port on that printer, and that's one of the reasons I picked that model. Your iMac probably can't see the printer the way you've configured things. Bonjour will be able to find the printer and get you hooked up with the printer directly on the hub. -
Error on installation: printer keeps searching for updates.
I get an error on installation: printer keeps "searching for updates" Installation is OK, printer works, but because of the continued messaging on the printer, the screen on printer is unusable. Any ideas?
Hey @Rooms ,
Thank you for taking the time to post on the HP Forums today! Hope you enjoy the experience.
I understand that you are getting a message on your screen that doesn't go away and it says "searching for updates".
Are you still experiencing this message or has it gone away by now?
Have you unplugged the printer and waited for a few minutes and then plugged it back in?
Do you have the printer connected directly to a wall outlet or is it in a surge protector or power bar? Even if you have been using a surge protector/power bar all this time and you feel it is not the cause, please connect it to a wall outlet just so we can eliminate the power source as the root cause. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector
In this document you will see, ISSUE: Problems or issues may arise when an HP LaserJet series printer is connected to an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), a power strip, or a surge protector
^ This is not limited to Laserjet printers.
Let me know the answer to all above questions. Have a great day!

Can't see the Supply Levels with Canon PIXMA ip4200
Have tried downloading the latest drivers from Canon and used various other drivers but can't see the Supply Levels. Was OK with my Windows machine, but have now seen the light and use an iMac.
I am also having some issues when trying to print borderless with iPhoto, and think these problems may be related.
Any suggestions? In testing iPhoto, I can see what you are getting. With the photo size at 4 x 6 you only get two photos per A4 sheet, even full bleed.
Thinking about this, I wonder how the Windows application would have been fitting four to a page. A4 is 210mm x 297mm. A 4 x 6 inch photo is 101.6mm x 152.4mm. With the longer edge of 152 mounted inside the 210mm, there's roughly 50mm left. And in the vertical the photos use 203mm leaving 94mm. Not much room for another photo, let alone two more.
Doing the maths, four photos without borders would require a surface area of 203.2mm x 304.8mm. So there would have to be some image loss, or size reduction, even on a full bleed A4 print.
If you want four to a page, then the 3 x 5 print size will do this. But if you want 4 x 6 inch prints, then the default settings in iPhoto are not going to let you do it. And I can't find a way to override these default settings. Maybe there is another application that will let you do what you want.

Lexmark E232 prints supplies levels report
Every time I view the supply levels of my printer it reports wrongly low levels for my photo drum and then spools a "Supplies Levels" report which prints just a few garbage character at the top of the page.

I deleted and added printer several times, have updated driver from internet. I have three mac computer at home, they all are working fine. Try installing the Epson drivers from here:

and then seeing if adding and printing with USB works.
This site really works and my computer is now printing. -
Mutating error : row level BEFORE UPDATE trigger
Hi,
I had an issue on mutating terror(was trying to write a row level BEFORE update trigger), however i got it resolved after refering tom kytes web site. I thought i would share it with everyone, might be helpful for a few... Thanks!
I will be more than happy to learn on further better ways of resolving this issue.
Below I have posted the trigger that was causing this error and the work around for that issue, I created a package and three other triggers to replace row level BEFORE update trigger:
++trigger that was causing this issue:++

Photoshop CS5 crashes when trying to print. I recently updated to Mac OSX Mavericks. Help?
Hi, Chris. Thanks for giving this query a look. I have the same problem. All documents print on my HP Deskjet 932C except Photoshop files since I updated to Mavericks.
My CS5 version is 9.0 x64. Mavericks is 10.9.4.
I checked the HP drivers and HP doesn't have one for OS X newer than 10.4.
I tried printing out the detailed report (very long!) and this page rejected the reply as spam. Can we provide the text as an attachment? -
Every time I open iPhoto, the program freezes, showing me the spinning rainbow of death. I always need to perform a Force Quit. I have updated my software, but that did not help.

Try these in order - from best option on down...
1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
2. Download <a href="http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/"><b><u>iPhoto Library Manager</b></u></a> and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption. -
I suggest organising this forum by printer supplier for driver issues
Here's a suggestion for the Moderators.
I suggest organising this forum by printer supplier.
A lot of the questions in here are supplier - specific. It would be nifty to be able to either
a). check out general Leopard issues with wireless, set-up, sharing, or
b). go straight to the latest scoop on the issues with Lexmark drivers (or HP, or Brother, or Canon etc.)
Well, why not?Just a reminder folks, that this board is meant for feedback on the forum itself. Any discussion of Verizon products or services can be posted on the appropriate boards. Thanks!
