Force Resync of Users between CUCM & CUPS

On my CUPS server, I've got some users who were deleted from CUCM, but the deletion has not propagated to CUPS.
There's no "Delete" function for a user in CUPS admin.
I tried a SQL DELETE at the CLI, but that failed.
I re-created it on CUCM and then re-deleted it, but the re-created one didn't even sync any details (Probably because the PKIDs were different)
I manually re-created the user in CUCM with the same PKID as CUPS. I then deleted this from CUCM, but it still didn't delete from CUPS.
I've tried rebooting the CUPS server.
None of the above worked
How can I force CUPS to re-sync its list of users from CUCM? (This is on CUPS/CUCM 9.1)

Do you mean end user listed on End User page of both CUCM and Presence.
If yes try to go to System --> CUCM Publisher on CUPS Admin Page and see if there all is ok.
The propagation should be immediate.

Softphone Registration Error - Jabber 9.2.5 with CUCM/CUPS 8.6

All,
I'm having trouble getting my softphone feature inside Jabber 9.2.5 to work with my CUCM/CUPS 8.6 deployment. I have the CCMIP profile setup and user associations in place. The show connection status indicates a status of Not Connected with an error of "Connection error. Ensure the server information in the Phone Services tab on the Options window is correct. Contact you system administrator for assistance. The CCMCIP address is correct.
Any ideas?
I verified the service is running in CUCM. The Jabber client appears to never have attempted to register to CUCM. Status of the endpoint in CUCM is unknown, unknown.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. You can determine what CUCM server "name" the server is trying to use by doing a TFTP GET of the device config file from a workstation with access to the TFTP server.
An example from a windows box is
tftp -i GET .cnf.xml
This will pull a copy of the device's config file to the pc. You can then open it with any text editor and look for the CUCM name. It is most likely the hostname of the subscriber in question. If you can't resolve the name by itself (no fqdn) then the reg will fail. At least it did in my case.
You can change the server name to IP by browsing to System > Server in CUCM. Change the device in question name to the correct IP.
Alternatively you could correct the name resolution issue.

IPCC extension option not found under End user on CUCM

I have a new deployment for UCCX express with CCM V 9.1, when i am trying to go under End user to assign the extension which will be user for IPCC , unfortunately i did not find IPCC extension option , i only find primary extension .Please help. I am unable to see the tab of IPCC extension , only find the selection for primary extension.The integration already done , everything is ok between CUCM & UCCX. + phone services for IPCC subscribe for end users

Forced reauthentication following user change on 802.1x

We have a test 802.1x setup for wired network using IAS and Cat3550. We are using PEAP and assign different VLAN for machine account and user account via radius server and we are having issues with VLAN switching between the two accounts. The correct VLAN is assigned depending on machine is authenticated and when users are authenticated, the problem is the timing from one account to the other.
Let's say a Windows XP machine boots up and authenticates as machine and is assigned VLAN 100. Once a user logs on to the machine with his/her account based on radius policy he/she should be moved to VLAN 200. However, this does not happen right away. It waits for reauthentication timeout and then assigns the correct VLAN. Happens the same when user logs out. It waits for reauthentication timeout and then logs in as machine account and assigns VLAN 100 back to the port.
I have applied MS KB826942 patch and the host seems to renew the IP as soon as it detects VLAN change. But it seems to wait around for reauthentication from the switch. Anyone know how to force reauthentication once user changes?

802.1x is out of the way for you once 802.1x has authorized a switch port. Hence, 802.1x doesn't do anything else (until re-auth kicks is if you have it configured, as you seem to).
Hence, when a user logs into a machine after machine-auth has been successfully completed, 802.1x on the switch isn't going to do anything, b/c as far as it knows, it's already authorized the port, and has no visibility into what's actually happening on the machine.
Now, if you want to 802.1x-authenticate the user as well, then you need to make sure you have enabled the wired supplicant to send EAPOL-Starts. See here:

p.s. The reason it seems to work after re-auth is b/c the switch is doing initializing the auth conversation on it's own, and the supplicant replies back with cached credentials (also a default of this supplicant).

Impossible to create LDAP SYNC user on CUCM with Prime Collab Provisioning

Previously, I use Prime Provisionning to create and provision services for static users, it works.
For the same Customer, CUCM and Unity user are now imported from LDAP.
I add the changes in Provisioning processors (LDAP Auth + Sync).
At this time, it's impossible to create new users on CUCM from Provisioning !
Here is my procedure :
- I do a LDAP sync on prime to detect my new AD user.
- I select it and provision services to push on CUCM
- Orders stuck in being provisioned state...
On the CUCM, the user doesn't appear at all.
Is something wrong in my method ?
Do I need to make a LDAP sync on the CUCM to import users, next user synchro on processor in Prime, then edit user ?

I suspect you have LDAP sync turned on in CUCM. If CUCM is set to sync and does not already have the userID in it's database it will reject a user add.
This is a recognized problem with having both products set to sync. There are some solutions:
Always sync CUCM before you sync Prime Collaboration Provisioning (PCP). This way the new user will already be in CUCM and then will accept a provisioning order from PCP. The frequency of LDAP sync on CUCM will determine how often PCP can push new users to CUCM.
If PCP tries to provision a user but it is rejected by CUCM, provisioning will attempt to send it for 24 hours. There is an assumption that CUCM will sync daily so at some point CUCM will get the userID and then when PCP tries to provision, it will be accepted.
Use the latest CUCM 10.5(x) with a patch that provides the Authenticate Only setting setting. You will have to check with TAC or CUCM Marketing/TMEs for more information. In this case, CUCM will authenticate admins and Jabber clients against AD, but will take users from PCP immediately. The CUCM eng/marketing team has recommended we move away from syncing CUCM when PCP is doing the syncing from AD. CUCM does not need to sync when PCP is present. This eliminates the race condition between which app synced first.

Error encountered during provisioning of user to SAP CUP in OIM 11g R1 BP07

We recently updated our environment from 11.1.1.5 BP05 to 11.1.1.5 BP07.
We are facing an issue with provisioning users to SAP CUP system. We receive an error specifying :
Response: oracle.iam.connectors.sap.cup.ws.submitreq.ObjectFactory
Response Description: Unknown response received
However, we are unable to find any errors related in the log file. The SAP UM connector version is 9.1.2.5. Please let us know the cause of this issue.

1. Login to Design Console and open your GTC provisioning process definition , then Add a new task called "Notify Email".
2. Check Required for Completion, Allow Cancel and optionally Disable Manual Insert.
3. In the Integration tab, add tcCompleteTask
4. In the assignment tab, add an entry with the Default rule, target type of User, and for the User field pick an existing user with a valid email address in their User Profile.
5. In the Notification tab add an entry and check Assignee, (You can select User, Manager etc ) have the Status field set to C and for the Email field pick a Provisioning type of Notification Template that you have already created.
N.B: 7. Make sure the IT Resource and email configuration properly otherwise you will not get the mail.

Swapping users between a desktop and a laptop

hi folks. i'm going out of town working for a month. while i'm gone i want to use my wife's ibook and let her use my office desktop mac.
what is the best way to "swap" the users between the two? i would like her to be able to sit down at the desktop mac and have all her settings, docs, etc. just the way she has them on the laptop, and vice versa for me on her ibook. most of the apps are the same.
do i completely wipe both drives? or can i just swap certain files? can i do it with migration assistant?
i can't find anything by searching here or with google, since the "swap file" is something specific and not what i'm looking for.

What I would do is create a new user on each machine. Now just copy files from one machine to another, e.g. from the old user on machine A to the new user on machine B, and from the older user on machine B to the new user on machine A. There are many "sync" applications that can help you automate this process (look on versiontracker).
When you get home, just "sync" again, and presto, you're ready to swap computers.
This is basically a variant of what I do every time I go on a trip. In my situation there is no second user, but there are two computers and I want the portable to take on all the characteristics of my desktop machine at the moment I am about to walk out the door.

Distribution area affected by "force run as user"?

Still using ZDM 7 for the moment.
I have an AO which:
- Workstation associated.
- Distributes some registry keys (Distribution Tab).
- Copies files locally (Distribution Tab).
- Runs the files that were copied (Run Tab, Secure System User).
- Deletes the files (Termination Launch Script).
There are problems!
First of all, we are now using Microsoft file server, and the workstations do not have rights to this area (and cannot currently get rights - addressing this in another thread).
The file copy fails if I do not enable the "force run as user if workstation associated", but this is expected since the WS doesn't have rights to copy the files from the share. However, if I enable the "force run as user", the file copy works but the registry keys fail since the user running the AO is a restricted user.
Also, if I tick the "run in WS security space", and click apply ... the selection is cleared - the check box never remains on.
If I associate by user, then everything works fine.
It's as if the entire distribution section runs as user if the "force run as user" is associated. I don't really want to associate by user - I would prefer WS as this only needs to be run once per WS.
Any advice on this?
I presume the distribution section should not behave in this way?
I have created new AOs to see if these problems persist and they do!

Can't recreate deleted user in CUCM

Hi All,
I found that if I delete a DN or End User from CUCM 8.6 then it doesn't allow me to recreate it. It is really giving me trouble cause if I delete a DN which I am using to reach IVR or MCU for any reason & want to recreate it then I can't. I need to use a new one. Kindly advice me how I can delete the DN permanently so I can create it again.

When I try to sync the users with LDAP it shows in status that update successful but can't find the user in the End user tab. Also for the DN If I try to recreate it it gives a message that that DN already exist. It keeps the old data in the informix & doesn't delete from all the tables when I delete it using browser I beleive. Kidly suggest how to solve this.

The requirements:
1) To have different codecs for different type of calls, as the phones are at few countries
2) To pass different number of digits from CUSP to CUCM for different call treatments

Do they get created during the post installtion wizzard when you selectthe number of HR licenses or do you need to manually create the CTI ports after the post installation wizzard.

In new versions (since 4.x) UCCX creates the CTI route points on Call Manager when a trigger is added on UCCX side.
When you add a Call Control Group on UCCX side, that process creates all the CTI ports in CUCM automatically or updates the existing ones if you change settings for the call control group.

Moving users between partitions

I have "User A" on "Partition 1" and "User B" on "Partition 2". Each partition is a startup partition, so the Applications and other root-level folders have some minor differences.
I want to move both Users to "Partition 3" and rename "User B" to "User C". (If possible, I'd like to merge the Applications folders.)
How should that be done?

IMO it's a bad idea to share users between different installs if you use both of them. this can create conflicts and confuse the system. what's your reason for doing this? and you definitely should not merge Applications.
that said, if you use just one system, moving user's home directories to a different partition is fairly straightforward. log in as the user in question, copy its home folder to a different partition. then go to system preferences->accounts. unlock the lock, control-click on your user and choose 'advanced options". in the popup enter the new location for the home directory. then log out/in. you should be now using the new home directory and you can delete the old one.

Remove mailbox only from cuc when user is cucm imported

Hi,
Can you remove the mailbox from CUC when the user was imported from CUCM?
or alternatively,
Can you "migrate/change" users from being cucm imported users to just plain normal created CUC users?
We need the ability to remove the users from CUC only, but that currently also removes the user from CUCM!

Are you looking at just removing the Imported from CUCM tag? Or converting CUCM imported users to Unity Connection users?
You can't remove the tag.
To convert the users, I'm not sure about the API but you can do it from Unity Connection itself,
Option 1:
Use the BAT tool. Export Users with mailbox. Update the CSV file. Look for the ccmid column. You'll find a string value. Replace the string value with %null%. Save and update users with mailbox using BAT.
Option 2:
Run this query on the CLI. (Replace Anirudh with the alias of the user you want to convert),
run cuc dbquery unitydirdb update tbl_user set ccmid =' ' where objectid= (select objectid from vw_user where alias='Anirudh')
Note: This converts CUCM imported users to Standalone Unity Connection users. You cannot sync the users with CUCM anymore.
