Forced Apple ID security questions for App store - why?

So why now when I login to go through to the App Store I am faced with a forced "ENTER ADDITIONAL SECURITY QUESTIONS NOW in case my apple ID becomes insecure and needs to be restored" with NO option to OPT OUT of the update.
It would suggest that Apple has experienced issues and cannot keep my ID secure then !!!!! ????
So IMPOSED forced updates are the way to go? Well I can tell you now, I will NOT be giving any additonal information as you already have enough of mine to restore this account and since I cannot get past this situation of forced information I can no longer purchase any apps from your store.
Did you think about how many users that will effect when you imposed the worldwide update?
Apple, are you getting it yet?
Stop trying to p*ss your global users off with non opt out forced updates.
You already keep changeing your App store terms every 2 minutes which I am forced to accept and am totally fed up with doing. Thats called NAG, NAG, NAG, NAG annoying isnt it?
Let see if your brave enough to post this message and how many complaints have you already had?
Yours sincerely
A totally fed up customer, I am off to android where I will not be pestered every 2 minutes.

If you cannot remember the actual answer to any of these questions then perhaps you are not who you say you are. Most folks easily remember their first teacher, the first car purchase, where their parents met and what they did to celebrate the new millennium.
The problem is that it's not possible to remember the answers to questions which are not relevant.
The choice of questions is extremely limited.  There is no obvious way (or any way at all?) to set our own questions.  Worse, I do have my own personal question set up for My Apple ID under "Password and Security" when I login via the web interface, but there apparently is no way to use these security questions from my iPhone. Not to mention rolling out a change like this with no warning to users. It affects everything realted to App Store from iOS devices and there's no way around it.
This is an EPIC FAIL by Apple and I disagree with anyone who attempts to defend Apple's decision regarding this. Apple needs to fix this ASAP.

    Thank you.
You’ve taken the added security step and provided a rescue email address. Now all you need to do is verify that it belongs to you.
The rescue email address that you gave us
Just click the link below to verify, sign in using your Apple ID and password, then follow the prompts.
    Verify Now >
The rescue email address is dedicated to your security and allows Apple to get in touch if any account questions come up, such as the need to reset your password or change your security questions. As promised, Apple will never send any announcements or marketing messages to this address.
When using Apple products and services, you’ll still sign in with your primary email address as your Apple ID.
    It’s about protecting your identity.
Just so you know, Apple sends out an email whenever someone adds or changes a rescue email address associated with an existing Apple ID. If you received this email in error, don’t worry. It’s likely someone just mistyped their own email address when creating a new Apple ID.

Now in terms of the security questions if you had this email and it is from a long time ago more than likely the link has expired for security purposes.
If you have already verified the primary email then try this:
    - go to My Apple ID
    - select "Manage your Apple ID"
    - sign into your Apple ID
    - select Password and Security
When here check to see if you have a link to get an email to reset your security questions but if not then you will need to contact Apple Care for assistance. You can find the number for AppleCare in your country here:

  • Security Questions for iTunes Store

Two days ago, I purchased a new iPhone.  Yesterday, I wanted to make a purchase on my phone through the iTunes Store.  As usual, I was asked for my password.  No problem.  Then, because it was my first time purchasing through my new phone, I got a message that I would have to answer some additional information.  A screen opened asking me to answer two security questions that I didn't know the answers to.  I have had the same iTunes account for over 10 years and definitely didn't remember who I answered for my favorite teacher and least favorite teacher at the time I set it up.  There is no link for resetting the questions, trying different questions, or getting help if you forgot the answers.  You either have to give up or continue guessing until you are locked out of your account.  I followed the link for online help and was informed that I would get a response in 24-48 hours.  I called Apple Care who told me that I needed to visit iForgot.apple.com to reset my password.  I explained to 5 Apple Care reps that nothing was wrong with my password.  I got an email response within one hour telling me to go to iForgot.apple.com (which, by the way, requires you to answer security questions in order to reset your password).  Eventually, (after TWO HOURS) an Apple Rep said she could connect me to Apple Security Team.  She waited on hold with me, breaking up the garbled music every so often to let me know she was still there.  After 17 minutes on hold, I was disconnected.  Even though she asked for my phone number so that she could call me in the unlikely event that we were disconnected, she never tried to call me back.  Today, I tried again.  The rep was more helpful but after 15 minutes on hold for the Security Team, she came back to tell me that the wait time was actually ONE AND A HALF HOURS!  Total time wasted on the phone today- 35 minutes.  I just wanted to buy a ring tone.  I am SO disappointed in Apple.  I have never, in over 25 years, had this poor of an experience as an Apple loyalist.  Supposedly, the Security Team rep will call me between 7:45 and 8:00am tomorrow.  THREE DAYS of not being able to use the iTunes Store through my new phone because I can't remember who I listed as my favorite teacher.  Unbelievable.  Very much an unsatisfied customer right now.

  • Forced Apple ID Security Questions - Choice of 3

When trying to download apps onto my ipod touch, 4th Gen it displays an "Improve Apple ID Security" message and asks me to choose 3 security questions. It only allows me to choose 2 of the questions, and fails to respond when I click the 3rd question. As a result I am unable to download anything from the App Store! Any assistance gratefully appreciated.

I have the same thing. I have set a security question already on my apple ID but if I try to download a new app to my iPhone 3GS it insists on these 3 questions, but I cannot select the third question (just stays blue) so it does not work. I had an online chat with Apple last night and they said they had other complaints but they could not assist properly - they just said try using a computer!
Apple do not seem to be actually doing anything about it though, and I cannot find anyone to actually help which is so frustrating!  I can download apps with my Ipad but not iPhone where I need it.  The AppleID help pages just go over the basics and do not even have a contact link for more detailled help with this issue. Hopefully then learn about the problem and resolve it soon.  I have been waiting for other problems to be resolved with an app (Good for enterprise) since Thursday and now this.

  • New iPad prompted with "Security Questions" on App Store. Need Reset but can't Reset, actually ...

Just bought the new iPad. When trying to purchase from the App Store I get a message asking me to answer the "Security Questions" that follows, since it is the first time I am buying apps from the new device. Well, I forgot all my security answers. Then, when I go to the "manage your account" section on the "My Apple ID" page and select "Password and Security" (as explained in the Apple ID FAQ section at their support site), I am prompted with another "Please answer your security questions" check point before I can proceed. Well, like I said, I forgot all my security answers ... See, now I am caught in an endless loop and spent already 2 hours searching for a phone number or email support address at the Apple page, and could find none for that matter. I am stuck with 20 USD worth of credit in my Apple ID and cannot use it!!!
Thus, I would like to know how may I "RESET" my security questions so that I may continue using my Apple ID?
    Kind regards to you all,
    Thanks for the patience,

This should help you.......but I am with Ralph on this......How do you choose questions and answers only you should know and then not remember either?  Next time write the questions and answers down somewhere, then store them in a safe place for future reference.  I keep all my passwords and security questions/answers in a safe location in case of a situation like this:
    Go to:
    https://appleid.apple.com/
Click Manage My Account, and sign in.  Go to the Password and Security section. If you've forgotten your answers, there will be a link just under the security questions fields where you can have a reset email sent to your Rescue email address.  You had to give Apple a Rescue email address when you created your security questions and answers.  You should keep that handy as well.

  • How do you reset your security question on App Store ?

I Have been trying to buy things on my Apple Store on my phone because I have $15.00 on the account but when I try to buy thing it asks for the security questions but I don't rememover the answers to them how do I reset my security questions with that $15.00 still on my account?

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to call, fill out and submit this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

  • HT201303 how can I look up the answer to my security questions for Apps?

I want to buy apps , but I forgot the answer to my security questions, How can I look up the answer or set it up again?

If you have a rescue email address set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address set up then go to Express Lane  and select 'iTunes' from the list of 'products' in the middle of the screen.
Then select 'iTunes Store', and on the next screen select 'Account Management'
Next choose 'iTunes Store Account Security' and fill in that you'd like your security questions/answers reset.
You should get an email reply within, I think, about 24 to 48 hours (and check your Spam folder as well as your Inbox)

  • Has anyone else had new security questions from app store today?

Unannounced, apparently random (my colleages havent had this), intrusive and a personal data security risk? I'm not downloading apps until I know for sure its legitimate.  Even then, I think its too much information, when its just apps.

  • HT201303 I never set up any security questions for my Apple ID and I was asked on the app store to sign in and answer my security questions. I never made security questions in the first case. I can't purchase anything without them. What should I do?

I never set up any security questions for my apple ID and I was asked on the app store to sign in and answer my security questions, I never made any in the first place and it came up with questions that I didn't know. I've already been in support and tried to reset them, but I have to answer the security questions in order to change them. Is there any way to find out what they are?
