Forced to give up on iPhone because of iTunes 11? No more script support?

I use iTunes 10.7 because I rely heavily on the scripts I have written for iTunes, using the SDK. Messages on this forum suggest that these scripts will no longer work with iTunes 11. Can someone confirm this?
Besides that, I also need the option to have mulptiple (playlist) windows open. Apple stubornly refuses to listen to all users who want this feature back, which was removed in version 11.
I'm stuck on version 10.7, which is fine because it does everything a need it to do. However Apple thought it necessary to force users into version 11 if they want to update their iPhone to the latest OS. Because of this I'm also stuck on the old iOS on my phone. And because of this I can't use 4G network that my providers offers (and I pay for). This chain of negativity has become too long, and since switching to iTunes 11 is NOT an otion without the scripts working and multiple window support, I only see one solution and that is to switch to a phone which does not require iTunes 11, which means saying goodby to the iPhone.
Or am I missing something here? Does anyone have a solution for those two issues?
Thank you.

The main differences between iTunes 11 and earlier versions are the loss of coverflow and ability to have multiple windows open.
In Windows, you can restore much of the look & feel of iTunes 10.7 with these shortcuts:
ALT to temporarily display the menu bar
CTRL+B to show or hide the menu bar
CTRL+S to show or hide the sidebar
CTRL+/ to show or hide the status bar (won't hide for me on Win XP)
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
If you don't like having different coloured background & text in the Album (Grid) view use Edit > Preferences > General and untick Use custom colours for open albums, movies, etc.
With iTunes 11.0.3 and later you can enable artwork in the Songs view from View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) making it more like the old Album List view
View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) also contains options to change the sorting of grid based views
N.b. iOS 7 requires iTunes 11.1 or later.
Do not downgrade iTunes if you have already upgraded your devices...
Roll back of iOS is not possible.
If you feel the need to roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the 32 bit installer or 64 bit installer as appropriate, uninstall iTunes and supporting software, i.e. Apple Application Support & Apple Mobile Device Support. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.

  • Trying to connect my iphone to another itunes to get more music but wont allow me to transfer? iphone 4s

I am trying to download more music onto my iphone from my other computer and it is saying it cant because it is synced with another computer and to put this music on my phone i have to erase all my other music. i really dont want to do this. i have it as manually put music on my phone which used to work with my ipod touch. i have the iphone 4s.
    what should i do?

I have an IPod Touch which is synced on my PC with all my music (ITunes). I bought an IPhone 5 which I also synced with the same computer (transferred all my contacts and notes from my IPhone 4) but ITunes would not allow me to transfer the music which is in ITunes and on the same computer. Anyway to transfer the IPhone 5 data into the IPod Touch library and if so would I be able to re-sync the IPhone 5 with the IPod Touch library, thus adding the music, and preserve the IPhone 5 contents?

  • Can't sync iPhone because new iTunes install is not 64 Bit.

The error message is: "this iphone cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the itunes installer to remove itunes, then install the 64-bit version of itunes.".
I've browsed a few forum posts, but this is a brand new computer, and I'm shocked that the itunes installation doesn't work.
    steps:
    1. I'm downloading itunes64Setup.exe, and running the installation.
    2. I plug in my iPhone. I get the message. "this iphone cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the itunes installer to remove itunes, then install the 64-bit version of itunes.".
How is this possible? it's a brand new installation? It starts by trying to install the files into C:\program files (x86)\itunes, not C:\program files\itunes, but when I run the installation, I see files in both locations.
    How do I fix this?

Yeah, I have the same problem. Supposedly you access devices by clicking on the little iPhone icon - except there is no little icon when my iPhone and/or iPad are connected:
View your iOS device by clicking on the iOS device icon in the upper-left corner.

  • I got rid of all 5 of our iphones because of iTunes.  I am stuck with an iPad mini and can't get it to sync more than once wirelessly without rebooting the mini and the computer (PC).

  • ITunes randomly starts, and gives error "could not connect to iPhone because an unknown error has occurred" - with NO iPHONE CONNECTED!

Hi, I updated to 10.5 iTunes. I have a PC running Win 7. I have an iPhone 4.
After updating to the new iOS5, and the attendant iTunes update, now iTunes crashes - a lot - and then won't exit when I click the X. I have to force quit it. Then, it restarts itself a couple minutes later! WITHOUT me plugging in my iPhone! Plus it states it "could not connect to the iPhone because an unknown error has occurred."
This is a brand new fresh install of Win 7 - literally 4 days old; nothing fancy on it.
Anybody else having this problem? I've googled this for a while and can't seem to find any answers. It's getting really annoying!!
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • ITunes could not back up the iPhone because a session could not be started with the iPhone

    Hi
I have just updated to iTunes 10.7.(oh it just scrolled off the screen give me 5 minutes for it to come back again) 10.7.0.21 - the latest version
    I run Win7 64bit & during installation i got the blue-screen of death & windows crashed
I went to apple website & downloaded iTunes manually & installed (it tried to install in the (x86) folder as usual, so i forced it into the 64 bit program folder like i always have to do.
It now runs fine but when ever i sync in get the error "iTunes could not back up the '' iPhone because a session could not be started with the iPhone"
I have tried deleting the existing backup as suggested in the forums but that didn't solve the problem, and now i have no backups at all
I have restarted the iPhone & the computer but the error is still the same.
PS i have "Encypt local backup" selected, if i try to unselect that option at the moment it says my password is incorrect, my password is correct, i made a record of it & know exactly what password i used but iTunes is saying it is wrong, is this because i have no backups at the moment or is iTunes completely broken
I have also tried to backup to iCloud as a temporary measure but it says i don't have enough space so must buy some!
    Any help would be appreciated

Could be that iTune can't read your latest backup file. You might have to delete it, follow this article to find out how to delete the backup from the list: iTunes: "Backup could not be saved on the computer" alert message

I am trying to use Itunes to move my data from my iphone 4s that was backed up on my Macbook Pro.  I keep getting an error code backing up from ITunes to new Iphone 5s:iTunes could not back up the iPhone “Karen’s iPhone” because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the iPhone before it can be backed up.  On the Iphone it keeps telling me to add another network.  I have put our home network on the Iphone.  When I put the passcode in the phone does not give me enough time to put my Apple ID password in and it shuts off.  Help!

    FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.

  • TS2634 My problem - when syncing and error messages  comes up:  iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone because an error occurred while margin data."  I've tried turning the phone off and back on, & tried both USB ports but get the same thing.  What

My problem - when syncing and error messages  comes up:  iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone because an error occurred while margin data."  I've tried turning the phone off and back on, & tried both USB ports but get the same thing.  What can I do next since it doesn't give me even one clue as to what the error would be?

Before I started to resync calendars one by one as suggested in the troubleshooting article, I remembered something that came up in a sync when I first attempted :  a 'which one do you want to keep' message about a repeating calendar event, which came up with three options, one from Calendar, and two from iCal on the phone.  I deleted that event, then went through the calendar resync one by one, and all seems OK now.
In Music there is a way to find 'ghost' items that show up as grayed-out on the menus, so that you can try to reassociate or delete them.  It would be nice to have a similar way to work with Calendar!
Thanks for pointing me to the right article.

  • ITunes could not connect to the iPhone because an unknown error occurred (OxE8000001)

Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere but I don't have the nerves to read through thousands of "I've got the same problem too" replies. I do not care whether anyone has the same problem. So if you don't have any solution do not post! I'm not being rude, I'd just keep this discussion as accessible for other readers as possible. Besides, shouting "me too" doesn't really help anyone. Thank you.
Here's my problem, I sync my iPhone via iTunes 10.5.2, which works fine but after a while it prompts with an error message "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone because an unknown error occurred (OxE8000001)". This error message will not disappear and I have to force shut-down iTunes. It works OK for a while after re-start but the error comes back after a while. It is a very annoying little problem because I was waiting for WIFI syncing for so long and now it doesn't work properly
Any ideas how to remedy this?

  • Error Message: iTunes could not back up the iPhone because an error occurred

Error Message: iTunes could not back up the iPhone because an error occurred.
The thing is - I have no idea what error have I encountered!
Usually, I would assume the previous backup file is corrupted and I will proceed to delete the old backups. I did the same this time round, and it's still unable to sync. Now I have no more backup files!
    I have tried -
    1. Deleting old backup files.
    2. Restarting iPhone 4S & iMAC.
    3. Remove
I am using iOS 5.1 on iPhone 4S, and iTunes 10.6.1 on Mac OSX Lion. My phone is not jail-broken in the first place.
Does anyone face the same problem?
I need to back up my files!!!

Unfortunately, "because and error occured" doesn't give you much to go on.  Some general things I would try if you haven't already:
Use Disk Utility on your mac to repair disk permissions, then reboot and try backing up again.
Use Finder to go to ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/, then control-click on the Backup folder and select Get Info, then check Sharing & Permissions at the bottom and make sure your username has read & write priviledges
Try closing all apps, then reset your phone: double-tap the home button, tap and hold the apps at the bottom until they wiggle, tap the minus sign on all apps to close them.  Then reset your phone: hold the on/off and home buttons until you see the Apple logo (ignore the off slider that appears first), and release
Try a different usb to dock connector cable; ensure that your case isn't interfering with a good connection to the dock connector at the bottom of your phone; clean the dock connector at the bottom of your phone (e.g., with a dry toothbrush); troubleshoot your usb connection (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1286)
I know this looks like a laundry list, but unfortunately it's hard to isolate the problem without a clear error message.  If the problem persists, you might try posting in the iMac or iTunes forums for other ideas.

  • ITunes could not synch calendars to iPhone because the iPhone disconnected

Started getting an error message during iPhone synch about two weeks ago: "iTunes could not synch calendars to iPhone because the iPhone disconnected"
    - Am synching to my Outlook calendar on a system running Windows 7
    - Everything else (contacts, podcasts, audiobooks, etc.) synchs just fine
    - Tried totally resetting the iPhone and restoring the firmware
    - Tried deleting the backups, preferences and resetting synch history
    - Tried forcing a rewrite/replacement of the calendar database using iTunes
Nothing sems to work...still get the same message about not synching the calendar due to the iPhone disconnecting, but of course, it really hasn't disconnected since I can get it to immediately synch anything else.
    Any ideas out there? Thanks...

Thanks midwestcraft. I had this problem and your answer solved it for me.
Thought this further info may be of use to some who wants more historic dates in their calendar.
I had "do not sync events older than" unchecked and the input field set to "0". When I changed it to 180, it worked perfectly. I've found that I can increase this number to "545" - anything higher causes the error. This seems to coincide with some strange multiple-entry events in my calendar.
Don't know if this will be a clue for somebody to fix the issue.
