Forced to use photoshop extended

trying to launch an image from photomechanic in my normal way this morning via keyboard command...
instead of my normal CS6 opening, a screen popped up advertising CS extended. it wouldn't let me just close the window and continue. i had to either click buy or trial.
now, if i wanted CS extended i would have bought that. or Creative Cloud or any other thing connected to photoshop.
so i have photoshop extended on the computer. i don't want it. i just want my regular CS6 back.
please advise how to get rid of it.

When you first install Photoshop, unless you input a serial number or sign in to a Creative Cloud subscription, it will default to a 30 day Photoshop Extended trial with an ad to join Creative Cloud.
A couple of weeks ago I opened my licensed copy of Illustrator CS6 on my computer after having not used it in a while. I know creative cloud verifies the subscription every 30-99 days by making you sign in, so even for licensed users I suppose there is a check like that as well.
If forgot whether the term was "License" or "Buy", but I do know you will be asked to sign in and supply your serial number.
As a final caution, be sure your Photoshop serial number is registered with Adobe. You can then access it from your account anywhere. I don't know what to tell someone who didn't and the package or receipt is buried in a storage locker, or got thrown out and they have a project for a client waiting.

Adobe Photoshop Extended CS6 vs Adobe Photoshop CC - Licensing Issue

Allow me to explain my situation.
I had a company logo, which needed to be saved as a .TIF Uncompressed (Baseline 6.0) for use in SAP.
I tried all the software I could get my hands on, which could save as .TIF, but when importing into SAP, it displayed "Erroneous file format".
I then asked a friend who is a graphic designer, to take the same logo, put it into Photoshop, and then Save it as a .TIF (Uncompressed), this method worked when importing the file into SAP. He however used Photoshop Extended CS6.
Seeing, that everything we tried, ONLY Photoshop Extended CS6 was able to export the correct version of .TIF needed in SAP, I started looking around to purchase the software for business use, but found that the product is now EOL, and everyone I asked, tried to sell me Adobe Photoshop CC. I then asked the same friend, who also has CC, to do the same with the image, and when I tried to import it into SAP, it failed with "Erroneous File Format" again, meaning that there is a difference in the .TIF version between CS6 and CC, using the exact same export settings.
Now my question, where can I still get a legit copy of Photoshop Extended CS6 for official business use?

I am using Photoshop extended 11 on OS : Mac OS X (v10.6).
When I was editing images in CS4 earlier it was working fine.
Had hardrive replaced and restored from Time Machine.
However now am getting error messages.
" Could not complete your request because JPEG marker segment length is too short (the file may be truncated or incomplete)." and
"Could not complete your request because of an unknown or invalid JPEG marker type is found"
Can see a thumbnail version of the image in Finder and it shows data (size, file name, etc) but just won't open. Please Help

2 As far as I'm concerned, your problem more likely caused by whatever you did to try and restore the old drive you were convinced was damaged. If the files themselves are really corrupt (very unusual) - then your best option is to try and use Graphic Converter …

What version of OS X are you using? If Yosemite, you need to update to 10.10.1 or higher.

Like any other program - double-click the setup.exe on the DVD. You merely have disabled auto-play on your system.

Good news and bad news:
The bad news is that you need CS6 or higher to open 6D RAWs. (The 6D didn't get support until Camera Raw 7.3; 7.0 premiered in CS6.) You can choose to upgrade (I'd recommend skipping CS6 and go straight for CC 2014 for $10/month) *OR*...
...the good news is that the DNG Converter can help you convert your RAWs into DNGs for use in CS5 and Lightroom 3.

Using the 3D features of Photoshop Extended

Hi,
I've got a company logo I'd like to slight angle, place, and fake-emboss in order to make it appear like it's 5 feet thick and lying in a construction quarry with various construction workers working on it. I was going to do this the hard way (all in 2D pixels, creating the depth/sides from scratch), but then remembered Photoshop Extended has 3D capabilities I never used.
Will these 3D features help me get from A to Z faster? Like I said, the real time saver here would be if PS would create the depth dimension of the logo for me (ie, when you turn the logo sideways, it doesn't appear paper-thin like it would if I transformed it in 2D, but instead has an actual thickness to it).
I'm almost certain this is a mere 3 or 4 step process. Could someone tell me how?

You can use heightfiled displacement (depth maps, as some PS engineer wrongly chose to call them) by ways of converting a flat plane, but that's pretty much where it ends. for anything else you will have to explore otehr methods and tools.

Sorry, no further idea what can cause this.
Is the shortcuts file truely saved to disk? You can find in the user path, where the preferences and presets are stored for PS. Or if you go to the dialog again where you change shortcuts, is it reverted there too?

if you have a download problem, you didn't follow all 7 steps. typically, failure to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 is the problem, but your browser must also allow cookies so that's (a restrictive browser setting) another potential source of problems.

using migration assistant is problematic.
at this point yes, you should uninstall everything migrated, clean and then reinstall properly using the installation files.

But you are not forced to upgrade unless you choose to upgrade your computer or operating system. At that point it would probably stop working, otherwise it should go on forever. And a jolly good piece of software it was (and is).

I already have photoshop cs6 standard, but I want to try photoshop cs6 extended. I clicked the "try" link for extended, but when I the adobe download assistant pops up, it only offers to download photoshop cs6 standard. I thought maybe it just didn't say extened next to it, but after downloading the trial it's just the standard version! Is there a way to fix this?

There is no need to download and install the Photoshop Extended.
Open up Photoshop CS6 Standard version you have on your machine,
Go to Help >> De-activate and de-actiavte the software.
On next launch, it will prompt you with the trial screen wherein you will have "License the Software" and "Start Trial".
Click "Start Trial", it will start in Photoshop Extended version and you can use it for 30 days.
Once you have used 30 Day trial license the software again with Adobe ID or Serial Number and it will back to Photoshop Standard.

CS5 works fully on my Macbook Pro, but it all depends on your specs. If you have a newer MBP on SL, you should be fine. Photoshop isn't terribly demanding on the computer so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Whichever one you can get is fine.
